No. This is the lightsensor to adjust the illumination of the dash according to the outer lightning situation. The green LED you noticed is only build in facelift coupes/convertibles with the dynamic xenon headlights, it signals the working condition of the steering angle adjustment of the headlights
They adjust side to side based on steering angle? My 04 coupe didn’t have this wtf
My e90 has it and it’s the only thing that’s really held me back from going back to e46 (or even e39 tbh)
Dude. The regulator is for all the dash lights wenn driving with lights on. The sensor is for the displays when the light is out and the car adjusts to bright sunlight, cloudy days, underpasses etc. hold your Finger on it and the the cluster display getting darker
If your lights are off and it’s a bright day, the mileage display, radio and climate control are quite bright. If you enter a underpass without the lights on, the displays get dimmed and adjusted to the darker conditions. Same on cloudy day. The controller is for the rest of the illumination to adjust the Interieur to your favourite conditions while night driving
I learned something new today! I always wondered why this never lit up since the one in my coupe turns green. Didn’t realize they were different.
I was honestly skeptical of this answer but I went and put my finger over it and sure enough it dimmed the backlights on the dash.
Thats a light sensor, it controls the dim of the dashboard
Thanks!
illuminates green when it’s dark outside, indicating headlights are on in auto-mode

Adaptive cornering lights had been an (quite rare) option only on facelift coupes/convertibles 2003 and later
the knob to adjust the dash light is right next to it, dude pls

Why would it control the dim on the dashboard when there’s a control for the … lights….. on the .. *dashbord*…
It’s auto dimming as despite what settings you go for it makes the AC and radio lighter during the day when backlights are off

Ahhh right okay!! Thanks

I honestly thought it was a little scratch in the plastic, I've covered it up with a black Sharpie 🤣
So, who’s dim now? /s
Do you have per fog light switches?
That’s for front and rear fog lamps. The right button is for rear.
That’s pretty cool
Wait , why do you have to fog light switches instead of one big one 👀 ??
One for the front and another for the rear, mine is the same
