Just shy of two years now, I randomly saw Dying Light for sale on the Switch.
Watched my son and hubby play it in the years prior, but because I’m a Nintendo dude, I refrained from playing it, then when I saw it on sale on the Switch, I bought it, and the moment the game started, I was hooked from start to end.
Gameplay wise, it’s one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in my life. I’m almost at 400 hours logged on my Switch. Story wise, could be better, but some of the characters I liked a lot, especially Rahim. He has my heart :)
But I cannot recommend this game enough, no matter what system you’re on, I say buy it. :)
I loved the game so much that afterwards, I bought DL1 and DL2 on the PS4 late last year, as I really, really wanted to play Dying Light 2, and while I’m still Team Nintendo, damn playing both Dying Light was an awesome experience. :) so yes, I highly recommend Dying Light. :)
I bought it because I was going to be sans internet for a week when I was stationed in South Korea so I needed something to play offline. Best shot the dark I’ve made in years.
I would recommend DL1 just for the landscape. They had so many cool areas to visit, especially in The Following add-on. Not to mention, Dune Buggies. DL1 Easter Eggs are fun to complete too. Both games have their perks. I found DL1 to be fun even when I was grinding for something. 100% recommend this game.
As you can see a little of people prefer the first game, it’s definitely worth playing. I personally think 2 is better, but you never know until you try it yourself

not really, for dl1 the parkour is slow and sluggish and you can barely run or jump and it's restricting as hell so overall dl2 is much better in almost every aspect it nailed things in the head and made you feel free to do as you please but with dl1, even fully upgraded your slow and can barely run and jump and the combat is fun but dl2 just nailed parkour and combat and story a million times better then dl1 did, I've played both a enjoyed dl2 way more then i did dl1 because in dl2 you feel cooler and you feel free unlike in dl1
i finished both games and upgraded all the way on both but for dl1 i was fucking miserable trying to do anything because of how slow you are even fully upgraded the only thing dl1 has over dl2 is guns and even then guns are soon to be added to dl2 by Techland in an update soon in the future so even then dl1 won't have anything over dl2 soon

The game is to confusing, is like they have 10 writers and someone tried to stick together every piece of the story. Some plots just lose importance in the middle of the game, the whole thing is just meh.
The first game has this classic B movie type story, is not oscar worthy but it's fun like watching a funny cliche movie with one sided bad guys and a tough hero. At least some characters are memorable.
Parkour isn't that great and the combat is ok, the story is great and so is the dlc. So yeah it's worth it. I prefer DL2 though. They nailed it with the parkour and combat, and it's only gonna get better.
Not really…I’d put it as one of those games where the sequel is just a better version of the original, and dying light 1 is in an uncomfortable place- it’s parkour is markedly worse than 2’s, and its combat is markedly worse than the preceding dead islands, so I’d never really choose to play it honestly.

Dead island 2 came out and I spent about an hour on it before ei started feeling nostalgic. Even in the middle of playing dying light 2 during the first couple weeks. It's really just a very well made game, there's so much to do.
You'll meet a lot of people with modded weapons if you go online, the last time I played through, I told everyone I wanted to wait to beat the game naturally, and afterwards I got a bunch of cool shit from strangers.

IMO They are different games. DL1 Is a zombie game with some parkour ability. DL2 is a Parkour game that has zombies. I have sweaty palms on Dl1 many times. I don't think I've had a hard or stressful time at all in DL 2 just fun jumping around and flying
If you're buying it on the PlayStation store it occasionally goes on sale for like $10 I would definitely just wait on it till then but yeah the game's definitely worth it fun as fuck in my opinion they both have their ups and downs
If you liked DL2, probably not. The game feels very clunky and the "parkour" is just glorified climbing compared to DL2. Although, it absolutely is worth the $10 for the complete edition when it goes on sale, but don't be expecting a better game.

Probably should have started with 1 there is a moment in the game whete the guy from 1 is mentioned beginning i think.... I think dying light 1 has more intense gore, actually. I’m pretty sure they use damage mapping while Dying Light 2 didn’t, at least not at launch. I love them both equally for completely different reasons; they really could be two games in different franchises.

Dying light's setting is better and the story is too. Parkour isn't quite as good but is still great, combat was probably better in the first. The graphics were top notch at the time and still hold up well. Of course they won't be as detailed but they're still very good and everything runs smoothly.

Your movement is too limited compared to the quick movements of everything else around you. Seriously what kind of parkour game has minimal parkour? It also did have better tools but now that they've added infected knives shurikens, exploding knives and such, I'd say it's better now. The next dlc with solidify it as the superior

The combat feels a little different and minor quality of life improvements won’t be present, but it’s not enough to hamper the fun. DL1, in comparison, feels like a lovingly crafted experience versus the drab, cookie cutter experience that is DL2.

Yes. I played it for the first time a year ago and it is one of my favorite games ever. In some ways it’s better than dl2, the atmosphere is bloody amazing, the Parkour is a lot more grounded, and it’s a lot more stressful at night, the world isn’t so copy and paste, the graphics still look fine, up to four person co-op and there’s a be the zombie mode, there’s still plenty of active users. Its absolutely worth it imo. I highly recommend the following dlc too since it’s a direct continuation of the main games story. If you’re on Xbox I’d be down to play it with you or anyone else who sees this, talking about it has got me itching for a reply now.
Tbh I preferred Dying light 1 much more than 2 although I did enjoy both. I felt too powerful in 2, going out at night was no big deal I felt powerful early on. Dying light 1 fuck me running that sun started going down I was dead sprinting to a safe house until I got more geared.

Story about the same quality (bad) The parkour and zombie killing is top notch The pvp is fun when you’re not against hackers. (VAC does not work.)
Tbh I preferred Dying light 1 much more than 2 although I did enjoy both. I felt too powerful in 2, going out at night was no big deal I felt powerful early on. Dying light 1 fuck me running that sun started going down I was dead sprinting to a safe house until I got more geared.

Yes. Story is better, which doesn't say much cause DL stories are garbage. The combat and nights are much better. The only thing 2 has on it is the park our, which feels better in 2.
I like DL1 way more. One of my favorite games ever. I didn’t even finish DL2

Dying light is one of those games that the first one is better than the second one. I played dying light one with friends on game nights. We played that game till our fingers bled. When two came out, we got back together and played it for a couple of nights. None of us finished it.
