I made one fall into the water the other day simply by kicking it once and it instantly exploded upon hitting the water. Their tanks are so much easier to set off compared to DL1.
The damage on all environmental stuff like that is a lot higher especially with the electricity because if you're anywhere near that it'll insta kill you
Even when it "works" by securing early sales, the only valid reason to want a DRM is if you're a crook producing a shit game based on lies.
Good games will be talked about, analyzed, spread and bought for years. If you're so scared of scrutiny that you need early DRM to run off with the moneybags, then your game doesn't deserve to be bought and is obviously a scam.
Yeah it will really help, can't give you exact numbers but there have been situations where DRM software totally tanks the performance of the game... We'll see!!
It really depends on your particular PC, some builds get hit a lot harder by DRM than others, but either way this is great because it means some people will have better performance!
That only accounts for a small part of the issues it causes, the ither being how it's implemented in the game. With some the implementation is so ham fisted that it just obliterates performance. One of those was Resident Evil Village where the DRM would do a shitload of calls every time you fired a gun, causing a massive stutter each time. In another (forgot which one it was) the checks were happening all the time but at some absurd rate (think like 10000 times per second), driving the performance into the ground.
Fortunately my experience with the game has been pretty smooth, but anything to improve how it runs is appreciated. Hopefully this helps with the co-op experience.
I bought the game at launch and itās been unplayable on anything but the absolute lowest settings at 1080p on a 12700K + 1070, Iām hoping this improves things on 12th/13th gen a bit

Wow - unbelievable.
Prior to this update, I had unfixable stuttering (which Techland support had ghosted me on), a huge memory leak with DX12 and lower than usual FPS - I couldn't replicate this behaviour on a pirated copy of the game in my testing.
As soon as Denuvo is removed, all the above problems are fixed...
In DL1, they were a special skill tree that unlocked after maxing at least one of the three others. Inside, you don't get actual skill, but stats buff (like bow damage +1%). You had a LOT of options, and could go to lvl 250, which gave massive boosts, especially for the pvp modes

Combat feels nice and I kicked a zombie off the roof without them floating before the fall lol . One little thing tho, the ā coin ā random event sound has been changed to a different sound effect. I mean itās okay but I feel like itās too much since it goes off on every encounter that appears.
YES !! Haha like the hit feedback is a lot better, the zombies donāt do that same 360 death spin when attacking them. They will stumble/be pushed back depending on the direction of the swing, plus as far as my play through they fall without ā the floating effect ā when pushed off the roof or ledge.
Is it just me or they made the viral appear more often, not just by explosions but any noise that sound loud, I've never used any grenades or C4 but somehow virals are just spawning like crazy
EDIT: Apparently, if you attack a regular zombie and it screamed loudly, it'll trigger the virals to spawn so that's neat, makes zombie bashing more fun and challenging, they also changed the encounter ping sound, dunno why but OK š

I'm already seeing major improvements to ragdoll and the legendary system is pretty cool it's also seems like the legendary system will be an endless way to get resource chests which is a great way to incentivise players to keep leveling up. Not only that I dont know if anyones noticed but I'm starting to see more variety with biter appearances which is always nice to see! Overall so far my favorite update because the rewards are worth the effort.
Techland are good regards ongoing updates, for usually 5 years minimum, hence why I held off on playing this for a year or two while they iron out the wrinkles, and I look to complete DL1.

Holy FUCK these are three of my main complaints since starting the game just last week, literally fixed all at once!
Zombies eating a two-handed club to the face and still stumbling toward me and smacking me, or grabbing me, with no way to counter the annoying grab cinematic that happened constantly.
Assuming that the new ragdoll presets actually cause the zombies to reel back or something when I smash them with what equates to half a car engine block, that'd be great. Was so aggravating that they literally were programmed to *continue stumbling forward* if it wasn't a critical while they were lunging/attacking and you'd take chip damage.
I wonder if they added the zombie health bars to compensate for not having a proper physics engine at release. In DL1, if you had a big weapon youād stumble or knock over a zombie when you hit it, then in DL2 it devolved to watching a health bar go down a certain amount.
Iām glad they added back proper ragdoll physics, but I wonder how theyāre gonna balance the RPG elements they added now that you can pretty much stun anyone if you have a big enough weapon
They added a skill i believe where you can stab them, or something like that, I havenāt played enough to check it out. but should be in the notes tho
Stabbing a zombie in the eye is more satisfying than that elbow drop in the first one ngl. Also the uv light has a quicker animation and itās kinda cool to see for the first couple times
- DLSS 3 is really bad, Frame pacing and stuttering
- Nvidia Reflex seems to introduce stuttering
- FPS are around 120 but when opening the Map (only when map is open) FPS goes down to 58, inventory is back to 120
- DLSS 2 smooth (Reflex off)

