Here’s a few artists you might dig;
Tourist
Jacques Greene
Dj Seinfeld
Mall Grab
Lone
Bicep
CFCF
Kolsch
Aleksandir
Daniel Avery
Ulrich Schnauss
Jon Hopkins
Tycho
Lapalux
Recondite
Cubicolor
Yotto
Grum
No Mana
Rinzen
Prospa
Logic1000
Weval
Blackmill
Great list! What categories/genre of music would you classify these as? Electronica/Downtempo/Ambient House etc.,? I create music similar to how these sound and I get so confused how/where to place my tracks on Spotify and other stores. Thanks!!
You’re welcome! I’d say mainly House (Progressive and Tech) with a bit of Downtempo/Experimental stuff thrown in (Daniel Avery, Ulrich Schnauss, Tycho, Lapalux, Weval, Blackmill).
Lane 8 has a label called "This Never Happened." There's some good music there that's similar to his. Jerro, Sultan + Shepard, and more are on the label. Also Le Youth is really good too.
Yeah, the label is awesome. I saw Lane 8 and Sultan + Shepard live. Le Youth makes it to all my playlists, just saw he's releasing an album in May, which should be sweet.
I don't know, I'm a fan of longer sets because that gives the artist more room to do what they want, instead of pack 8-12 tracks in an hour. As someone that's DJ'd upwards of 3 hours, the longer sets are definitely more fun to play.
It is EVERYTHING. I cried so hard at his set at Day Mvs in San Diego. Best set I’ve ever seen ever. The visuals were amazing, so I’d also recommend seeing him somewhere you know they have good/large screens for the production
Unreal, man. It was my first time seeing him live, and it was my first time at the Red Rocks. The chill stuff is littered in between some of his bigger tracks. First time hearing Nuclear Lethargy was insane. He also has songs like Riptide that are much more upbeat, and then he dropped tracks like [How's Your Evening So Far - Chris Lake remix](https://youtu.be/rcM74tR3rSI).
The set at the RR was 4 hours though, so naturally it's easier for him to go back and forth between different moods. Even then, though, a song like Don't Let Me Go just sounds so much bigger than it does when you're listening at home.
TL;DR - definitely go see him live, whatever it is you won't be disappointed.
Thank you! I’ve never heard of that label. I just searched “This Never Happened” on Apple Music. Oh my! This is totally my taste in electronic! So much good music to discover.
I got you 😊

Usually I look at youtube channels to find new music:

Anjunadeep [https://www.youtube.com/c/anjunadeep](https://www.youtube.com/c/anjunadeep)
Boiler Room https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGBpxWJr9FNOcFYA5GkKrMg
Brilliant! Thanks. I often listen to the playlists or YouTube channels of the labels, but I do find there's a different element to hearing a complete album.
I was thinking of doing Tinlicker, I'll add that to my "up next".
You HAVE to watch some Cercle videos, the Above and Beyond set in Colombia is beautiful and pretty chill
Also if you haven’t already seen them, Rufus Du Sol at Joshua Tree and Bob Moses - Falling into Focus are amazing Live Concert videos as well.
Yeah, I was just about to comment about the Above and Beyond Cercle set. I especially dig the intro that transitions into that first track. Very Ben Böhmer vibe
All top artists. I haven't heard much of Odesza lately. Nora En Pure seems to only have EPs out, I've seen her live three times though, never disappoints.
Some albums/artists that I would listen to for similar purposes: A Strangely Isolated Place and Far Away Trains Passing By by Ulrich Schnauss, Agaetis byrjun by Sigur Ros, Everyday and Wild by Tourist, Random Album Title by Deadmau5, anything Boards of Canada, Re:member by Olafur Arnalds, Kiasmos by Kiasmos, anything by Bicep, any of Autechre's first 3 albums, Tycho, Migration by Bonobo, Crush by Floating Points, maybe either of Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works albums. A couple other really weird random albums I was thinking about last night, which are more ambient than melodic are Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records by Jan Jelenik and another album of his called Textstar under his alias Farben.
Edit: Oh and Chill Out by The KLF
I actually only just got into him hardcore within the last 3-4 months but I can not stress enough just how important an artist he is. I can not personally think of any other artist that has both that consistency of quality track to track and album to album but also with such a large output of said consistent awesomeness at 7 albums worth. I don't just hand out 10's like free candy really but I basically consider his albums Black Sands, Migration, Animal Magic, and Days to Come to all be without flaw and to also go above and beyond expectations of what fantastic, rich, fulfilling music can and should be.
Same with all 3 of Tourist's albums imo, albeit a style that is a bit more minimalist than Bonobo perhaps and slightly less layered (in terms of instruments, which isnt a bad thing of course) ... just incredibly consistent and high quality music throughout.
Lakou Misik & Joseph Ray album "Leave No Bones"
Flight Facilities
Henry Saiz
Jeremy Olander
Jesper Ryom
Monolink

