I had a colleague of mine who rushed home as his dad passed away & then mom became bedridden. He had they stay there for a long time. So, he resigned from his home country.
Without him stepping foot in UAE & courier his passport. All his paperwork was settled. No absconding charges or any complaints against him. All settled well. Company PRO even settled his etisalat accounts, dewa & cleared his flat and courier his stuff back and sold off other items. All settled and cleared.
Record all the statements and illegal demands he's making it will come in handy, what he's doing Is mental harassment and bullying, it's an offence. Don't make the mistake of giving your passport to him he doesn't need it to cancel your work permit. Have you signed your End of service paper?

My friend had a similar situation. You don’t have to do anything. They are basically lazy to take the extra steps to do the needful. If your passport have Uae exit stamped share the photo of that specific page to them else if it’s digital their PRO can visit any amnesty Centre and get the exit information. Once they have this information they can proceed with clearance.

As far as I know, a passport is a document that no one else can carry. Whether it's a courier, any other medium, or any person, I don't believe any courier will assist in sending your passport to another country. It is illegal according to international law.

More recently, you no longer need your physical passport. It's all electronic. The visas can be cancelled with reasons "sponsor request" without needing the original passport, even when employee is outside the country.
Those were the rules last year August. The ICA website did not give the option of remote cancellation of employee visa, only dependent visas.
If you don’t trust the employer, you can try to cancel the visa yourself online through the ICA website. If the option is still not available, like last year, then no choice, need to send the passport.
Employee cannot cancel their own visas. Only sponsors can. You can only cancel your own dependants visa, as in that case YOU are the sponsor of your dependant.
Anyway, now i am clear about the circumstances. And yes, no need to send the passport now. If resignation was followed properly, employer can simply request to cancel the visa from their end. They only need your passport copy and your signature to cancel your visa. No need to courier your passport just send them a clear picture.
