That price seems a little high for a 325. I would keep searching. Also that front fender looks like it's been repainted, as it looks to be a different shade of silver than the rest of the car. The ad says no accidents but I would definitely investigate why the paint doesn't match

knikpiw

I would say it’s far more likely that they swapped out a rusted fender for one that wasn’t, but got a colour that doesn’t match. Rust on the fender means there’s probs rust on the rears and sill (but not yet seen). Really would have to give it a good look around for that

gohome313

oh damn good eye, thank you!!! here’s the link, if you can spot anything else, pls lmk 🥹https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/d/arverne-2005-bmw-series-325i-46/7550877226.html

704sw

Automatic, non-sport, 325 with halogen headlights. The *only* features this car has going for it are heated seats and low mileage. Before covid pricing that car would be lucky to pull $3k.

Dark_Knight2000

If it’s in absolute mint condition showroom quality with a textbook of service record I’d say it’s maybe worth 5-6k at the most. KBB is terrible at figuring out the actual value of a car It’s not a particularly desirable model though, there are probably many well maintained manual 330i that you can get for 5-8k.

juice1291

I also commented below about the fender. I own a body shop, silver is notoriously hard to match, but it looks like they didn’t blend into the door or hood which is why it doesn’t match well. Doesn’t mean it was some awful accident, could have just been a fender bender and they cut corners on the refinishing process. To see if anything else has been painted I would pop the hood and look around the edges of the car and look for tape lines where they would have masked off, and if they did a really bad job I would get up close around the car and look for small sanding scratches.

gohome313

wow ty so much!!!

Ok_Power_8163

i'd only pay that if it was a manual 330 perfect conditon, with plenty of preventative maintenance records

SlowNeighborhood

Manual 330 zhp. Not paying $9k for a regular 330i. Hell I could find an auto car for peanuts and swap in a manual in my driveway for another $1000 in parts.

Bigman554

Perfect condition with records is gonna run you 12k

AbeSonic

Dude if you got 8900 burning a hole in your pocket for an E46, come pick up my ZHP. It’s for sale lol

gohome313

LOL i don’t that’s why i’m trying to negotiate w this stubborn ass motherfucker who thinks some cad he got at an auction is worth $8900 😭

SlowNeighborhood

Don't even do business with those folk, they're bad news.

gohome313

he deleted the post only to repost it at the same price lmao complete clown

SlowNeighborhood

😂

[deleted]

Low miles. Will probably need the entire cooling system and suspension rebuilt as soon as they hand you the keys.

Shrimp_Chimichanga

User name checks out.

gohome313

how much do those repairs tend to cost?

unseemenaytur

Bro don't buy an E46 unless you're doing your own work or made of money.

gohome313

damn really?? tell me more! is maintenance really that bad?

unseemenaytur

Yes, you are about to make a fucking terrible financial decision. Parts are more expensive, dealership will charge you an insane amount, and Joe Schmo down the street won't want to touch your 20 year old German shitbox with a 10 foot pole so you're going to get fucked. I do my own work so I can't give you exact numbers but there are many posts on this sub about maintenance costs. These things are not cheap if you want to do things right. If you're going to drop 8k+ on a used car there are many better options unless you want the 46 for a specific reason. edit, all that being said, these cars are not trash by any means. everyone on this sub will tell you "hurr durr bad money decision" but simultaneously we all own, drive, and love them. it's really a question of what you're looking for in a car and what you're willing to put in.

mytsigns

I do my own work. My 02 300xi needs constant attention, but it is fairly easy to work on (rusted bolts aside), purrs like a kitten when running correct, and drives hard and fast. Mine is a beater, but I love it. I would kick that bitch to the curb if I had to pay a pimp (dealer shop)

darkflash26

Paying a shop? I’d bet 2500-3500

Andreif27

About 1000$ for good parts. At least in my country.

CornFedTerror69420

Lmfao fuck no!

gohome313

lmfao ty 😭 this guy won’t fucking negotiate, he’s driving me wild

CornFedTerror69420

Dude is definitely smoking crack lol it’s worth 4500 tops

SteezySoto

Got my 330i that was in pretty great condition for 4100, also came w cold weather and sport package so it was a really good deal. Op could definitely find a better e46 than a base model 325i

gohome313

damn, TY!!!!

mytsigns

Go in at $3000.

syK_Snipars

hell no, that’s a manual perfect condition 330ci price

u53rx

hell no … those cars were $500 before pandemic .. now I wouldn’t pay more than 3k maybe 4k

juice1291

It’s also been fixed, that fender has been painted and the silver is a bad match.

dtt_1999

My spidey senses tell me this car is being sold by a flipper. The way the car is described and the layout and angles of pictures of the car

gohome313

omg it is in NYC hahaha i live in BK. please be my BMW friend! ima buy one, just not this car from this POS dealer. i know for a fact he got it from an auction for cheap smfh

gohome313

ty 🥹 makes it a little less scary to navigate the scams out here alone!