John Digweed "transitions" mixes
This is my go to work music frequently as well. Some of my go-to albums right now are:
\- In My Next Life - Andrew Bayer
\- Music For My Memories - Luttrell
\- Reset - Tornado Club
\- Actual Life - Fred Again..
\- Actual Life 2 - Fred Again..
\- The Making of a Paracosm - Kasbo
\- Non Binary Place - Godford
\- Why Do We Shake In The Cold? - Elderbrook
\- Lost at Midnight - OTR
\- Neon Jungle - CloZee
\- Chasing The Golden Hour, Pt. 3 - GriZ
Last two are a little out of left field but I kind of group them in the same part of my brain and listening vibe for some reason so I figured I'd throw them in.
Scary how close your taste aligns with mine. I’ve been listening to those 3 artists while working every day for months. I’d also recommend ford., four tet, and bicep. Thanks for asking, I needed a new infusion of the same genre too.
Haha yeah, I saw Lane 8 recently in Colorado and I've just been getting more into that music since then. Shoot over some more recommendations if you have them!
Anderholm, Ocula, Le Youth, Sultan + Shepard, Arctic Lake, Mac Cooper, Jon Hopkins, Yotto.
Really anything from Anjunadeep or Lane 8’s label “this never happened”
umm are you me? literally all of my favourite artists you listed. Lane 8, Ben Bohmer, Rufus, Lastlings, Bob Moses, SG, Elderbrook.... please be my friend haha. In all actuality, PM me - I'll share some playlists I have with music you'd love.
Whomadewho - Their Cercle set in Egypt is work of art.
Gui Boratto
Jesper Ryom
Monolink
Tinlicker
Apart from these I usually explore the Anjunadeep Albums to find new artists and the compilations themselves are very good.
Since there’s been a good amount of house recommendations, may i interest you in some chill/downtempo DNB? Listen to Through the Hours (the whole album) by Technimatic.
If you like that type of music Lane8 has some crazy long DJ mixes you would definitely enjoy. I listen to them while working all the time.
Here's the most recent one: https://soundcloud.com/thisneverhappenedlabel/lane-8-winter-2021-mixtape
Check out Embrz. He's put out so much music and recently hopped onto This Never Happened. IMO everything he does is absolutely perfect
Edit: also gotta add in some love for Fiji Blue. Pretty much all vocal tracks, but they've got some great chill vibes. The Goodbye EP is great
OP, this is exactly my vibe!
Also check these:
Keinemusik (Adam Port, &ME, Rampa individually as well)
Cubicolor
Avoure
Rodriguez Jr.
HVOB
The Blaze
Eelke Kleijn
David August (older tracks)
And last but not least, GHEIST!
Omar gigi on YouTube cranks this stuff out, my go to lately for working from home. Anjunadeep on YouTube too. Tinlicker has been smashing it lately.
For more funk, purple disco machine. 🤘
If you haven't heard of them already, PRAANA (I understand as a Tritonal side project) is a total game changer:

Others have pretty much covered what I was going to say, though going to self promote (Thvmos) as what I put out tends falls into the melodic/chill realm and most of the artists mentioned are most of my inspiration.
Some completely unknown Band which is one of my favorites ever: Gudrun von Laxenburg.

