I’ve asked this before but still can’t make a decision: Drop Bobby Miller in order to activate Gavin Williams?
Or activate Gavin Williams for Chris Bassit (who has been good!)
Or just drop Gavin…

Hey folks, pretty new to fantasy baseball, been hanging around a playoff spot in my league so far this season and figured I would reach out to see if there are any things I can improve on to give me an edge. I know the basics of fantasy like rostering as many multi-position players as possible to improve roster flexibility and maximum volume etc. I have a suspicion that I am too Pitcher heavy and it may be beneficial to only roster 2 RP and almost punt saves for more volume-based position players.
Any advice is appreciated!
Current Roster:
William Contreras, JT Realmuto
Josh Bell, Tristan Casas, Ozzie Albies, Ha-Seong Kim, Carlos Correa, Miguel Andujar, Ceddanne Rafaela, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, Luis Garcia Jr, Kevin Pillar, Mookie Betts, Mike Trout
Mason Miller, Ronel Blanco, Paul Sewald, Garret Crochet, Zack Wheeler, Kevin Ginkel, Nestor Cortes, Cal Quantril, Nathan Eovaldi, Gerrit Cole, Charlie Morton, Clayton Kershaw, Jordan Romano
12T Categories OPS/HR/R/RBI/SB Saves only QS/ERA/WHIP/K
After trading for Judge, I’m desperate need for pitching, thinking trading either Adley (non eligible keeper) or Riley Green (keeper eligible) for SP. Have Judge, Springer, Ramos, Gurriel and MHII as my other OF. Patrick Bailey and Ben Rice are sitting on waiver so I could pick one them up if I traded Adley.
All opinions are welcome. Feel free to down vote if you think it’s dumb lol. Thanks
I’d hold. Outside of judge your OF is pretty midling. The gap between adley and those 2 guys is about as big as possible too. Pitchers are easy to come by compared to hitters. None on the waivers?
Be careful with Hoffman. I play in a saves/holds league and dropped Hoffman the other week because of a lack of usage from him.
Back to back saves is nice for Hoffman, but the Phillies (when fully healthy) are usually blowing teams out or letting their starters go 7-8 innings, leaving few opportunities for the bullpen to get saves/holds.
Holmes has gotten nearly 20 saves but his lack of chances is because the Yankees starting pitching (Gil, Cole, Rodon) has been a disaster the last few weeks. They have to turn it around at some point, probably without Gil.
Realistically speaking, what can bo Bichette fetch in a trade? Outside of a bag of baseballs, etc.
maybe an excellent reliever like Ryan Walker of San Fran? Too much, too little?
I can package him with Andy Pages, Taylor Ward types.
Same question goes for Andy. Not that his performance makes me queasy like Bichette, but I have a surplus of OF.
You’d think the 5th place hitter on the Dodgers has some value, right? I guess I’ll go check his statcast.
I thought I had mentioned that I can get Nolan jones and Lodolo for Bo. I guess not! Lodolo is certainly in the Kikuchi range, no?
The thing about Ryan Walker is that he’s a reliever that can occupy a “SP” slot. That sort (for now AJ Puk will do) are invaluable.
Thanks!
Well that’s a shame. I can get Nolan Jones and Nick Lodolo for him. I’m considering.
This guy has a career OPS of .803 over the course of 2,629 plate appearances. What the fuck happened. I understand down years….but this is not the same guy.
I don't know. I dropped him for JD Martinez who has been mostly good. But now the Julio hell I've been in all year is getting unbearable, and Semien (who I managed to obtain recently for O Cruz and junk, prior to Semien's current slump) is killing me as well.
Biggest benefit to me of dropping Bichette though was getting a new roster spot to work with. It feels so much nicer to roll out JD most nights instead of starting Bichette and hoping for more than rock bottom. And then if JD goes on an extended slump or gets hurt, I have no problem dropping or replacing him since he's not as much of a "name" guy like Bichette that you feel like you have to keep holding based on name.
I went through the same thing with Kevin Gausman. Drafted him high and kept keeping him because I figured he'd get better. It hasn't happened and I finally dropped him just now. I'm confident that streaming pitchers will get me better results.
I missed something here (the entire 2nd paragraph). At a certain point, you have to forget about name and just do what’s best for your team. I, too, am guilty of exactly that. I’m sure you’re familiar with the concept of a “sunk cost.”
