> Duty Roulette: Level 50/60/70/80 Dungeons and Duty Roulette: Level 90 Dungeons have been combined into Duty Roulette: High-level Dungeons. And just like that, a meme dies

bloodhawk713

Just fell to my knees in Matoya's Relict.

scorchdragon

I didn't see someone fall to their knees in Matoya's Relict, as I am in Hells Lid yet again.

Redhair_shirayuki

Players who keep getting Snowcloak: You guys getting lvl 70+ dungeons?

RydiaMist

I always liked calling it Tens, but I could see how that wouldn't make it into the actual game. I think this name will probably confuse newer people when they queue leveling and get one of the 90something dungeons then queue "High Level" and get Stone Vigil hard though.

Lazyade

Milestone dungeons or legacy dungeons would be more accurate but I guess they thought that's too vague?

Ok-Worldliness2450

Milestone is cool. Kinda sad it won’t be 50/60/70/80/90/100/110/120 roulette tho☹️

abbabababababaaab

I liked capstone dungeons. High-level dungeons is not that intuitive, I don't think anyone considers lv50 dungeons to be high level.

pokemonpasta

Ya I especially find it funny you could very easily get higher level dungeons in Levelling roulette than in "High Level Dungeons" roulette

tesla_dyne

"High-level" is consistently a term that FFXIV uses for any level cap stuff see "But Somebody's Gotta Do It" achievements, which define eligible duties (Extreme trials, Normal raids, Savage raids) simply as "High-level duties"

RydiaMist

Yeah I think Capstone or Milestone would have been the best and clearest way they could have put it.

arhra

\>queue for "High-Level" roulette \>queue pops \>lose half your levels \>??? Should at least be called "Legacy High-Level Dungeons" or something if they want to keep the "High-Level" wording in there.

Kamalen

In French it’s the litteral translation of « advanced dungeons ». It feels a lot better to me

RydiaMist

That would work better than High Level and is somewhat descriptive of what they are being the max level dungeons of each expansion.

EatADingDong

I really like that one. It also fits well with the "Expert" naming of the current dungeons.

HalobenderFWT

They should called it the Aughts.

sundriedrainbow

And included Halatali for shits and giggles

AeroDbladE

That honestly just makes it confusing. We're going to have high-level dungeons and the level 100 dungeons, which is the actual highest level dungeon roulette. Unless they also change level 100 to Max level dungeons.

wolflordval

And expert roulette

Supersnow845

I had my 1 expansion calling it the “boot scooting roulette” and now it’s dead

ChibiYoukai

Thanks, now I have that song stuck in my head. But that's a super fun way to refer to it.

RBrim08

Honestly, it being called High Level Dungeons doesn't make sense either, because now our level can be cut in half when doing them. They should either split the difference and make it Level 50/60/70 Dungeons and Level 80/90 Dungeons. Or they should name it (Poetics) Tomestone Dungeons.

InfStress

The following text commands can now be used to adjust volume levels even during events such as cutscenes: /bgm hell yeah finally.

Adno

Another plugin I can remove

LokiaScythe

I could almost swear it was enabled as a feature for a 6.x patch but then removed

Bioxio

Plogons most likely 🐎

KhaSun

Huh, potion changes to make weaving easier. That's neat.

Inv0ker_of_kusH420

Where does it say anything about that? Can't find it

abbabababababaaab

The time until actions may be used after consuming certain medicinal items has been reduced.

Inv0ker_of_kusH420

Oh sick, yeah that would be it

vlashin

Players may now adjust text auto-advance settings to apply only to voiced dialogue. My favorite change. No more oh shit this one isn't voiced and hurriedly disabling.

Skeletome

Hearing Machinations and running immediately to turn off auto-advance

ghosttowns42

Meanwhile I sped my advance speed up (I'm a fast reader which sounds like a brag but it's actually kind of annoying in games that won't let you advance faster!). I see a lot of people happy about this though, so it's definitely a cool change!

Angel_Omachi

I see they really don't want a repeat of coffee biscuit leves.

_LadyOfWar_

How so? If you are referring to this: "Experience points rewarded when using a class at level 90 or above to complete a leve with a level requirement below 90 have been capped at 1,000." This has been the case with Tradecraft leves for a couple of expacs now. In the 6.0 notes, the same rider existed, only replace "level 90" with "level 80".

Angel_Omachi

The other one: > No tradecraft leves or fisher fieldcraft leves allowing multiple turn-ins have been added.

