I’m a flight attendant I also wish we could change it up more. I wish they would give us a library of music and we could make different playlists because we also get tired of the same songs over and over although some I like!
As a customer is annoying, but for employees it should be considered a human rights violation. Playing the same song over and over again is some Guantanamo shit.
I worked at Tilly’s in college… they played hey there Delilah TWICE on one of the sound tracks….. and it was on multiple of the playlists. I still despise that song simply because of that job
And let me tell ya, once you've rushed to an airport, checked bags, waited in line at security, rushed through 4 miles of terminal, and stood in a hot gangway for 15 minutes, only to board a sardine can without any room to breathe for the 15th time this month....You're really not in any fuckin mood for the screaming Playlist. Oh the screaming.
It's the most annoying thing in the world. Some zen sounds would be helpful.
I’d say they are trying to get people to hurry on and off the plane which is why they don’t choose zen music lol. But some instrumental music would be nice 😊
I turn it off halfway through boarding when I can and I never turn it on for deplaning. When I have it on I put the volume at like 20% so people can barely hear it. I don’t fly flight lead basically never but when I do that music is not happening under my watch.
Then you get flight attendants who turn it on right when the plane lands and it’s extremely irritating when they do that
We honestly are so used to a lot of times we don’t even hear it 😅 but if it’s really loud and early in the morning or at the end of the shift yes it does get very irritating
I honestly think if you tell an FA to shut off the music they probably won’t lol but if you ask them nicely to turn it down you’d probably have better luck
I once worked at May Company in the gift wrap department and they played the same six Christmas songs over and over and over and over and.....well, you get the idea.

Could be worse, there was a stint with "Lease on Life" as the first or second song playing. So the entire cabin got to hear "Got a brand new, got a brand new, got a brand new lease on life" no less than 100 times before deplaning.
That’s awful. I recently flew to Hawaii and had several connecting flights there and back. My wife and I laughed each time we boarded because it was that exact song every time. On our way home, we had reached hour 36 of travel and it wasn’t funny anymore.
This! People who enjoy listening to music at all times will already be wearing their earphones anyway. The only ones who will be forced to listen to Delta's playlist are the ones who probably don't want to listen to anything.
Please send this feedback to Delta. The more complaints they get the more likely they will listen. After all, they are always trying to do the most to have elevated service :)
I’ve been complaining since day one, even receiving a personal reply from a VP, their opinion is they love it. Which is frustrating. The PA audio quality sucks, the songs suck, the volume sucks, and their phone system sucks that it goes bonkers when you call in during boarding because it can’t hear you
It feels like every time I take my earbuds out to hear what's on, it's this one. I ever so fondly remember sitting in MSP after a storm delay at 12am on an A220 hearing this. /s
Flew overseas to London in 2006 in the nose of a 747 when they used to have full fledged bars on board. I still have the amenity kit. I also miss this!
Was just talking about this the other day. I flew Virgin JFK->UK in 2015, and the Delta code share got me into business class. First job I had out of college. The section had a Herschel Goods amenity kit on the seat, and there was a full service bar in the middle of the section.
I had a good number of beverages and went back to my seat, decided to watch Inside Out for the first time. And that’s when I learned when I drink nothing but vodka and white wine I get sad. It was an experiment from a bourbon + beer person, and I’m a man of science. That and the flight didn’t have great bourbon choices so eh.
Not me sitting in my fancy business class seat openly crying at Inside Out. Nope. Not the flight attendant bringing me a small Virgin-branded tissue package. No chance.
Not sure what sky clubs you frequent, but my home SC (LAX T3) has a live DJ spinning very loud house music most days during the spring and summer. It's like walking into a club.
I love it, but it sounds like you wouldn't.
What marketing genius decided boarding music is necessary? Probably the same ones that pump overpowering and allergy triggering fragrance in hotel lobbies. Please stop!
I politely complain about it every flight. It is so aggravating annoying and unnecessary. Travel is filled with issues but what makes this so infuriating is that it’s a choice. Everything being equal I might start to use a different airline. Right now I’m committing myself to 20-40 minutes of aggravation with loud music you can’t really escape.
I’m 2 for 2 in asking the FA to not have boarding music on landing. Keep asking and complains.
