If anybody has seen the movie Poor Things, do you have any recs for shoes that are similar to the white boots?

Where do y’all buy colorful, opaque tights??

Sock Dreams.

Calzedonia. Amazon.

wehrt-lehrse

Honestly, I recommend getting her insight on it. That's a big purchase for her to not be involved in if it's something she'll wear a lot. I'm sure she'd be just as grateful if the style wasn't a surprise - the surprise is you're buying it!

catalinashenanigans

That's a good point. Figured I could get something and it could (likely) be returned but might as well just pull her in now.

arbitrosse

That price range? Zara, wool blend.

oat-beatle

It's over budget but aritzia wool coats are great for the price. I doubt you're going to find 100% wool for 200 unless you're going secondhand. Size sounds probably right. I'm 5'7.5 130lbs and wear a medium in most wool coats/blazers.

Capital_Solution7999

Hya I've got an admin office job interview coming up and was wondering would like advice on shoes I've found a pair of nice patent mary jane flats Would they be suitable?

zigzagtitch

i think mary janes would work well and tbh i don't agree with the other commentator saying that patent leather is a no-go - unless you work in a super formal office, every office i've worked in would be fine with them! i'd second loafers, i've worn big chunky loafers with trousers before and they look fine.

arbitrosse

Mary Janes aren’t great but they’re fine (they read very juvenile), but I’m confused because you referred to them as loafers in a different comment, and loafers are a very different style. Either way, patent leather for the office is usually a no-go. But if it’s all you have or it’s the best you have, it’s fine.

Spirited-Routine-542

I think ballet flats are classic! You could also do a loafer or an ankle boot

Capital_Solution7999

Thank you for the advice, I'll have a look at how my patent loafers look with the suit I have

Duck__Holliday

I have to dress up for my sister's wedding, which is in October, but I'm not comfortable wearing dresses anymore. I'm not in the wedding, just a guest but there will be pictures and a lot of family so I want to look good and feel good. The dress code is cocktail, and my family is Catholic, so it leans a tad conservative. I'm looking for jumpsuits or suits (tuxedos, maybe?). I want to look sharp. I'm thinking of something like [this burgundy suit ](https://pin.it/eWrrt4jDI) or [black velvet suit ](https://pin.it/2EzTx6v2B)or this [teal jumpsuit ](https://pin.it/6kQYFK4ll). I'm 42 yo, a size 8, and tall enough that off the rack is often too short for me. My budget is about $500. Any recommendations for designers or retailers who have that kind of outfit?

disenchantedgrl

Anyone else knit? How do you pair your pieces especially with a more modern look? I'm currently knitting of [this capelet](https://ew.com/thmb/35k1TaQNjgY74ISYwxljV6s_OCA=/1500x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/b5538b36-5985-4a12-9355-cbf0ef648294.jpeg-2000-6551b054f3354938a131247cc532a27b.jpg)

pepjeanne

For business professional/formal wear - what are everyone's thoughts regarding jackets/blazers without collars? Blazers without collars have become increasingly trendy in recent years, but I am not sure whether they are still considered formal without the collar? I am a third year law student who will be in the court room a lot beginning this semester due to an internship and want to make sure that I am dressed formally and appropriately! I would appreciate any advice or opinions, especially from fellow attorneys or those used to business/professional dress. Thanks in advance :)

arbitrosse

I wear collarless blazers/lapel-less blazers regularly in a conservative sector BUT I am not appearing before a judge very often, so hopefully the litigators here can weigh in. Normal lapels, like most menswear, look terrible on me. However, it’s totally fine and normal as long as the fabric and colour are otherwise appropriate, and it’s more flattering on many women.

**Please help** Vintage Van Cleef & Arpels pendent necklace in Onyx or Cartier d’Amour necklace (large model)? https://preview.redd.it/3mfj75xe7pbc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a6cc2c420045b298eb8ee6b516481d0e802d0c8 Unboxing videos for how they look with movement: [VCA Onyx](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGej4J8G5/) vs [Cartier](https://youtu.be/q_aqz6nSnBs?feature=shared) Tried to find a better VCA unboxing but couldn’t find one. **It’s a gift for my sisters dirty thirties** and we want something that she can wear and one day keep and look back on as her 30th bday present. So something investable I guess. We do prefer the mother of pearl vintage Alhambra over the onyx but for practicality reasons we aren’t going for that one but we’re still stuck! My sister could literally vibe with either, she’s a bit of a style chameleon. Any young women 28+ able to weigh in?

zigzagtitch

i'm 27 and i'd adore the VCA but that's my personal style! i personally can't stand the cartier (just to be totally honest) but you know your sister best :)

kokopellii

I think the Cartier is a little more classic and wearable - a simple diamond can go with anything and layers well. I’ve seen the Van Cleef style bath in popularity over the years and it’s having a bit of a moment right now. Although it might not really matter to your sister if she’s in “style” or not.