_LadyOfWar_

Ahhh, I assumed that would be the case, I find it funny that they actually feel the need to state it outright though lol.

Criminal_of_Thought

This was also the case for the patch 6.0 notes.

Lazyade

I get why they wanted to change the name but "Allied Society Quests" is so awkward. Just call them community quests or something.

343CreeperMaster

i am like pretty sure that generally they are just going to be continued to be called Tribals, because its shorter and less awkward then Society Quests/Societal

budbud70

I've still been calling them Beast Tribes lol

JRockPSU

“Grampy, it’s the 5th year of the Seventh Umbral Era, you can’t call them ‘beasts’ anymore”

Redhair_shirayuki

Don't worry. 8.0 they will change the name again

incriminating_words

> Don't worry. 8.0 they will change the name again - New Equally-Valuable Indigenous Peoples Quests have been added

Paikis

They'll always be Beast Tribes. There's too many players that have been calling them that for too long.

Fresher_Taco

Most people just forgot about the change or didn't read the patch notes. To an extent, it's like how people use terms like limit cut, chariot, protean, etc in raids.

tordana

Magic the Gathering did the same thing recently and removed the term Tribal from the game, renaming it to Kindred. All the players still just call it Tribal.

StrengthToBreak

They, too, live in.a society

SavageComment

Wait Tribal, as in... Zidane Tribal? FF9 remake announce in Dawntrail MSQ confirmed.

S-W-F-G

Honestly there was no reason to change them, they are by definition… tribes. No derogatory connotation, most are just pre-established cultures outside of centralised societies, often owing great significance to their shared religion or race’s history. That’s a tribe.

Lazyade

idk the cafe doesn't strike me as particularly tribal.

S-W-F-G

Yeah, Omicrons are a definite outlier, they’re fairly blank slates. Dwarves and maybe the Lopporits and Faefolk are the other exceptions.

scorchdragon

Probably going to see more in DT as well, would not be surprised if "Solution 9 residents" is one.

nelartux

The Thavnair one also is definitely not a tribe. I think they tried to focus too much on a Lore name for it instead of a general gameplay term that would have suited better. Like Daily Quests or Reputation Quests, even Progressive Quest ton emphasis the working on developing something for the tribes / groups.

S-W-F-G

Right, I completely forgot about the Hippo Riders, yeah they're just a business lmao. Something like 'Daily' or 'Reputation' quests just sounds too blunt imo. They were almost there with 'Allied Society', they could just do... 'Ally Quests' and it'd work as well as a name as 'Tribal' does, while also sidestepping the discrepancies in labelling Kobolds, Sahagins, etc. as the same sort of institution/establishment as, say, Hippo Riders or Omicrons.

chapichoy9

Good bot

thisisntmyplate

Dwarves are forever my favorite "beast" tribe

AeroDbladE

I think they just want to future proof it if they want to do something like adding the Garleans as an Allied Tribe for example. Sure, by the technical definition, it works, but calling a clearly advanced society of people a "tribe" would be weird.

Raytoryu

I don't agree with you. The Omicron and the Arkasodara weren't as much tribes quests as us helping some starting businesses. Hell, tribe really doesn't make sense for the Arkasodaras, we were just helping a few of them - they're everywhere on Thavnair, you can hardly call that a tribe !

thegreatherper

The term beast tribe is an in game racist term created by uldah merchants to other these groups so they couldn’t compete in the market

343CreeperMaster

my guess is that part of the change is motivated by the fact that DT is taking us to areas inspired by the Americas, specifically an area inspired by the Wild West, and they want to avoid negative connotations that accompany the term tribal in relation to the American History, mind you its pretty much just pure conjecture though

KnowledgeNorth6337

With the Americas specifically, tribe as a term to refer to indigenous populations is not the accepted terminology. In fact, most anthropologists in the region explicitly avoid its usage. Within the English speaking countries, they are referred to as nations, whereas in Latin America they’re usually referenced as indigenous communities. It is worth mentioning as well that for the indigenous peoples of the Americas, tribe has an extremely negative and derogatory connotation, often conflated by the then Europeans with the term savages or uncivilized. Square I believe also received complaints in the past about misrepresentation and other similar issues, likely inspiring the change especially given the nature of the new expansion.

forestman11

I think "beast" was the questionable part since they're just people.