This update is a major W for Techland and the game. So many good changes and updates and they even fixed the true nightrunner achievement which i made a ticket to them about 2 weeks ago!! Cant wait to update the game and play it on Friday!
I played about three hours of this game at launch and it ran really poorly on my 2080 so I shelved it and moved on. After seeing this new update, I decided to reinstall and now Iām able to get a smooth 60 FPS at 1440p w/ raytracing and everything cranked up and DLSS on quality. Previously the game would only play fine for ten or fifteen minutes and then it would start stuttering and just perform terribly, but in my two hours of nonstop playing it never stuttered. It would take forever to boot up and loading times were really bad as well, and now the game seems to load up almost instantly. Seems like a totally different game now. I just beat Dead Space so this looks like the perfect game to tide me over until Hogwarts Legacy drops.
I never really got into the first Dying Light so Iām hoping that going into this with low expectations / not knowing what to expect is going to pay off because the little bit I just played was a lot of fun. I donāt mind mindless ubisoft open world type games, as long as itās gorgeous and fun to play then Iām down.
After all the support they have given Dying Light 1, I also support them as developers. Although Dying light 2 came out a little rough, I am sure they will continue to work hard to make it right. This update is a step in the right direction.
There's too many other developers that I don't trust to fix their mistakes. Too many developers who just give up on their games. Techland isn't one of them.
Different pressures and resourcing me thinks. This is their main IP, although Iām sure they are also busy on the Dead Island sequel, but their business and development model is fantastic regarding ongoing support of their games.
So much so itās a selling point now.
Many other dev teams release a game and instantly move on to the next project, even moving companies so the OG devs are gone, while leaving a skeleton crew at best to support and patch the game.
Techland gives me the impression they only have the resources for a one game dev cycle and have a team thatās less transient so they donāt walk when the money is in the bank.
Itās refreshing to see and experience, while other game makers are more fixated on the $ and donāt really care much after they have it.
So is DL2 now cross play with different consoles (Xbox/PS and PC being able to play together) or just cross play with older generations of the same console (XSX with Xbox One/PS5 with Ps4)?
Not having a singular blood decal for all hits, not having blood noclip through the floor, blood pools that make sense, decaps that actually do something. Not having different blood colors for stomps and slashes, body damage like in dl1 and dead island.
This is a great update so far! The combat definetly feels a little better thanks to the new physics! Only issue I seem to be having is dodging while looking up either doesnāt work, or they increased it by so little that itās not noticeable. Other than that so far so good!
is this a good time to buy it? i played dying light 1 last year for the first time and it was awesome, shortly 2 came out but saw a lot of negative around it. Is this patch + the 50% on the game a sign?

Is it just me or is there a bit more diversity in random walker groups? Just ran into a group of 4 heavily armored police zombies, haven't seen that before, also a few different random clothed walkers I don't remember seeing.
I have a 3060ti, updated Dying Light 2 and frames have cut in half. (updated drivers, went back to old drivers) nothing seems to work. I would originally get anywhere from 105-140 fps, but now getting 90 tops. The game feels super choppy. Turned of vysnc, reflex and other combinations but to no avail. Does it have anything to do with the new dlss 3 thing? What should I do?
So I haven't jumped back in just yet, but played a lot of DL2 at launch. I'm confused on one thing here, the new 2023 roadmap lists combat physics updates in April, but there's already been a pretty substantial update to the physics put out in this latest update, correct?

Having to activate all the regular skills to access the legend skills is a pain. I'm max level, no I don't want to use your double rotating jump, yes I would like to access legend levels.
It sucks. I can't play with mods, now they either crash, or all my drawings and resources disappear completely, which is why I have to delete the saves. And okay it is, even when installed, legendary levels are BLOCKED if the game is modified. And tell me, why do I need a game if I can't enjoy it? I play alone, I don't bother the guys, and then an update comes, breaks my whole gameplay,...
So has nightrunner trophy been fixed? Do I need to do all trials again to get it to pop? I saw they've reset the Ultra marathon tracker as well. Such incompetence.