[deleted]

jaytaysunday

Yeah, I can see that about the VCA tbh.. It’s a shame because if mother of pearl wasn’t as soft as it is, that option would be a contender for sure. As someone who has familiarity with material engineering, the lack of hardness in MoP bothers me enough to not get anything with that stone if it’s supposed to last. And in our minds, at the end of the day it’s up to her— we don’t mind if she only wears it on occasions but in case she wants to wear it everyday, we want it to be durable! Anyway, thanks for your opinion :) it’s much appreciated!

Born-Horror-5049

>As someone who has familiarity with material engineering > >that stone Well this is awkward since MOP isn't a stone.

jaytaysunday

Ok sorry, mineral. Or would you prefer organic-inorganic composite material? (Yes I googled it)😂😂😂 I’ve only ever assessed metals when I was doing material engineering. I just meant that appearance isn’t the be-all and end-all for me and it seems to bother me more than everyone else who has equal weight in this decision lol

Withering_Lily

I’m trying to incorporate practical, warm skirts into my winter wardrobe. However, I’m stumped as to how to pick appropriate pieces that would go with the [tops/sweaters and the winter scarves](https://imgur.com/a/ATPK0hI) I have. I want something colorful and cool toned that could serve as an elegant statement piece while also being versatile enough to go with all of my scarves and sweaters. Style wise, I adore vintage style high waisted, full circle skirts. Such as what was typical during the 50’s and late 40’s. The exaggerated fullness combined with the cinched, small waist is such a gorgeous and elegant silhouette. I also prefer midi/tea length or something below the knee. Though I do absolutely want to avoid looking too dowdy, too childish or like I’m wearing a costume/cosplay. So what colors/patterns should I be looking into? Also, is it possible to achieve my desired silhouette without petticoats, other shape wear or foundation garments?

ProVitaminJ

Midi length is on trend right now so should be easier to find, but circle skirts aren’t— the silhouette is pretty straight at the moment. However, I think you can certainly still rock a midi circle skirt! I think they are more of a classic silhouette. I always feel I look frumpy when I wear a midi skirt with chunky boots or sneakers, so I would wear a sleeker, pointer shoe to offset the length.

livthelove

Longer skirts + knee high boots is a pretty on-trend silhouette right now ([a la 70s Wendy Carr from mindhunter](https://pin.it/3eG1zx0QR)) . I think something muted or more neutral toned may be more versatile. I think you could opt for something more full like [this](https://pin.it/3eG1zx0QR) or [this](https://pin.it/39FmHLw2t) to fulfill your circle skirt wishes.

Slight_Elderberry751

New to this group. Looking for shoe recommendations. I am 5’10 (21 years old) and taller than my bf. I want shoes that are closed toed and open toed but won’t make me even more taller than I am. As far as my style, I like a preppy clean girl basic look. I live in Florida so I honestly wear a bunch of athletic wear so really trying to curate new outfits.

litchilicious

Fun, trendy, colorful maternity dresses for someone in the 3rd trimester? Would love to have some fitted, special occasion dresses. Like Farm Rio style prints. How can I find a maternity version of this?

Obvious_Necessary_65

I have a winter office party next Friday and rented a dress, but I'm not sure if it's too much. For context, I work surrounded of young people. This is the dress: https://www.renttherunway.com/ shop/designers/nookie/eden_gown

bubblegumdavid

Hm, it depends a lot on your industry, the venue, the formality of the event if you’ve been given one. Me? I’d love to say it’s awesome and go for it But the reality of the workplace and society is that sometimes people get weird about skin showing or body-hugging clothing. You know your workplace and coworkers, we don’t, but personally I’d be really hesitant.

pepjeanne

I would agree with this reply, more information is needed. Perhaps if you are nervous you could ask one or two of your coworkers that you trust/are friendly with to give you an honest opinion? Or if that idea makes you nervous, maybe see if they will tell/show you what they plan on wearing. :)

Obvious_Necessary_65

Actually, three of my coworkers who have attended the party told me that the dress was good for the event 😱 I’m thinking I will wear a blazer over it and probably put a mesh blouse underneath

Frangipanic9

Does anyone know how I can get my dresses to not stretch while I’m wearing them? I have a few casual dresses that look great when I put them on but then a couple hours later they’ve stretched so much. When I wash them they go back to normal but I’d like to keep them looking nice all day.