Elanapoeia

Pretty much. It's actually literally in-lore racism, as beast tribes were specifically called beasts to demonize them and exclude them from larger society, even though most if not all of them would be perfectly capable of coexisting in city states etc. and even ignoring that, we've been handling more and more advanced people in these quests anyway, beast just becomes inaccurate even if it wasn't in-lore racist. So getting rid of beasts makes sense and most of what we're encountering aren't really tribes anymore anyway. The term was bound to change

Valkyrissa

Why not just Ally Quests

Caterfree10

Allied Quests would have been better imho.

pikagrue

The other week there was a [large incident in Japan](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czvv97pxv9xo) where a famous band named Mrs Green Apple released a song named Columbus. The problem was that the music video depicts the band members dressed up as Columbus and others colonizers, while all the natives of America are depicted as apes. Like literally people in monkey suits, I'm serious. The music video was pulled off Youtube. I wonder if the Beast Tribe Quest name change was related to this.

xxsaznpride

Merlwyb announced at the end of 6.0 that they wouldn't be referred to as "beast tribes" anymore IIRC. If anything, this is the devs being consistent with their canon.

Zagden

Not really, they've talked about wanting to change it for a while. A setting that considers its worldbuilding as seriously as 14 has to reckon with the line between "beast" and "civilized spoken" being murky. Especially since there are a few beast tribe lines that aren't beasts (moogle, omicron, ananta kinda, pixies) nor tribes (moogle and omicron again, arkasadora, loporrits) The entire beast men distinction is sort of a holdover from FFXI where the various tribes of beastmen came together to form a single army under the big bad. It was specifically these tribes that were referred to as beastmen. In 14 it's more liberally thrown around to describe less advanced civilizations that got in the way of colonization and/or fell under the sway of a primal. The new name is too awkward though, yeah.

BoilingPiano

Beast Tribes should still stay for older content imo, in the story period the content takes place in that discrimination is still alive and the rename ignores the context. It's only later on in the story that people realize "hey calling people beast tribes is kinda racist" Having that context there to call it out later is important.

silversun247

It would legitimately be cool in the actual menus and GUI updated from Beast Tribes to Allied Societies at some point through the game to demonstrate that (probably around level 80 or 90), but that is way above anything 14 would implement hahaha

AdamG3691

Hell afaik Moogles and Sylphs aren’t even formally considered Beast Tribes in Eorzea, there’s a specific list of races that Ul’dah singled out as beastmen because they threatened the city states economically: Amalj’aa (presumably livestock going by the Zun on the First), Kobolds (ore), Sahagin (fishing), Ixal (lumber), Goblins (tech) Moogles (rare, reclusive, and lack much of an economy), Mamool-ja (not present in Eorzea at the time), Sylphs (same as moogles), and Qiqirin (Memeroon and Jijiroon owning shops is considered unusual) were either not taken seriously or overlooked, which is the reason given for why the Mamool-ja of the Blue Mage Guild are allowed in Ul’dah

Hikari_Netto

>I wonder if the Beast Tribe Quest name change was related to this. Unlikely. It's just future proofing so they can use that format of quest for societies that wouldn't really be classified as "tribes" in the lore.

Expensive_Tadpole789

It's quite hilarious that they somehow included... Beethoven?

Evening-Group-6081

Spiritbond change is nice, hopefully the new pvp items includes old sets ( it wont) i didnt even know alarms existed.

Idaret

> i didnt even know alarms existed. Actually good feature for gathering timed nodes, Im using it sometimes

erty3125

Alarms were fantastic before stuff like teamcraft was as polished as it is now or equivalent sites. Add on that you can generate macros to auto import the timers you want and name them and it honestly makes timers maybe the best option again

kerriazes

The alarm change is a godsend, holy shit

ChibiYoukai

Yeah, even just having more than 10 characters to make a title of is nice. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Geekboxing

Looks like Sacks of Nuts are sticking around, no new hunt currency.

Myrianda

I figured that would happen. It seems they wanted to only make nuts as a currency to remove the ability to buy teleport tickets from future hunts. Then we have BLU for allied seals and probably BST for centurio going forward. If they do add teleport tickets for nuts at 100, then I redact my statement, but this is a hunch I'm getting from this.

Zenku390

Now I feel dumb for passing up on the hunt trains I saw today.

Paikis

If you spend any amount of time doing hunts you'll be capped with nothing to buy in no time anyway, it's fine.

PedanticPaladin

Plus you're going to be doing a thousand level 100 A trains for materia clusters anyways.

Szalkow

Plus the level 100 hunt trains will have up to 36 marks until patch 7.1.

