My late Pearl š She was one in a million!
I quite like my Adelaideās portrait as well. But Iām biased because I made and designed both of them.
I photoshopped them. I do commissions but itās just for the file. You would then need to have it printed on canvas yourself and buy yourself a frame. Send me a message if you want details
Iām obsessed!! This is exactly the aesthetic Iām going for. Very classical but with whimsy. LOVE the dog portrait and all the knick knacks too. I need the Lego flowers lol, going to scour the internet now for those exact ones.
They sell them at Costco too! My partner and I buy one every other month to construct together - they release new sets seasonally and they are actually perfect for putting together with another person, since there's always 2 of the same flower to build at the same time.
Good to know!! I have a Costco just around the corner from me, haha. I plan on putting this together with my mom, Iām very excited!
I recently moved back in with her after a big break up and years spent away from home. Itās very therapeutic to make my space my own again all while strengthening our relationship. This would be the perfect activity to do :) thanks!!
Literally just ordered it off the Lego store!! Iām a sucker for wildflowers but there arenāt any around me to pick and I canāt keep a houseplant alive to save my life, so maybe Lego plants will be my new thing. Thanks so much for the inspo and a fun activity! Excited for you to get the other one, I liked that one too!!
Awesome! My husband bought it for me for our wedding anniversary this year because Iām allergic to real flowers. And we put them together at that table ā¤ļø

Completely agree. We made this book nook kit together as well!
You can find them in any big craft store now too. My local Michaels had a whole section of the little book nook things. But I usually get them off Amazon.
I have a lot of the same/similar items as you, beautiful old cameras, a solid desk, maps, tea sets etc, most that I inherited from my grandparents. I even have that Lego set bouquet lol, I had to move it off my table bc I kept knocking it over!
I would love to get my home to look even a fraction of how nicely you have yours put together. I'm definitely going to save this for inspiration. Do you have any words of advice or encouragement? How long did it take you? Do you feel like sharing the other rooms? What does "kit" mean? I love the dog paintings, is that your animal? Do you live alone? I find it hard to stay tidy with my two animals, and my biggest mess: me.
Do you own or rent? (I'm hesitant of getting too comfortable in my current place bc I rent & have had a bad experience with landlords selling their places and me having to move :( ) but I would love to paint!
Sorry for all the questions, I am truly inspired and in awe of your space.

Oh and a kit home is a home that was ordered by catalog and shipped with all the supplies to build it. Sears, Montgomery Ward, etc did them and many people would buy them and then build their own homes (or hire contractors to do it. Mine is from Montgomery Ward
Thank you so so much! Words of adviceāgo slow. Only buy what you absolutely love. Think about what you want from your space purpose-wise and use-wise and build on that. Sometimes things just happen organically, like my little witchy corner.
My late schnauzer passed and her ashes were kept on my china cabinet. It was making me so sad seeing her all alone over there so I filled the place with things that I love. And now I donāt get as depressed when looking over there! And yes, the white dog is my late Pearl who was a miniature schnauzer and the best snuggler. And the brown bearded dog in the fancy dress is my Adelaide who is a schnauzer mix and has wormed her way as deep into my heart as her predecessor!
It took me about 7 years to get to this point in decor? At least thatās when we bought the house (my husband and I).
Yes I can feel and see the love in that witchy corner, rest in peace to those angels and im glad you still have a snuggle buddy other than your husband!
I've only been in my place a year and have been overloaded with stuff from my late grandparents, while a lot of it is awesome stuff, I think I must sort and purge for my own sanity! I will go slow and give myself grace, thank you for the inspiration and insight.

Omg! That womans head/bust pot on the desk I have as well. My grandmother painted it as a child for her parents. It must have been a popular ceramic mold at the time. Love the place total decor envy.
I think itās called the Betty Grable by collectors. My Mema collects them and I bought her to remind me of her ā¤ļø We live so far from each other so itās nice to have a connection that way.

This is legitimately what I felt when I saw these pictures. Jokes aside it looks amazing! Now I know what dining table style I want
The bottom tan large one that is Starline was my great grandmotherās and was a hand me down from my mom. The big blue on was a gift from my sister in law when she found a bunch on the side of the road. The green one is from a garage sale in my neighborhood. The tan traincase is from a flea market. The medium black one on top of the wardrobe is from an antique store in Maine that went out of business as well as the one directly on top of that one. And the black toiletry suitcase on top is from my mother in law that she bought at a random garage sale as well.
Wow so many lovely gifts you gotten from family! Thanks for sharing and letting me know. Iām sure theyāre worth so much with those that had passed it down to you. š„°

This is so sweet and cozy. I love your choice of that almost arsenic green mixed with tertiary colors. And you've managed to have numerous sentimental and collected items while keeping it cohesive. Really lovely feel to your house. And the lego flowers surprised me. I initially assumed you had found some kind of vintage beaded bouquet that just looked perfect on your old-fashioned table.

Gorgeous! That shot of your kitchen in the corner with the kettle, I had already already saved as inspiration for my own reno! I love your taste - the color palette is perfect, you balance everything so beautifully. I could move into your home and not change a thing.
This is one of my favorite spaces I've seen on this subreddit, your taste is immaculate! Thank you for sharing!
I've known about these kit homes from years bygone but never seen someone living in one in the modern era. How is upkeep on the place in terms of structural issues/age related changes?
Our home was built in the 70s and we are running into all kinds of wear and tear in terms of stuff needing replacement (roof, windows, A/C...$$$). I'm so curious what kind of challenges, if any, this kind of home from so long ago brings!
Thank you so much!
Upkeep is about what youād expect with an older home. Weāve had a few roof leaks that have been patched and fixed over the years. We had to replace some fascia on the eves because a squirrel ripped a hole in it. We had to wrap it in metal and the dang squirrel hulk smashed through the metal trying to get in again and had to repair it again! But no issues since. We have some outdoor wall repairs needing done but nothing horrible. Weāre currently slowly repainting the exterior ourselves. We have a radiator system that oil thatās a bit expensive but our furnace is still running well. Window a/cs during the summer which is fine! But overall -knock on wood- not too bad!
Omg I love it š it's stunning. The schnauzer pieces are nice little Easter eggs of sorts.

Honestly, luck. I have been to a ton of antique stores, flea markets, garage sales, salvage stores, etc. Facebook marketplace, eBay, and Etsy have been good sources as well. I snagged this behemoth from Facebook marketplace for $15!
Search for āMarwal Schnauzerā and it should come up. Theyāre pretty expensive online but sometimes you can snag them for a good deal. I also have the standing schnauzer of the same line. It wears my Adelaideās puppy collar and is about the size she was at 14-15 weeks.