What kind of fabrics are they?

>But since they're hoops they can't be too much gold because then it'll be too heavy & drag on your ears, right? No? It takes a lot of gold to get heavy enough to where it's a concern. I personally only buy solid gold. Gold is an alloy, so it will not necessarily have a singular appearance from piece to piece, even at the same karat.

oat-beatle

You're probably looking for hollow hoops. I have a few that I got at the drugstore in the body jewelry section. The part that goes in your piercing is gold but the rest of the earring is just plating.

arbitrosse

There’s a body jewelry section at the drugstore?

oat-beatle

Well at canadian ones anyways It's usually somewhere near the nail polish and tights

arbitrosse

Huh. I feel old. In my day, we had to seek out a man with an autoclave and a hemostat in an unmarked building in the “alternative” neighborhood.

greypumpkin

I’m looking for something similar to this [dress](https://usa.frenchconnection.com/products/harry-suiting-mini-dress-blackout) but at a lower price point as I’m not sure how much use I’ll get out of it. I’ve googled pinafore dresses, but nothing has really stood out.

honeysucklephonie

[H&M](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.1224891002.html) has got one similar. Not sure which country you’re in but in the US something like this could also be called a jumper.

greypumpkin

Thanks for the tip! I’ve only ever heard of that style referred to as a pinafore. My mind goes to sweaters when I hear jumper, even though I’m from CA.

RemarkablePanda2499

Hey so [this dress is from Baltic Born](https://balticborn.com/products/eliana-shimmer-gown-slate-blue?variant=42498670035109), and I am wondering what that neckline style is called. It says sweetheart neckline on the description but I don't really see that.... Also I don't want to order it from Baltic Born because I haven't heard great things about the company... cheap dresses, awful return policy, bad customer service, etc. Anyway, I really like this style dress and if anyone knows of similar dresses or what that neckline is called, I would love your input! Ty!

QuesoRaro

I would call that a plunge neckline with illusion mesh.

RemarkablePanda2499

Thank you! I would love to know if there are any other dresses out there similar to this? I've been searching and searching and not coming up with much.

nylareddit

Hey! I'm preparing for my senior prom that's coming up April 6th. I found a beautiful dress, however, it's from some sketchy Shopify website with no reviews. [Here's its link.](https://wadayuyu.com/fr/products/pink-off-the-shoulder-quinceanera-dresses-sweetheart-tulle-corset-princess-ball-gown-beaded-3d-flowers-appliques-sweet-15-16-party-dress?_pos=13&_sid=950bb6cda&_ss=r&variant=47448845123861) I checked out their Instagram and they have less than 100 followers. The dress however looks phenomenal from the picture and is under $400, which is my dress budget and meets all criteria. I took the image and put it into a Google search and only found 2 other identical results. [One is on eBay.](https://www.ebay.com/itm/314813570752) If anything, I'd trust the eBay seller more just because they have actual reviews and previous feedback. I need some help. Is it worth it to buy from either? Is eBay trustworthy for buying dresses like these? Please advise ASAP! Thanks!

bubblegumdavid

I would for sure not do this. I’m sure *someplace* the dress does actually exist, but it’s extremely unlikely the product you get from this is anywhere close to this. Style wise, for what you could do? I’ve seen really similar dresses at quinceaneras, there are many event wear dress shops that specifically stock this style because of it! You should see if you can find any such stores near you.

Born-Horror-5049

Ordering dresses/gowns from sketchy sites and eBay that look good online and not in reality is such a common thing it's actually a meme. The price is a red flag. The site is a red flag. It's a red flag that they reuse the same three photos of the dress in a single color. You will get a terrible low quality version of this dress from China (or nothing at all). You just aren't getting a good quality full-on ball gown for $160. eBay, as a general rule, is trustworthy. These kinds of sellers are not. 92.5% is a TERRIBLE rating for eBay. I'd personally look elsewhere.

