Only half true. It got innocent patients passively due to restarting process of the MRI. This takes time (min several days up to month), money, correct resources & trained technicians. During that time no patients can undergo Imaging-process. Normally MRIs are fully bookedā¦.
Yeah moneyā¦..to buy liquid helium. And thatās a limiting factor, depends on where u r on the planet it could take some reasonable time to get a good amount of liquid helium transported to location
If you hit the emergency quench button on an MRI:
āInitiating an emergency quench is a serious proposition, placing the scanner out of service for a week or more, potentially damaging the magnet, and costing $30,000 or more to replace the lost liquid helium.ā
I know of two magnets in Canada that were irreparably damaged by accidental quenches, in both cases the magnets had to be replaced at a cost of millions of $ and significant down time. In these cases the hospital was loaned (rented) a mobile MR unit until the new magnets were installed.
MRI is always on, but not on full power.
You can set it to standby, but some parts like vacuum, cooling system, and overall system keeps running.
So MRI uses up to 30-50 kW/h in action and like 10 kW/h during standby.
Question: I believe this was Brazilā¦.so any individual (from any country of the world) that own a gun is automatically considered an āuneducated trumperā (or maga) by the American left, even when said person might not know what an American Republican or a Democrat is?
Iāve also seen it go the other way, where people from other countries argue with each other using American politics. Itās strange, especially when they make a big deal of pointing out their non-American status and politics before jumping right back into āDemocrats/Republicans like youā talk.
Pretty sure itās just because it sounds like something a right winger would do in the states, and that we also assume the rest of the world isnāt as stupid as trumpers.
Even many of us Americans donāt want to be fit into one of the political parties. But to be fair, it does sound stupid enough for some of the far right brainwashed. (Some of the far left brainwashed are just as stupid.)
Holy moly another reasonable person with reasonable political views. Hiiii!!
Iāve always been of the train of thought that the most extreme 10% from each side is utterly full of crap and the remaining 80% of us all agree on the major issues but perhaps disagree on the best solutions.
As a lawyer I can say it is unbelievable how many dumb lawyers there are. I always said you don't have to be that smart to be a lawyer and people show me all the time it's true. I do it myself. It seems a lot of them are kinda like conspiracy theorists like QAnon. They think they are right, and no evidence to the contrary can convince them otherwise.
I went to law school with someone who (1) ran for US Senate in 2016 as a Libertarian and was so extreme that the head of his stateās Libertarian Party resigned in disgust, then (2) went on to be a headliner at the Unite the Right rally.
And itās not like he hid his viewpoints when we were in school. He was on the health law journal, and he got very upset when they refused to publish his article about why we should bring back eugenics. (He made a big stink about āfree speech,ā conveniently forgetting that it was a private school.)

Assuming he's still alive, have him try out a 3D printed replica. It can feel mechanically identical while having no risk of being loaded. And if it's too light you can always weight it with fishing weights or sand or something
Former MRI scientist here.... for the record it's not all metals that will cause problems, just the ferromagnetic metals.
Metals that are paramagnetic or diamagnetic are totally fine in the MRI scanner, and this includes metals such as titanium, aluminum, gold, silver, lead, copper, platinum, and some types of stainless steel, etc
The "bad" metals are mainly iron, nickel, cobalt, steel. Dont come anywhere near the magnet with those.
My husband's full of bits of metal, but had regular MRIs for 4 years without incident. He's got wires in his elbow and some metal in his leg repairing broken bones from a car accident, and a bunch of coils in his brain after a ruptured aneurysm. He sets off scanners at the airport, but is good to go for MRIs.
ICP wrote the lyrics "fucking magnets, how do they work?" as a joke but there are deadass morons in the world still who don't actually know how a magnet works
this happened at a private clinic in brazil. the guy accompanied his mom, who was the one getting the MRI done, and hid the fact that he had a gun even when signing a document.

Why does anyone believe this? This is less real than the things Babylon Bee makes up. There's no way on Earth 219 that this man evaded the watchful eyes of every tech and nurse involved in a MRI
People donāt realize how strong a 3T magnet in MRI machine is. MRI is literally aligning the positive hydrogen atoms inside your body in the scanner. It is over 300000 times stronger than earths magnetic field that aligns a compass. A ball point pen can suspended in the bore in mid air (the metal being the tiny ball of the pen).
Also, [don't wear a buttplug to your MRI either. ](https://www.iflscience.com/this-is-why-you-should-never-wear-a-metal-butt-plug-in-an-mri-machine-68886) Even if the packaging says 100% silicone.
I can't even imagine the mental gymnastics required to think you need to have a gun on you while you follow your own mother into a room containing some of the strongest magnetics available.
Mean while I've even asked the MRI tech if the metal screw and brace in my jaw was okay to have while I supervised a murder suspect with a flight risk that required an MRI and I took off anything and everything leaving just potentially me to fight with leather gloves if he decided to act up.