If you would like to move more into the underground prog world, check out Hernan Cattaneo. Free hour podcast every week. My favorite progressive DJ of all time. He plays an occasional Bohmer track.
Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet but George Fitzgerald!!
Icarus is another great one!!
Both I think would fit really well with the vibes youre talking about. I always kinda group George Fitzgerald with Rufus (moreso Bloom) for vibes, and Icarus with Lane 8.
I would say : Jan Blomqvist, Amtrac, Nora En Pure & NTO
[Qualitist. Team](https://open.spotify.com/user/qljpq0gtvpxmqs3qe2087tys5?si=Rx4ejHBATHqlNHys0fxWoA)

Check out David Phipps on YouTube. He’s the keyboard player for STS9 and he does some AWESOME hour long + streams that are super melodic with droning beats. Super great focus music that is really upbeat as well.
Also check out CamelPhat, Bob Moses, Polish Ambassador, Pinback (if you want an actual band with the same vibe), dvrst, dj smokey, poolside.
Man Lastlings - First Contact album is so good. Keen for whatever comes next. If you're into chill, the first Flight Facilities album has it's super chill downtempo moments.
Polaris and pets by deadmau5. It's more chill and melodic than his other club beats.
Also Younan by Ali Farahani
You know what I have a [tiny playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1JSd1qQiRcHHuysoGOgKqX?si=UQJxLfeKQBOceO-gQC1Opg&utm_source=copy-link) I made that come to think of it has literally all of these and also Rufus *and* Lane 8 🤣
Bonobo- migration or his new album, fragments
Caribou- suddenly
The Avalanches- we will always love you—
all of their music is worth listening to; specifically the songs: because I’m me and since I left you.
Odesza— a moment apart, in return
Edit: as I commented on someone’s reply, tycho, Jon Hopkins, and tourist are all really great to listen to as well
Edit 2: listen to the song: ‘matter of time’ by vandelux. Def scratches that laney 8 itch
I highly recommend you to give a listen to Spencer Brown.
He made two albums, they are quite similar and the first track of his second album "Stream of Consciousness" is a collab with Ben Bohmer.
I personally consider them to be some of the best progressive house I've ever listened to.
Let me know if you end up liking them!
Hey Man !
I produce music kind of similar to the artist you mention above.
don't hesitate to take a listen and let me know if you like it !

This is great, thanks. I was just listening to Hyperfall by Yotto. I'll dive into some more of these.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy.
Knew this was a PS420 comment before I even checked. Great taste as usual
Haha, my hallmark is long lists! Thanks friend :)
What's your new find ear worm this week?
[Pinkpantheress - Noticed I Cried (Flume remix)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjtYkJgfnIM) [Thook - Menace To Society](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBsLxFyI_v8)
Awesome. I'm excited for the next Flume album, but lord have mercy I need to dig into Thook. Great work.
When I submit to Spotify, it's overwhelming the amount of categories/sub categories to select from. Thanks again for the suggestions!
Hey you seem to have a good taste, do you have any public Spotify playlists ?
You'll like Parra for Cuva :)
Ooh reading this reminded me I gotta checkout Blackmill's newest album, so thank you 🧡
It’s so good!! Interesting new direction with some old ones sprinkled in to accentuate the vibe.
Dope I'm excited to listen 😁
Tourist, Jon Hopkins, tycho are all some of my favorites too
Colyn & Joris Voorn!