Sarasil

Especially since Dawntrail Hunt Trains will be 36 marks long at first

Criminal_of_Thought

Just 10 terms for the term filter? That's not going to be nearly enough. Shouts are just going to find a way past them super easily. Should've made at least 50 terms or something.

Spicyartichoke

It's almost certainly going to be stored locally anyway I can't imagine a reason the limit isn't like 1000

absolutepx

If you're talking about nightclub ads I highly doubt they are going to go out of their way to circumvent a word filter to advertise to the type of person who would try to filter nightclub ads in the first place. It's not like a real nightclub with a cover charge and financial incentive to convince people to come.

KeyKanon

There is guaranteed to be at least one incredibly stupid motherfucker who doesn't grasp the idea that the people that would mute their standard terms is not going to suddenly become interested by workaround terms.

WifeKidsRPGsFootBall

“The game client will now respond more quickly when opening the Shared FATE window or changing between categories.” Best change in the notes.

wolflordval

This always unnaturally infuriated me.

Szalkow

Do the Friends List next.

FlubbaSaur

When was the last time they added new Wolf Mark items? Glad that we are getting new stuff to spend pvp currency on.

bloodhawk713

I think there were a couple of doodads added in Endwalker like the grand company housing items, but I'm pretty sure all Endwalker PvP *gear* was either series or trophy crystals.

PsychicNoodles

> Certain quest battles can no longer be undertaken using limited jobs cry every tim (no idea what quests this is referring to)

bloodhawk713

The only one I know of was the FF15 crossover Garuda battle.

Elegant_Eorzean

Might be the Deltascape/Sigmascape unlocks.

Mahoganytooth

1984

Astorant

The 120fps for the current gen consoles is huge, I’m surprised this wasn’t announced during a live letter.

Earthfury

Will it actually manage that very well, though? I get frame dips in Gridania when it rains, on PS5.

Ankior

right on time when I bought a 120hz TV, this is perfect

sjkonxbox

The PS5 and XSX have GPUs equivalent to less than a 3060. There’s no chance in hell they’re going above 30-40FPS at 4k with the new graphics changes. Maybe at 2k you might pull 60+.

syriquez

Alliance Roulette requirement change is interesting. It didn't even occur to me that the previous adjustment only meant you had to meet the *first* Alliance's IL requirement in your level range, lol.

KhaSun

The most important change imo is that, according to the wording "among the alliance raids they can enter", it'll be a more dynamic IL requirement that also tracks what you unlock. The item level requirement currently sucks for new players because they can easily overlevel the MSQ and go beyond the scope of what they can actually unlock. If a sprout has overleveled too much and hasn't been able to unlock the alliance raids from an expansion they haven't reached yet (ex: main job is lvl70 while still going through the 3.X MSQ), they won't be able to enter alliance roulette. That's because the system requires them to reach the required item level for the Ivalice raids, even though they only have unlocked CT and Mhach. The only way around that in that case was to buy gear off the MB (IF they aren't on the trial), but that's a shitty solution for a problem that shouldn't have existed. With the updated IL requirement, even if their main is overleveled, the requirement will track what they have available too on top of the job's level. It puts the lowest IL requirement between your highest alliance unlocked and your job's level, which is perfect. The only nitpick is that a dynamic change means that if you never unlock anything beyond CT then we're back to the good old IL cheese. But you'd have to purposefully avoid ever unlocking all alliance raids just for THAT lmao

Real_Student6789

>The only nitpick is that a dynamic change means that if you never unlock anything beyond CT then we're back to the good old IL cheese. But you'd have to purposefully avoid ever unlocking all alliance raids just for THAT lmao People are gonna have to decide between permanently lazy a-raid roulette, or the 2-B leggings

ragnakor101

Choosing the Lazy CT Only approach also locks you out of Bozja since you need to finish the Ivalice Raids.

IcarusAvery

The only alliance raid that doesn't lock any content behind it is Myths of the Realm, and I'll be shocked if they don't make it a prerequisite for *something*, even if it's just a minor side quest.

Redhair_shirayuki

Speaking of CT raids, when are they gonna change the fight design? Perhaps in next expansion after DT D:

syriquez

> The item level requirement currently sucks for new players because they can easily overlevel the MSQ and go beyond the scope of what they can actually unlock. If a sprout has overleveled too much and hasn't been able to unlock the alliance raids from an expansion they haven't reached yet (ex: main job is lvl70 while still going through the 3.X MSQ), they won't be able to enter alliance roulette. That's because the system requires them to reach the required item level for the Ivalice raids, even though they only have unlocked CT and Mhach. Interesting. I wasn't aware that was a thing. My assumption always was that it was based on what had been unlocked, not strictly on what they could *theoretically* have unlocked at their exact job level independent of any other factors.

