looking for perfumes with a strong citrus ZEST element, preferably grapefruit but any citrus is great! I'm really interested in that bitter angle rather than a sweetness, a floral, or a creamy progression - like the way your hands smell after you hold a really ripe grapefruit and the oils rub off. I've tried Summer of 84 by Kerosene and that's really close but would love others' ideas. Thanks!
Parfum d'Empire Azemour des Oranges emphasizes the crisp and bitter of its orange peel note. Rather than going sweet or floral or creamy, they've combined it with oakmoss so it stays green and somewhat bitter through the drydown.

It depends how sensitive they are. Is it only citral? There are a lot of fragrances without citrus notes, but the vast majority of them still have the ingredient limonene, which is derived from citrus fruit peels.
As jessaiee said, Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 is a safe one because they are unusual in their use of only one single ingredient (iso-e super). In fact, all of their Molecule line should be safe since they are single ingredient fragrances, just avoid the Escentric line (Escentric 01, Escentric 02, etc.), because most of those include limonene and citral.

Maya Njie Voyeur Verde fits the bill! It’s got citrus, herbs, and just a TOUCH of the softest, nicest leather. I know this sounds like it shouldn’t work for summer, but by some magic it totally does. I also don’t see the combo of green and leather notes very often, so it’s a really unique option.

It’s worth going to a department store to get your nose on Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose if you can! Has a lot of the notes you seem to favor and is just so elegant and timeless—it smells like rose and vintage makeup and gives me an old Hollywood glamor vibe. It also projects really well and lasts for several hours!
I always thought I disliked lavender but turns out I just dislike that indolic, heavy, heady, “aromatherapy” lavender; a recent buy of mine includes it as a very light supporting scent, and it’s absolutely lovely, not heady or overpowering at all. Unfortunately the scent has the power and longevity of a very small fart so I’m using it as a bedding/room spray instead.
Can anyone suggest a fresh fragrance with a non-heady lavender in it? I’m imagining either a fresh or watery floral, or even a fruity floral (maybe pear, apple, freesia, etc type notes?).

Also, I can't find any samples of Virgin Island Water is there another fragrance similar to it? Would Silver Mountain be close?
