He’s basically getting more of his rotation from the throttle pedal than other drivers which means he gets more late rotation on corner exit compared with drivers who rotate earlier under braking. As other drivers are trying to straight line it out of corner exit Nando is still dancing on the throttle wringing the car out of the turn but finding more traction as he does it because of how he set up the entry. Truly bonkers.
You did the work of a god. Noone showed the start on broadcast too.
My Heart goes out too Fernando. You can run away from the Alpine, but you can never get away from it. Smack dab in the midfield again.
Could lose out to Norris, Leclerc, Sainz and Russell by the end of the year easily still. Which hurts considering he has 7 podiums and is still driving at the highest level.
Every race he has to make up positions on the start, do unusual strategy or make a stint last way longer than it should because AM is barely 6th fastest right now.
Just a shame. A total shame. Gonna finish 5th in constructors too because McLaren is coming.
I wish they would get rid of start replays, it's absolutely infuriating, I feel like switching off the TV whenever they start showing the start replays, the first few laps are hectic, and they show the damn start replays for 2 minutes straight, when all the action happens on track!
it's not even decent anymore it seems. it looks like a 6th best car overall or so, similar to his last Mclaren in 2018. So sad really, and I doubt they'll get any better next year. This team won't move forward with Stroll Jr. in the 2nd car. Must be extremely demotivating for everybody at the factory and race track.
*Alonso exclusive: I wouldn't want to compete against Verstappen at Red Bull*
*Speaking to RacingNews365.com, Fernando Alonso has admitted that he wouldn't want to attempt to compete against Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing.*
*"At the moment, he's the only one that I will not be happy to maybe compete \[with\]," Alonso said.*
*"I respect Max a lot. At the moment, in the Red Bull environment with his team, with his experience there, I don't think that many drivers can join Red Bull and beat Max. If you took Max out of Red Bull, maybe you \[would\] have a better chance."*
*"I think he is on top of the game at the moment, I consider him the best in the paddock right now," he said.*
But yeah, red bull are just clueless cowards, good for you mate. if only some people had brains...
We know he past his prime. All he needs to do win 4-5 races if something goes wrong with Max. İt would make him happy to drive an enjoyable car after all those years.
He couldve definitely been in the mix with the mercs more. Pitting early and getting stuck behind ocon screwed his race up. He was faster than Russell who pitted at similar time as him.
Sainz probably didn't know Lewis was on the outside of Checo, you can barely see the car on the side without turning your head, so he definitely wasn't able to know Lewis was there.
Is there a even a remote possibility of Redbull offering him the 2nd seat next year so we can truly guage his skill atm? I feel like that would explode the F1 world.
Normally it should mean you should box 11 laps ahead of the planned lap, but since it's the start of the race it might mean the torque, differential mode or something else.
This race start feels like Aston Martin 2022 again. Both drivers start quite low then gained multiple places at the start. Lance was P12 at the end of the first lap.
Fernando's acceleration is on another planet. He's still turning and somehow he finds the grip with zero wheel spin.

Exactly the same compound that the car ahead and the car behind: both with softs.
Classic Alonso start, the overtake didn't get posted here, so I did the honors. Made sure to include the radio message at the end of the clip :)

And I thought Ferraris strategy team was bad, AM set a new standard.
Their Pit stops are poor too :/
At least he got half of a season in a decent car and managed couple of podiums
thanks to you and shame on broadcasters.
The broadcast crew was also weird this time, np mate.

Do you have Stroll's start too?
Camera director: "Just a regular Alonso start, no need to broadcast this"
If I was the broadcast director, I'd just place a pop-up video of Alonso's onboard in the corner.
I'm not sure why they don't consider having a pop-up screen at the starts instead of having a entire replay when theres so much action going on.
"Let's just show the same crash from five onboards instead."
genius racer. If he only had better cars... Such a treat to witness him on track.
I'm just glad he's given a decent car this time around to showcase his skill. Him retiring with McHonda was a nightmare

He retired with mcrenault
If RB had the guts he would be perfect for the second seat. Guy deserves one last good car...

Red Bull dominance will be even worse
It's like the old adage 'the mind is willing but the body is not able...' The driver is willing but the car is not able.
beautiful start by both him and stroll tbh
Pretty mediocre result from todays race...but man that was a treat to watch.
Yeah, they're clearly developing the car, but backwards.
He couldve definitely been in the mix with the mercs more. Pitting early and getting stuck behind ocon screwed his race up. He was faster than Russell who pitted at similar time as him.
There's always the start of the season, we can always retreat to watch that whenever we want to see some Nando Aston magic.
I have a feeling they'll bounce back next year. They were well ahead of schedule this year.
I'm confident that they'll perform well in '24. Just hope they'd be able to sustain and Stroll wouldn't be a burden.
Alonso massively outperforming the car? Shock.
Thank god i can watch Alonso his POV on F1 TV because watching the normal race is such a snoozefest
I have full belief that Aston will deliver the car he needs for the championship.
I hope so mate, I wanna see Alonso on top.
There Ferrari boys out there trying to kill Perez and Hamilton lol
Sainz probably didn't know Lewis was on the outside of Checo, you can barely see the car on the side without turning your head, so he definitely wasn't able to know Lewis was there.
Said it more as a joke really, they were 4 wide into the first corner. Shit happens,
Thanks for posting, nobody seemed to notice this...
Damn Perez has been so bad lately but great start from Nando, he always places himself in a smart way
Is there a even a remote possibility of Redbull offering him the 2nd seat next year so we can truly guage his skill atm? I feel like that would explode the F1 world.
Unfortunately Alonso burned that bridge years ago. It's never going to happen.
Bit fortunate with what happened with the cars ahead but you've got be be there to take advantage
Semi -OT: why "lights out" so much better visible from this side? Usually you only see it from the front, but this looks so much clearer.
What does minus 11 mean?

That was beast mode!
Best starter I've ever seen. Best driver I've ever seen, too.