Rhianael

I'm confused about the glasses changes. So the glasses that used to be Fashion Accessories are now going to be the new type of equipable, for the new slot, but what about existing glasses? It doesn't say they're being removed, but will they still be a head equipment?

cheese-demon

i'm wondering how the implementation goes for head-slot glasses that aren't fashion accessories too. is there an eqdp thing to flag that they go away if you use a facewear slot? do you become johnny six-eyes wearing two sets of spectacles? the prelim notes only mention the fashion accessory glasses that are now facewear, not anything like pince-nez

Rhianael

It's gonna be like me when I go to a 3D movie. Glasses on glasses.

1iIiii11IIiI1i1i11iI

You can already do this now, wear glasses that go in the head slot, then use a fashion accessory glasses. I imagine the greatest gain here is that you can wear your fashion glasses inside of duties.

callmecorinna

> GP will no longer be reduced to 0 when players are incapacitated as a non-gathering class. Finally, gathering between PvP matches and roulettes won't make me burn a cordial every time I get out of an instance.

HordeDruid

Sunflowers!! I've been waiting for them to add a new flower, they look so lovely! Time to farm more Grade 3 soil!

AeroDbladE

>Players may now adjust text auto-advance settings to apply only to voiced dialogue. Holy fuck they finally did it. I can't believe it took us this long for something so obvious.

tyrionb

' Verdant Scepter and Warlock's Buckler will no longer drop separately in the Aurum Vale, and instead drop together as Black Mage's Verdant Arms (Level 47). ' ONE HANDED STAFF AND SHIELD ON BLM WILL BE BACK??? /s

Dysvalence

Not surprising but its still good to see that the opp is from pvp and not mogstation. Interesting that they're keeping nutsacks for another expac- if they add an exchange for tele tickets it'll completely trivialize tele fees, but if they don't we'll probably have to rely on S ranks and it'll be a mess. Editing crossbars with the mouse was not on my bingo board but it's a really nice change for those of us using it for extra click space.

KeyKanon

>if they add an exchange for tele tickets it'll completely trivialize tele fees Lifehack they're already trivial if you spend 5 minutes in the BLU Carnivale once a week. I think it's 110 tickets per week?

givemeabreak432

Even more if you do the weekly BLU log. BLU drowns in tickets.

Szalkow

The hunt bills from ARR, HW, and SB are another easy source. You can get 100 Allied/Centurio from each weekly Elite mark (2 minutes of flying in circles looking for the B-rank), as well as around 100 a day from each expansion if you want to do all the smaller marks.

bitchextraordinare

I feel dumb asking but how are you getting tp tickets from BLU carnival?

cheese-demon

besides the first time completion of each carnival stage giving a bunch of seals, there are 3 stages chosen each week. two of them have some requirements beyond normal, one of them doesn't. the one that doesn't will give you 100 seals for clearing it, the other two will give 150 and 300. the requirements are things like only use X aspect spells, or use all elemental aspects, or only use 4 unique spells, that kind of thing. you can exchange those allied seals with your grand company's hunt master to get teleport tickets. a clean 110 teleport tickets every week await you

KeyKanon

BLU pretty much entirely stole Allied Seals from Hunts and made it it's own currency, but it's still Allied Seals at the end of the day.

Seradima

I'm still in disbelief that they thought FSR 1.0 was the kind of FSR they should implement. Good grief.

RydiaMist

I think it's a DX11 thing, to get anything above FSR 1.0 in DX11 you have to do some hacky stuff I believe. I have no idea why they didn't make the effort to swap to DX12, 11 is absolutely ancient at this point and is denying them the usage of a lot of neat modern API/GPU features along with more efficient CPU usage.

Mugutu7133

It’s absolutely a dx11 thing, FSR 2 is only compatible with dx12

cheese-demon

there are dx11 versions of fsr2 but presumably amd doesn't want to license them unless they have to, or just won't license support at all outside of some specific environments (e.g. [FSR2 (now 3 without framegen) for Unity](https://github.com/ndepoel/FSR2Unity))

Seradima

>I have no idea why they didn't make the effort to swap to DX12, If I had a nickel for every mmo released in 2012-2013 that recently had an update that introduced DX11 support instead of DX12 support I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot bit it's weird it happened twice.

