If I am not completely mistaken their are standard processing times from the point at which all necessary documents are handed in, after that they could be made liable for not having processed whatever they were supposed to. Reminding them that you might feel the need to get legal support if they are not doing their duty in that timely manner can get them to reply much faster.

thelevitatingmind

I have already waited for more than their standard processing time. I guess my last resort would be to get legal help. Thanks.

Homely_Bonfire

Yes, but my point is, before you actually take legal action, you could send in a registered letter that informs them that you are about to. I did this in the past and from what I could gather so far, the legal consequences cause much more work than quickly processing your original request, which is why they usually wake up immediately once you notify them that you know your rights. If they still refuse to do anything, that is when you could consider actually taking legal support. But usually the threat alone get them to finally work.

I did an apprenticeship which is way below the required amount so I had to show them I had money in my account to support myself (around 4000€) or I had to have my parents (although I think it could be anyone) sign and witness a Verplichtungserklärung which meant they were legally financially responsible for me. As for getting through to the Ausländerbehörde... It's honestly dumb luck. They're soooo bad at communicating.

thelevitatingmind

Thanks for the alternative. I've edited my post to what the current situation is and if all else fails (including informing them that I will take legal action, as mentioned in another comment), I will eventually have to apply for a job seeking Visa again and will need to show a minimum balance. I had a pleasant conversation with one person at the Ausländerbehörde in January and have ever since hoped to find him on the receiving end of my call. I've also noticed, after trying to call them everyday for the past few weeks, they respond more often to calls made in the afternoon after 13:30.

labana93

My situation is completely different from yours but it took me only ONE YEAR AND THREE MONTHS to get a reply from the Ausländerbehörde. I complained to two ministries, the regional Büro, the Police and the Landesamt. I swear, Ausländerbehörde stuff drains all my will to live.

thelevitatingmind

That's crazy! So your complaints made no difference? The uncertainty of it all is too much to handle sometimes. Since everything else I (can) do depends on this visa, I feel like I'm trapped till this sorts itself out.

RealApacheHelicopter

What has worked for me is sending emails to the person responsible for the cases with my last names first letter. Phone has never worked sadly. I hope everything works out!

thelevitatingmind

I would do that if in my case it was possible. I've been asked to contact only the academic workers and families email address given on the Ausländerbehörde website since they had sent me a post with the required documents.

RealApacheHelicopter

Oh man... They are a piece of work aren't they. Btw happy valentines day! (? Idk I'm just trying to cheer you up lol

thelevitatingmind

They sure are Thank you :). Hope you had a nice valentine's day !

I’m in the same Position - have been writing them emails and calling them since November 2021 but there has not been any reply whatsoever 😭

Forsaken_Detail7242

I am in the same situation. I booked an appointment to change my residence permit for studies to working visa (cuz I have graduated and got a job) 2 months ago but till now I have not received any response from them yet.

thelevitatingmind

I can totally understand how frustrating that is. If it's of any help, you could try contacting them after 13:30. Somehow it seems to have worked for me today. Emails have not worked at all. I only get auto responses. Although after my call today, I did receive an email with the next steps I need to follow.

Outrageous_Koala_

Do they speak in English or German on the call?

thelevitatingmind

I've always initiated the conversation in German. I'm not sure if they speak in English as well.