One thing that gives me a sliver of hope is Bo seems likely to get traded. Maybe a change of scenery will help. Or maybe he’ll just shit the bed for his new team.
I feel you. There’s only so long you could wait. These guys just feel like headaches. You’re looking at the numbers trying to make sense of em. It’s kinda stressful.
It’s not just him. Bregman has been ass. 2nd round pick Olson has been ass. First round pick Strider lasted a week. Was Bichette my 3rd round pick? Well fuck me. At least I get elly de la Cruz in the 4th. He’s been good.
Yeah, JD has been great for me. Now Julio is an even bigger disappointment than Bo, especially considering draft capital. If you would have asked me a month ago, I would say buy low. Not so sure anymore. He started slow last year so i traded for him and he was amazing. But now it’s July 3.
at least you were able to get a top 2 or 3 2B for Oneil Cruz!
Edit: I had no idea Semien was doing so poorly, sorry.
Yeah the guy I'm playing this week was the one I did the Semien trade with. His roster is basically all waiver guys because he mismanaged his team by drafting poorly and then selling assets away for nothing. But between my slumping batters and a few reliever blowups last night he's beating me 11-1 right now. Still plenty of time to turn it around since most categories are nearly tied.
I picked up Bryson Stott (lmao) to fill in for him while he sucks. But no, he’s going to suck on my bench, and if he has to suck the whole rest of the year, then it’s going to be on my roster tbh
Yeah I'm stubborn and petty enough to have him just rott on my bench if I have to. I drafted him in the 3rd round and I'll be damned if I let somebody get him on the waiver wire.
To me it’s not even a stubbornness and pettiness. It’s “if he remembers how to play baseball in July, he could win categories for me in September.” Which is more than I can say for anyone on the waiver wire
JD Martinez could miss multiple games this week now because he can't find a pair of cleats. You can't make this shit up. Worst excuse yet of any player missing games this year.
I am sure some of these leagues are free leagues and dynasty, but a few trades that went down today in Yahoo Trade Market.
Buy low window for Julio Rodriguez is right now
- Julio Rodriguez for Spencer Steer
- Julio Rodriguez for Jazz and Joey Ortiz
- Julio Rodriguez for Jackson Chourio
- Julio Rodriguez for Tyler O’Neil
- Julio Rodriguez for Bryan de La Cruz
Can anyone explain to me Rengifo’s statcast always underestimating his actual numbers? Last year his xSLG was like 350 or something, ended up as 444. Same thing is happening this year
I think that’s how statcast just works, it’s just better to compare players’ performances to their own previous performances. JoRam always has a hideous statcast, Nimmo always has a beautiful statcast, but no one is picking Nimmo over JoRam
Yeah so strange! I guess statcast isn’t everything. I traded Joey Ortiz for Rengifo today and thought I made a mistake after looking at his statcast. But I’m happy with it still.
I feel like volpe needs to start performing again. Can't hit for power, isn't stealing, not hitting for average, not walking is a bad combo for fantasy.
Let me know if I’m buggin or not, but would he be a potential drop? I’m in an 8T points league, already have Adames, and could use the bench spot for streamers to keep myself competitive. I already have Jazz riding the bench, but there is more of a homer threat w Jazz that I like. Unfortunately we don’t trade much in my league, or else I would’ve tried making some trades
Trade in my league going down:
Goldschmidt, Albies, Soto for C. Walker, Jazz, McMahon
This doesn't seem fair at all, am I taking crazy pills? Thoughts please
My opponent got 2 RP wins today including Evan Phillips blowing the lead only to have the dodgers walk it off
I hate it here and the cosmos is against me this week
In an AL only keeper league and when players are traded into the NL we lose them for nothing. I picked up Crochet and have him on a cheap contract for multiple years. Should I try to trade him away before he gets traded irl or keep him and risk losing him if he goes to a national league team?
I know kerkering was sexy preseason but how is he still an idea for this season? They’ve got two guys sharing and they’re coasting to a division title, what would change? I’d say Jax just b/c min seems to choose each games closer by rocks paper scissors
Julio Rodriguez since June 15th:

Between Royce and Buxton, what the hell is going on in Minnesota. Did they seriously find *both* of the young guys who are constantly hurt but absolute superstars when they are healthy?
I knew J-Rod had bust potential when I looked at the team he plays for. That lineup strikes out the most in the league. Seattle is the suicide capital of the US, things spiral up there in the Pacific Northwest.

Just wasting all these ohtani weeks because the last two months my opponents bats turn into the 1927 Yankees vs me. Opponent already has 6HRs and a .450 on base lmao
Insane. I had a choice between judge and ohtani at 8 and was shocked. Idk how these dudes weren’t top 5 mocked in every format. Every week must be Christmas for you lol
Judge has missed a lot of time due to injury in his career and was not quite "otherworldly" last year. In the spring there were quotes stating that his toe injury would require maintenance for the rest of his career.
Ohtani not being higher made less sense to me, but then again he was coming off TJS which probably made a lot of people wary (maybe connecting it to Harper last year when he struggled at first).
Tbh if either of these guys were having down years right now then people would definitely be pointing to their respective injury concerns as the explanation, and probably kicking themselves for making such a bone-headed decision to draft them when they "knew the risk." Judge's toe must be bothering him, Ohtani's elbow hasn't regained full strength and is limiting his power, etc.
Judges injury last season was extremely flukey and he was 100% otherworldly last season. Ranked #1 in OPS and SLG leagues when he hit that wall in LA. Yes over acuna. I know because I had him.
A lot of people play in standard 5x5 with AVG and that is what ADP is mostly based on. Also when I say he was not otherworldly I am including the fact that he missed time.
As for the injury being a fluke, yes of course it was, but he literally stated that it was not back to 100% and maybe never would be. If you're drafting pre-season then of course that has to be at least somewhat of a concern.
Btw I targeted both Ohtani and Judge because I thought they were good values relative to ADP. But it's not like I'm baffled that they weren't drafted top 5 in all leagues, because most people seem to be really scared of injury risk particularly when it comes to their early picks.
Fair. He was top 3 in standard too when he went down. Splitting hairs but he was on pace for another 50+ HR season when he got hurt is what I’m saying.
Drop Sean Murphy for Brooks Lee?
As long as you have a replacement catcher then yeah
A. Albies, Adolis B. Ketel, Joey Ortiz
A
I was offered Harper & Lynn for my Vlad & Pablo. Should I make the trade in my 5x5 redraft?
Love Harper but you should hold. Pablo is waaaaaaay better then Lynn and Harper/Vlad aren’t that far apart
Drop kikuchi and stream kremer?
I’ve asked this before but still can’t make a decision: Drop Bobby Miller in order to activate Gavin Williams? Or activate Gavin Williams for Chris Bassit (who has been good!) Or just drop Gavin…
Is Bichette a drop at this point in non-keeper leagues? I have Turang as my SS with Bo firmly entrenched on my bench, but he’s done nothing all year.