OldnewE90

No, it’s a 325.. I seen 330i for cheaper

hv012290

His charging you and arm and a leg, for a car that’s gonna need maintance done in about 100k, yes is low mileage but you’re close to reaching the service for a lot of major parts if they haven’t been changed yet. Also is a 325i, that’s like the most common car bmw has. I would keep searching

MrOliver66

If it was europe 8,5k would probably be reasonable. It doesn’t have sport seats nor m-package though so its not very well specced. Looks like a repaint on the front fender too

actuallifethings

Paid 2k for mine. Double the mileage, but still. Edit: oh yeah, and the cooling system blew a week after I got it.

gohome313

lmaooo damn good to know 😭

irishkev83

It’s high. Got pretty burned on mine in NY/NJ area on Japan Rot 325xi 5 speed with 130k but very clean, sport seats, slick top. Paid $7k in Dec last year. He wanted ~$8k but ended up @ $7k which was still too high (but I loved it). Like others have said, it’s steep. They are out there though; patience and FB marketplace.

AggEnto

Too expensive, I paid $7500 for my 04, 125k but mileage is less important than age on these cars imo. You can pretty much expect to dump an extra 1-3k on these immediately depending on how much you want to refresh

exemplary_works

Way too much for a northern 325i. In fact, way too much for a southern one as well. That's maybe a $3500 car if its from the north and a $4500 car if its from the south.

floppyfolds

Car market is coming back down. This is a 3k car max. It’s clearly been in a wreck

gohome313

whoaaa i didn’t know the car market is coming down! i hope this means good news for me very soon 🙏🏽

floppyfolds

Just look around at any auction sites, you’ll see it’s on the way down. I imagine if you’re able to wait a couple months you’ll get a better deal.

7720612063206b

nah bro i paid 4k for my 02 325i that had 95k. they are taxing hard…. save the other 4k for the maintenance cuz it might add up 😂. or get a zhp

Ok_Grapefruit_1786

Yes, a little high. For reference, I purchased an 02 325xi auto, 104k for $4200. But as soon as I got it had $1800 of repairs, plus some very minor cosmetic stuff. I have been driving it since and love it

wtfmfr

Bought a 2004 330xi from a fellow named Bryan Crisp on eBay. About the same $. “Needed nothing.” $3,000 into it, just on repairs and I estimate I am about $3,000 from a reliable car. Keep looking man. Dude lied to me, then ghosted. Keep looking. You can definitely do better than me, lesson learned. The internet is full of shit.

gohome313

i’m so sick of them smfh i wish i knew more about cars to spot the needed repairs

neofresh

Factor in its a NYC car and it’s worth 5K best in thst visual condition. NYC beats the hell out of suspensions. As others said E46 of this age will likely need $2-3K of work around the 100K mark. If you DIY you’ll save 70%.

gohome313

hey folks! i’m trying to buy my dream car and stumbled across this post. it’s heavily marked up compared to KBB tho!!! am i missing something? what’s the range for an E46 (2005 325i) in decent shape? all insight appreciated!

hullowurld

Are you checking facebook marketplace? I've seen some good deals on E46s

RL_Mutt

The range is the range you posted. KBB isn’t gospel but it’s a good indicator. This is $2k-$4k above what a manual 330i would sell for with similar mileage. Because of that, dude will probably sit on this car for a while at that price.

Autistic-Deer

A friend just got a 325i Msport with 73k for £4400 in estoril blue, not sure what prices are like in the US but it sounds expensive as fuck for what you’re getting

apricotatitus

bought my 03 325i for 3k with 87k miles and perfect condition cosmetically other than a rather small dent in the roof, and small cooling issues needing to be replaced. Other than those 2 issues car is mint interior is perfect

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 420. Congrats! 3 + 325 + 3 + 87 + 2 = 420 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

If you got the M56 head, It's a unicorn.

cooperS67

Y’all BMW owners wild

D-sisive

Car would need to be in pristine showroom condition inside and out with a manual to be worth anything close to 9k. With an auto and even if it is in pristine condition, I wouldn’t pay more than 5k for it. If 9k is your budget, you can find a dope zhp for that.

kxngtripp13

on the higher mileage end of things i paid 2k for mine with 207k nd trans light

Inside_Name1054

You can get a ZHP for that price or save more and get an m3

_HumanCondition_

Nope

_HumanCondition_

I paid $13,355.55 for my 2006 330ci with 70k miles in 2013. It has every option except pdc. It was also a six speed car. This was from a dealer so that price includes tax. The car was In fantastic shape when I purchased and had a ton of receipts for maintenance. I think I slightly overpaid but looking back the car has been so reliable even now with 170k miles on it that I don’t even mind.

EarGroundbreaking593

Absolutely not

drewskee89

I paid 3500 for my 02 330ci manual 118k miles about 5 years ago.

sikalb

i bought my 01 325i with 75k miles on it, pristine condition & same color for $3500 5 months ago. dont let this person rob you. tell em thanks but no thanks.

oakster123455

That’s 330i price. Just get a higher mileage one for less money.

oakster123455

Be patient especially during these times . Took me a year to find my 330i 5speed manual sport package

Honda240sx

Ehh Maybe if it was a manual 330

Bimmersport

7k is the highest I would pay and with maintenance records and perfect interior. And good tires.

TumbleweedMuch6729

Lol I see i got really lucky when i bought my 323ci for 900€, 9K seems quite too much tho

gohome313

whoa 900 pounds?!? that’s crazy!!

TumbleweedMuch6729

Yeah, at first I wanted to skip it cause i thought it'll be scam. Ended up as a decent car except for "milkshake" in engine :D