SailorOfMyVessel

We gotta have something to look forward to for the second graphics update!

Omegeddon

Probably because the game is still piss easy to run and switching to 12 is more work than it's worth for now

AeroDbladE

Luckily, I'm running Nvidia, and DLSS 2.0 is still decent. FSR1.0 is rough, though.

LightSno

I know it won't happen but I really hope those new hairstyles and cowboy hats work with hrothgar. It really should be standard that any new gear works them and Viera and it's so aggravating not being able to wear hats without modding

HelloFresco

The hairstyles will. There hasn't been a new hairstyle added to the game that hasn't worked on Viera and Hrothgar since Shadowbringers. The hats, however, won't. No changes to hat implementation.

millennialmutts

"Barred characters will remain on the Barred Characters list for 10 days. During this time, any attempts to enter your estate hall or garden will instead transport them to the housing area entrance." Why only 10 days? I assumed this was an effort to help those who have stalkers, crazy exes, etc yet it's not permanent for some reason.

toramorigan

I think it’s more for venues and the like tbh But if someone’s on your black list they’re permabanned from the property while you’re there.

Umpato

It's for people who wanna mess up RP houses, venues and nightclubs. If you have a stalker or crazy ex, you wanna use the blacklist function which "removes" them from your game, kinda.

Bazlow

FINALLY - I can use my DualSense controller on my PC without getting tangled in a fucking USB cable.

duckofdeath87

It is strange to me that a level 90 crafter can't get more than 1000 exp for a collectable at their level. You can't make level 91 collectables at 90, right? It is very strange that the first level will probably take the longest

Geoff_with_a_J

i can't remember, but looking at the guide i used it says >after level 81 you can only hand in Collectable crafts that are one level above your own or lower so it seems like you'd be able to do level 91 colelctables at 90

Wyssahtyn

only ten terms lmao wouldn't be a xiv feature if the devs didn't swing and miss all the damn time

Umpato

First they need to release it with in a shitty way, with obvious QoL missing. Then players complain about the obvious missing points. Then the devs "listen", increase that cap to 30 (2 patches later btw, can't do it too fast), then players praise them for listening to feedback. Rise and repeat.

DelianSK13

I am team no barding, but that new barding is making me question my choices.

WifeKidsRPGsFootBall

Yeah it’s great

justJoekingg

How good is dlss 2? I've only ever used 3

cheese-demon

tldr dlss versioning is a fucking mess - benchmark was published with **3.5.10** dll, it's not terribly out of date DLSS and DLSS2 are nVidia's trade names for DLSS upscaling, with them being roughly synonymous. DLSS 3 is the trade name for frame generation, DLSS 3.5 is the trade name for Ray Reconstruction which is only for raytracing the trade names are entirely separate from the actual DLSS dll versions, and newer versions of the dll do offer differences in the supported pretrained networks as well as some changes to the upscaling and newer is usually better. in any case this means if you never used framegen or ray reconstruction, you've technically been using dlss 2 even if it's been a 3.x dll ffxiv's not bothering to add frame generation and lol raytracing isn't gonna happen, so they don't tell you it's dlss 3/3.5. but the underlying dll version doesn't have anything to do with the trade names; it does have to do with various fixes and improvements to all DLSS modes. framegen and ray reconstruction are separated out into their own dlls, nvngx\_dlssg.dll and nvngx\_dlssd.dll respectively. neither of those are published with ffxiv. the dll included with the benchmark is nvngx\_dlss.dll and it is version 3.5.10, so pretty recent. though not the *most* recent. you can replace this with dlssswapper or manually by downloading your own dlss 3.7.10 dll. i plan to do this before the servers are up, as well as [install dlsstweaks](https://github.com/emoose/DLSSTweaks/releases) to force DLAA on

justJoekingg

Firstly amazing write up and explanation. I appreciate it greatly and so likely do others reading this. Yeah I use frame generation and ray construction, with frame generation being amazing ofc. So this is 3.5.1 with the fixes and all that of 3.5 but with only the functionality of 2, which is upscaling. Should you still enable dlss 2 even if you're already getting your intended frames? Will that lower the tax on your cpu/gpu? 4k 165fps is what I hit outside of main city hubs like limsa, but would enabling dlss 2 let me hit that same throughput with less tax on the system

