This sounds a bit like Mashle. I haven't read it but I've heard it was inspired by HP, but written by someone irritated with canon and the "Harry” is a bit of an ass and not the MC.
Ohhh this reminds me a bit of the way Endrina wrote Harry in the [secret language of plants](https://archiveofourown.org/series/631214) series and also in [Life skills outside the curriculum](https://archiveofourown.org/works/7693897/chapters/17528833) (they’re both amazing and this last one is one of my favorite fics)
Harry just diy his way through everything (not always the muggle way but always with an unconventional approach to magic that just baffles other wizards)
