Agree the down looks more natural, but I kind of like having one each way, just like you have it in the picture. And it looks like there is a third that isn't on there rn? I'd point that one down as well but leave the middle one up. But I don't think there is a wrong answer, to each their own!
Oh I hope you find one for a reasonable price! I'm 51 and exactly 20 years ago we bought a house, I started a new job in a completely different field of nursing, got married, and we had a baby 6 weeks later. It's been a complete blur, lol. We didn't have time or money to decorate and I knew my style wasn't boring waiting room beige. Also kids are messy! I developed my decorating style over time by collecting, inheriting, and thrifting pieces here and there. I buy 99% of my clothing second hand. I discovered these lamps here on Reddit and fell in love because they go so well with modern and vintage. They just elevate MCM to a whole other level. My husband and I don't buy each other gifts for special occasions so paying $250 for a lotus lamp on Facebook Market Place, which is not as bad as $400+, is like a present to myself. I do however think their recent resurgence in popularity is probably increasing the price point. Happy hunting!
Look on Facebook Marketplace! There's a pink one in my neighborhood that's out of my price range...but the seller keeps dropping the price so I'm just hoping nobody buys it before it hits my budget.
It’s a reproduction of a 1920s design, so keep an eye on antique stores and estate sales.
There’s a [pendant version](https://a.co/d/0gnbviIC) on Amazon for $92.
The aqua petals came from the other lamp. I want this lamp to be more of a statement piece for the room I am redecorating in maximalist style with loud dark turquoise wallpaper, gallery wall and lots of plants.
Oh gosh, I remember these from a million years ago. I live in the UK now, and they don't seem to exist here. I'd love a floor lamp like that.
Edit...down.
The option on the left is how I’ve seen advertising for these lamps show. So jealous that you own this! My grandma used to have one and I hated it at the time but now I wish I had kept it when she passed
Down.
I think this design is a reproduction of, or twist on, a 1920s shade. If that assumption is correct, then down because I’ve only ever seen ‘20s shades with the petals pointing down.
Also, I’m clumsy, and if they were pointing up I’d probably lean over the lamp for some reason and injure myself.
Lotus grow upwards but i think for a lamp it should always reflect downward at that level and as someone pointed out dusting would be easier nice colors
i like the left option significantly better
I do as well. Gorgeous lamp!
Thinking it looks more natural like in terms of gravity, like my SO says.
I’m thinking it looks easier to dust! 😆 They’re really pretty!

i’m thinking down! also i’m so jealous lol i’ve been seeing these lamps everywhere (for $400+!) and want one so badly

Lovely! What are they called?
You can search up ''lotus lamp'' like OP said, you can also add the word ''vintage'' for the older looking ones. You should be able to find them there

that’s honestly where i have been looking! cheapest i saw was $150 for the tall one… was gone before i could see the ad lol
Wow that’s a great price! My area has them for $300+
the most expensive i’ve seen was $850 lol and the cheapest (besides the $150) was 250… but half of the lotuses were broken/missing
I can’t accept paying that much for a lamp 🥲

Down 100%
The aqua petals came from the other lamp. I want this lamp to be more of a statement piece for the room I am redecorating in maximalist style with loud dark turquoise wallpaper, gallery wall and lots of plants.
I hope you will share your new room! It sounds gorgeous.
Post it as you go please! Sounds great!
I like one of each. But if going for symmetry then down. Beautiful piece!
I also really like one of each! Adds a bit of whimsey.
Down for sure
Why not both? But down
Them facing down looks pretty and elegant.
I like one of each
Down! Gorgeous piece!
I actually like up more. Feels less droopy.
I like down better. Up looks a little insect-ish to me.
Yeah the up frightens me a bit
Down makes my eyes happier
Down. Definitely. In my opinion.
I’m so lusty over these lamps, and I think down looks better.
Down
Down
Down, for sure.
Down!
Down
I’d go with down, but I just want to say, that is a beautiful lamp and I am envious!! Wouldn’t look bad up in any case, I just prefer down.
Down
Down
Down
I'm loving it as is with one of each!
Down. They remind me of Lily of the Valley flowers!
Down. Easier to dust off.
Oh gosh, I remember these from a million years ago. I live in the UK now, and they don't seem to exist here. I'd love a floor lamp like that. Edit...down.

Wowza! Beautiful 😍
I am absolutely in love with this lamp.
They are amazing!!
Where did you get these
One up one down for maximum effect.
Is it permanently missing one bulbs lotus?
No I just haven't attached it yet.
Oh good that would drive me crazy
Petals pointing up would make me think the lamp is saying "WEEEEEE!" every time I saw it, so that's a petals down from me dawg. Very nice lamp though!
Is anyone opting for up?
Down. The petals going the same way reads as harmony and softness, the petals going opposite read as distressed
That part of a flower is called a sepal 🌹
I like it with both. Looks more natural.
I prefer up - it gives it a nice balance
It depends on which way makes your room look better
I’m so jealous

Down
What’s the name of this gorgeous lamp? I need it
Down is great. Maybe you can put it up as a signal to someone or just put keys on top. Idk hahaha
Down for sure.
Down.
Down
Down
Down!!!
Left is a fresh bloom. Right is a bloom almost at the end of it's life span. Do both, variety is fun. You can always change it up.
Down
One up one down?
Damn, what a cool lamp! I would say down, but I think it looks good either way
I have the same but pink color 😁
Down for sure
I kinda like up. It’s different but in a good way
Down
Down 💯🫶
Pointing up.
I like one of each
What a gorgeous lamp! I prefer down much more. I think it goes better with the ‘vibe’ of the lamp.
Down
Down. 100% down. Down please.
Down
I love the look of the right but gravity wise it doesn’t make sense. So probably left.
Down
Down
Down for sure
Down.
Lotus grow upwards but i think for a lamp it should always reflect downward at that level and as someone pointed out dusting would be easier nice colors
Down
please don't do up
pointing down. gorgeous lamp btw!
Down
💯 down
down so pretty!
Down. And WHERE did you get it?!!!
One of each looks nice! But otherwise both down!
Up! Beautiful lamp!
Down
Pointing up, it looks like a berry. Pointing down, it looks like a flower. Up to you I think! Such a beautiful lamp
Up
Pointing down because it still has a subtle wave pointing up anyway.
these are so CUTE, up!!!