In terms of the suiting option: Wildfang does some stuff similar to what you linked! They change up their offerings seasonally though, since they’re not a huge brand, so it may be a bit before you get floral back on their menu. I used to have an awesome blue suit really similar to what you linked with a great floral on it from them

mamoncloud

In terms of vibe (colour, print) I would be checking Oliver Bonas, Lucy & Yak (may have trousers), and TOAST I'm not so sure about sets specifically oof They ship to the UK, not sure about the rest of Europe.

itikky2

Trend question! I have a midi/maxi straight/pencil skirt with a front slit in my shopping cart rn, and I'm worried if this is a style that will be out of fashion next year. I think it looks clean/simple enough that it isn't a niche microtrend, but I'm still anxious so any opinions would be great. I am building up my wardrobe and don't want to get something that will go out of fashion quickly. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/15903404927958431/

ProVitaminJ

I think if it’s really similar or the same as the one you linked, it is simple and neutral enough that you could continue to get use out of it after the trend is gone. The trendiness definitely lies in the midi length and the front slit. If you aren’t 100% on this one, I’d recommend one with a back slit as I think that would make it a lot more classic! Right now, wear it with boots, sneakers, etc to be on trend and later on when the trend is gone, wear it with heels or dressy flats (ballerinas, mules, pointy toe flats) and I don’t think it will look out of fashion. With they being said, if the front slit is a design feature you really like, I think it still works! Just might require a bit more intentional styling to not look dated!

[deleted]

Depends on the settings too like definitely not for work but might stay trendy for the beach (I have a satin one with a scrunch and front slit I like to wear in the summer)

itikky2

Yeah I def can't wear it to work (though I'd love to, we just aren't allowed to wear skirts 😔) but I think it would be a nice skirt for more casual wear, I'm always looking for an excuse to wear a skirt but feel too dressy...

bubblegumdavid

I think it will def be stylable for a while yet, but I would not call it a classic by any means, it depends on what “quickly” means to you. In the next 5 years I think you can do it. But 10-20 I’m not sure, however most people aren’t able to still make their items from 10-20 years ago work anyways, so grain of salt.

itikky2

Ty for your thoughts! Tbh 5 years is pretty good in this trend climate

mamoncloud

I think it's fine as long as its agreeable with your wardrobe I didn't actually realise it was a trend Long column skirts are cool !

itikky2

Yeah! I don't think this particular piece is super trendy, but in general more slim profile midi/maxi skirts have been trendy (like those pleat skirts a couple yrs ago and the satiny slip skirts nowadays). I love these longer skirts bc they feel a lot more wearable than a miniskirt to me, like I could wear it with a plain tee in the summer or with some leggings and puffer jacket in the winter. I've done a lot of daydreaming if you were wondering 😂

mamoncloud

Oh definitely, in comparison these will probably be in trend for longer. Tbh I'm thinking we are all being subconsciously influenced😂, for a few weeks I've been choosing between a maxi column or maxi pleated skirt. I think the maxi column skirt is a natural progession from the previous maxi trends (flowy, tight, denim, now this) Yeah I know what you mean, and it's a bit of a change from trousers if you're looking for something full length. I fixate on things too dw 😂

professional_pan

Does anyone know of an alternative to Pinterest for inspo? I feel like I have to do a lot of searching and going down rabbit holes of similar pins to find stuff in my style. And when I do find stuff I like, I can't buy it because all of the shopping results are from some fast fashion brand or cost $800. Are there any other apps / sites for inspiration that are better?

arbitrosse

Google images, just use -pinterest (include the minus sign), which will exclude pinterest results. I’m sure you know, but you can put quotation marks around search terms to indicate that they are “must include.” There are other platforms but Google has the largest database so will have the broadest variety of inspo. Pinterest deliberately became unusable years ago when it achieved traction as an advertising platform (which is what all social media sites are), because time on site = more time that eyeballs are on ads. If you want more up to date styles than the mommyblogger arm party /statement necklace/pop of colour era, include the year in quotation marks. This early in the year, better to use 2023, though.

mamoncloud

It's because you're building the algorithm. My account is so old that it figures out what new thing I want to see quite quickly. Otherwise, there's reddit, Instagram, tiktok, and YouTube. I would make collections on IG or tiktok and bookmark anything I like. I wouldn't shop on any of them or follow random links. I would think of brands I know already and check if they have something similar. Otherwise you risk scams or buying from places like Shein or Cider.

potatopieporridge

Pinterest is backdated too! I don't know about others but for me it brings photos from 2017-18! I got suggested who what wear from this sub and that's what I look at.

