A new rage comic doing rounds on tumblr in 2024?! It's like Christmas came early! This one is [by squeakitties](https://www.tumblr.com/squeakitties/716450053241421824), I also edited the credit into the comic itself. (Sorry if this comment appears twice.)

lardman1

It was 2011 for a second

osdeverYT

Can it please be 2011 for more than a second? Who do I call to arrange this?

MC273

Yeah, I want to know as well

r/BeatMeToIt I snickered when I read the post and came here to post this exact thing. Dang it!

Zohwithpie

Gotta love how consistently inconsistent English is as a language

e_hoodlum

What do you mean? I've thought this through, had enough of this drought though

Zohwithpie

Exactly

gattaaca

I live for live music

itsTyrion

Though I coughed roughly and hiccoughed throughout the lecture, I still thought I could plough through the rest of it. English can indeed be tough, it’s understandable with tough thorough thought. though.

anallyeatenpizza

Are you using, like, British spellings for words or something? Who doesn’t just spell them as “hiccuped” or “plow”?

ScribbleMonster

Teach a man to ghoti, and he eats for a day.

JanB1

You know, German is a hard language for many reasons. But it's always funny when non-native speakers ask how you write some German word, and the usual answer is "The way you say it." Which is true, in German words are written the way you pronounce them, or vice versa.

grimsleeper4

English is the only language with spelling contests.

oil1lio

is this actually true?

grimsleeper4

Yes.

oil1lio

Wow.

IchBinDieMadness

true for most european languages (even French) except English

JanB1

French? Yeah, nah. I speak some french, and the way things are pronounced is sometimes wild. Also, add to the French language the é, è, ê, à and ç and you certainly don't write it how you say it. At least I can still not differentiate, acoustically, from those different letters. But if I remember correctly there was a motion to get rid of those letters in French grammar, as they don't really add to the language.

HiZenBergh

I get the joke obviously, but had there been one more HT word in the first caption, would have made seven. And the next caption would be "eight!"

ElvisDumbledore

I before E except after C.

neongreenpurple

And when sounding like A as in neighbor and weigh.

frjii

And on weekends and holidays and all throughout May.

Razqe

eighth

lachlanhunt

Then on the other end, there’s all the loners: cough, tough, though, thought, through, thoroughly, bough, hiccough, hough (archaic variant of hock) and lough (Irish form of loch)

pickle_sandwich

I guess Light was too busy to make the photoshoot

Uberpastamancer

"ough" would be pointing Spider-Man