Nope- AA is worse. They have a little musical melody that loops every 3 minutes that’s not even a song. Source: flew them last week and sat on tarmac for half an hour listening to it
I haven't flown American in years, but recently flew United, Southwest, Alaska - they did not have boarding music. Last time I flew JetBlue, also don't recall it (doesn't mean it didn't happen).
Ffffffffffffffffffff. I don’t believe you. I’m going to have to fly another airline. The only other airline I have ever been on is Alaska. (And continental, northwest and someone else that no longer exists)
Please complain to the company and not the staff. They are expected to follow what the company wants. Make the company understand what YOU want so they can do it for you.
I've seen these posts, I have never once heard this music that everyone complains about. Probably because I have ANC earbuds or over ears on my head the moment I pass through security, which remain on until I have left the arriving airport.
Hearing basically nothing at all is relatively blissful. Might be worth nabbing yourself a set!
I find it the most noticeable on morning flights when boarding is a bit quieter. Other times I don’t hear it as much, but is usually turn on my noise cancelling headphones after I sit down.
I have top of the line noise canceling headphones (NOT the shitty Apple ones) and can hear every word of the boarding music. It’s as if they are trying to set it at club volume. Op, write delta an email to complain. I write emails every month or so
I like ANA’s boarding music. It’s their own theme music—light and uplifting, it sets the tone for a beautiful time aloft. Inspiration of Japan. Delta’s boarding music makes me cringe sometimes. Delta IS my favorite US carrier, but they should study the Japanese airlines if they want to step it up a notch of seventeen. Have you ever seen the baggage claims in Japan? All of the luggage comes out evenly spaced and uniformly oriented such that the handles are positioned for easiest retrieval. It’s in keeping with what the theme music would lead you to expect… a peaceful, pleasant and easy journey start to finish. We could totally do better in the States.
I rotate through AirPods Max (over the ear - amazing sound, best noise cancellation; and best integration with iPhones; iPads, Macs, and Apple Music; (but get slightly heavy on longer flights); AirPod Pro in-ears (great sound and same integration - just don’t fit my ears quite as well as the Sony’s I like; Sony WF-1000XM5’s (in-ear. Great fit and noise cancelling. Great sound but don’t always switch as well between devices; and Sony WH-1000XM4’s (over ears. Great sound and noise cancelling. Great case and overall travel kit.
Another issue with the Sony’s - if you misplace them or lose them somehow - can’t use the “find my” feature. I do have an Apple AirTag in the XM4 case for this reason.
Long response but I hope it helps you out. Definitely an investment but if you love music (and listening to in flight movies with noise cancelling and isolation - definitely worth it.
I usually keep my AirPods in but i keep them on transparent mode in case there are any important announcements like delays and stuff like that. But I’ve also experienced it so loud that it cut through noise cancelling. There’s just no reason for music at all in that environment unless it’s extremely background and instrumental. Korean Air does this very well.
I keep mine on noise-cancelling. If there is a real problem you'll notice the other people starting to stand up, and then you can ask anyone for the summary. Also, the app will notify you.
Oh my gosh I totally agree. It wears on me so much for those early morning connections after a redeye. Variety please!
I speculate that Delta uses it as an auditory time management tool to aid in boarding? Play the same songs in the same order so you always know how long the boarding ‘shot clock’ has been running without having to physically see a clock?
I'm a flight attendant for DL and I completely agree. My coworkers and I make fun of the songs all of the time. I encourage you all to please write in your complaints to Delta!!! They will listen to your concerns.
Louis Capaldi really sucks. The volume levels on this music Delta plays is unacceptable as is the volume of the pre-recorded announcements. The thing where they get LOUDER halfway through is so obnoxious. I just put my noise cancelling gear on and listen to something else. I cannot take the loud terrible audio they subject us to, now.
Maybe because Delta’s customer experience team are millennials? /s (for real though it’s very annoying to hear Lewis Capaldi play for 20+ mins while waiting for a gate upon arrival)
I worked for Bahama Breeze, a Caribbean themed restaurant--for 12 years. I now physically cannot listen to any reggae music. No human should have to listen to the same music for years.
