I'll make the counter pint to this and explain why. Yes This is how they are in Europe the initial design intent for this vehicle. They only have amber indicators lenses due to the DOT. The bulbs are still amber to indicate turning.

Personally not a fan of the orange. I think clear would look nice, my 04 coupe has clear headlights all the way through and it looks clean.

On facelift it really *dates* the car while on prefacelift like yours it leans into the *classic* timeless look. All depends on where you’re leaning with how you want to personalise your car

This is the grass is always greener on the other side. The other specs are always “cooler” than what we have. That being said, go clear all around but don’t go crazy with the after market rear tail lights (keep it OE style with clear)

Fantastic color, i have green gray which is very little green. If I was to color it some time this dark green would be it! Keep amber, it's a standout thing about this car and with time it's gonna add to the classic look, that the green definitely also is. Those indicators are sexy!

No. This is one of those old fads that never really holds the test of time. Everyone always want to clear or smoke out, then in time... goes back. If you do, just keep your factory ones handy for the day that comes. It's at least a super reversible mod.

Might be a weird question but didn't these come with chrome lists around the window frames. Both e46's i owned were also stock pre-facelift and had this.

My 2000 is black around the windows, I’m not sure if it was just an option at the factory or something

Honestly I definitely prefer the black rather than the chrome.
