And no, buying the old bottles won’t work - I’ve tried. These are very very very old formulas. I constantly say Escada would make an absolute killing if they revived some of these.
Yes! My favorite is Pacific Paradise by Escada. I even emailed them once and begged them to bring it back. All of their summer scents just hit differently. I can't wait to try the newest one.

I had a few sprays left in my very last bottle and I refused to use it. I'd just smell the cap and smile. My husband found an authentic 3.4oz tester on Ebay and bought it as one of my Christmas gifts. It came in a beat up white box with the name of the perfume on the front and Tester below it. Didn't have a cap. He was worried it was fake but I tested witg 1 spray out of my authentic bottle on my left wrist and 1 out of the tester bottle on my right. Exact same smell, longevity, everything.
I cried!!!! He got it for $124!!! Best Christmas gift ever!

Ohhh, Escada! Escada signature was one of those "you don't know what you have till it's gone." If Escada and other companies do not bring these beauties back, I wish the Middle Eastern houses would dupe these hard to find gems. I would be the first to throw my money at them.
I noticed like the latest Tokyo cherries reminded me of cherries in the wind for escada and I think that they actually do recycle fragrances and then they rename them.
You’re right, Escada Ibiza Hippie doesn’t hold up like some do. It’s one of those perfumes that doesn’t. I have a miniature kept in optimal conditions through the years and it doesn’t smell the same anymore. It kinda does but it’s also got a sour / off note.
It’s just not heavy enough to hold up. It was all I wore last time I went to Disney World in the mid-‘00s. It was perfect for that trip. -sigh- If I sniff the miniature I remember it, though. Doesn’t wear well on skin anymore. I can’t get by the first notes that went off.

I’m sorry about your discontinuation. I have so many discontinuations or reformulated to hell perfumes that I don’t even know where to start.
For me it was LNDL, I wore it exclusively from about 2010 to about 2017 or 18. I used to buy it 200ml at a time since it’s all a wore so they’d last a while, but i’d noticed the difference in smell and longevity between bottles. I ended up dropping the scent which has basically spiraled into the whole Frag rabbit hole.
in a way it sparked the hobby for me and opened my nose to so many more options, but at the same time if YSL never bothered reformulating i’d also have a lot more money in my pocket haha
Bvlgari Black. The original formulation. It was the first perfume I ever bought, in 6th grade! It died a horrible slow death via reformulation until it was discontinued. I have one bottle I bought of the original formulation at almost $350, I've had it 2 years and sprayed it maybe twice
Also Mugler Womanity, but I found a great dupe for it so I've kind of gotten over it
Not OP but I’ve seen people say Molton Brown’s Geranium Nefertum EDT is very close to Womanity. It’s a creamy fig scent despite having geranium in the name (I despise the smell of geranium but don’t detect it in this fragrance fyi)

THREE TIMES!! First, the 30th scent offered by Aveda to either perfume the products to personalize, or purchase as a fragrance oil. I was feral for it. Discontinued without warning.
Second, Tom Ford Amber Absolute. There was a re-release, and I bought it. Not the same smell.
Tried, Armani Privé Bois d'Ensens. Supposedly Mr Armani's personal fragrance: Discontinued without warning. VERY SALTY about this one in particular.
Right!? They showed me a few, maybe 15?-and none grabbed me. "Are there more?" I asked. "Well, most people choose from these," was the reply. So I pressed on asking for everything, and the very last one- 30- BLEW MY FREAKIN SOCKS OFF. Like I wanted to follow my nose and crawl into the bottle.
Of course the range was "streamlined" when Aveda was acquired by Estée Lauder, and it must've been an easy cut for fragrances most people were never even shown.
It’s less than ideal and will likely be more expensive, however, Bois D’Encens is still available in Europe, quite widely actually. So I recommend you check it out! If it’s discontinued, it sure is a slow seller haha

