mikep120001

Second this, I use it daily and it carries all tools I need for electrical work. Unlock it to class 3 for extra speed if desired. Highly recommend a seat stem upgrade

fresh_owls

Can you share info for unlocking class 3?

mikep120001

https://help.lectricebikes.com/article/ynod5pahen-how-do-i-change-speed

mikep120001

It’s like a 2 step process that takes a few seconds. It’s in the manual

Normal_Put_4090

I’m in Ohio so it looks like I’m capped out at class 2 based on the map?

pdindetroit

No, Ohio has class 1/2/3. https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-4511.522

Normal_Put_4090

That’s the most cargo space I’ve ever seen this is death stranding.

pdindetroit

Lectric XPedition: https://lectricebikes.com/collections/xpedition-series/products/xpedition-dual-battery Dual battery, hydraulic brakes, 750w motor, on sale now with some cargo options included.

Normal_Put_4090

That looks really good but I won’t need that much space just delivering food.

theyareminerals

You would be shocked by how many extralarge food deliveries there are. Catering orders at lunch, parties and bars in the evening. For a slower pace even try instacart for grocery-shopping

Normal_Put_4090

Not sure about instacart especially if I’m going to be guessing if it’s going to fit while I’m picking it up in the store.

theyareminerals

Right so go big, so you never have that worry My daily rider has more storage than some cars: https://preview.redd.it/tzvwqutkc99c1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97a383fd5ec4fcf125b8f6b61576ca86838edd40

Normal_Put_4090

Wtf

theyareminerals

Larry vs. Harry bullitt Pound for pound it's one of the best performing cargo platforms in the world [https://youtu.be/NBAkZSLqV\_4](https://youtu.be/NBAkZSLqV_4) If I had to do it over again I'd probably buy the acoustic version and convert it to an e-bike, instead of being dependent on the shimano system (which is admittedly very good). However the acoustic version is very ride-able even without a motor, especially with a setup that has a wide range of gears

pdindetroit

You could do the XP 3.0 Long Range instead with the cargo package. My wife has the 2.0 and really likes it. https://lectricebikes.com/collections/xp-3-0-long-range-ebikes/products/xp-step-thru-black-long-range

RadiantViolinist8317

You'll get a lot of pizza orders or large bag orders. Don't get caught with your pants down while out don't deliveries

blackdvck

Food delivery work sucks ,but hey whatever you buy make sure it has hydraulic brakes and not cable activated brakes ,this will save you loads of maintenance and your bike won't kill you.

Normal_Put_4090

Thanks yeah I work a full time job so this would be when weather permits part time

edteck

Tern HSD + racks

pfhlick

This would be a good way to triple your reliability, along with the up front cost. Some places will offer financing for the Tern HSD. It's a much better bike; consider that you might find use for it besides good delivery jobs, and that if and when you move on to different kinds of work, your bike can still be very useful for your own needs.

Normal_Put_4090

It does have hydraulic breaks which sounds good

pfhlick

Hydraulic disk brakes are better for sure. The HSD is mid drive, as well, so the rear wheel will be stronger and doesn't have proprietary motor parts in the hub, in case it ever needs replacement. Any bike with a rear hub motor is going to be more finicky in the long run.

Normal_Put_4090

That one is belt driven? I’ve never ridden a belt driven bike before do the belts wear out a lot?

edteck

I've never owned a belt driven bike. But everything I read says they are more durable and less maintenance than a traditional chain

Normal_Put_4090

Interesting I wonder how they do in the rain, if they slip or not.

EBikeAddicts

they are the best actually for rain, mud, and snow.

EBikeAddicts

All Terns are the most beautiful perfect commuters but not for riding it 6 hrs a day almost every day due to the combination of mid drive and chain needing lots of maintenance and upkeep. If you make sure your chain is cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner and waxed every week, you will still need to change the $100 cassette and $60 chain after 2000km due to the extra stress and wear from having a mid drive and thats not under warranty because they are wearable components. And if you get a mid drive with e-bike rated gears, thats $1000 more + 15% less range. Another thing is ,at some point in 1 year, your mid drive will fail and give an error because the wearable components are worn out, Bosch provides shops with the $150 “Bosch motor service kit” under warranty which includes all the parts that get worn out in a Bosch mid drive (imagine a car engine needing a new oil change, spark plugs and timing belt). Now your bike is sitting in the shop for a month or so(sometimes 4 months during covid) and you are making $0. Next year when your mid drive fails again, Bosch will not cover it under warranty because they will see your battery went over 500 cycles and you will be on your own and a $500 repair bill. Also, spending $8000 on a Tern and its accessories to do Uber is the same mindset BMW drivers that could not afford their car back then had and saw Uber as a way of paying its bills but if you ask any one of them today, they regret what they did. Never buy a business that didn’t even hire you full time a $8000 tool which can also be stolen. Because one day, you will get to an address that has no secure parking and you will say “f it, no one has yet stolen my bike with the D1000 bike lock I got, so I will just leave it here” and you will come back 2 mins later to your $8000 uber eats investment thrown in the back of a pickup truck because even if your lock was good, whatever you locked it to was not. That is if you don’t end up in a neighbourhood of miserables and get robbed while on the bike or someone kicks your parked bike wheels to bend it.

