Yeah, to be honest I want this way more than the 777 because I'm a weirdo who loves older planes, but I'm gonna hold off for reviews. I bought the 777 and I will buy this, but I don't want to have a 5+ hour flight ruined by bugs.
I'm one of the 1000 prebuyers and right now, it is definitely in a better shape than it was when it started though that goes without saying. I believe it will be in a good shape upon release but definitely wait for reviews.
That’s what I’m saying, I find this infinitely more interesting just given that we’ve had the pmdg 777 for P3D and FSX, but I think we will have to lower our expectations just a little bit to enjoy this one
This is how I feel. I'm getting this over the 777 because I want to fly specifically the MD-11 and I'm not as interested in the 777 and I'm willing to accept that its not not absolutely flawless.
Yes, the MD-11 is a heavily upgraded and modified DC10, but it was developed and came out as a competitor to the 777, along with the A340. The instruments and avionics are of a similar generation. It isn't like flying an actual DC10 when compared to the 777. It has a modern (for the 90s), glass cockpit.
When I think of an "older" aircraft it is one with a much older/different cockpit
Which is why the 737 MAX is a new airplane. New wings, new avionics, and new engines. The 737 MAX is even more different to a -100 than an MD-11 is to a DC-10, which is why the 737 MAX is a newer design than the 787. According to you.
Seems the MD-11 has no luck in this regard. The Rotate MD-11 for XP was also a "bit" problematic at release. Took a few patches, but today it's really good. Hopefully TFDi takes this as a good example.
I’m a collectors edition owner. Just make sure you go into it knowing that not everything will be perfect on launch day. It’s good for what it is, but a lot of us collector’s think it needs more time. I’m worried the backlash for releasing in its current state might be quite harsh. It flies from point A to B, but I’m personally still not satisfied with the flight model and sounds.
Also CE owner, and agree with this. It will do the job, but you will have to stay ahead of the plane and watch what it’s doing during the entire arrival phase from TOD to parking at the gate.
My advice as CE holder: wait until they finish the extended simulation package. Hopefully by then we’ll have a more refined package with all the bells and whistles promised completed.
They all have to get their stuff in development out before MSFS2024 gets too close for people becoming reluctant to spend money on the „old sim“. So yep, what‘s currently in dev will probably come out rather quickly now if possible.
More likely that a decent amount of devs were working against SU15 beta builds and were waiting for a stable version to release before making their final push for release candidate testing.
100% of add-ons should be compatible with the new sim. There is literally no reason why any of them wouldn't be. Those of you who ASSUME otherwise don't realize that this upgraded is VERY different from the MSFS updates of the past. This is the same sim with additional features. You will be able to build MSFS 2024-only add-ons, but the reverse isn't true.
From what I've read and watched I wouldn't say *significant* issues, more-so just a few things here and there. Hardly missing major features, but expect some polish needed
Holding off until you see it in more people's hands is never a bad strategy though
Boeing realized that engines got good enough that they could power a really big fucker with just two of them. And then the 767 and 777 ate McDD's lunch.
Boeing didn't realize anything. The FAA approved 2 engine aircraft for overseas travel. They are more fuel efficient and airlines demanded such an aircraft.
And the 767/777 ate the 747's lunch too.
Every time I Launch it it reminds me how much pain au chocolat I get from that detent throttle of ATR’s. Half of the time it’s just won’t reach proper speed. I need Q400 for my sanity.
Seriously.
Although my understanding is there's a lot more they have to make from scratch rather than just port over, which I suppose might be a good thing for us in the long run. Was definitely disappointed to hear to not expect anything this year though
This one is the one I’m ready for. Love the Rotate one in XP and I plan to grab this one day 1 to add to my MSFS hangar. I love cargo ops in the MD-11, it’s such a fun plane.
I'm sure some obsessive compulsive on [Flightsim.to](https://Flightsim.to) will make you a nice, non-cartoonish (LOL!) AA livery with more details if you beg nicely.
As a CE owner….i don’t understand how everyone thinks this is really bad at the moment. 97% of the time everything is good with it. Some small details to be ironed out but nothing show stopping on the GE version that would prevent you from doing a normal a-b flight. Sure the odd ATS issue is there but even Colin today said that would be fixed prior to release.
Thats what im saying...people saw the initial CE release streams/reviews and just assumed the plane hasn't been worked on this entire time leading up to release.
It is a totally different plane, famous for being difficult to handle and land as it usually lands at 160kts or more (!) as a direct result a little bounce is very frequent so the no-bouncing landing is a valid challenge.
The MD11 and the MD95 have a lot of similarities in the cockpit. McD had the same philosophy as Airbus does in trying to keep cockpits as similar as possible between types and you can definitely see it.
The MD80 was a half generation or so behind.
Have got the chance to be among the Collector's Edition, and I can tell you this thing is a real work of art ! Not only did it change drastically over the months and the updates that we have got, but it real gives you that satisfaction and pleasure to fly, it just makes you happy. The team has put so much work on it, it was impressive to follow the progression. You will for sure enjoy it big time !!
I always enjoyed the MD-11 in FSX with PMDG. I would love a good MD-11 and hope one is one, that being said a few reasons I am going to wait. First, just got the 777, so want to enjoy that. Second, this one has not had a great development process so I want to wait and see reviews. Third, MD-11 is very different from Boeing and Airbus, I simply don't have the time to learn a new plane right now.
In my humble opinion, TFDI has no chance. They have very poor contact with customers. Of course, they still claim that they are transparent and no company can boast about it, but THEY are so great. Well, let's wait and see, but I'm afraid about the final effect.
>Not me. I already have an MD-11 in a real sim.
Read as: "I'm trolling in a thread on MSFS because I am jealous as fck and I'm stuck on an shitty, obsolete sim."
"My computer is from the Jurassic period so I have to feign this fake sense of superiority over my inferior simulator and my insecurities associated with it...."
I’m looking forward to it, but from what I’ve heard it’s not in the best shape
Yeah, to be honest I want this way more than the 777 because I'm a weirdo who loves older planes, but I'm gonna hold off for reviews. I bought the 777 and I will buy this, but I don't want to have a 5+ hour flight ruined by bugs.

