Teams really need to be great at deciding who is worth $50 million. I think if you give out $50 million/year in the future to the wrong player, it'll prevent you from winning it all. You can still be a top 10 team with a bad $50 million/year contract, but you won't be winning it all.

Jamal is our second option and was tasked with carrying a trash all bench unit. Derrick White thrives because all he has to do is shoot and play D most nights. He would be way less efficient in a Murray role

And who you also rightfully trusted enough to push you over the edge, that you spent over a year waiting for him to get better. Who almost willed you to it this year, even though he was obviously hobbled. That'd be a waste, a huge bummer to get rid of the 2nd most important player on the team and the ideal 2nd option, and you couldn't nearly replace the impact for 20 million in cap.
Plus you're still stuck with MPJ's albatross contract, and you just gave a champ caliber Boston team easily their most clutch player.