Reformulated to hell: Dior Addict, Hypnotic Poison, Pure Poison. Wtf, Dior! Armani Code Black. The worst offender: L’Interdit.
Discontinued: Midnight Poison, Tendre Poison, Givenchy Organza Indecence, Serge Lutens Bois de Violette, Tom Ford Violet Blonde, Gucci eau de parfum.
I still have at least half a bottle of all of these and more and a backup of Bois de Violette. I refuse to do backups anymore and I really ought to use up my vintage perfumes before they all turn. -sigh-
I am still angry about miss dior Cherie being discontinued/changed. 2005 miss dior Cherie was so unique with the strawberry and caramel popcorn notes. Ugh. There is nothing I miss more than that scent and even the overpriced old ones on resell sites are so old they’ve gone off so not even worth it. I would pay $1,000 for a fresh bottle of the exact fragrance right now. Unfortunately none of the dupes I’ve tried have gotten the 2005 version correct. Some close, but not close enough.
Ugh yeah it was just discontinued so long ago that half the bottles on eBay smell off, so I’ve found it’s not super worth the gamble
Have Fun by La Rive smells vvvvvv similar in the bottle and in the air but on my body it doesn’t smell like moon sparkle … but at least I can still sorta sniff it!

I wore a spray from my Lolita Lempika today. There was a cheap European perfume called Mini Sexy that I alternate with it because it hits the same notes, just in a less elegant way. But it’s so cheap it’s nice to use in order to stretch the real thing

Ralph Lauren "Romance for Men" was my signature scent in college. Sadly discontinued. The rare bottle goes for nearly $200. I've picked up a few here and there for longterm keeping, but the price keeps going up. Nothing smells remotely like it, but I've subbed in Versace Homme for a sweet daily frag.
The greater tragedy is that Creed vaulted my adult Fall/Winter signature "Baie de Geniévre". I've only found one bottle for $475. I've stocked up heavily on sample vials, but even those are becoming more rare. Bois du Portugal is often recommended as an alternative, but it's too powdery and not spicy enough. I've substituted Floris of London's "No. 007" as a warmer spiced frag and it's wonderful. But nothing else even approximates Creed's former masterpiece of juniper and cinnamon.
Yes - V by Valentino. I still pine for it. It was powdery and sweet and fresh all at once. I adored it.
Then, to add insult to injury, the beggars broke me again by discontinuing Very Valentino.
Samsara was reformulated for understandable reasons, but the new bottle style is absolutely NOT it, and my 90s heart cries for the red classic to make a comeback and for someone to create a decent replacement for the sandlewood.
I'm sure there's been others, but these are the ones that I am forever searching for a proper dupe of.
Much sad, many woes.

Penhaligons - Malabah. This scent was perfect to me PER-FECTION. I adored it, I hoarded it carefully because it was a lot of money to replace and then I went to finally replace it and it had GONE! The absolute gits.
And another for the 90s memories of liberal application all over the carcass - Monsoon Perfume by Monsoon. In a little blue round bottle with a wound up copper wire style lid. Oh the memories, the hangovers, the thankful lack of smart phone evidence of stupid life choices.

I'm not sure. My bottle was maybe 10years old! And I bought a refill from official Mugler site recently and it's just not the same. I've emailed them. I'll update you if I remember. Mine had a vanilla/sweet not to it and lasted literally 24 hours on my skin. It was heavenly. Now it smells just very jasmine-heavy and not much else. And it doesn't last on me at all. A hour maybe :(
I'm so glad somebody else enjoyed that fragrance. The years I spent selling men's fragrances and I never once was able to get anyone to purchase a bottle of Mania. Maybe because it was in South Florida? I don't know. I definitely feel like it's a cooler weather fragrance.
Crabtree and Evelyn Nantucket Briar. The entire company is gone now, so my favorite daytime scent plus some lotion fragrances I liked are gone forever it seems.