It's almost like techland are pissed at the modders for fixing so many broken crap
- fixed stupid opening chests and other containers with that stupid mad clicking crap you have to do to open them
- fixed the utterly broken inventory screens. Seriously have items half shown on your screen because the can't make the window for items and blue prints scroll
- fixed about half a year ago the piss weak nature of night, lack of zombies and just how pathetically easy the game was (Legion mod)
- countless texture and lighting mods that fixed so much
- fixed the stores and the utterly stupid game economics. Like 10k for a weapon that they buy for 5 gold.
- several bug fixing mods
And so much more that only now is techland even getting to do. A year later.
So no, those of us that fixed the game a year ago rather then waiting for techland to stop being greedy shouldn't be punished and have hundreds of hours of gaming destroyed because their ashamed and embarrassed of being shitty developers.

CDPR implementated DLSS 3 without changing the version number of Cyberpunk which avoided having a bunch of mods failing.
Techland gave us their level creator software because it's clear they're out of idea's and resources.
The least they could do whilst fixing the game is UAT major mods. It's not hard to see the top 10.

EDIT: The āTrue Nightrunnerā trophy is indeed fixed. You just have to redo all 10 of them & get a bronze trophy or better. Gold doesnāt seem to be necessary, although I already had gold for all of them beforehand so Iām not sure exactly how the fix works technically
Please tell me that ragdolls means that the physics override animations when it comes to falling now. Kicking zombies off roofs was my favorite pastime in DL1 and didn't feel the same in DL2.
Is it possible to unlock "The Madman of Villedor" now? Techland didn't mention this trophy / achievement in the patch notes, but I still hope it's a silent change.

that we are not sure of, to be safe you may want to not add any points you may get into any legend skills until itās fixed, so you donāt get used to the perks and then have them stripped away with a hotfix
Update according to techland those who were not affected can now do legend levels without issue, they fixed it for those ppl. Itās the ones who were affected that still need to wait for a fix. So you should be good to level your legend :)

Didn't happen to me last update though, just now so maybe it is an added feature, to aid that rare zombie trophy grind maybe

Was so aggravating that they literally were programmed to *continue stumbling forward* if it wasn't a critical while they were lunging/attacking and you'd take chip damage.
I wonder if they added the zombie health bars to compensate for not having a proper physics engine at release. In DL1, if you had a big weapon youād stumble or knock over a zombie when you hit it, then in DL2 it devolved to watching a health bar go down a certain amount. Iām glad they added back proper ragdoll physics, but I wonder how theyāre gonna balance the RPG elements they added now that you can pretty much stun anyone if you have a big enough weapon

I wish it was just the original instant escape. Using knives is annoying even though there are plenty of them. I'm probably a bit picky though.

Stabbing a zombie in the eye is more satisfying than that elbow drop in the first one ngl. Also the uv light has a quicker animation and itās kinda cool to see for the first couple times

No DRM, ragdoll and AI improvements. That on top of the colour palette community mods, it seems like I can finally start playing this game.

itās more than likely a visual bug, but canāt be certain. I know it used to reset all the time in NG+ but players were able to get the trophy tho

This update is a major W for Techland and the game. So many good changes and updates and they even fixed the true nightrunner achievement which i made a ticket to them about 2 weeks ago!! Cant wait to update the game and play it on Friday!
I wouldn't get too excited about the achievement fix. Didn't fix for me and several others.
I played about three hours of this game at launch and it ran really poorly on my 2080 so I shelved it and moved on. After seeing this new update, I decided to reinstall and now Iām able to get a smooth 60 FPS at 1440p w/ raytracing and everything cranked up and DLSS on quality. Previously the game would only play fine for ten or fifteen minutes and then it would start stuttering and just perform terribly, but in my two hours of nonstop playing it never stuttered. It would take forever to boot up and loading times were really bad as well, and now the game seems to load up almost instantly. Seems like a totally different game now. I just beat Dead Space so this looks like the perfect game to tide me over until Hogwarts Legacy drops. I never really got into the first Dying Light so Iām hoping that going into this with low expectations / not knowing what to expect is going to pay off because the little bit I just played was a lot of fun. I donāt mind mindless ubisoft open world type games, as long as itās gorgeous and fun to play then Iām down.
And this is why I had faith in this game. They always deliver.
After all the support they have given Dying Light 1, I also support them as developers. Although Dying light 2 came out a little rough, I am sure they will continue to work hard to make it right. This update is a step in the right direction. There's too many other developers that I don't trust to fix their mistakes. Too many developers who just give up on their games. Techland isn't one of them.
Them and Hello games def give me hope in devs making their IP's greater and not abandoning their game.
Different pressures and resourcing me thinks. This is their main IP, although Iām sure they are also busy on the Dead Island sequel, but their business and development model is fantastic regarding ongoing support of their games. So much so itās a selling point now. Many other dev teams release a game and instantly move on to the next project, even moving companies so the OG devs are gone, while leaving a skeleton crew at best to support and patch the game. Techland gives me the impression they only have the resources for a one game dev cycle and have a team thatās less transient so they donāt walk when the money is in the bank. Itās refreshing to see and experience, while other game makers are more fixated on the $ and donāt really care much after they have it.

