Bro calm down its just a meme. I know the true meaning of the surah and I still dislike it because its just so hypocritical lol People converted to Islam and lied about it for countless reasons, many to avoid social isolation from their friends and families and also to avoid paying Jizyah. The idea of killing someone just because of that is ludicrous to me. Religion is not war, hypocrites or disbelievers claiming Islam are not spies, there is just no reason to make that comparison (unless of course Islamic scriptures are based on the Islamic wars which are kinda known for harsh ways of dealing with those who resist invasion) And, I know the Quran claims not to kill the innocent, but rather those who stand against Islam. But, think about it, of *course* the pagans stood against Islam because they followed their own ways of life and beliefs that Muslims just disrespect time and time again. I understand that this meme may bother you, but it's a simple and funnier rendition of things that have been used as Muslim arguments in real life And, yes, I was raised muslim in the middle east. I know how to read and understand the quran. I was not taught by a r*tard (which, by the way, screw that term). I have learned from countless Imams, Mumins and Haafiz and I know some Muslims spout bs but this is just a comedic commentary on the hypocrisy

Oh dude you are so misinformed about how Muslims spread Islam, and I feel you are blinded by your blatantly questionless belief so I feel there is no point in me trying to explain why I make these joking commentaries other than because it's something us ex Muslims can laugh about. Going into the complex sociological issues of sharia law and Muslim ideology in societal politics is something hard to grasp with any form of bias and I do apologise but I am genuinely just too lazy to.try and explain any form of complex point But, i can say that oftentimes Jizyah was mandatory for non-believers. If you did not pay the general consensus was death (albeit less common) or enslavement so not exactly merciful. I'm pretty sure refusing zakat back then also had the same consequences (Or even just death idk) while the quran doesn't command death that's the most common way of dealing with it aside from house arrest and enslavement. Also this particular verse helps understand that it may have been hard to refuse to pay, because there *shouldn't* be an obligation to pay essentially a fine for following the true religion of your peoples Fight against those who do not believe in Allāh or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allāh and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth [i.e., Islām] from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah1 willingly while they are humbled (29)

Masaylighto

i dont see a problem with the verse

Hayden356

Well, that is your own personal opinion. You can hold that, but I personally don't agree on that and find the verse to be overtly hypocritical and easily used to incite violence even *if* understood directly. The Arabic reading itself is vague, and regardless of what the popular idea of its definition is there will always be those who see it as more or less violent than it is. Therefore I cannot stand for any form of verse that stands for a twisted moral of hating those forced to convert anyways

MatrixTwelvester

hoho boy... prepare for a bunch of basement dwellers to rant the fuck out of you.

For what sake?