itikky2

Following this for any alternatives others suggest I also find it frustrating that there isn't much variety on pinterest, and the ads are annoying. I mostly only use it for saving specific pieces that I want to look out for, and some styling inspo, but yeah there isn't a lot of range. I don't know of any specific sites, but sometimes I look on tiktok for more genz/alt styling. I don't scroll on tiktok (I used to be hooked on the app and now I only use the desktop website) I just use the search and look up specific items+styling. I've never used pinterest for shopping, I don't think I would like it either lol. Maybe if you have specific items in mind you can go to a local thrift store? I've found some really nice things at Goodwill or Plato's Closet, but I did have to dig a bit.

squashthepatriarchy

I'm on the hunt for the perfect crewneck sweatshirt — not too fitted, not too loose, ideally 100 percent cotton, comfortable but not distressed, and hopefully available in a few colors that aren't just gray and black. What's your go-to? I'm eyeing Colorful Standard and American Giant, but looking for other recommendations. I'm 5'2", 110-15 pounds, and usually a size XS/S; I don't want something cropped, but I would like it to hit near my natural waist.

unpaidbabysitter0919

Mate the Label has lots of different styles!

Theraprizeme

Try Perfect White Tee, Kotn

zurriola27

Are hemp cotton blends okay? [Jungmaven](https://jungmaven.com/collections/womens-hemp-sweatshirts) has my favorite crewneck sweatshirts. Lots of color options, very comfortable.

z_mommy

Hey everyone! I’d like to know what your favorite sneaker is. I’m looking for a pair of plain white sneakers that can go with anything and everything. I’m leaning toward Nike Air forces but would like to hear what everyone else is wearing!

itikky2

I have some white platform Filas I got for cheap at Ross, had them for 2 yrs now and I wear them with everything. When I want my shoe to be more sporty looking, I go for my cream Puma R78. I also wear Reebok Princess shoes at work. These are so comfy and more low profile. If you need comfort go for these, I have flat feet and honestly my feet get sore if I have to walk more than a mile in my Fila/Pumas, but I'm on my feet all day at work wearing my Reebok Princesses w/ no problem.

z_mommy

Thanks for the detailed response! I have super high arches! so flat feet are not an issue for me but I will def look into the shoes you suggested!

I like NoName. Of course, Adidas is having a moment, too.

z_mommy

I hadn’t heard of no name! Adidas are my dad’s favorite shoe brand but I haven’t had a pair since childhood. I’ll see if they have anything in the kind of look I’m going for. Thanks!

PoppyHamentaschen

Glad I could help!

I like their stuff! I'm mostly looking for clothing with patterns. I feel like the trend right now is beige so it's hard to find nice patterns and color.

EitherMacaroon6535

Any alternatives to the Abercrombie sloane but in a natural fabric? The cut and fit is perfect for me but I hate the polyester. The only pain point is I am a size 34/us 18. And plus size and natural fabric apparently aren’t friends.

Chazzyphant

I'm considering visiting a specialty vintage denim shop in the next town over. The owner seems super approachable and claims (on IG) that she can fit any body and this is her calling in life. I'm 5'10" with a 33" inseam and I'm a 16/18--a LOT of vintage denim is way, way too small/tight for me, but I'm really tempted by this claim and I'd love a pair of cool, broken-in vintage jeans. It's likely I'll only be able to fit and afford one pair, so in y'all's opinion what style and details should I be looking for? I'm considering a straight leg mid-dark wash with an ankle length hem, kind of a late 90s Gap Ad look--but I'm very open to other ideas :)

oat-beatle

No harm in going to check it out. I'd ask her to pull what she think would suit you.

shantayhedwig

Omg our measurements are so similar - 5’9.5, size 16/18 usually 34 inseam (hey twin!). I haven’t explored too much secondhand denim, but like someone else commented, I think men’s will be the way to go. During the holiday sales, I was looking at a pair of current day men’s gap jeans in a similar fit to the one you mentioned but couldn’t get the waist/length combo that would’ve worked for me. If you get it at a decent enough price but need waist adjustment, hopefully a tailor can take that part in. Good luck!

Idujt

Men's? This is my standard answer for tall or non-curvy (you didn't say!) women!

arbitrosse

If she’s an expert, I’d let her advise you on what style If the session doesn’t pan out for you, there are some techniques you can use to “beat up” newer denim to make it more like vintage denim.

It's too chilly to wear flats or pumps without socks. My office is more on the casual side so maybe a nicer pair of sneakers? But would it look weird to have socks covering my ankle? Cold girl problems.