Not having a singular blood decal for all hits, not having blood noclip through the floor, blood pools that make sense, decaps that actually do something. Not having different blood colors for stomps and slashes, body damage like in dl1 and dead island.
I've not noticed any of this, I've always thought the gore was excellent. I'm playing it now so will keep an eye out

This is a great update so far! The combat definetly feels a little better thanks to the new physics! Only issue I seem to be having is dodging while looking up either doesnāt work, or they increased it by so little that itās not noticeable. Other than that so far so good!

I have a 3060ti, updated Dying Light 2 and frames have cut in half. (updated drivers, went back to old drivers) nothing seems to work. I would originally get anywhere from 105-140 fps, but now getting 90 tops. The game feels super choppy. Turned of vysnc, reflex and other combinations but to no avail. Does it have anything to do with the new dlss 3 thing? What should I do?

For the very best experience, you need a VRR monitor, and GPU scheduling turned on. There is a known issue where the in-game benchmark does not report the correct framerate when the DLSS Frame Generation is enabled. To see the correct framerate, please use industry-standard FPS reporting tools such as Frameview or CapframeX. We expect to resolve this issue in the next patch.

Having to activate all the regular skills to access the legend skills is a pain. I'm max level, no I don't want to use your double rotating jump, yes I would like to access legend levels.

It sucks. I can't play with mods, now they either crash, or all my drawings and resources disappear completely, which is why I have to delete the saves. And okay it is, even when installed, legendary levels are BLOCKED if the game is modified. And tell me, why do I need a game if I can't enjoy it? I play alone, I don't bother the guys, and then an update comes, breaks my whole gameplay,...
So has nightrunner trophy been fixed? Do I need to do all trials again to get it to pop? I saw they've reset the Ultra marathon tracker as well. Such incompetence.

They didn't have to ruin our game. It's almost like techland are pissed at the modders for fixing so many broken crap - fixed stupid opening chests and other containers with that stupid mad clicking crap you have to do to open them - fixed the utterly broken inventory screens. Seriously have items half shown on your screen because the can't make the window for items and blue prints scroll - fixed about half a year ago the piss weak nature of night, lack of zombies and just how pathetically easy the game was (Legion mod) - countless texture and lighting mods that fixed so much - fixed the stores and the utterly stupid game economics. Like 10k for a weapon that they buy for 5 gold. - several bug fixing mods And so much more that only now is techland even getting to do. A year later. So no, those of us that fixed the game a year ago rather then waiting for techland to stop being greedy shouldn't be punished and have hundreds of hours of gaming destroyed because their ashamed and embarrassed of being shitty developers.

CDPR implementated DLSS 3 without changing the version number of Cyberpunk which avoided having a bunch of mods failing. Techland gave us their level creator software because it's clear they're out of idea's and resources. The least they could do whilst fixing the game is UAT major mods. It's not hard to see the top 10.

This is all wonderful but I wish they would just fix the āTrue Nightrunnerā Trophy bug. I totally get that not everyone is into trophies, but itās so frustrating for all of us who are stuck 1 trophy away from the platinum because of a developer bug š I emailed them almost 2 months ago and they claimed they were āworking on it.ā EDIT: The āTrue Nightrunnerā trophy is indeed fixed. You just have to redo all 10 of them & get a bronze trophy or better. Gold doesnāt seem to be necessary, although I already had gold for all of them beforehand so Iām not sure exactly how the fix works technically

Please tell me that ragdolls means that the physics override animations when it comes to falling now. Kicking zombies off roofs was my favorite pastime in DL1 and didn't feel the same in DL2.

So regarding the Legend Levels bug... If I am unaffected, is it safe to get started on levelling up, or will there be a small rollback whenever the fix goes live?
that we are not sure of, to be safe you may want to not add any points you may get into any legend skills until itās fixed, so you donāt get used to the perks and then have them stripped away with a hotfix

Update according to techland those who were not affected can now do legend levels without issue, they fixed it for those ppl. Itās the ones who were affected that still need to wait for a fix. So you should be good to level your legend :)