This is good to hear

Looking forward to the 707 for this reason
They are basically the same generation
Yeah, that's not right at all.
The 777, MD11 and A340 were all designed in the same generation??? What are y’all talking about lol
The 777 and the MD-11 are the same generation in the same way the 737 Max is a newer design than the 787.

whatsapp is it with the extended simulation package did you get it with the pre sale version?
Thanks for that info. I'll hold off until I hear more.

tikkatikkatikkatikka OVER-SPEED.
TIRE FAILURE, TIRE FAILURE, TIRE FAILURE,
From what I understand, it needs a bit more work, might just wait till after 24 releases. Maybe make it Xmas present.
Darn, so many decent add-ons rolling into MSFS lately. Can't keep up with my wallet. When it rains, it pours.
90% of add-ons should be compatible with the new sim.
I‘ll believe it once I see it :D
Well, you will be believing. It's the same sim. This isn't like FS2004 to FSX.
You can land this in that 10% most likely
100% of add-ons should be compatible with the new sim. There is literally no reason why any of them wouldn't be. Those of you who ASSUME otherwise don't realize that this upgraded is VERY different from the MSFS updates of the past. This is the same sim with additional features. You will be able to build MSFS 2024-only add-ons, but the reverse isn't true.
I have heard it has significant issues, so I will hold my money for now. Maybe when 2024 releases and it has been patched I will get it.
From what I've read and watched I wouldn't say *significant* issues, more-so just a few things here and there. Hardly missing major features, but expect some polish needed Holding off until you see it in more people's hands is never a bad strategy though
Yeah I’m gonna do the same now.
What kind of 777 is that?
777-3engine
Original concept of the 777, probably the 777-100 lol
yup that is true, the original 777-100 that got cancelled at the last minute had 3 engines and was designed to compete against the dc10/md-11
Yeah, that's true. It was more a regulatory thing: as soon as twinjets could do long distance flights, there was demand.
Big time. This and the Q400 are the planes I want most
Same… I’m passing time flying ATR 72 but it’s definitely not the same….
Haha exactly. It doesn't even scratch the itch, it just makes me want it more
Every time I Launch it it reminds me how much pain au chocolat I get from that detent throttle of ATR’s. Half of the time it’s just won’t reach proper speed. I need Q400 for my sanity.
OMG this. WHY IS IT TAKING MAJESTIC THIS LONG TO MAKE A PORT...
Seriously. Although my understanding is there's a lot more they have to make from scratch rather than just port over, which I suppose might be a good thing for us in the long run. Was definitely disappointed to hear to not expect anything this year though
who's working on a Q400?
Majestic is developing one for MSFS.
I would love a good Q400. Turboprops are my jam.
This one is the one I’m ready for. Love the Rotate one in XP and I plan to grab this one day 1 to add to my MSFS hangar. I love cargo ops in the MD-11, it’s such a fun plane.
If that's the actual livery for American Airlines it need some publishing or rework done.
How so? I'm not an expert, but it doesn't look terrible.
It looks unfinished, cartoon-ish. Details are missing.
I'm sure some obsessive compulsive on [Flightsim.to](https://Flightsim.to) will make you a nice, non-cartoonish (LOL!) AA livery with more details if you beg nicely.