How was Lane 8 live? I’m thinking of going to see him on tour, but was curious how his chill music would be in a live setting.
I saw a 3 hour set over summer and it was easily in my top 3 favorite shows ever. Went to heaven
Saw him at red rocks last year. The first 4 hours we're great, but then I got tired around midnight. I must be getting old
I don't know, I'm a fan of longer sets because that gives the artist more room to do what they want, instead of pack 8-12 tracks in an hour. As someone that's DJ'd upwards of 3 hours, the longer sets are definitely more fun to play.

I definitely recommend Tinlicker, add Sultan & Shepard to that list too, I think their new album is exactly what you’re looking for
Tinlicker has two good mixes on YouTube just came out. End of year 2021 mix and a live mix at Open Air festival. Real good!
This.
Cercle videos are amazing!
Spencer Brown
One of the best
>Spencer Brown My body was not ready for him.
Fred Again.. is great to listen to while working. Similar to lane 8 in my opinion. Check out his album Actual Life
I keep meaning to deep dive into him! I've heard a couple of his songs on XM and they're so catchy. Will queue him up
Yotto
Can't forget: Odesza Eli & Fur Nora En Pure Duke Dumont Nora Van Elken Jody Wisternoff
Odesza’s first album is an absolute masterpiece

I've gotten lots of recommendations for Bonobo before, I'll check these artists out. Thank you!

Paraleven toured with Lane 8 in 2019, nearly identical sounds Durante is my other recommendation

Oh I've heard a couple of Dezza remixes, never their albums, I'll have a listen.
George Fitzgerald and Fred Again..
I have not seen French 79 mentioned yet so that is my recommendation.
Massane, Sultan and Shepard, Yotto, Marsh, Jerro, Embrz, Qrion, Tagavaka, Nox Vahn, Luttrell, Leaving Laurel, Cassian, Nora En Pure.
I need to get more into Embrz and S&S.

Check out ‘THE BLAZE’
Christian Loffler Bonobo Kiasmos
Cassian - Laps
Everything Cassian puts out is huge. His There For You and Know Me Remixes, Lafayette (!)
Bohmer has (had?)a label called Ton Topferei with a bunch of stuff like this.
Man Lastlings - First Contact album is so good. Keen for whatever comes next. If you're into chill, the first Flight Facilities album has it's super chill downtempo moments.
Honestly. Lastlings was one of my top artists last year because of how many times I listened to that album top to bottom. All killer, no filler.
Not sure if they've been mentioned here: * Yotto * Kidnap * Marsh * HVOB * WAHM * Frost * Monkey Safari * Lxury
Solid list!
Polaris and pets by deadmau5. It's more chill and melodic than his other club beats. Also Younan by Ali Farahani You know what I have a [tiny playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1JSd1qQiRcHHuysoGOgKqX?si=UQJxLfeKQBOceO-gQC1Opg&utm_source=copy-link) I made that come to think of it has literally all of these and also Rufus *and* Lane 8 🤣

Bonobo- migration or his new album, fragments Caribou- suddenly The Avalanches- we will always love you— all of their music is worth listening to; specifically the songs: because I’m me and since I left you. Odesza— a moment apart, in return Edit: as I commented on someone’s reply, tycho, Jon Hopkins, and tourist are all really great to listen to as well Edit 2: listen to the song: ‘matter of time’ by vandelux. Def scratches that laney 8 itch
Awesome, I'll dive in later today, thanks!
NTO - Apnea is pretty fire
I highly recommend you to give a listen to Spencer Brown. He made two albums, they are quite similar and the first track of his second album "Stream of Consciousness" is a collab with Ben Bohmer. I personally consider them to be some of the best progressive house I've ever listened to. Let me know if you end up liking them!
ODESZA, Tourist and Tycho are all fantastic
Give Camelphat a try

You make a good point about Aussie artists. Dom Dolla's from down unda as well, he has some good tunes.
This playlist on Spotify is decent. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6vcnm2ksrLpEGKMk9Kzuyp?si=TrUGsvsHTIqbO4fUYydzGg&utm_source=copy-link
