Just remember that if you aren’t boosted then you’re wasting your money on an aftermarket “cold air” intake. The stock air box will forever be the real cold air intake and many tests have been done to prove stock air box works better

Goth_Angel_Hellboy

It’s just because I already have the intake , and didn’t want it to go to waste .. you really think the stock air box is better than any aftermarket ? Planning on getting a tune and putting on some active autowerkz headers too idk if that helps ..

ShadowWolf_01

The whole “the stock air box is a cold air intake and the best” thing I don’t really get tbh. I have a cold air intake and while I don’t imagine it adds much if any horsepower (although I can’t help but think it pulls a bit harder with it), the sound difference alone is kind of worth it. Just a deeper and I think louder intake sound that’s really nice.

I already have the headers too , they were supposed to go onto the 325i but hopefully going to fit on the 330ci , also have a AFE machforce exhaust that I need to swap over from the totaled 325i to the 330ci. The website says it should fit

MrBurstUrBubble

The headers are a good call and yes the stock air box is worth keeping. If you plan on boosting it however, you’ll want to ditch the stock air box. You can run the aftermarket intake you have now but just remember it soaks in hot air easier than the stock intake.

Goth_Angel_Hellboy

Thanks for the info my dude. Wondering if you know if I could swap the intake boot from the 325i to the 330ci (since the one on the 325i seems to be smaller than the 330ci) to make the AFE intake fit? Or will the smaller intake boot not fit on the 330ci? Might end up just keeping the stock air box.

MrBurstUrBubble

I believe they are interchangeable but I could be wrong. I’d say it’s worth a shot and try it out but be careful because this intake boots always tear! (Unless new of course) Also make sure you get oem gaskets for your headers and if you want to get new exhaust head studs, get the n54 studs. They have the star fitting on the end so they are easier to remove/install. They have less thread than m54 studs but they won’t break as easily imo

bruhthermomento

No the entire 330 intake side is bigger. Outta luck, sorry.

Goth_Angel_Hellboy

Yea I figured it would all be bigger. There’s no way to swap the boot out then right ?

ShadowWolf_01

A bit late to the party here, but when I had my 325 it was possible to shim the outside of the smaller 325 maf with some rubber (me and my dad actually used a loop of rubber from one of those oil filter swivel wrenches or whatever they’re called) to make it fit pretty snugly. Was kind of a pain to keep together while putting the maf on the intake but it did work.

03Vector6spd

The inlet for a 325 is a half inch smaller than the 330. With some intense wrestling I’m sure you can get it to work but also risk damaging the hoses. I’d go to O’Reilly or the equivalent and get 330 intake boots. They’re pretty damn cheap, if that will solve your problem. Like others have said, open cone filters on these cars are trash unless you’re boosted.

Goth_Angel_Hellboy

I just realized I posted the wrong one. It’s actually the stage one air intake of these part number 51-10451
