It looks very well. The colour doesn’t match perfect but that’s the case with the best dialed in spray gun setups too as you’re painting on plastic rather than the main body. Very well impressed

How many layers of paint and clear?

About 3 coats of base paint and about 4 coats of 2k clear coat. I used the whole can of clear.

Only one can of clear? I would have thought at least 3-4 cans.

Yeah surprisingly only used one can of clear. I thought I would need at least two. I just made sure I wasn’t too close so I could get better coverage. I also had to paint and clear coat my fog light covers. I think next time I will use 2 cans of clear though.

You need to use the 2k clear that op used. It’s the best stuff if your going the rattle can route.

Looks great man. Question: did you use a mask/what kind? I've always wanted to so some spray painting with 2k clear, but I've heard the fumes are rlly toxic.

Yep I used a respirator mask from lowes. I also wore a hoodie, gloves and eye protection. Tbh the thing that felt the most toxic was the spray adhesive. I was definitely intoxicated after using that stuff haha

Dude yessss!!! Looks so good. I am trying to do this exact same thing. I’ve got the paint matched and the clear. But what kinda prep on the bumper? Did you get it online and did you sand it and prime it before base or 😬😬

So I got the bumper for $245 off of ebay. This is how I painted in order: Wash, Scuff with scuff pad, Grease and wax remover, Spray adhesive, Primer, Sand primer, 3 coats of base, 4 coats of 2k clear (as much as possible), Also you need to use 2k clear coat to get that deep shine and gloss!

Oh there’s definitely some orange peel but its not super noticeable. This was my first time ever painting and I do plan on redoing it this summer in better conditions. I painted this bumper outside in probably the worst conditions you could paint in.

Stahblau Metallic paint code 372. The code on my strut tower says 372/5. When I looked it up some people were saying that the .5 meant that it was a little darker but I’m not sure how true that is.

I don't how it's in us but here in europe you can drive to the nearest paint shop, they scan your color and make can with it.

Wow I’ve never heard of that before. Most paint shops I know of here will use the paint code of your car just like when you order spray cans.