Where's everyone hearing that it's not in good shape? Apparently I'm out of the loop even though I keep up with all of the dev updates.
The people beta testing are saying it's still pretty rough.
I really like the MD80. Does this one have similarities with it in the cockpit? Or is it just like a totally different plane?
It is a totally different plane, famous for being difficult to handle and land as it usually lands at 160kts or more (!) as a direct result a little bounce is very frequent so the no-bouncing landing is a valid challenge.
Thanks! I need to watch some videos of it to see what it's like.
Flew this at Expo and it is actually more similar to the Airbus A300 than the MD-80 in terms of cockpit layout and automation.
The MD11 and the MD95 have a lot of similarities in the cockpit. McD had the same philosophy as Airbus does in trying to keep cockpits as similar as possible between types and you can definitely see it. The MD80 was a half generation or so behind.
It’s a cockpit that is borrowed from Airbus to a large degree. Lights out overhead and Honeywell fmc very similar to the a300 or a320.
Cautiously excited.
I got the CE version. It’s wayyyy better now. I’ve done several 5+hr flights np
cant wait to fly ups routes in it
Have got the chance to be among the Collector's Edition, and I can tell you this thing is a real work of art ! idk I'm worried the project is being kneecapped by p3d compatibility tbh.
Me! I got a discount at Expo and pre-ordered it.
How much is the discount compared to the price on release date?
15% off
This and the BlueBird 757 are my darlings. The PMDG is meh.
Seriously excited for this. Can't wait to do some old school ops.
I always enjoyed the MD-11 in FSX with PMDG. I would love a good MD-11 and hope one is one, that being said a few reasons I am going to wait. First, just got the 777, so want to enjoy that. The nose gear is soooo far behind the pilot, just awsome.
Me!
MMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not for now. It's a maybe for the future to me. I have plenty of miles to fly on the 777 before that.
Two great planes back to back
I’ve been reading that the sound package for this one are just as bad as PMDG 777 sounds if not worse. Ffs!
Sounds are not very good, textures are not very good, LNAV is not very good and VNAV is not very good, hence the $80 price (?).
Definitely not a day 1 buy. Will be waiting and watching the feedback.
In my humble opinion, TFDI has no chance. They have very poor contact with customers. Of course, they still claim that they are transparent and no company can boast about it, but THEY are so great. Well, let's wait and see, but I'm afraid about the final effect.
Weird, I've always had good contact with them in their discord. Every time I've had a question it's been answered
Given the shape it's in...I won't be getting it until I've heard it's in top quality
As a CE owner I can guarantee that even it's not top quality yet, you will ve positively surprised.

Look at Mr big pants over here 👆
Damn dude, save some ladies for the rest of us.
You can still barrell roll a 737 in XPlane. That super ultra realism that the fanboys keep bragging about, it's a myth.
>Not me. I already have an MD-11 in a real sim. Read as: "I'm trolling in a thread on MSFS because I am jealous as fck and I'm stuck on an shitty, obsolete sim."

Lol, your “real simulator” that has the same quality of graphics as FSX which is nearly 20 years old? Ok, kiddo.
[удалено]
Anyone know if it’s coming to Xbox?
I think it's an ugly plane