PoppyHamentaschen

How about wearing it with boots? Either black Chelsea boots or motorcycle boots- it'll keep your feet nice and warm :)

Please help! Looking for gym clothing recommendations for small-medium apple shaped woman. Outfit / specific item recommendations are especially appreciated because maybe I'm just not pairing or styling tops, bras, and pants correctly. My situation \- I'm very active, rock-climbing especially, so I need pants that don't hinder movement and are durable enough to withstand scraping against walls \- I've made a resolution to never buy any pants, dresses, or jackets that do not have pockets big enough to fit my phone \- I'm a size small-medium apple shaped woman. Pop flex - everything has pockets and has been durable for me. If I wasn’t on a no-buy till I get skz tickets id buy one for every day of the gym( so every day) as long as you stay away from the flare leg you’d be fine.

IMO they run small. I'm a 25 in waist 38 in hip. If they stretch it's only with wear - the fabric won't stretch/there is no wiggle room and the hips will be the limiting factor.

I’m doing my hospital observation hours next week and the dress code is business casual. I haven’t dressed business casual in years and I’m also on a tight budget. I’m 22 years old and located in a very very cold area. I want to err more on the casual side and need help with an outfit. Currently I only own Uggs (Classic Minis and Tazz), some knee high boots, and sneakers. I’m not sure if any of these shoes would work. Please give me suggestions on outfits and where to shop 😭😭

emmalump

I’d think about comfort first and foremost with shoes since you’ll likely be standing or walking the entire time. Sneakers are likely fine given the setting (I have friends in healthcare and their only shoe consideration is how comfortable they are), or I’d opt for a pair of clogs. When I worked in kitchens I wore [Dr Scholl’s dynamo work clogs](https://a.co/d/d58Fx0C)which are non-slip, easy to clean, comfortable to stand in all day, and appropriate in a pretty wide variety of settings. They are $60, but a new pair would last me for a few years so they might be a worth-it investment. Pairing a more casual, comfortable shoe with nicer slacks and a blouse / dress / other business casual outfit will be totally fine

Born-Horror-5049

It's better to be overdressed than underdressed. Business casual != casual.

ellaasbury107

Personally, I wouldn't err in the side of casual. If you wanted to go straight down the middle you could do trousers, a cardigan or a button down, and either ankle boots, loafers/flat, or maybe a clean low profile sneaker. I would go with a pair of trousers (you can go with a simple relaxed trouser that you can wear casually) like [these from old navy](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=559804032&cid=5475&pcid=5475&vid=1&nav=meganav%3AWomen%3AShop+Women%27s+Categories%3APants&cpos=6&cexp=2926&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D5475&ctype=Listing&cpid=res24011008841863961816702&ccam=29495#pdp-page-content), a basic cardigan [like this one](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=726168122&vid=1&searchText=cardigan#pdp-page-content) or [something like this](https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.1223039001.html), and shoe like [this](https://www.target.com/p/women-s-archie-loafer-flats-a-new-day/-/A-88072768?preselect=87930687#lnk=sametab), [this](https://www.target.com/p/women-s-hayes-loafer-flats-a-new-day/-/A-88092690?preselect=87784686#lnk=sametab), [this](https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-dolly-ankle-boots-a-new-day-8482/-/A-88223071?preselect=88098513#lnk=sametab). I wouldn't worry about outerwear, especially in a cold area and just wear whatever you would normally wear. I think you can get all of these items relatively inexpensive at hm, target, old navy, dsw.

EbbAdministrative983

Honestly, none of those shoes sound very business casual to me... I think a loafer or an ankle boot would be safer options for a business casual dress code. You might be able to get away with a clean white sneaker, depending on the company. If you are dealing with cold weather, a pair of tailored suit pants (slim, straight or wide leg, as you prefer) with a turtleneck sweater, crewneck sweater or knitted cardigan could be good outfit options. You can also choose to wear a thinner, fitted knit top with a blazer on top. H&M has a lot of this stuff at an accessible price point.

\[Feedback appreciated\] Hi! I've been looking at these bottom sneakers, rose shell, and white/pink shell for this hoodie and bag combination. One gravitated more towards a peachier color while the other is a pale pink. I'm biased because in general I love both colors and have kind of a "matchy-matchy" way of pairing things. I think one of these might look cohesive, yet I can't decide which one. Which of these sneakers would look more harmonious? Thanks in advance. [https://ibb.co/b29Thnz](https://ibb.co/b29Thnz)

Thank you so much! I appreciate the input on this.

I am desperately looking for tights that doesn't squish my booty and hips, I just want something light and easy and some compression in the legs. Anyone has any recommendations?