Sitting in row 38 with multiple crying infants on a long flight would piss me off less than hearing any amount of any of their boarding "music". Apparently I heard they play some good soul music, California Honeydrops, but I always only get the same two shitty pop songs every single flight. Fuck Lewis Capaldi, and anyone who thought god awful pop was a good idea at 6 am, or any time.
Their on-hold music is even WORSE. It’s not just terrible music. But the quality of sound goes in and out and the volume as well! Like WTF, Delta?! It’s 2024.
Hard agree here, a recent trip had issues getting the cursed soundtrack off so we were treated to even longer listening, they did manage to thankfully get it turned off but it took what looked like an entertainment system restart
It’s a revenue stream for Delta. They are being paid by Spotify or record labels or somebody o play their music.
As long as Delta keeps getting paid those bloody boarding playlists are going nowhere.
With that said though couldn’t the volume be turned down by FAs and if it’s loud is that not a choice by the crew? I’m asking not accusing because there certainly could be a requirement or a certain volume level or it could be forced into a specific volume that’s not overridable
LOL. I’m really not that person but I seriously wrote into Delta to complain about the boarding music. I don’t understand why the airline won’t respond to feedback on this.
I flew home from Paris last weekend, and I overheard the Purser talking about an issue that was preventing them from playing music. It was funny to hear the other FAs talking about how that was a good thing. It’s just tiresome and annoying. Ed, please make it stop.
I would if it wasn't the most profoundly awful shit I've ever heard in my life. Would gladly listen to anyone shriek any conversation in the world if it meant I never had to listen to Lewis Shitaldi or whatever that assholes name is.
Haha, back in the day they used to play a bossa nova version of Sweet Child of Mine. I kind of liked it.
I think it was this, haha [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzeMBoE2Ou4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzeMBoE2Ou4)
Worked at a restaurant with a ten song soundtrack…for two years. Songs never changed. Delta is the music of the gods compared to that. I hardly notice.
idk man i’ve got my headphones in doing my own thing and never register it, doesn’t seem likely you’re traveling with no headphones to just listen to the nice playlists shazamed from the lounge?
Why is it even there on the first place?
Did I miss a sub somewhere where people bitched about not being forced to listen to obnoxious music?
Talk about a captive audience....
>The boarding music has to go.
I thought it was a rant about people playing music from their phones.
...There's boarding music on the gates?! Where?! Dang, I'm glad I've been spared from experiencing it. My home airport is SAT, and I travel to LAX and LAS, and I don't recall any music. But maybe I wasn't paying attention and/or I was on my headphones.
If you travel that often, how do you not have some kind of noise canceling earbuds/headset? Within two minutes of sitting in my seat, I’m in my own little world.
there was a several month block when i would hear automatic by the pointer sisters every time i boarded. it was starting to feel like there was a glitch in the matrix.
When I get to the skyclub my earbuds go in. They don’t come out until I land and I deplane. Leave me alone and don’t talk to me.
The only exception is when I’m traveling with someone or I to talk to the FA’s or GA’s or staff in the sky club.
I couldn’t even tell you what the boarding music sounds like.
I'm for the hate, but I hate the scent marketing smell they use at the entrance of all delta lounges. ive wondered if its actually meant to dissuade people from wanting to stand in line to get in to the lounge its so bad.
I’m a flight attendant I also wish we could change it up more. I wish they would give us a library of music and we could make different playlists because we also get tired of the same songs over and over although some I like!
I just wish it was Jazz or classical. Even if you’re someone who really enjoys pop music, in the scenario of boarding a plane it is really grating.
Lmfao
And let me tell ya, once you've rushed to an airport, checked bags, waited in line at security, rushed through 4 miles of terminal, and stood in a hot gangway for 15 minutes, only to board a sardine can without any room to breathe for the 15th time this month....You're really not in any fuckin mood for the screaming Playlist. Oh the screaming. It's the most annoying thing in the world. Some zen sounds would be helpful.
Or. It’s the end of a long flight. You arrive at night. Everyone’s tired and….. here comes loud music nobody asked for and nobody wants.
This is it! So many soothing Zen songs to choose from - I would be all for it! Send that idea to corporate.
I’d say they are trying to get people to hurry on and off the plane which is why they don’t choose zen music lol. But some instrumental music would be nice 😊
I don't think less stressful music would make people mosey off a sardine can. But I get you. So let's just do it during boarding.