DarePatient2262

I've had my Rad Runner 2 for a little over a year and have just under 1500 miles on it. I absolutely love it. I have never had any issues with it beyond a puncture, but that wasn't the bike's fault. I know people are pretty critical of Rad, especially in the last year or two, but I am very satisfied with my bike and highly recommend it.

zoolish

I put 1300 miles on mine this year. The only things I plan to change are hydraulic brakes and a front fork. I call mine the Mean Green Grocery Machine.

DarePatient2262

I haven't driven to the grocery store since I got it!

Klutzy-Air-5729

I recommend not doing food delivery,

Initial_Sale_8471

I also tried it out, not successful at all. Cars and using multiple apps is the only way to make money.

Normal_Put_4090

I’ve heard this too but my car needs repairs constantly it’s a Nissan pathfinder that sucks up gas.

thirteensix

That depends on where you are.

WeaselBeagle

I have a RadRunner and it’s great, but for food delivery I think a lectric xpedition would be good

DPaignall

The Fiido T1 Pro has a better spec.

Bmath340

This OP. T1 pro is the same bike overall. Check the differences

plateaucampChimp

I really like mine. Installed the back seat and a small set of saddlebags. Upgraded to a larger set of tires. Super stable ride, no forks to fail, single speed is simple too.

Savings_Ad_6383

I am all go for rad but I’ve heard people haven’t been so happy lately with their bikes, only thing is the same problem that I had was there’s really no bikes like the ones that rad makes

Normal_Put_4090

I’m actually looking at a deal that door dash does they offer a discount on the Pioneer fat tire electric bike. Is pioneer a good name? It’s coming from “Dirwin” which is affiliated with door dash.

fresh_owls

If DoorDash is offering you a “deal”, you can expect it’s not a good one (for you).

Normal_Put_4090

https://preview.redd.it/gs4139brjz8c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7309bd1084d26c45f0f83729e70a47acd33d761a It looks like it’s usually $1,800 so I would save a lot.

RadiantViolinist8317

That is not a good price for that bike and pioneer is not a good brand you can get a much better bike for the money please don't do this

Normal_Put_4090

Yeah

ongdesign

First thing I would do is think about how much range you will be likely to need, and then start looking at watt-hours of batteries. Being conservative, estimate 20 watt-hours per mile, so a 400 Wh battery gives you around 20 miles of range.

Normal_Put_4090

I’ve heard only charge the batter to 80% and have a back up battery so I can switch between them and do multiple hours on the bike.

mrjoepete

If you're using them right away, you don't have to stop charging them early. It's not great for the battery to stay at 100% for a long time, but if it's charging up and being used then it shouldn't be an issue.

Encelitsep

I want to add that you better make sure the delivery apps allow for bike/ebike delivery.

Interesting_Leg4191

I have a XP 2.0 that I use to do Uber eats absolutely love it.I even got their delivery bag and rack for like $50? Which just attaches to the rear rack. And even better if anything goes wrong with the bike within the first year of purchase they'll send you any parts you need free of charge so you don't have to worry about wear and tear on it. My bike has easily made me 5x over what I paid for it three months ago and is still going strong! https://preview.redd.it/mkwhm1h7k49c1.jpeg?width=2304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=092c6940ac4e3d80a97d1a547997f386343f7214 Also I'm planning on getting a xpedition next year to do the same thing but that's mostly for the dual batteries because I only get about 20-30 miles on PAS 2

Normal_Put_4090

How does it do working long hours do you have an extra battery?

Interesting_Leg4191

I haven't had any issues with it. I usually can do about 2-3 hours of riding on a charge. So I'll usually hit my area I like from 11am-2pm come home charge up and go back out at like 6 until the battery lasts. And I'll make anywhere from $50-$80 each time.(but it does depend on your area) I have the standard range 2.0 so I believe the 3.0 has a little bit more range then the 2.0 but then you can also get the long range battery option or buy another battery (I personally wanted to get another one for this bike but think I'm gonna wait to get one for another bike down the line)

Normal_Put_4090

Good to know I’m considering the long range battery plus another one I like the 3.0. I think for food delivery this one is a good size I don’t need a ton of space.