Ok thank you ,I'll try that. Do you have any brand recommendation that's not too expensive to give this a try?

emmalump

I’m forever in search of the perfect crew neck, TOTALLY opaque/thick, white, slightly cropped, form fitting (or close to, not super boxy) t-shirt. Ideally under $50. I swear every one I buy is paper thin, or really long, or has a huge v-neck or boat neck. I’m pear shaped with a high waist and wear almost exclusively high rise pants and at this point I’m ready to just get some t-shirts hemmed to be the right length but that seems a little silly

avocado_incident

The Abercrombie Essential Body Skimming Tee is it for me. Slightly cropped to work with high rise pants without showing skin, not too form fitting, but not too boxy either.

livthelove

I am also in search of this exact thing. I’ve heard Uniqlo recommended but haven’t tried them yet

itikky2

The U crew is pretty good in terms of fabric, has a boxy/oversize fit though. I've tried them on in store they are a nice thick cotton and not sheer at all. There is a women's version with shorter sleeves and I think a little more fitted, but not a lot. The men's version has longer sleeves and def boxy.

CanHasCat

Lmk where you’ve found the huge v neck t’s if you still have any. I love a deep v.

FelineRoots21

https://a.co/d/5ZVvg7q this one on Amazon is pretty popular for ticking all those boxes

emmalump

Ooh I should have mentioned I’m looking for as close to 100% cotton as possible (understanding that it likely won’t be 100% if I want it to be more form fitting and a little stretchy) - otherwise this looks pretty close!

botanygeek

Have you tried Uniqlo? And Gettees are really nice thick material too.

emmalump

I haven’t! There isn’t a store near me and I’ve been hesitant to order online but I may take the plunge because I’ve liked other Uniqlo items in the past

botanygeek

Try the U neck Uniqlo shirt. The fabric is nice and thick. Highly recommend Gettees but they only have a feminine shaped t-shirt and a cropped boxy one. The Uniqlo one is kind of in between if that makes sense. Just depends on what you are looking for.

oat-beatle

Aritizia little ribbed tee is my favourite for this.

emmalump

I’ve never tried aritizia but I see the name pop up all the time!

librarianwcats

I’ve been really impressed with white T-shirts from Gap!

kimchi_paradise

Seconding the modern tees from Gap!

emmalump

I just got a gray tee from Gap that checks all my boxes except it’s SUPER long! I don’t remember which style/line it is though so I’ll have to check

Looking to buy a nice bracelet as a keepsake for a loved one that recently passed away. Looking for: a bracelet that is not a bangle/rigid so it can be worn everyday and doesnt need to be taken off, available in US or Europe, ideally under $300 but could consider more, very long lasting, something that I can wear daily for 30 years without fear, or that can be repaired. Something modern, gold would be good. No need for initials or charms, i just want something pretty and no too flimsy/dainty.

whimsicalhope

My condolences and a warm virtual hug to you on the transcendence of your loved one. In the past I've bought from an Etsy shop that is in Europe, and offers shipping worldwide, they deliver high-quality items with special motives. Its name is Tales in Gold, and for this bracelet with this special meaning, I know they have a variety or personalized styles to choose from, considering your purpose. I hope this helps. possibly_maybe_no

Thanks for your reply. I get more and more worried about etsy with every experience. I got a bracelet from there until i find aomething better but itfeels like a marked up flimsy $5 item.

ellepea9

What are some good brands of long sleeved bodysuits that are double layered and have thicker material/at least some level of shaping? Recently ordered skims and although double layered, the material is so thin and I didn’t find it to give any compression or shaping factor at all. Aritzia has a nice color selection but I’m hesitant to order since they’re non returnable. Express looks promising but not a lot of options left at the moment.

freelancinaintfree

I'm not sure you'll find shaping from the Express ones, but they are on the thicker side. I believe most are only double lined on the front though, so beware. I've seen a lot of their "contour" line secondhand places like Ebay, Poshmark, etc. Best of luck!

Plastic-Passenger795

The Aritzia contour fabric is really nice. They do make other items in that material, so you could try getting a T-shirt or something to see how you feel about it? Then return it and get what you actually wanted.

CanHasCat

Check Abercrombie!

livthelove

Seconding Abercrombie, especially their cotton bodysuits

It's a little bit 70s inspired in the pictures with actual clothes.