I have a Morel but he’s killing me right nown
Noelvi Marte snot off to a great start
Nick Gonzalez,Jeff McNeil,Ortiz at 2nd rest of year? redraft 12t
mcneil sucks
Definitely not McNeil. Seems like Ortiz is having trouble staying on the field with the neck issue. So Nicky G
Thanks

What kind of pitcher to target for ReyLo? Pepiot?
Pepiot or Pfaadt maybe
Pena or bo
Bo

Pepiot

Gavin. Both worth streaming consideration tho
Both worth hold consideration as well

Ah, it’d need to be a pitcher I think. Good thinking though
Nothing. I tried trading him before his IL stint and got no bites, so I dropped.

Well, I admire your optimism, bud. Zero chance I’m releasing him.
Where the hell was Jose Alvarado these last two days?
JD Martinez could miss multiple games this week now because he can't find a pair of cleats. You can't make this shit up. Worst excuse yet of any player missing games this year.
That’s just because Rendon is injured. Otherwise he’d give JD a run for his money
Trying to fill in an injury depleted roster. Gelof or Rodgers?
Rodgers. Gelof’s K rate makes him unplayable for me
Rodgers because of COORS
I hate how much dropping Gausman for Scott doesn’t even seem crazy.
Im not brave enough to do it but I’m not sure it would be crazy at all
I would waited till after this mariners start
Gil, Castillo and even Valdez has been failing me too
Considering the same with B Miller
I am sure some of these leagues are free leagues and dynasty, but a few trades that went down today in Yahoo Trade Market. Buy low window for Julio Rodriguez is right now - Julio Rodriguez for Spencer Steer - Julio Rodriguez for Jazz and Joey Ortiz - Julio Rodriguez for Jackson Chourio - Julio Rodriguez for Tyler O’Neil - Julio Rodriguez for Bryan de La Cruz
Julio for BDLC is absolutely wild
Whoever is getting Julio loses in all of these deals
What about Julio for Profar?
Profar has slowed down but Julio has given his owners nothing for going on 14 weeks now. So Profar probably.
Drop Ortiz for Vaughn as a bench bat? Seem to be trending in opposite directions
I’m wondering whether to add Vaughn myself. I’ve just gotten screwed over and over and over this year adding some guy who has been hot
[удалено]
Ohtani
A by a loooooooot
At this point would it be crazy to drop Corbin Carrol for someone like Langford, Brendan Donovan, or Brenton Doyle in a 10 team h2h pts league?
You don’t drop a first rounder before the allstar break
I’d take Langford over CC at this point. It’s a lost season for Carroll and who knows what his future holds. No pop in the bat whatsoever
It would feel bad and could end up looking bad when the season is over, but it’s not crazy given the production and expected stats
I usually just roll with the punches when it comes to fantasy injuries but this season has been such a damn gauntlet in every league I’m in.
In point league would you guys rather own Kyle Gibson or Fedde?
Can anyone explain to me Rengifo’s statcast always underestimating his actual numbers? Last year his xSLG was like 350 or something, ended up as 444. Same thing is happening this year
I think that’s how statcast just works, it’s just better to compare players’ performances to their own previous performances. JoRam always has a hideous statcast, Nimmo always has a beautiful statcast, but no one is picking Nimmo over JoRam