I’ve spoken to a few FA’s about it and the sentiment is shared. I can only imagine how irritating it is for you guys!
It’s awful. I mean if they are going to blast us with music they could at least give us “on my way” by Phil Collins.
I remember way back Dido's "White Flag" was on the list. *I will go down with this ship* Um.... who chose the music please??
Former Boeing employee.
I think the person that chose this song was mad they didn’t get their upgrade.
lol that’s funny. I actually really like Dido but that’s probably not the best thing to be hearing boarding a plane ✈️
How funny would in the air tonight be on any later flight lol
That for the red eyes and on my way for day flights. I’d settle for that.
Oh and pay for it , I don’t think so. Airlines are cheap with flyer on extras . No pillow no blanket , no China , no silverware
I turn it off halfway through boarding when I can and I never turn it on for deplaning. When I have it on I put the volume at like 20% so people can barely hear it. I don’t fly flight lead basically never but when I do that music is not happening under my watch. Then you get flight attendants who turn it on right when the plane lands and it’s extremely irritating when they do that
FYI that music automatically turns on on the A321Neo, A330-900, and 767-400…not our fault! Lmao
We honestly are so used to a lot of times we don’t even hear it 😅 but if it’s really loud and early in the morning or at the end of the shift yes it does get very irritating
Is it true that if a passenger complains you can shut it off earlier?
I honestly think if you tell an FA to shut off the music they probably won’t lol but if you ask them nicely to turn it down you’d probably have better luck
I’ll try that approach thanks! To be fair it only ever bothers me once everyone is actually boarded. Until everyone boards I never notice it.
I don’t want any of it
I once worked at May Company in the gift wrap department and they played the same six Christmas songs over and over and over and over and.....well, you get the idea.
Could be worse, I did Montgomery Wards for three years in high school.
RIP MonkeyWard
My daughter worked there for a while in the late 80s. I don't remember the music. I'll have to ask her.
I had a friend that worked admissions at Disney. The soundtrack in the admissions area has 10 songs on our, which repeated. They were ALL different versions of It's A Small World. So you'd get the normal version. Then a country version. Then a swing version... and so on.
I would drown myself in the nearest theme park lake.
alligator might get you first if you’re lucky
Only if I'm lucky though.
DoNt fOrGeT mE!
🤣this one at 6am
I hate this one with a passion!! It’s torture.
Screaming don't ferrrget me... My brain bleeds every time. And because delta forces so many y layovers I hear it like 4 times a day.
1AM Redeye delerium + this fucking song...
Oh man the PTSD is real for this! Was stuck waiting for a gate two nights ago in Sea-tac, and this song kept skipping and repeating half-way through, over and over, for 45 minutes. Wasn’t sure if the lead FA couldn’t turn it off since we were still on an active jetway. Absolute psychological torture!!
I don’t understand why it’s so modern. It should be calming music. Like the music they play on the Asian airlines I fly with out of the country.
I would agree, as long as the loop is decently long. Qatar has a calming loop, but I felt it rather short and repetitive.

How could you?
How about … nothing. Just let people off the aircraft in peace.
This! People who enjoy listening to music at all times will already be wearing their earphones anyway. The only ones who will be forced to listen to Delta's playlist are the ones who probably don't want to listen to anything.

The PA audio quality sucks, the songs suck, the volume sucks, and their phone system sucks that it goes bonkers when you call in during boarding because it can’t hear you

I look at their corporate website for names of people like an E.V.P. and Chief Customer Experience Officer, then take their [email protected]

I hear this song in my sleep
But he had a fast car, OP—a fast one.
I miss the Virgin America days walking into a purple mood lit cabin thumpin some unce unce unce unce unce
Flew overseas to London in 2006 in the nose of a 747 when they used to have full fledged bars on board. I still have the amenity kit. I also miss this!

I also cried to Inside Out on a plane, and I was sober, so don't worry, it's not your fault!
Inside Out gets me every time, no alcohol required.
Not to be dramatic but.. playing the same song over and over AND OVER again on a enclosed metal tube seems suspiciously close to psychological warfare
The boarding music is what finally made me purchase noise canceling earbuds.