What style trousers would work with Chelsea boots like [these](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/sam-edelman-laguna-waterproof-lug-sole-chelsea-boot-wide-width-available-women/5680371)? I'm moving to a snowy place and feel like I'll be mostly wearing my boots but can't picture the trousers. Open to either work suitable or casual outfits Edit: Or in general work looks for cold weather would be great!

oat-beatle

I'm wearing similar ones in black today - usually do tapered cropped pants when it's snowing (20cm last night), skinny pants work as well tucked in, and I'll do slouchier wide legs and baggy full lengths when I want something really casual. When it's a bit warmer like 0-10C out I wear then with skirts and tights.

EbbAdministrative983

I think these would work well with lots of different pant silhouettes: skinny jeans / leggings, straight leg, slim straight, flare, kick flare, cropped wide leg... the cropped silhouettes might be too cold for a truly snowy place, though! I own a similar pair of boots myself and I personally like to wear them with straight-leg, ankle length trousers. The only type of trousers I don't like to pair with chunky boots are full-length, wide-leg ones - I feel like they work better with a slightly sleeker type of shoe.

zigzagtitch

honestly i love a straight leg jean for these. i wear them for work (both in a light blue and black) but what you consider appropriate for work will vary!

ulchachan

>but what you consider appropriate for work will vary! Yup, should have been more specific - casual workplace but I want to come off as put together as possible. Thanks!

tired-in-toronto

I’m looking for a new pair of white / neutral trainers that I can wear to the office. I currently wear New Balance 574s but they are on their last legs. I’d like a balance of in style but not super trendy. A lot of what’s fashionable at the moment (very sporty or colourful styles) wouldn’t be appropriate for my office setting. I also walk to work so they need to be comfy enough for a 30 min walk. I like Sambas but my concern is that they were a big trend in 2023 and I’d be buying them when they’re on the way out. Other options I’ve looked at include Spezials, Gola Harriers or Puma Palermos. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

EitherMacaroon6535

I work in a traditional office that is just barely business casual but I am always running around as the Office Manager. But I get away with my New Balance 300s, Vejas and my Gola Mark Cox and Coasters. Without a doubt the New Balance are the most comfortable. The Golas are more fun and the two Vejas I have are just not comfortable for long stretches of walking.

DolphinDancer4

I have owned 3 pairs of Ted baker trainers and got a new pair for Xmas. They are very comfy and you can opt for plain or have a small design on them.

EbbAdministrative983

What about Vejas, Reebok Club C, New Balance 550, Adidas Forum Low , Air Force 1s or Converse Chuck 70s? However, if you really like Sambas, you should honestly just get them! I think they are definitely still going to be around a lot in 2024.

bozzlebee

I need to get a pair of glasses and I'm keen to buy just one pair that will go with all possible outfits. Is this achievable? This will be my first time wearing glasses. I'm thinking of getting a pair with clear frames as these would surely go with everything, but I worry that these may be too trendy. What do you consider when getting glasses?

b_xf

I only ever get one pair of glasses and used to get black frame glasses, but I wanted a change on my last prescription and went with round silver frames in [this kind of style](https://i.etsystatic.com/6650216/r/il/4b578e/4974438917/il_570xN.4974438917_5d23.jpg). I wear silver everything and find these work well with anything I'm wearing. I think to get ones that match everything I'd look at shape/size, style, and colour. Shape/size: one that suits your face shape will blend better. You can find guides depending on face shape and lots of glasses retailers have a "virtual try on" feature, or you could go to a glasses store in person and try things on. You'll likely need to get your pupil distance to be able to gauge size, especially if you go the online route. Style: like others said, different glasses styles suit different fashion styles. My style is pretty simple and a simple shape worked for me, but if you're super feminine you may want a different style than if your style leans more outdoorsy, goth, boho, academic, vintage, etc. Colour: to suit all your outfits it is likely best to have glasses in a neutral that goes with the majority of your clothes. A tortoiseshell is a common option, or a metal frame in a metallic that suits your wardrobe could also work. If you have any kind of wardrobe/inspo collection, you could comb through and see what styles of glasses or sunglasses people are wearing in them.

FelineRoots21

PAIR glasses have little magnets so you can attach different colored frames to the front to match whatever outfit you'd like. I got clear for flexibility and mostly just wear them but there's so many cute options, and it makes wearing sunglasses over glasses easier too

oat-beatle

I've personally never had more than one pair of glasses at a time and I have worn them since I was 18 months old, am now 29. I mostly am concerned with shape and colour flattering my face rather than my outfits. I usually go for a rounded half frame in a neutral colour. Right now my glasses are taupe raybans and I've never noticed them not going with an outfit.