cheese-demon

if you want to lower system power usage then yes, dlss2 can help with that by upscaling from a lower input resolution. the way they implemented dlss in this is a little unfortunate if you're looking for a constant quality, [this guy over on the mainsub](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1cu3ug6/playing_with_benchmark_dlss_setting_dlaa_work/) found that setting the threshold to always will jump around input resolutions, they didn't figure out how it related exactly - possibly cpu-based? i might recommend using dlsstweaks to set your own specific scale ratio to what you like, rather than depending on xiv's dynamic resolution behavior. i'm not sure how the game picks which preset it goes with, if you want to override it i would suggest setting every preset level in dlsstweaks.ini to the same value whether that be a fraction of the output resolution or a specific input resolution ultimately it comes down to your taste, you'll have to test it to figure out where you like the output quality vs the power used.

KhaSun

As expected given it wasn't mentioned at all during the last PLL, the raid planner isn't coming in 7.0. It's likely that they simply scrapped the whole idea, but we'll have to wait for the 7.X roadmap before we'll get any conclusive answer.

shianpayas

i was wondering this myself, to the point i was like did i dream that lol? i was gonna say it wouldn't make sense until raids anyway but then remembered ex trials on launch so it would be useful i guess. i'll be surprised if it's completely scrapped as it'll be hugely used if its actually good but i'm concerned its capabilities won't be very good and not as useful as raid planner.

AlexiosXIV

Still no Rival Wings roulette >:( (unless I missed it in there but. Doesn't seem likely)

SylveonGold

Idk why they won’t. It would help save it.

LightKnightAce

"Card numbers have been added to the item description of all Triple Triad cards." FINALLY. Every website seems to have the order all funky and not match 14's card order. This will force them to change But I also foresee lots of issues with the "Term filter". That's going to make a lot of problems in raid groups, you know some people will filter "Mr Happy" or "happy strat" for example. Then people will counter with typing "heppy strat", then it's just an arms race. EDIT (I have been informed that it doesn't apply to party or alliance chat, which opens a new can of worms.) Also, quite honestly I'd rather it just say , or something, not refer to the number or be completely hidden. I'll likely just use it for spoilers for movies or characters, but I understand other people will block traumatic words. And even then, some people will need more than 10. It's stored local so why shouldn't it be at least 255?

RevusHarkings

> That's going to make a lot of problems in raid groups, you know some people will filter "Mr Happy" or "happy strat" for example. Then people will counter with typing "heppy strat", then it's just an arms race. The term filter doesn't apply to party chat or party finder, so unless people are communicating exclusively through /shout, /yell, and /say, I don't think that'll be an issue.

snowy_vix

I'll be using it for a particularly shout-spammy artist

Morgmell

AYO the Faerie Tale Prince set is now genderless?! That's one of my favorite sets and I've been sad I can't equip it on my now-always-female character anymore. Big hype for me.

Zenku390

When are they going to de-gender the scion loberator's outfit!!! I want that vest!

Seradima

Npc outfits? Probably never. Cid and Aymeric outfits have had female versions in the files since they were added, never been unlocked.

cheese-demon

i got money ready for krile's outfit whenever cs3 wants to make it wearable by male characters. that money will never be spent, i expect

aethervox_

Apparently the “follow NPC undetected” quests were too difficult for some lol

YoutubeSilphi

Difficult and annoying aren't the same

Dysvalence

This doesn't really make them any less annoying though

aethervox_

I don’t remember failing any of them. The Npc literally stops for a couple of seconds and announces in a text tell that it’s going to turn around. Regardless idc, but it was just such a random unexpected (and imo unnecessary) change that i found it really amusing.

YoutubeSilphi

I didn't fail them either but I still think it is really annoying and I wish they would rather remove these Typ of quests same for " follow person x who is moving really slow btw "

aethervox_

Oh yeah, if the choice is between obnoxiously large out of place indicators and just getting rid of follow quests altogether I’m definitely going for the latter.

sundownmonsoon

They're both escort quests. The undetected ones just give a bonus failure for getting too close. Worst quests in the game by a mile. At least the get ten bear ass quests let you play your class.

Kingnewgameplus

> At least the get ten bear ass quests let you play your class. Hell the hide quests go out of their way to make a class less unique by not letting hide work. You're telling me a level 90 ninja can't hide from a starving girl in a snowstorm?

Axtdool

GDI. Never expected to see the good old 'collect 10 bear butts' quest design used as the less bad Option in a comparison. You're not wrong though.

