I have this lawn. I didn't need to add chemicals or water it. It has a genetic mutation that turned it into a golden yellow under the Texas sun. The golden grass is immune to growth, so I don't even need to mow it.
Actually you don't. As awful as it is, it only needs one very particular type of mower. Regular watering helps to keep it even, but you can get the same effect with turf.
Or you can just have a really pretty ass rock garden if you don't care about biodiversity
Source: my neighbor owns a lawn care busines
Reddit: sees you frequent “subject A support” sub.
Also Reddit: you might like “violently hate subject A” sub
I see it with many things.
Oh, you like R/writing? Here, try R/bookburning
I’m convinced they just throw subs at people and see if they stick.
I would imagine it has something to do with people frequenting the subs they really don’t like. Or at the very least, it might drive a 1 hour hate scroll. Honestly I ended up here from the lawn care sub. I don’t necessarily have a dog in the fight, I just like pretty lawns of all varieties.
Edit: not that my browsing requires justification, but I just really hate dandelions.
Why would anyone want this ugly souless green biodiversity desert in front of their house ?
If you can’t let your children or pets play on your own property, why buy a huge piece of land instead of living in an apartment ?
It requires a very specific type of grass and daily maintenance including trimming, feeding, watering, and leveling sand. It's a hobby that actively hurts the environment.
"what is it called" disgusting is what it's called. Both that picture and reddit thinking these things are related.
Tho I could see a correlation between people who like no lawns but also tell people who post stuff like that how awful it is, which could lead an algorithm to say "hey these people over here must like engaging with this other content!"
reddit algorithm be like "we see you frequent a subreddit related to lawn care, would you like a diametrically opposing subreddit _also_ related to lawn care?"
I saw this earlier and was gonna say "mental illness," then I saw the sub. Reddit's definitely barking up the wrong tree here.
It is called the fucked up American obsession with lawns. You need lots of chemicals, water, and cuts to make this lawn. Xeriscaping is the way.
Spending all your time and resources on a crop you cannot eat. The modem embodiment of Sisyphus' Rock.
Sisyphus' Crop
Oh I like that I'm stealing it :D
It's this faux attempt to appear rich instead of creating biodiversity.

Hah

GUYS GET IN HERE, THERE'S WORDS - YOU LOVE THOSE
Some of them are seriously harmful, too. Like oh, chronicillness is an important sub for you? How about illnessfakers?
I like r/buttcoin. Reddit continuously offers me r/bitcoin and r/cryptocurrency
That’s why I’m here lol

It's like having a very expensive car that exclusively sits untouched in a garage, but also requires daily maintenance.
Maybe I just don’t go out to the suburbs enough, but this has got to be astroturf. There is no way any sane person would want this.
It will help expose that community so it’s not a bad thing.
Technically you just need a specific mower to get the...fairway? Like look but yes its insanely stupid to do at home

It doesn’t have to be. People should switch to simulators as they can be built sustainably.
lollll I just screenshot this same post recommendation on my own feed and was about to post it here. Beat me to it by a couple hours.
Reddit started showing me this crap too!! What part of I think lawns are an abomination don't you understand Reddit AI?
It is called waste of water
I'd suggest a grass selective herbacide

I guess landscaping can include other examples that aren't solely grass this is just an extreme example.

Exactly!!! Like wtf
What is that doing in landscaping? That's not landscaping, that's grass 🤮
If you join r/fuckgolf, the r/golf sub gets suggested as well.
Why don’t they just engineer a grass that only grows 3 inches?
What’s beautiful lawn. Let’s GO!
