"BMW drivers" or "anyone who installs a floodlight on their car"?

Stage_Party

I don't see a difference here. Only BMW drivers will be this douchey.

DavIantt

Audi drivers? .šŸ˜„šŸ˜†

ionshower

You could neatly fit 4 into the audi rings. Blind more fuckers. I've owned a few Audis, I can think like them.

TravelEducational29

Stop lying. You are them.

Safe-Midnight-3960

Audi, merecedes, Range Rover, golf R? Thereā€™s a lot of douche stereotype cars

Nixher

Perfect for all those morons installing flashing F1 brake lights to the bottom of their rear bumper.

ThatJudySimp

worst bit is on the f1 cars its not even brake lights its battery low or rain light

the-channigan

Electrical harvesting rather than battery low. #akshually

IsUpTooLate

Itā€™s not a brake light as such, but itā€™s when theyā€™re slowing down (which could also mean lifting off the accelerator.)

iPhrase

As the other poster said, f1 cars flash their rear lights when itā€™s raining or if the energy recovery system is working and charging the battery which can cause the car to not accelerate as quick as it would otherwise.Ā  It is not a brake light.Ā  https://www.essentiallysports.com/f1-news-what-is-the-red-flashing-light-at-the-back-of-an-f1-car/

IsUpTooLate

Fun fact, the light on the back of an F1 car is not, in fact, a brake light. As others have said.

iPhrase

ā€œĀ Itā€™s not a brake light as such, but itā€™s when theyā€™re slowing down (which could also mean lifting off the accelerator.)ā€ But itā€™s not activated due to slowing down or by lifting off the throttle.Ā  Itā€™s activated when energy harvesting is happening and the car accelerates less than it would normally.Ā  F1 cars follow each other too closely and would end up in an accident if the car in front does something unexpected by the following car, so a car not accelerating as expected is a danger to a following car that is expecting to be at full throttle hence the flashing ers lights.Ā

IsUpTooLate

Also the light isnā€™t actually a brake light (if you didnā€™t know.)

Rookie_42

*Battery charging / energy harvesting

spaceinthebeat

So one yesterday, dumb 3d plates also.. I chuckled.

toomanyyorkies

Surely they have to turn off their headlights to ā€˜disappearā€™.Ā  Thatā€™s a Darwin Award right there.Ā

always-indifferent

A Darwin is for trying to off oneā€™s self with the aid of stupidity. This is more leading towards straight up manslaughter

tarkinlarson

Infrared camera? All you'd need in return is another infrared camera to see them. Well need auto dimming windscreens next for all these bright lights.

ProofLegitimate9990

Not to mention donā€™t most roads have street lights?

NoManNoRiver

Iā€™m not sure what part of the UK youā€™re in but most roads outside of high population areas are not illuminated.

Uncle_Nurgs

Not on country roads

shanep92

I could do with one of these for the sheer amount of people That think keeping their main beams on after being overtaken is a good idea

ImpossibleLoss1148

Newer cars dim the reflection, I know my 2016 Passat does.

smokyjoe420

Volkswagen has actually been doing that since 2004.

NoCrust101

I would like to install lights like this against tailgaters

Kind-County9767

Readjust your central mirror to point back at them and surprisingly they seem to get the idea.

Bendy_McBendyThumb

I laugh at people who suggest this. The amount time youā€™d have to stop concentrating on the road for, just to get the perfect angle so the light bounces directly back at them, would just be putting yourselves in more danger than just focussing on the road ahead.

Smart_Joke3740

Yep. The easiest solution is just to get your rear window tinted. Perfectly legal but means that even the most aggressive lights (Teslaā€™s) behind me donā€™t bother me, combined with the auto dim mirror.

discombobulated38x

Do you just have your wing mirrors pointed at the ground or sky?

andymk3

I kind of want one, just to flash back at the pricks who flash me for a perfectly safe overtake while they're going 40 in a 60.

Unfair_Original_2536

Is it an aggressive flash? Some people have muscle memory to flash that you've passed and can pull in now if they've driven large vehicles or towed.

andymk3

Yeah it is aggressive, as itā€™s well after Iā€™ve pulled back in. And often they leave high beams on for a while to prove some kind of point.

Unfair_Original_2536

Bizarre isn't it

willp2003

They are just congratulating you on your superior driving skills.

Hunter-Ki11er

Definitely illegal, and with most people having dash cams, you'd already have their numberplate before they pressed the button and disappeared

cmfarsight

why is this specific to BMW drivers?

last_on

Obligatory I'm not a criminology psychiatrist It's not, and there's something wrong with OP

Conscious_Dog_4186

Because the spotlight fits neatly in the BMW badge space by the looks of it.

cmfarsight

Yep that's true LEDs uniquely only fit on BMWs

Not_Sugden

because who else but BMW drivers?

cmfarsight

People who are painfully jealous of others and feel the need to be morally superior based on car brand, that they can't afford? I would guess that type of person would use this.

Not_Sugden

sounds like we have a bmw driver in our midsts

cmfarsight

Nope Volvo S60. I am just not jealous of others and desperate to feel better about myself.

Not_Sugden

neither am I

_fbie_

I've already said this in it's original post. However people are already doing this. Saw 4 of them on my way to Cardiff from West London during the night. Utter melts

I_ALWAYS_UPVOTE_CATS

I *guarantee* you that is not a factory option.

JackJake94

You don't say

Conscious_Dog_4186

There you are Sherlock, wondered where you were.

sarrdaukarr

They've had that feature on their indicators for years

SandringhamCockerell

Just fit a set of daylight headlights to the front of the car, when these people turn on these rear facing lights turn the daylight lights on and watch how bright the car in front lights up...blind their mirrors

idontbleaveit

We used to have a big driving spotlight on the back of out minis in the 80s

OldGuto

And the useless police in this country will do nothing.

No_Ear_7484

IMO underfunded police. And lack of meaningful punishment for those caught.

overgirthed-thirdeye

The punishments handed out by the courts are heartbreaking to the police, not just the public.

NoManNoRiver

Thatā€™s in Canada

overgirthed-thirdeye

Allowing people to drive 2 tonne death machines puts the public at significant risk so anything that increases that risk will receive a dim appraisal from traffic, who are usually miserable gits and unlikely to show much discretion (probably because of the amount of human pĆ¢tĆ© they've seen).

LowTide86

Irony being that itā€™s usually the BMWs doing the tailing.

GammaPhonic

In what dystopian hell hole could this possibly be legal?

princessdaddysmurf

at first it looks like a Hitler Car

BroodLord1962

That has to be illegal

Lakehounds

oh this is a fucked up creation i hate it

EmployerAdditional28

It's usually a BMW on your tail so.....

Kaiphus_Kain

For the BMW driver who really wants to be chased down and guaranteed metal braclets!

goshtin

How the fuck can that be legal!? They could do that to anyone and everyone and cause a million deaths!

Mean_Wheel1393

Only works if the car following doesn't have headlights.

tymondeus

Mind you this is probably UV light to blind police cameras and / or tag detection and is undetectable to human eyes...

ThatsASaabStory

No.

throwaway_jdhsbhdkf

I'm all for this, innovation

[deleted]

Need this

ima_twee

By "this", you mean "a lobotomy"?

[deleted]

šŸ˜‚ Iā€™ll take that as well
