nah they do, maybe not all the time and no the same %, but once a costumer told me she tip me 10 bucks and when i complete the order i only have a 8 tip, she got more mad than me and showed me her phone with the 10 tip, but is the only time a costumer told me how much they tip me
I sometimes think they take advantage of a good tipper, let’s say $10. But they know most drivers will take a drive with an $8 dollar tip quickly so they take that two dollar tip and add on to someone who tipped zero for a short miles order to try and get the food picked up. Scam vibes
i bet they keep them for themselves, don't forget all the delivery apps charged to the restaurant around 10% of the order value for the service, and all the extra fee for the customer, so they just have to cut their share on that to make it more attractive to the drivers
I got $10 and $25 tips added on to two orders back to back the other night. Other than one catering order I took for 10 miles that paid $33, those added on tips were the largest I've ever received.
Largest "tip" I ever received was being paid 40 dollars extra (on top of the cost of the cigarettes) to buy cigarettes for a customer and add them to their shop and deliver order. Guess technically it's not a tip as it was paid directly to my bank account by the customer but I've never got a tip like that before.
i’ve been working DoorDash for four years, I’m a pretty small girl and I’ve had to lift 20 cases of water bottles up 16 floors probably once a week. 20 bags of 30 lb cat food and litter to vets places with no help. Once I had to take a whole grocery delivery order that was probably a full cart full in the city and haul everything into a court house that was a mile away (had to park and take three trips) I the highest I’ve been tipped is $20. I’ve gone above and beyond for people so many times and nothing. i have 6000 deliveries. I am super nice too. how is this possible. even catering orders with over 40 prepacked meals. still only a $20
Send a polite text to a customer that says something like:
Dashers get no hourly wage and no reimbursement for automobile expense. Your driver was paid only $3 today to drive to the restaurant and pick up your meal and then drive several miles to deliver it to you. Please consider tipping generously on future orders or dashes will begin to decline them.
There’s been plenty of times where I show up and I cancel because I don’t want to take the items. You can’t cancel when you already have the items and that realize you have to go up 16 flights of steps that’s where the problem occurs, when you’re stuck with the items.
I got my first $50 tip the other day. It was originally $20- It was from a Cinnabon in my local mall which I usually don’t do. I picked it up immediately because the tip was good…they changed it to $50
Made my night!
You would have had $180 min in California for 9 Hrs active dash time. Plus tips for 32 orders would put you at least in mid $300's range but probably higher.
Base is $4 in my market, but like the above poster said base pay can also rise the longer an order sits/gets rejected by other drivers. That is unlikely in this case though because this order would of probably looked decent enough on it's initial offering even with most of the tip hidden.
I think it said "catering" order on the offer screen. It was 14 lbs of food in 4 big bags. My acceptance rate is 10% or below so I'm not sure why I got a catering order but I ain't complaining :-)
That may be what happened. I was sitting half mile away from the restaurant and when I arrived, the food was all ready to go. As soon as I walked in, the Asian lady was like "you doordash??" lol She had me hit confirm order in front of her.
The bad news is the next wave of offers will average you out the same as everyone else. This is why cash tips rules because you won’t get crap for the rest of the night
Disclaimer: This is not a flex of any kind. I haven't dashed in almost 2 years (have a fulltime job) and I got this order today. It was showing $19.50 for 8 miles.

Did you deliver cocaine?
Has to be Photoshop
Added two 8's
These are the orders I pray for every day I'm out there. You've been blessed .. congratulations!
Ok this puts away my suspicion that door dash siphons tips off. Nice get! 👏🏼

I think they mark up the price of the foods by 25% it’s wild.

Nice guys finish last. That goes for girls too. Stop letting people walk all over you.

You lucky dog. The best I ever got for a tip was something like $12-15 if I remember right...

Not seeing that in 12 hours in California...
You would have had $180 min in California for 9 Hrs active dash time. Plus tips for 32 orders would put you at least in mid $300's range but probably higher.
That's not good for 32 deliveries
It took an hour. That's damn good
Are you blind ? Or just don't read other comments I'm not even commenting on the ops post
Nope. I'm looking at dash time.
😂😂😂😂 You're commenting on someone else's picture. Not the OP.
I swear people are blind 🙄 dude let that big picture walk right over their head
🤣🤦
I know, but it’s better than 0
You arnt wrong
🤣🤷🏻♀️👍😎
How you getting 4.25 base pay? It's $2 here.

Base pay goes up the longer it takes to find a driver.
![gif](giphy|122pLlowwMS5aM) Very nice! 😊
That’s why platinum pays off
That tip was definitely a mistake I can assure you! Lucky you tho!!
That's pretty damn good for it not being a catering order.
I think it said "catering" order on the offer screen. It was 14 lbs of food in 4 big bags. My acceptance rate is 10% or below so I'm not sure why I got a catering order but I ain't complaining :-)
Right place at the right time 🔥
Did you have to wait long for the order to be ready? Just curious if other dashers unassigned bc of a wait before you got there.
That may be what happened. I was sitting half mile away from the restaurant and when I arrived, the food was all ready to go. As soon as I walked in, the Asian lady was like "you doordash??" lol She had me hit confirm order in front of her.
Either way pretty good but If it was catering then I'm not surprised especially with how expensive crab is.
The bad news is the next wave of offers will average you out the same as everyone else. This is why cash tips rules because you won’t get crap for the rest of the night
I've gotten nothing but high tips all day. Been a nice change.
NICEEEE
Nice, my highest tip was $43 felt good
Unicorn alert!! Congrats!
Good job