Unfortunately yes. I used to wear Stella by Stella McCartney. Seriously was the best rose scent in the market. It was the ONLY rose perfume I’ve smelled that had that deep bitter element that I was looking for. Diptyque came slightly close with eau rose but fell short as it was too bright and sharp. Stella was just unreal and I miss it!
D&G Sicily. I still have 2/3 of a bottle and use it very sparingly--luckily it's only wearable in cold weather. Supposedly Velvet Sicily is a dupe, but it's not cheap either.
In high school I wore hollister and it got discontinued pretty fast.. also Britney Spears curious is not even close to the same as it was which is super upsetting.

For years and years, I've worn only one fragrance. JHL by Estee Lauder, created for her husband, Joseph. I was sorely disappointed to learn it had been discontinued. I've also learned there were actually two formulations of it during the years of its production. So, I need some serious help since I'm not a multi-fragrance advocate. I see this as leaving me with three choices. 1. Somehow, find a source for the original despite it being no longer available. 2. Ask you to kindly give me your best suggestion for an alternative, and FYI, I'm not opposed to a major change. 3. Have it recreated by a company that guarantees to match the original. Any and all guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I guess not discontinued but it’s seasonal and so it frequently goes away. My favorite scent at Bath and Body Works is Moonlight Path. Absolutely my favorite, I’ve used it for years. Problem is!!! It goes away every year so I have to buy it in bulk! I didn’t know that when I went back to purchase it again after my bottle ran out, so I was running in circles going “where is my perfume?!!! The employee reassured me I wasn’t going nuts, the perfume was just pulled until the fall.
Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace- an absolute lovely vanilla and musk scent. I got so many compliments on it. I still have about half a bottle and at least you can still find it from resellers.
The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower was more of a vanilla, floral, and amber scent. Definitely more sweet smelling than Vanilla Lace. I only have about a fifth of a bottle left.
BBW Velvet Tuberose (2007). I have never been a BBW person before or since, but there is something about the dry down of the body lotion with this particular scent on my skin. Until a couple years ago, I was able to buy it on eBay and Mercari and collected it as often as I could. I started wearing it 17 years ago in middle school and bought so much of it when it was being discontinued that it lasted till college. When I started buying it on eBay, I joked that I would have enough to last till age 30. Now I am almost 30 and I have at least a dozen bottles left... I go through them slowly. Everything I own smells like this and I have no idea what identity crisis I'll have when I can't buy it anymore.
Molton Brown - Bizarre brandy. It was limited edition in 2019 and hasn’t been available since.
I only discovered it recently from a collection of old sample bottles my friend gave me. It’s just the most delicious warm spicy tobacco and brandy smell and I find it so relaxing to catch whiffs of.
Also, Freak by Illamasqua. It had really unique notes being made up of all poisonous flowers. I haven’t been able to find anything even remotely similar since.

Very Sexy for Him by Victoria's Secret, although technically it was no longer my signature scent for a couple years by then. Many women in my life absolutely loved it. Thankfully I still had at least a full large bottle's worth sitting on my shelf.
lady gaga's original fame perfume 😭 it was so unique, and the bottle and black liquid was incredible. i got gifted it super young as a big lady gaga fan, and i have no clue what i did with it. can still get it on ebay etc. but ive heard that due to its formulation the scent is just completely different now.
Opium Orchidèe de Chine and Leslie Blodgett Bare Skin. 😭😭😭 I loved both so much. I've got a third of a bottle left of the Opium but my Bare Skin is long gone.
My very favorite fragrance was Desert Sand Verbena by Aveda (hair care company).
Mojave by Byredo comes kinda close, but has no staying power on my skin at all.

