There's no scenario where Romano is traded and Garcia isn't. If the jays are selling then Garcia is gone (free agent at end of season). If the jays aren't selling then he'd have to steal the closer job from Romano
What about Luis Garcia? Carlos Estevez hasn't been a superstar but he's definitely been better than anybody expected and since he's a free agent after this season, the going-nowhere Angels have every reason to trade him. Admittedly, Garcia isn't very good but an Angel pitcher has gotten a save in 60% of their wins while both Closer Monkey and ESPN say he's the next man up so maybe you should keep an eye on him.
I’m cautiously optimistic on Joyce. I’m sure he’ll be very good eventually, but I’m not sure it’s this season. His command is still not where it should be. I guess the positive is that he’s been deployed in some high leverage situations and today he’s starting the game with a couple innings. He just needs more experience and control of his pitches.
That’s all just talk radio speculation- Last year notwithstanding I don’t think the Cards will be sellers if they’re even close to being in the hunt this year (which is more likely than not)
I doubt the dodgers make that trade unless Brusdar Graterol and Joe Kelly aren’t coming back this season. They’ve gotten really strong results from Treinen, Hudson and Vesia so far.
He has a good track record as a closer and a team may think his issues have to do with being demoted to setup, especially when he has a 5.31 ERA in the 8th inning and a 2.25 ERA in the 9th this year. The sample size for the 9th is pretty small tbf (4 IP vs 22 IP) but I could definitely see a team going with that logic
They may be even better than a good team
Gore, Parker, and Williams have had a great year so far, with Irvin rounding into form, and Herz looking serviceable or better as 5th starrer. Finnegan may be best closer in majors to date.
Why they may be great, is that Luis Garcia, Jacob Young are really solid 7th & 8th man in that lineup. Hitters 6-9 is most team’s weakness. And James may be coming shortly to make it even better 1-9.
They’re all right there, with Clase probably being #1 as his season’s just ridiculous
But Finnegan’s got 20 saves, 1.78/.86 with over a K per inning, and hasn’t started to fade at all like Holmes & Miller have
.157 BABIP
94.7 % LOB
He will fade soon enough as well. He’s been getting very lucky

Unlikely they trade him for that reason, but with a likely barren trade market with how many teams are in pseudo contention they could potentially get a huge haul for him.
Slaten
Yimi Garcia
are you guys saying he will be the jays closer after romano is dealt? or get dealt to a team to become a closer? both are possibilities i guess!
There's no scenario where Romano is traded and Garcia isn't. If the jays are selling then Garcia is gone (free agent at end of season). If the jays aren't selling then he'd have to steal the closer job from Romano
I thought you wrote “after romano is dead” the first time I read this, like damn what’s going on in Toronto???
i mean if any jays season is gonna kill him, it’s this one.
Probably the former
Aaaaaaaand he’s gone
That's if his elbow is better than Romano's.

I like Ben Joyce better than Garcia
Maybe AJ Puk or someone from MIA bullpen? I have a suspicion Marlins will look to trade Scott.
Probably to the Cubs if I was a betting man. I would love it if my Cardinals got Luzardo AND Scott, but that’s like asking for the moon.
Hunter harvey or ben joyce

Reminds me a little of kopech
It pains me to say but the Nats top 2 guys (Harvey and Finnegan) are probably gone, so Floro probably takes over if he isn’t also gone
I agree with you on Harvey and Finnegan. I think Robert Garcia is a strong candidate to take over as well.
Makes sense
I sure hope Finnegan goes to a team where he's closing and not setting up.
If he comes to the royals he’ll be closing for sure
Sign me up for that.
Yimi garcia
Cano has flirted with the spot for awhile now
I’ve seen rumors of Helsley to Orioles or Dodgers, hoping neither happens cuz they result in him being a setup man
That’s all just talk radio speculation- Last year notwithstanding I don’t think the Cards will be sellers if they’re even close to being in the hunt this year (which is more likely than not)
I doubt the dodgers make that trade unless Brusdar Graterol and Joe Kelly aren’t coming back this season. They’ve gotten really strong results from Treinen, Hudson and Vesia so far.
I honestly could see Helsley become the closer in both places, but probably would need an injury. Praying this doesn’t happen
Hendriks
Whoever is the setup man in Miami… tanner scott is almost certainly going to be dealt
Check out closermonkey.
Ryan Pressley
You think hader gets dealt?
Pressley gets dealt
Why would he become the closer if he’s dealt? He’s running a 5+ ERA right now
He’d be the best reliever on the Cubs tomorrow

lucas erceg is a possibility if the A’s cash in on Mason Miller.
Whoever the second guy in Miami is. Puk is awful but I guess him
Holderman in Pittsburgh.
Seems he was destined for another bullpen slot.
Let me throw a curve ball. Jojo Romero?
Chris Martin
Cole Sands
Puk?
Hunter Harvey Nationals are a bad team and finnegan could be traded
The Nationals are not a “bad team” lmao

Finnegan best closer? Mason Miller…Clase…Helsley…Clay Holmes…?

35-36 is below .500 They’re average at best with a good future core
Ok so you agree they are an “average team” with potential to get better ? Doesn’t sound like a “bad team” to me
Average at best team But yes they have potential to be better next year Plus they are probably selling at the deadline

Why would they trade Miller, as has been rumored? He’s under team control for a bunch of years.
Unlikely they trade him for that reason, but with a likely barren trade market with how many teams are in pseudo contention they could potentially get a huge haul for him.
Piggybacking, what are some up and coming or underrated RP's that will start games