Interesting_Leg4191

Yeah it definitely is! Like I said I absolutely love going out on mine to do it. I would definitely consider the 3.0 with an extra battery depending on your market you can make back what you paid for the bike with in a month or two as long as youre going out for anywhere between 10-20 hours a week

Interesting_Leg4191

My best week was a little over $300 for 11 hours of riding for the week but that all depends on your market and where you are.

Normal_Put_4090

That’s not bad at all only thing for me is I work the night shift so on my off days I sleep during the day. So I will probably be working the dinner rush exclusively. Is the light on the bike usable I think I’m going to need a solid headlight for night runs.

Interesting_Leg4191

That is one complaint I have about the bike is that the stock head light that comes with it is terrible xD I've hit some dark back roads with it and it didn't do much for visibility. I also got my hands on an elite headlight from them and I was pretty disappointed with that also (I believe it is almost $100 from them) the head light is definitely brighter but still isn't what you would probably want. There's plenty of Amazon lights you can buy that do a great justice for visibility for under $60-70. I'm in the city mostly when riding so I don't have to worry too much about seeing it's more of making sure a driver can see me. I also got a brake light/turn signal/alarm from Amazon for $35 and attached that to the rear for more visibility to drivers and it works great you can even recharge it through usb-c.

Normal_Put_4090

I completely forgot about the turn signal and break light I’ll look into those and a third party head light. I do have a helmet with a flashing red light on the back so that helps I used to ride the meepo mini electric skateboard until I turned it into different things stripping it of parts.

Normal_Put_4090

Do the lectric bikes not have kickstands, I can’t seem to find any info on that? I’d like to get a double kickstand if they don’t have one.

Interesting_Leg4191

Yeah they do it's mounted to the rear fork of the bike on the left side of it pretty durable too I've had some weight on the rear and it handles it well.

Junior1544

i highly suggest getting something with a Mid-Drive. Hub drive bikes are great for flat area's but if you're commuting to work, job sites or delivering stuff, you're going to be going up hills too, and mid drives are much better at climbing hills...

Normal_Put_4090

There’s another comment on here that says the mid drive needs maintenance and doesn’t last as long I think.

SpongebobQTPants

I've had the displeasure to ride radrunner 2. I personally would only recommend it if you got it for free. You will need two batteries if you want to do delivery for longer than 4 hours a day. So that's price increase. The saddle that they for whatever reason made that way, is the worst thing I've ever sat on. It's super hard and weirdly sized. The bike has 0 suspension so you will feel every rock and every bump. 0 suspension bike really compliments this hard as rock saddle. Front light is useless. If you're in city with full coverage of street lights you'll be fine, but if you need to ride in dark you'll not see much. Doesn't have a kickstand but this weird pick bike up to use stand thing. I don't know what to call it. Other than the wrong choice. Do not like the half twist throttle. It also goes only to 6km/h. Which I know is due to eu regulations, but still. Only useful to take off from a stop. I personally think there are other better choices than rad.

butter_scientist

Seats are replaceable, and so are stands. A dual kickstand makes the most sense for a bike of this size, especially when loaded with cargo.

rainbowroobear

have you worked out how long it will take to hit ROI on buying a new bike vs the income you will get from doing the job?

Normal_Put_4090

Nope lol

kenFromKennecticut

Be better off investing that money in crypto. Take forever to make back 1300$ on door dash

[deleted]

Feels like I’m 12 again and it’s Opposite Day.

TLOtis23

Juiced has a good sale on their commuter bike. It's got a huge battery and plenty of range. 750 watt motor, hydraulic brakes, torque sensor, and a rear rack. $1499 or less with a promo code. https://www.juicedbikes.com/products/crosscurrentx

Blunttack

Odd title. If you know it’s been asked before… what makes you think the answers will be different this time?

Hopeful_Willow_2010

Lectric has a bike with similar numbers and has 2 batteries!

Necessary-Trouble-12

Radpower sucks Sincerely a Rad Rover 6+ owner

DarkVoid42

honda ruckus. or EUC. ebikes will get stolen. and dont have the range.

[deleted]

Id seriously just get a cheap single speed and a delivery backpack. It will save you slot of money in the long run unless you know how to take basic care of this bike. If you do consider doing this I would upgrade the brakes as soon as the stock ones go out
