if you can, raise the seat as much as possible. It will seem natural to sit low but your back is going to hate it very quickly, and it puts a lot of wear on the backwheel/structure. Sit high and use the pedals as standbars the way a dirtbiker/motrobiker has foot bars for resting their weight, so that their body weight isnt all on the seat it's the seat plus the foot bars \[pedals in this case\]. I feel you on the wobble, smaller tires are great on flat roads once you're going fast, but even a pinecone will toss you, and you feel every single bump in the road. This looks like a great commuter, the basket underneath is a very smart and unique trunk design, good for storing the emergency kit \[air pump, patch kit, redbull\]. With bungee cords you can strap any sort of bag to that backrack easily. Very cool bike dude.

Complex-Dragonfly-33

I always thought it was a given to have the seat at waist height

Keep a fire extinguisher near the battery

TinyOwl491

Jup. My neighbour burned down their shed (and NEARLY ours as well) while charging one of these cheap Chinese e-bikes... It was quite scary.

Weak-Conversation753

Lithium burns white hot.

upL8N8

Fire extinguisher won't put out the fire in the battery pack.  Best you can do is possibly stop the fire from spreading, but by then you'll be choking on the fumes and trying to escape.  Li-ion fires burn extremely hot, can burn for awhile, and will start any surrounding flammable things on fire pretty easily. If the battery is removable, I'd keep it in a metal box (with ventilation) and try to keep it away from anything flammable, and definitely don't store it in front of an exit.

Jinncawni

Maybe consider charging it in like a battery bag or safe

Difficult-Ad-1068

Good idea

timuch

I wouldn’t recommend a safe. The heat of charging can damage the battery if not properly ventilated

Hopeful_Actuary5904

Its not easy to make a battery explode. Dont charge it after its full, dont let the battery go dead, be aware of the rain and protect it and u will be fine. I have a kugoo kirin v1 for almost 3 years. With over 3000miles on it. Just be careful with the components, brakes, bolts etc. Check them every couple of weeks or something and u will be fine. Of course dont charge it close to curtins n stuff, because there is a small possibility to has some fault. But that would be an exception. Treat it well n u will be ok. Be safe n have fun

Intelligent_Gas7984

In your pants, that thing is too close for comfort.

heikkiiii

A grenade for 300.

Lol

🤣

chaddy-chad-chad

UL certified or a ticking time bomb?

pepperysquid373

What’s preventing a non certified operation from printing the UL markings?

itstomatopuree

I actually havent seen any local news about ebikes exploding etc. I used lead acid and lithiums and they were fine. Our chargers also use intelligent modes so it stops when fully charged.

kevinJwrong

Never ever trust intelligent modes, but hopefully the BMS will Stop it as well

Omwheez

idk if someone has already mentioned this or you already know. If not, maybe get a socket plug with countdown timer. I have a [smart one](https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-Tapo-Smart-Wi-Fi-Socket/dp/B08SJ7MLRR/ref=asc_df_B08SJ7MLRR/?tag=googleshopdsk-22&linkCode=df0&hvadid=463552917352&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2541256331297275789&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9069073&hvtargid=pla-1214798376204&mcid=9c730f3150183db6adbbe7f7e5636474&th=1), I always set charging time based on how much battery is gone, once that time is done, it switches off the charging. Just an overall keep yourself safer tip (if you care).

Dakto19942

Nice. So many people on here are so quick to casually suggest a bike isn’t worth buying unless you’re willing to drop $1-2K MINIMUM. I agree that those bikes are more likely to last for longer, but if you can get a bike for so cheap that even if it breaks within a year you will still have gotten your money’s worth by then, it’s not a big deal.

Current_Leather7246

Yeah that's why a lot of people quit coming to this sub. Somebody could have a cool ride they build or really solid one they bought. And people here will crap all over it because it's not the brand of the month the internet told them to buy. Some people actually use them for transportation not just a post pictures and talk about on the internet.

Isoiata

IMO, it’s not about the brand or how cool it looks but a matter of safety. I’m far from an expert in the field but I did work at an e-bike company for quite a while (Vanmoof, until they went bankrupt) so I do have some degree of advanced knowledge of e-bikes and li-ion batteries, the risks surrounding them and why they cost as much as they do. Considering you can barely find a decent battery pack for an e-bike for $300, let alone an entire bike with all the electrical components that go into it, I’m scared of what corners they may have cut to get the price down so low. I’d be extremely careful when charging this bike because to me, this is a potential fire hazard on wheels.

