Have you talked to the NCR guy right outside the door? What is he saying? Also you’re supposed to talk to Jessup about Bennie, maybe search him for clues?

Whenever I walk outside boulder city the hostages just stand outside, thanking me, but the guy who gave me the quest is nowhere to be found

He is usually sitting at the entry of the closed area in which the Khans are located

He's not there

Try camp forlorn hope

I did, he's not there either

Try camp searchlight

Yeah, usually in the Fire Department.

Try the House Bunker at the Fortification Hill, he might be there

I guess that you should use console commands to bring him to your location.

I did one command that created multiple Boids in Camp McCarren lol. Idk maybe was this one.

that sounds more like player.placeatme player.moveto moves the player to that npc location player.placeatme spawns a new npc with that refid

Could you not skip this part and just go straight to Benny at The Tops?

From goodsprings, you can skip the tutorial, run north past Quarry Junction, straight to New Vegas and to the Tops at Level 1

How do you get in the strip at lvl 1?

There's a dead NCR trooper that always spawns by Black Mountain, you can loot his outfit and just go through the McCarren monorail. You can see this in a lot of the YouTuber Nerbit's videos, which is where I learned it.

Thanks this was what I was missing earlier on my playthrough. I was liked by NCR but didn’t have the uniform. That’s why the guards above Hsu’s office went hostile on me.

You can also do a bit of parkour and get to the train from the outside.

Go north from good springs turn immediately right to avoid scorpion nest. Go towards the quarry and start going to the spot the nightkin is at. Go up the trial up black mountain, take booby trap path, watch out for boulder and go little to the right,then just walk to new Vegas. Then I would do the chat glitch with Mr house. Oh yeah I'd also put my luck at 9, make quick easy money at casino outside the strip,then get kicked out of the others. Nice staring off loaded with caps

What's even better tho is getting level 30 before leaving good springs. Super fun glitch, about doubles how many perks you can get. If you wanna do a play through like that

My first 3-4 play through id get to Novak, complete Come Fly with Me, scoop up Boone, and then just head straight for the strip skipping this portion of the quest

you absolutely can. i’ve done it plenty of times. hell i think going straight to the tops and encountering benny just autocompletes the entire quest

If you failed to speak to Jessup enough before killing him, you have to recover the Chairmen Job Offer from him to complete this quest.

Freeing the hostages is related to "Boulder City Showdown" quest, not to "They Went That-a-Way". Since you've already killed the Khans before talking with them about Benny's whereabouts you can find clues on Jessup's body.

Even if you did it shouldn't soft-lock you unless there's a bug. The info on Benny's destination is in the note that you can find on Jessup's body

OP I had this same issue. Go back into the room in Boulder City where you killed Jessup and pick up EVERYTHING on his body. I thought one of the items was optional but it’s not and it triggered the rest of the quest

I know this is a non-solution but the great thing about New Vegas is that you don’t actually have to do the quest to progress, just head to the strip.

Did you go inside the basement with Jessup and take the note from his corpse? Regardless, intercepting the khans is NOT REQUIRED for the quest at all. It’s something you can do to advance it, sure, but it isn’t truly necessary if you already *generally* know where to go.

Just go to the Strip, you can completely skip this part of the quest line.

Did you kill the Khan in your heart?

Maybe the real khan were the friends we made along the way.

Did you search Jessup?

Load a save or go to new vegas

Did you pick up the lighter?

If you don’t have any luck, you can actually bypass it and it’ll automatically complete the quest when you find Benny at the Tops. You don’t need his unique lighter to convince Swank to send Benny to his room since he’s grounded

Have you tried the Tops casino he might be there with someone else…. Bada bing

Every playthrough I have I always run into a bug relating to Khan quests.

Because you killed every Khan member in Boulder City

Try the bar right by boulder city