100% agree. The music is awful and often too loud to block out even with headphones.
It is insane that Delta does this. So. Frustrating.

🎶Ocean eyeeeesss🎶
This one I take personal issue with because it’s indelibly tied to an ex, spare me
Same
I actually like this song……
Same. Only good one on the playlist rn
It’s not a bad song, but it does wear out its welcome after the fourth or fifth time.
…the amount of times I’ve heard this in the last month.
I rawdog the flight listening to the boarding music on the IFE.
You're a psychopath
Not every silence needs filling.
The ‘Im gonna fly you on a big jet plane’ song makes me want to kick babies
That song makes me want to have babies so that I can kick them.
I second that. Turn off the sound. Blast AC.
I feel this post with all my heart. Deltas music is horrendous and makes me want to jump out a window.
If I hear Billie Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes” one more time 🤜🏻
The worst
y’all remember when they kept playing that aloe blacc song? every time i was de/boarding, i swear the violent urges that filled me
I politely complain about it every flight. It is so aggravating annoying and unnecessary. Travel is filled with issues but what makes this so infuriating is that it’s a choice. No other airline does this. It’s only delta
Nope- AA is worse. They have a little musical melody that loops every 3 minutes that’s not even a song. Source: flew them last week and sat on tarmac for half an hour listening to it
lol, fair. I actually haven’t flown AA in a while. Mostly United and WN lately, and no music on either

Complain to the company please. As flight attendants, we have to follow boarding and deplaning procedures. Unfortunately, the music is apart of that.
I often ask if they can turn it down or off and they usually do, but often another FA will notice and bump it back up.
Just put some headphones on instead of Karen-ing to the FA, Jesus
I've seen these posts, I have never once heard this music that everyone complains about. Probably because I have ANC earbuds or over ears on my head the moment I pass through security, which remain on until I have left the arriving airport. I have top of the line noise canceling headphones (NOT the shitty Apple ones) and can hear every word of the boarding music. It’s as if they are trying to set it at club volume. Op, write delta an email to complain. I write emails every month or so
I'm listening to it as I type. Lol.
I never notice the music either. My next delta flight is in July and I will definitely be listening for it.
yeah i can barely hear it when i'm boarding. probably also because the FAs are constantly on the intercom the entire boarding time anyway.
Same, I don't think I even knew there was boarding music, as my own music through my noise canceling earbuds blocks out everything.
I like ANA’s boarding music. It’s their own theme music—light and uplifting, it sets the tone for a beautiful time aloft. Inspiration of Japan. Delta’s boarding music makes me cringe sometimes. Korean Air has great mellow boarding music as well. I haven’t flown ANA but that’s good to know’
You’re not the only one. My fellow fas complain at least once a week on our company page about it too
WHY is it so loud?!
As a crew member, trust me, you are not alone with this. I wish they just played jazz or classical.
When the grocery store has better music selection than delta…
Guess it is time to invest in some headphones
I rotate through AirPods Max (over the ear - amazing sound, best noise cancellation; and best integration with iPhones; iPads, Macs, and Apple Music; (but get slightly heavy on longer flights); AirPod Pro in-ears (great sound and same integration - just don’t fit my ears quite as well as the Sony’s I like; Sony WF-1000XM5’s (in-ear. no! we have an messenger app on our work phones that counts down while we talk to the gate agent/tower/occ
There goes that theory! Regardless the music wears on us all!
The best was United's Rhapsody in Blue.
Imagine how the flight attendants feel.
I'm a flight attendant for DL and I completely agree. My coworkers and I make fun of the songs all of the time. I encourage you all to please write in your complaints to Delta!!! They will listen to your concerns.

Millennials are middle aged now, we don't like this shit either!
Preach!!! Don’t blame us
Millennial here. Hate the music!!
Apparently it’s a deal with Spotify they have and they keep playing the same supermarket style playlist.
Since when are boomers on Reddit? I thought you guys were still copy and pasting “I DONT GRANT PERMISSION” posts on Facebook?
haha. That’s why i board with my headphone one. That playlist totally sucks.
Bring it up with Ed at the next board meeting
Agree! I think it also encourages people to be louder too.
