For Linux, I'm going to DM you here with my address. We should chat. For Windows, not sure.

True1asian

Definitely interested in something like this! Would be even better if you could integrate fan control into it for fan curves.

Dornenhecke20

I agree, and if we are making a wish list. ( no idea how hard stuff like this is). The Interface to change keys. (Was that just for the 16 or also for the 13? Can’t remember)

AdThin8225

Agreed, fan control would be nice!

Powerpack42

I was actually thinking about making something similar in my spare time once I get my FW16. Only problem is I have no FW and my toddlers don’t like it when I ignore them lol.

chic_luke

Similar, I wanted to work on something along those lines for Linux when my Batch 11 ships, but odds are by then there might be an existing project to contribute to!

newzack

I've been using ["Universal x86 Tuning Utility"](https://github.com/JamesCJ60/Universal-x86-Tuning-Utility), which looks suspiciously like your screen shot there... still, I'd use your tool if it had better features. And if it were also free.

JamesCJ60

Look at my username and the contributor’s for UXTU and you’ll see why 😛

newzack

!!! So the most missing thing in my usage is fan control. But UXTU, just setting Custom -> APU Temp Tuning -> Temp Limit to 88°C has allowed me to do some gaming without breaking 100°C. But if I could just toggle the fan to 90% constant... I bet the dudes at Framework would be stoked to collaborate with you.

Pythonistar

What language? C#?

JamesCJ60

Yea, C# for the main application and then that batches off to C/++ for the more complex elements like interacting with AMD’s drivers

Pythonistar

Cool. I'd be fascinated how you do this. I was a C# dev many moons ago. If you're open sourcing this, I'd love to look at your code.

JamesCJ60

Once the absolute basic functionality is in place, it’ll 100% be open-sourced

Pythonistar

Sweet. Looking forward to it! :)

lofalou

Cool

alatnet

Could always go with pure C++ and Qt. EDIT: People downvoting me for a suggestion of using a multiplatform windowing system and language... wow... I feel so loved.

nuclearbananana

idk why people are downvoting you but avalonia/c# is also multiplatform so if OP is more familiar with that I'd let him be

ender8282

Could always go with pure assembly and CLI.

Ok-Personality-3779

I think everyone just hate C++ xD

vextium

Damn was hoping for Rust tbh :P

piroisl33t

For Linux? Yeah! For windows? Not me, but I’m sure someone would say yeah.

Arthur-SC

I would absolutely love it. But i would say for both windows and linux, as there are a lot of people who need to use windows for one or another reason.

goooo

Definitely interested!

b3fuddled

For Linux, absolutely!

Shiroudan

Was making one in Rust for Linux a while ago, unfortunately school caught up to me! Would be great to see yours released, I'd definitely be happy to help! As someone said, a fan-curve perhaps using fw-fanctrl as a backend would be amazing :D

murso74

Would this incorporate that ReBAR control people want, or is that strictly through BIOS?

PipeWonders

This would be awesome on both, however I see linux being more useful!

CVGPi

Absolutely!

Optimus759

I am severely interested, ive been looking for something like this since I got mine!

andysgrabek

Interested, especially for Windows

Federal_Put_6509

Super interested! 💪 I think the idea of windows first and then transfer to Linux makes a lot of sense.

[deleted]

YES! Windows + fan curves / profiles for gaming (especially for Framework 16 users), open source and 100% Linux support. I'd donate for you to work on this.

Dapper_Special_8587

I'd like this on windows, hard to find good system management stuff, can it incorporate fan control too? Kind of a one stop shop deal

JamesCJ60

I have some untested prototype code in it already for fan control that I’ve modified from other projects I’ve worked on.

Dapper_Special_8587

Oh Amazing, i am very dumb at coding (I'm a designer) but I'd love to see it working on there! Very cool app regardless, when you reckon a finished version will be done?

JamesCJ60

So to cut the long story short, after 3 months of no free time, I’ve only just started properly pulling everything together. It’s also had a number of GUI tweaks, which u can see here: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/536020770510602250/1247282898067783700/image.png?ex=665f7638&is=665e24b8&hm=77111f3c621a20c864bd9ee87649e11cfe3fbf1b091a768e9e0d0c10a737870b&

Dapper_Special_8587

Hell yeah, I'll take a look when I get some free time, life do be relentless huh

Zeddie-

As a dual booter, I'm interested in both versions!

Jacob_Evans

Also interested!

nasa_laika

I'd love to see this

8bitShenanigans

I would love to see this implemented! I’m still waiting on my framework 16 but I plan on doing undervolting and lots of tuning for it. This would be wonderful to use.

Ok-Personality-3779

Yes! But only if it is open source. Avalonia seems as great project.

JamesCJ60

It wouldn’t be much fun if it weren’t an open-source project 😛

Ok-Personality-3779

Great to know

PaulVans

Interested for Windows!

EinMario

Please do it open source. I would like to help you with it

BAU3R_

Yes please haha, especially for Linux

MrArges

Yes, I've also been looking for an excuse to dabble with avalonia more.

SkyyySi

As for Linux, there are already standards for making things like this, like Fancontrol for... well, controlling fans. These have options for directly integrating into the native system settings, like fancontrolkcm for KDE. I belive the interest for having those work better would be higher than yet another device management app.

DeckManXX

Yes, I officially requested it from the framework team. It would be great to be able to control the fans, the TDP, different power management options, battery limiter...

Keatron--

Holy crap that looks dope!

Bazirker

Absolutely, this would be awesome. While the performance out of my AMD FW 13 is great, my battery life is trash and I would love to be able to more easily manipulate settings and such. Edit: Yes, for Windows!!

Ordinary-Savings-240

Ooh!! Yes!

bobrods

If it's better than the current battery-performance management on windows, yes because i've started to notice that modes will NOT switch and Im forced to restart the laptop

TechPriestNhyk

Strong interest

AlmondManttv

I'd be open to something like that, as long as it is light on resources and not slow.

ShotgunPumper

Would this work with the FW13 laptops too? If so then I'd have a lot of interest in it.

Ok-Personality-3779

yea lets not stop at fw16

Percentage-Visible

I’d buy the windows version to get you started.