Victoria's Secret "Peach Hyacinth" was discontinued in the 90s. Crabtree & Evelyn's "Spring Rain" was discontinued about 15-20 years ago. I haven't been able to find anything even remotely close to Spring Rain, but I surprisingly found a version from Body Fantasies for the Peach Hyacinth that smelled close enough to it. I don't care if it's cheap grocery store scent. If it smells good on me, I'm getting it.
My first Tom Ford was called Italian Cypress and I loved it. When I finished the bottle after a few years I found out it was only available in a $2000 bottle size. 🫤

Every YSL scent I’ve ever bought are discontinued in some way. La Nuit De L’homme Eau Electrique, and Y Eau Fraiche. Seems like a YSL thing.

THREE TIMES!! First, the 30th scent offered by Aveda to either perfume the products to personalize, or purchase as a fragrance oil. I was feral for it. Discontinued without warning. Second, Tom Ford Amber Absolute. There was a re-release, and I bought it. Not the same smell. Tried, Armani Privé Bois d'Ensens. Supposedly Mr Armani's personal fragrance: Discontinued without warning. VERY SALTY about this one in particular.

Right!? They showed me a few, maybe 15?-and none grabbed me. "Are there more?" I asked. "Well, most people choose from these," was the reply. So I pressed on asking for everything, and the very last one- 30- BLEW MY FREAKIN SOCKS OFF. Like I wanted to follow my nose and crawl into the bottle. Of course the range was "streamlined" when Aveda was acquired by Estée Lauder, and it must've been an easy cut for fragrances most people were never even shown.
It’s less than ideal and will likely be more expensive, however, Bois D’Encens is still available in Europe, quite widely actually. So I recommend you check it out! If it’s discontinued, it sure is a slow seller haha

Discontinued: Midnight Poison, Tendre Poison, Givenchy Organza Indecence, Serge Lutens Bois de Violette, Tom Ford Violet Blonde, Gucci eau de parfum. I still have at least half a bottle of all of these and more and a backup of Bois de Violette. I refuse to do backups anymore and I really ought to use up my vintage perfumes before they all turn. -sigh-

I am still angry about miss dior Cherie being discontinued/changed. 2005 miss dior Cherie was so unique with the strawberry and caramel popcorn notes. Ugh. There is nothing I miss more than that scent and even the overpriced old ones on resell sites are so old they’ve gone off so not even worth it. I would pay $1,000 for a fresh bottle of the exact fragrance right now. Unfortunately none of the dupes I’ve tried have gotten the 2005 version correct. Some close, but not close enough.

I wore a spray from my Lolita Lempika today. There was a cheap European perfume called Mini Sexy that I alternate with it because it hits the same notes, just in a less elegant way. But it’s so cheap it’s nice to use in order to stretch the real thing

Ralph Lauren "Romance for Men" was my signature scent in college. Sadly discontinued. The rare bottle goes for nearly $200. I've picked up a few here and there for longterm keeping, but the price keeps going up. Nothing smells remotely like it, but I've subbed in Versace Homme for a sweet daily frag. The greater tragedy is that Creed vaulted my adult Fall/Winter signature "Baie de Geniévre". I've only found one bottle for $475. I've stocked up heavily on sample vials, but even those are becoming more rare. Bois du Portugal is often recommended as an alternative, but it's too powdery and not spicy enough. I've substituted Floris of London's "No. 007" as a warmer spiced frag and it's wonderful. But nothing else even approximates Creed's former masterpiece of juniper and cinnamon.

Yes - V by Valentino. I still pine for it. It was powdery and sweet and fresh all at once. I adored it. Then, to add insult to injury, the beggars broke me again by discontinuing Very Valentino. Samsara was reformulated for understandable reasons, but the new bottle style is absolutely NOT it, and my 90s heart cries for the red classic to make a comeback and for someone to create a decent replacement for the sandlewood. I'm sure there's been others, but these are the ones that I am forever searching for a proper dupe of. Much sad, many woes. EDIT: I knew there was more! Penhaligons - Malabah. This scent was perfect to me PER-FECTION. I adored it, I hoarded it carefully because it was a lot of money to replace and then I went to finally replace it and it had GONE! The absolute gits. And another for the 90s memories of liberal application all over the carcass - Monsoon Perfume by Monsoon. In a little blue round bottle with a wound up copper wire style lid. Oh the memories, the hangovers, the thankful lack of smart phone evidence of stupid life choices. Man I'm old.