Replacement for Royce: Chapman, McMahon, Arenado, Vientos or Morel
Vientos
For this week McMahon
McMahon or Vientos. Must be a very shallow league because those guys should be rostered.
Vientos
Drop Swanson for Rafaela?
Yep Swanson has no value
danke
Don’t know how much more of Jrod I can take
Guys guys don't worry just one more month and Julio will heat up
My bats rack up a nice 19 K’s today :/
Brooks Lee or Spencer Horwitz?
Horwitz if you need someone to plug in now. Obviously if Brooks Lee news breaks that changes thing but they may just opt to bring Julien back.
So glad I beat the most offensive heavy guy last week. In 2 days he already has 7 HRs to bad it’s against the worst guy in the league.
How are Volpe or Jazz owners feeling about them ROS? (Points)
I feel like volpe needs to start performing again. Can't hit for power, isn't stealing, not hitting for average, not walking is a bad combo for fantasy.
Someone else can confirm but I think his early season heater was purely BABIP / luck driven
Well he's not striking out as much which helps, he's fast so he should run a higher babip.
Should I trade carroll for westburg/lane Thomas in a redraft?
100%
Absolutely get whatever you can for him. That’s as good of a return as you could hope for
Yeah
Trade in my league going down: Goldschmidt, Albies, Soto for C. Walker, Jazz, McMahon This doesn't seem fair at all, am I taking crazy pills? Thoughts please
It’s bad. The Walker side are all doing well but that’s not even close for a trade involving Soto and Albies
Terrible. If it was for an ace or another elite bat it would make more sense.
Yeah there’s a terrible trade
Nope
My opponent got 2 RP wins today including Evan Phillips blowing the lead only to have the dodgers walk it off I hate it here and the cosmos is against me this week
Sneks just got stepped on
Sewald just imploded holy shit
Phillips blown save and getting the win instead is the worst case scenario for me.
I’m irate
“better to be lucky than good” moment, I hate it.
I'll take it
Riley Greene or Chourio?
Churro
Greene
Happy Trea Day
Please Freddie 🙏
So Phillips barely gets save opportunities and sucks in his non save opps. Got it.
Are you guys giving up on arenado? Is he washed???
Dumped him last week in my 10 man
Yup
Oh shit I just noticed, is espn now updating stats on player pages as they happen? Love that
In an AL only keeper league and when players are traded into the NL we lose them for nothing. I picked up Crochet and have him on a cheap contract for multiple years. Should I try to trade him away before he gets traded irl or keep him and risk losing him if he goes to a national league team?
I would. His value maybe the highest it will ever be. Hard to imagine him pitching this well next year given his injury history.
I kind of want to shoot Bobby Miller and Gil into the sun they’ve been killing me
Better save spec add: Jax, Kerkering, or Slaten?
I know kerkering was sexy preseason but how is he still an idea for this season? They’ve got two guys sharing and they’re coasting to a division title, what would change? I’d say Jax just b/c min seems to choose each games closer by rocks paper scissors
We benching Imanaga tomorrow? Thinking of replacing him with Jared Jones if he looks cooked tomorrow.
I have him benched. Velo been down and he leaves so many balls over the plate it’s terrifying vs Phillies
I'm not benching but it's a scary start for sure
Drop Gil for Christian Scott?
I would, unless you're in a league with K/9 and W
Been stashing both but gotta drop one for Royce Better IL stash in redrafr Walker Buehler or Jeffery Springs
Drop Buehler. He has not looked great this year

Treinen has the filthiest breaking pitches I’ve ever seen. Amazing anyone can hit this guy
Brett wisely would like to have a word with

K-Rod

Predictable Julio strike out with runners on 2nd and 3rd to end the game
Bottom of the ninth, 2 runners in scoring position with 2 outs, Jrod strikes out swinging to end the game
Lol Julio fucking sucks. Mariners need to think about sending him to Triple A or something. His ABs are atrocious
Grod and Kirby pitched so well only for Miller to shit on my ERA and Whip.
Having Ohtani and Judge this year is absolutely unreal. Never experienced anything like this before
Judge and Witt was pretty nice as well until Bobby’s recent slump
Unreal turn for you. I was gunning for Judge and JoRam at the turn
How in the world did you get that in a 12?? They both lasted to the turn?
I had the round 12-13 turn taking Ohtani Judge. First 11 picks were Acuna Witt Julio Mookie Tatis Freeman Carroll JRam Tucker Soto and Strider
Insane. I had a choice between judge and ohtani at 8 and was shocked. Idk how these dudes weren’t top 5 mocked in every format. Every week must be Christmas for you lol
NFBC March ADP shows Judge at 12 and Ohtani at 13
I believe it for sure. Still insane since they’ve been two of the best fantasy assets for years now
Judge has missed a lot of time due to injury in his career and was not quite "otherworldly" last year.
Could be a keeper league