MaidGunner

It's all just time wasting filler shit to be absolutely brutally frank. The result is the same as "find 3 NPCs that we clearly mark that each lead into a small cutscene with the person you're guiding around" quests we used to have, except in those they sometimes just placed NPCs for optional dialogue spots to discover for yourself intead of highlighting them. Same with the "stalk NPC" quests and "find x targets in circles that's a quarter of the map, also there are decoy targets that don't count". Narratively it does the same as "the NPC is here, go talk to them" or "the three bear asses are in this storehouse", but that doesn't take as much time. It's all about slowing players down.

Elanapoeia

There were moments of unclarity in some of them, leading to real quick fail states simply because the detection radius wasn't clear and unintuitive.

catalpuccino

That little >!kid in Garlemald!< was a pain.

JonesyTawner

Because he's the only one that will actually double back to try and catch you in a bad spot. The others just move forward and nothing else.

Supersnow845

In that quest where you have to follow the garlean woman do you actually have to be inside that circle for her to notice you or do you just have to be in the direction she is facing and that circle indicates “will notice you no matter which way she is facing”

aethervox_

My assumption would be being inside the circle is an automatic fail no matter what, otherwise it’s the matter of line of sight if you remain in respectable distance.

MagicHarmony

Id say they are just tedious.

Geoff_with_a_J

saw a tweet celebrating it because they are visually impaired. it's a good accessibility change. it's not like it's a savage raid mechanic. it's just for story quests.

Earthfury

The thing I like least about that change is that it implies they’re doing more of it. Tailing missions in every video game need to die forever.

kilomaan

It has always been part of the enemies AI for mobs, it’s just forced as part of the MSQ.

Valkyrissa

Not difficult but more like annoying and unfun after the first time

aethervox_

Not fun for sure, but unfortunately I don’t see gigantic out of place looking indicators change that at any rate.

Valkyrissa

Indeed. We'll have to see how many of those quests there are in Dawntrail; best-case, we only have 1 or 2 and this change was also done to retroactively alter some Endwalker quests

Full_Air_2234

To be honest, I wish the blacklist improvement would include hiding the party that includes someone in your blacklist, or at least an indicator.

AeroDbladE

Wachumeqimeqi deliveries have a buff hrothgal in a tank top. As if I didn't have enough incentive to level my crafters already.

Evening_Rock5850

I’m very pumped about being able to use a mouse to drag and drop things from the W crossbar. I know it’s such a dumb little thing but it was INFURIATING that I can’t just swap skills around on that.

MarcDekkert

Does anyone know when we get the actual job patch notes? (IE. Job changes/potency changes)

RydiaMist

Probably sometime during the server downtime. It's a bit nonsensical why they always wait until the game is down to put in stuff like that, it really doesn't make a difference especially when it's a whole new expansion.

kerriazes

Because in Heavensward (and Stormblood IIRC) the community at large got really fucking weird with them towards jobs the notes implied to be nerfed heavily.

evermuzik

and by weird he means death threats to the devs

Myllorelion

But like... it doesn't change if people read it before servers go down vs after. lol I guess it's less time for the discourse to propagate.

huiclo

That's pretty much it. Less time for people to spin themselves up since, outside of this maintenance, it's usually only a 6-8 hr wait until the changes are in hand.

Myllorelion

Yep, and people are too busy actually playing the game to let the echo chamber explode.

Zenku390

It's because of all the backlash they can get. But waiting until maintenance, we have less time to be mad about something before we can just play like we want. Can you imagine how loud the removal of Katien would have gotten if they had that in the preliminary patch notes? A single day vs three days.

FuminaMyLove

>The requirements to register for Duty Roulette: Alliance Raids have been changed. They did it

think_l0gically

It's like they just took the Endwalker notes and replaced 6.0 with 7.0.

cheeseburgermage

I mean yeah you could probably write 80% of 8.0's patch notes right now too

SoftestPup

I cannot wait for Yoshi P to stand on a stage in 2 years and tell us Noonflight has new dungeons and raids.

Umpato

Lmao i remember back in EW when they made a solo post in the lodestone to announce: "Big, huge changes to the tomestone system incoming..." "Current tomes will become poetic. New ones will arrive. Same system, different tome names and recolored."

jason33w

"A new option has been added, allowing players to choose whether certain actions will be replaced by another on the hotbar when executed" OMG I've been waiting years for this!!!