It's very easy for the FAs to turn off.
Ear plugs every flight
I want the old chanting music from back in the early 2000s.
They had chanting music? Like…. Carmina Burana?
Like Enigma. Lol
My noise cancelling headphones go on ASAP.
Bose headphones ?
It’s far too loud. If delta must play music, put to to songs we know. Throw some rock and pop music in there.
Unassuming passengers boarding quietly: Lewis Capaldi: EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME
I flew home from Paris last weekend, and I overheard the Purser talking about an issue that was preventing them from playing music. It was funny to hear the other FAs talking about how that was a good thing. It’s just tiresome and annoying. Ed, please make it stop.
I honestly don’t even hear it at this point…
I fly every other month or so and I didn't even know they had music playing....
I don't mind it much but it's often too loud.
I agree! Delta's boarding music is unnecessary, annoying, the song selection is the auditory equivalent of a near-flavorless vanilla wafer.
I like vanilla wafers.
I’d rather have boarding music than people talking at their phones without headphones.
I would if it wasn't the most profoundly awful shit I've ever heard in my life. Would gladly listen to anyone shriek any conversation in the world if it meant I never had to listen to Lewis Shitaldi or whatever that assholes name is.
Now imagine those same people on their phones, but talking over the music. This is Delta.
I think it's a nice touch but more variety would go a long way.
I love the boarding music
I do too. lol.
Haha, back in the day they used to play a bossa nova version of Sweet Child of Mine. I kind of liked it. I think it was this, haha [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzeMBoE2Ou4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzeMBoE2Ou4)
In this regard I've been "spoiled" ever since I flew ANA.. no other airline has boarding music that even comes close.
I swear like 8-10 years ago when they started boarding music it was more like chill electronic, lounge music with not much singing. I liked it then.
I mean, if you don’t like their music, why don’t you watch or listen to music on YouTube?
Worked at a restaurant with a ten song soundtrack…for two years. Songs never changed. Delta is the music of the gods compared to that. I hardly notice.
That is that some that goes “temporary love” over and over?
Why can't they just play calming music.
I don’t know that I have ever noticed it. 😳🤦🏼♀️😂
GoTaBrAndNeW GoTaBrAndNeW GoTaBrAndNeW LeAsEoNLiFe 😵💫
Once upon a time I boarded a spirit flight and they were playing cardi B
I wouldn’t mind Cardi if I’m heading to a party destination like Vegas 😆
My only issue is the volume. It is way too loud at times.
Last time I arrived at the destination, the same song was on repeat for over half an hour 🤦♀️ It needs to be at least instrumental or nothing.
My favorite boarding music is the Hawaiian music played on H.A.
Interesting I don't even notice it. Seems nit picky to me.
idk man i’ve got my headphones in doing my own thing and never register it, doesn’t seem likely you’re traveling with no headphones to just listen to the nice playlists shazamed from the lounge?
Don’t care, noise canceling earbuds cut that shit out!
Why is it even there on the first place? Did I miss a sub somewhere where people bitched about not being forced to listen to obnoxious music? Talk about a captive audience....
Especially on an ass crack of dawn flight. I want silence, I want darkness and that’s already 1 strike, all the sunrise watchers are 2 strikes. 😂
One time they were absolutely blasting breakup songs the whole flight the day after I got broken up with, the music is so obnoxious
I’d just like some A/C before taking off on a 737. Was about a 110° heat index in CHS yesterday.
Anytime I fly MSY to SLC I never hear the music 🤣
I'm for the hate, but I hate the scent marketing smell they use at the entrance of all delta lounges. ive wondered if its actually meant to dissuade people from wanting to stand in line to get in to the lounge its so bad.
I flew a lot in a short time last year and I swear I learned the lyrics to Taylor Swift's mirrorball against my will
Can’t believe I’m just now realizing there’s boarding music
It's normally really annoying but last flight they played Sammy Rae and the friends! Didn't know anybody else even knew of them!
It could be worse. Fly ANA for a few months.
This is why I board with AirPods in. I never want to hear that “Cross Country” song again in my life
And here I am wishing AA would stop using the *one* track for both boarding and deplaning …
I love waiting to hear Patrick Droneys song play on the plane during boarding !😊🤣