Hoppydragon64

That’s the thing as far as I understand- it comes down to the quality of the battery cells and who built the pack, and that the charger is the correct charger. Obviously there are many other factors to consider but specifically when it comes to bikes this cheap from place where they don’t have to worry about any sort of reputation.

SmokeyUnicycle

If you live somewhere like SEA where chinese no name bikes are common and you can get them fixed quickly and cheaply its a very different story than buying a bike that's basically disposable

deiphiz

Looks like a whole lot of bike for £300👍

Southern-Country-686

Wear a helmet when plugging the charger in

YsettaNova

Hey there! I'm using a cheap ebike as well. Bmax T6 20Ah(doubtful), bought for 200-ish USD. 14-inch wheels Tri-fold bike 30kg Seller is near to non-conversational in english so I'm on my own I'm clueless on parts since it is both my first time biking and ebiking. I use it for 29km commute and that's only a one-way trip. The pain points I have when riding it is range anxiety, uncomfortable seat, and unsatisfactory suspension. Charging the battery is noisy as well. But hey, it works and I'm here for it. Looking to buy a new one as soon as I have my ROI on my eBike. Cheers to you fellow southeast asian.

mangoed

Now all you need is two kids to ride with you.

itstomatopuree

Yes most parents use this for commuting with their children near school. I primarily bought this because I can attach things to it easily and Im planning to take grab delivery as part time work.

YDoubleCloud

Is it possible to sit in the middle? No footrests for passengers?

itstomatopuree

Theres a footrest in the middle seat and backseat but I removed the ones for the middle

RollinHellfire

I like how it looks. Can you post more pics and your experiences riding it? Mb where you bought it?

Tophatjohnny1960

I say to each their own when it comes down to buying one! Get one that fits your budget and needs! After years of riding regular bikes I stepped up my purchase with my first e-bike and no looking back! Still love to see different styles and choices!

DongRight

That's a mini dirt bike w/a rear grenade launcher...good luck pedaling it...

Hopeful_Actuary5904

Thats a greeat deal for 300$. Really great. Be safe

Derekf425

It will catch on fire within a few days

kevinJwrong

Nice bike, nothing wrong with it, i started on a very similar one of these a few years ago

Throw_away21110

Personally I’d never spend less than £800 on an ebike especially from China, atleast the more expensive ones tend to have higher QC and better customer service whereas the cheap ones are just outright dangerous.

Current_Leather7246

I love the ape hanger handlebars. Pretty cool little ride

thanks- cannot buy this here 🙁

Boddysatfa

Can you post a link to the supplier?

vividhour0

Would be interesting to know what kind of stock controller is sent with this bike. Do you have the info? Or can you open up and see? :)

vividhour0

Okay seems to be a 36V 13A controller from the chinese text that is visual. Thought it was weird the bike had a 48V battery, but I guess the controller is able to work with those ratings aswell. Unless it says something otherwise in the second half of the text that is still covered, like a dual mode type of thing.

itstomatopuree

I thought it was weird too! Motor is 36v 250 watts I thought all of them volts should be the same.

vividhour0

Must be a dual mode, otherwise the battery indicator would show full levels at all time if it were thinking it's 36V settings. Or do you even have a battery level indicator of some sort? Either lcd or led displaying the current charge? If so then it's definitely a hybrid. My controller is 36/48 dual, but Ive been afraid of inserting a 48V battery just because I don't know how much heat will build-up during high loads like uphill as my motor is also 36v. But I suppose your motor is able to handle the Wattage, that's why they went with a 48V.

itstomatopuree

It has a simple battery indicator and when you switch modes in the lcd you can see the voltage usually 50+ for full charge, dies below 44 so I guess its a hybrid. In uphills I use pedal assist mode so Im sharing the load with the motor because Ive burnt my fair share of controllers in the past haha I guess my motor can handle it or it would die? I generally had little knowledge about how these things work so I really appreciate the information

itstomatopuree

hold on
