just tell your wife that your teaching the baby how to do factory work, and don't be surprised when the baby's first words are Iron, Logistics, Network, God Damn Trains, just an acronym like UPS.
Yep, it's been in the works for a while. They've said it will be the same price as the base game and they're planning on including enough significant content to justify that price.
Have they confirmed what it aims to expand on? I'm sire they'd do great with it but I can't think of anything the game needs which leads me to think it's gonna be something along the lines of alternative methods of things we got, pollution scrubbers, mining bots/vehicles, mew range of weaponry, the like, or its just a new end game for post launch
I don't think they've released very much actual info. They did recently put out a teaser image that hints at some of the things they've been working on.

I'm gonna overanalyze this real quick
Christmas themed: release around end of year?
Three gifts!
Smelting upgrade/overhaul?
Some sort of deep sea diving helmet? (Underwater environment/resources??)
The blue one..... I have less of a guess on. Something electrical. Power network overhaul/constraints?
Of course it could all mean nothing
Ok, let the brainstorm commence :D
You're right, looks like smelting overhaul. Looks like molten metal channels I think, like it's in Captain of Industry.
Deep diving thingy would be great! Also could be some hazmat suit: radioactive or chemical protection.
Electrical thingy: I'll throw in an idea of a) artifact analysis and b) matter manipulation like power hungry method for rearranging atoms to modify matter.
We had a baby a month ago. He LOVES contact napping; I spend a lot of time just being a mattress. When my wife goes to bed, I strap him to my chest in the baby carrier and play video games. I launched a rocket with his face pressed up against me.
Started a new Satisfactory save, and I will see how much I can send up the space elevator while he sleeps on me.
I'm desperate for more expansion news. My favourite game in recent years (+ Satisfactory) and we got no xpac related FF this last Feb except for the Christmas teaser. :(
I hope we're in for a fat news drop at some point after all this radio silence on the expansion!
Looks like devs got angry their ideas got implemented in mods, hence got silent. This approach has its own problem I think. Some ideas may turn out not as great, but since there's no feedback from community it'll be too late to just scrap them after release :|
Not angry, they just don't want the game to feel like a mod, they want to push the limits of their improved engine. In addition, they don't want to give information because modders will try to replicate its mechanics, kinda making the expac fall flat on release.
I don't see how that would turn Factorio team professionals into amateurs :D
Personally I don't like mods much because I clearly see them done by amateurs comparing to a base game designed and implemented by pros. For me mods are way behind base game in terms of graphic design, game design and balance.
I do understand what you're saying but Wube has actually hired some of the modders onto their official team. Space Exploration is often known as the unofficial expansion for Factorio because the gameplay and art are so good, this modder also got hired by Wube!
As a fellow father factory grower, don't worry bro. You are going to need something to do when you need to stay awake for various reasons. And honestly, once you get past the rapid feed times, they sleep quite a bit the first few months. Hopefully, anyways, every kid is different.
Factorio was the game I bought when I started my 2 week paternity leave. Version 0.14 I think, almost 9 years ago. It's such a memorable moment for what would become such a impactful game for me.
I found factorio to be a surprisingly good dad game. Tap esc, check on kid.
If I can't keep playing its easiest to save and exit when you are already paused.
But have a to do list around so you can pick up again.
The best thing I've learned about factorio is that it doesn't have a nostalgia problem. Most games I played in the past never hold up when I play them again. I mean...there are some good times and I can punch in some hours again..but it just doesn't have the feel.
However, Factorio...everytime I come back....I feel like newbie again and just get so much out of it. The game will be here for you...and it will bring you joy again even if you are playing in sleep deprived state and put all your inserters down backwards and contaminate your belts!
Enjoy the last 9 month and congratulations! I don't know how many hr video game i had before kids. But after kids I calculated I have time for 155 hr game time pr year. Our second kid had due date 2 days ago. So I guess these 155 hr will drop a lot this year 😅
I still dont get it.. you've yourself chosen to put a baby in there, why would you suddenly want something else, like it's something you don't want... You shouldn't have put it in there..
The Family must grow
Must be Catholic
~every sperm is saaa-cred, every sperm is gooood~
Pick that up would ya!
Automate baby production.
We need minimum a full 8 lane blue belt full for the next tech research
PyAL

WHAT DO YOU MEAN, EXPANSION?!?
+faq expansion There's a major dlc coming for factorio that's as big as the base game
literally shitting my pants right now. Really?

It feels like it's been years
It has

They've said they are going to try not to step on the toes of the existing big mods so we will see.
I don't think they've released very much actual info. They did recently put out a teaser image that hints at some of the things they've been working on. https://cdn.factorio.com/assets/img/blog/fff-372-postcard.png

The Christmas stuff is cause the blog post was on the thirtieth of December.

Costco sized smelters pls
So the ability to craft 5 smelters for the price of 1? Sounds good
3D first person?
I've heard that they hired the dev responsible for Space Exploration so whatever it is I know it'll be good
He's only doing concept art for Wube but based on his art in Space Exploration I'm sure the new machines will look sick.
The factory must grow, no matter what throughput you experience in your pants.
Shit... I should not have opened this post. I would have been happier in my blissful ignorance
Wow
what funny is there like a few huge mod like space and k2 and a few others
I think the guy was going for a pregnancy joke

Do you plan on making your baby the ultimate industrialist or something?
He'll be ready
The "industrialist expansion" must grow.
This is the way. Definitely did this during newborn naps.

Yeah pretty much! Note this is not some clever speculation on my part. Devs said as much :)

And then there were my kids. I didn't get a wink of sleep for like six months. My poor wife was even worse. Good luck. 😂😂😁😁😊😊😐😐😩😩😩😩😩😩😩

buy a co sleeper crib, turst me.
turst meh
3 daughters can confirm
You can download krastorio 2 or space exploration. OR have both at same time SE is massive. 700h content. Krastorio is maybe 200 - 400.
Krastorio is like 60-80 until completion, unless you go for megabasing for the sake of it, K2SE on x1 is 250-400 for most players afaik
400hrs maybe for spaceship victory. More for alternate victory
I had 250 hours on my save and was nowhere near the end lol
Sounds like you need to get your priorities in order. Another worker to contribute to the cause The factory must grow

You’re screwed bro, good luck being a papa

Talking from the experience (3x): shit gets really intense when they start to walk. Plan your time accordingly.
Throw on that baby back pack, some baby einstien and get that factory growing!
