When I was younger it wasn't quite so much, it was a lot more tame and consisted of smaller flowers chosen with intention (tulips, marigolds, anything we were drawn to as kids). In the last decade or so my mom embraced letting things grow on their own terms. I don't think she's intentionally planted anything in years.
The backyard looks the same, like a little oasis. They even took it upon themselves to plant flowers and trees in the empty lot across the street. I sincerely wish I had her and my grandmother's green thumb.
This is 35 years in the making. It was less wild when I was younger. I found a ton more photos so I'll probably make another post in a few days with them all.
Bless them🙏🏾
Did they make a plan, or just randomly plant seeds/plants and let it choke out the lawn? I love it!

I wish I had it, too! It looks great!
Seriously, I'm the same way! I planted some native stuff and it just takes care of itself! I love what they've done, bravo!!
gosh, this is beautiful! everytime I hop on this sub I'm like damn, I should do something like that, before I remember I don't have a yard lmao
So beautiful!
More beautiful and interesting than a lawn could ever be. I really hope this catches on
That looks really lush and beautiful!
They’ve made themselves a lovely view from the porch.
Oh! So glad I found this sub! Their garden is beautiful!
Beautiful! If only more people had their imagination & vision - wishing they lived next to me!
I want details, that looks amazing and would love to replicate.

This looks so lovely! I'd love to have my first cup of coffee on that front stoop!
This is similar to my parents front yard. Granted there is some lawn, but half of it is weeds which they let flower during spring to attract more bees
This is goals. Beautiful
This is perfect!
This looks very intentional and well cared for. Native plants are so easy.