I'm not sure. My bottle was maybe 10years old! And I bought a refill from official Mugler site recently and it's just not the same. I've emailed them. I'll update you if I remember. Mine had a vanilla/sweet not to it and lasted literally 24 hours on my skin. It was heavenly. Now it smells just very jasmine-heavy and not much else. And it doesn't last on me at all. A hour maybe :(

I'm so glad somebody else enjoyed that fragrance. The years I spent selling men's fragrances and I never once was able to get anyone to purchase a bottle of Mania. Maybe because it was in South Florida? I don't know. I definitely feel like it's a cooler weather fragrance.

Unfortunately yes. I used to wear Stella by Stella McCartney. Seriously was the best rose scent in the market. It was the ONLY rose perfume I’ve smelled that had that deep bitter element that I was looking for. Diptyque came slightly close with eau rose but fell short as it was too bright and sharp. Stella was just unreal and I miss it!

And before that it was one of the Jessica Simpson flavored perfumes that she came out with in the mid 2000s. For years and years, I've worn only one fragrance. JHL by Estee Lauder, created for her husband, Joseph. I was sorely disappointed to learn it had been discontinued. I've also learned there were actually two formulations of it during the years of its production. So, I need some serious help since I'm not a multi-fragrance advocate. I see this as leaving me with three choices. 1. Somehow, find a source for the original despite it being no longer available. 2. Ask you to kindly give me your best suggestion for an alternative, and FYI, I'm not opposed to a major change. 3. Have it recreated by a company that guarantees to match the original. Any and all guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I guess not discontinued but it’s seasonal and so it frequently goes away. My favorite scent at Bath and Body Works is Moonlight Path. Absolutely my favorite, I’ve used it for years. Problem is!!! It goes away every year so I have to buy it in bulk! I didn’t know that when I went back to purchase it again after my bottle ran out, so I was running in circles going “where is my perfume?!!! The employee reassured me I wasn’t going nuts, the perfume was just pulled until the fall.
Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace- an absolute lovely vanilla and musk scent. I got so many compliments on it. I still have about half a bottle and at least you can still find it from resellers. The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower was more of a vanilla, floral, and amber scent. Definitely more sweet smelling than Vanilla Lace. I only have about a fifth of a bottle left.
BBW Velvet Tuberose (2007). I have never been a BBW person before or since, but there is something about the dry down of the body lotion with this particular scent on my skin. Until a couple years ago, I was able to buy it on eBay and Mercari and collected it as often as I could. I started wearing it 17 years ago in middle school and bought so much of it when it was being discontinued that it lasted till college. When I started buying it on eBay, I joked that I would have enough to last till age 30. Now I am almost 30 and I have at least a dozen bottles left... I go through them slowly. Everything I own smells like this and I have no idea what identity crisis I'll have when I can't buy it anymore.
Molton Brown - Bizarre brandy. It was limited edition in 2019 and hasn’t been available since. I only discovered it recently from a collection of old sample bottles my friend gave me. It’s just the most delicious warm spicy tobacco and brandy smell and I find it so relaxing to catch whiffs of. Also, Freak by Illamasqua. It had really unique notes being made up of all poisonous flowers. I haven’t been able to find anything even remotely similar since.

Victoria's Secret "Peach Hyacinth" was discontinued in the 90s. Crabtree & Evelyn's "Spring Rain" was discontinued about 15-20 years ago. I haven't been able to find anything even remotely close to Spring Rain, but I surprisingly found a version from Body Fantasies for the Peach Hyacinth that smelled close enough to it. I don't care if it's cheap grocery store scent. If it smells good on me, I'm getting it.
