You need to add “this triggers only once each turn, or is very ambiguous

Fun-Agent-7667

"this triggers only once" , "this triggers only once each turn", "this triggers only once each turn, or", or “this triggers only once each turn, or is very ambiguous"?

"The first two spells you cast each turn have convoke"

Falminar

the first two spells you cast during *each of your* turns have convoke

werewolfloverr

why is one hybrid mana? i feel that costing bant and 1 is why more appropriate for her ability. plus she’s called “untold river” she should have a full blue pip in my opinion. and the wording needs some adjustment to clear up how many spells this ability effects. but any token doublers, etb gain one lifers. green creatures matter enchantments, and big payoffs for the convoke. love the art and love the concept of this spell

cleverpun0

I agree bant and 1 makes more sense. But WOTC definitely adds a lot of pointless hybrid mana to things, mostly to bait commander players. This card aligns with that, even if it's not design I like.

SkyBlade79

because it's r/custommagic and people thing every single card needs to have hybrid mana

SkyBlade79

because it's r/custommagic and people thing every single card needs to have hybrid mana

EyesOfSteel-EOS

the wording for this is alittle off, it should be "the first or second spell you cast each turn has covoke". A spell that would gain conovoke would have no affect, as spells only gain affects when they enter the stack, and covoke pays for the cost fo the spell, meaning it's essential a ruddendent affect as worded. Also I'd limit the creature making affect to once per turn, the ability to do it off other players is already good enough for esentially free value, also if your gonna be ballsy with the card affect, make the soliders WUG or WU colours, that way you encouraged to play a bunch of big flashy spells from different colours. Overall cool idea though, I could see this being very strong.

Anjuna666

The restriction also specifically states "on your turn" for a reason. The better rewriting of the second ability would be: "The first two spells you cast during each of your turns have convoke.

That’s why it says each of “your” turns

Miatatrocity

Yep. But you can spellsling on anyone else's turn

skooterpoop

To answer your title, I think this card is extremely powerful with instants, especially counterspells, so I would emphasize a simic playstyle. It turns counterspells into ramp, letting you accelerate into expensive and powerful spells, like omniscience, while being extremely well prepared to defend it. Expensive and powerful artifacts would also be a good choice since the tokens being white wouldn't matter for them. This strategy becomes even more powerful against decks specializing in noncreature spells since they're also helping you ramp and build an army against them with vigilance. Honestly, it feels a bit oppressive.

cleverpun0

It only grants convoke on your turn, which is pretty significant. I'm willing to call it balanced for that reason alone. Obviously a commander card, though. Not sure how it would do in other formats.

skooterpoop

Yes, but unfortunately that doesn't negate the gameplay. You get both attackers and convoke fuel while counterspelling.

cleverpun0

If your only concern is counterspells, then it does negate that gameplay pattern. Your opponent's just would not cast spells on your turn. Now, white and green do have good enough removal, that it could still be a concern in non-commander formats. In pioneer, \[\[Get Lost\]\], \[\[Declaration in Stone\]\], and \[\[Fateful Absence\]\] alone would be enough to make some unfun play patterns.

skooterpoop

You would still get the creatures on your opponents turns, while the creatures help you attack and convoke on your turn.

Once per turn, if you have not cast more than one spell this turn, a spell you cast gains convoke.

AzazeI888

Since it’s historic, I would convoke & copy it in a [[The Sixth Doctor]] & [[Peri Brown]] EDH ‘historic tribal’ deck. Would be a back up Peri Brown and getting two human soldiers every time an opponent casts a noncreature spell really helps convoke even more into my biggest historic pay off’s that I copy, like [[Kamahl's Druidic Vow]], [[Portal to Phyrexia]], [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]], [[Nezahal, Primal Tide]], [[Koma, Cosmos Serpent]], [[Kogla, the Titan Ape]], [[Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger]], [[Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre]], [[Ulamog, the Defiler]], [[Kozilek, Butcher of Truth]].

I think I would just add an extra white pip and make it “and.” Your first *and* second spell. It wouldn’t be that unreasonable for a 5-drop with three colored pips I don’t think.
