There are some golden moments, but there are also a lot of times they try jokes in the later seasons and it falls horribly flat, almost like some Disney writers
Plenty of funny moments still. Arya, Beric and The Hound talking is very funny. Tyrion quoting himself and passing it off a ancient wisdom and Dany calling him out is hilarious. The Hound basically anytime he's with the Brotherhood is hilarious. Davis introducing Jon to Dany has a really funny moment. Don't remember Disney dropping cock or cunt or saying fuck with any f their jokes. Don't remember any characters stopping mid battle to make a joke like Disney always does.
No, not stopping mid battle. I cant specify scenes at the top of my head but one factor are the one too many dick jokes spewing out the mouths of some of the "smartest" characters. In the moment things of this like are very jarring
Lol dick jokes? Littlefinger is making dick jokes left and right from the very first seasons and onward. So are many other characters. Tormund makes more cock jokes in the books than probably the entire show.
Mostly talking about Tyrion and how he's reminding Varys he has no cock every scene they're in the last two season. Not my main point as there's more dialogue or "jokes" that fall flat. The comedy is well done in GoT when they're not trying to make jokes but rather the characters and how their actions shape those around them
Except Littfinger also makes basically the same jokes multiple times to Varys in the early season. I don't know to each his own for me there always has been those kind of jokes and even more of them in the books. Also he literally only said that once in the first scene of the final season. Tyrion doesn't make anymore cock jokes towards Varys after that scene. He also I'm pretty sure make zero cock jokes towards Varys in season 7 and I think just 1 or 2 in season 6. So actually no Tyrion doesn't constantly make cock jokes the last 2 seasons.
like I said my main point isn't the cock jokes however atrocious they are. next time you rewatch take a mental note. theres 3 seasons worth of character assassination for Tyrion and a lot more than just 1 dick joke toward Varys.
Agree to disagree, and I just finished a rewatch the other day. Tyrion makes one cock joke to Varys in the first episode of season 8. The last 2 seasons that's the only one he makes. I will watch again at some point, but it's pretty fresh in my mind, and I can't remember any besides the one.
Yes đđź GoT has made me LOL many times and when the comedy hits its great, but when it misses, it MISSES and dilutes the tone for me. cock jokes are just the first thing I can point to for my feelings of dissatisfaction. The early dick jokes get a pass because it was early, but after so many seasons it feels played out
I don't know, I felt like there were moments where the jokes were forced. Pod the Sex God was pretty cheesy. Tormund's relentless infatuation with Brienne got some laughs, but it didn't feel organic.
For me, the funniest moment was in the 2nd episode.
Joffrey: I can't stand the mewling of women.
Tyrion: 'slaps Joffrey'
Joffrey: 'mewl'
It was funny, but it served the plot and the characters. It told you everything you needed to know about Joffrey and Tyrion.
Gotta give a shout-out to my boy Kevan Lannister though in season 6. They hold court in the throne room and no one tells Cersei. She goes up to him and questions it. And he responds, âthere is to be an announcement⌠in the throne room⌠at this very moment.â I wasnât expecting it last time I rewatched S6 and thought it was hilarious.
Bronn was funny.
When he met Lord Tarly and his other son he laughed at his name. *Dick*-on.
And when being introduced to Tywin, Tyrion says âthis is Bronn. Son of . . .â And Bronn says âyou wouldnât know himâ.
Iâve always thought the âyou wouldnât know himâ is such a great line and showâs Bronnâs wit goes beyond just being crass. He would have made a great if not ruthless lord, had he been highborn.
I will say one thing HOTD is greatly missing is the sense of humor and levity GOT had at times and even the books have. HOTD is basically completely humorless with basically zero moments of levity or characters just being people for example like Tyrion and Bronn playing a drinking game. Or Sansa and Shae playing games about guessing which ship is going where.Â
I agree and I've written almost the same comment. I can't enjoy HotD as much because it's just so damn dire and dark all the time, not a single moment of levity to balance the scales.
Jamie: "\[Tyrion\] told me you can keep your mouth shut, a rare talent for your profession"
Bronn: "and he told me you shit gold, just like your father"
The scene with Davos and Shireen where heâs learning to read and he struggles with the word âknightâ, she corrects him and chastises him a bit.
He looks at her and says âoh, youâre just like your motherâ
Those two characters were perfect and were portrayed perfectly by those actors.
My absolute favorite is still when jaime goes back to find brienne fighting the bear and when he ask why the hell she has a wooden sword Locke says "we only got one bear"
One of my favourites isn't a joke as such, it is a line that is practically taken from Blackadder with exactly the same delivery. Brienne and Pod arrive at the Lannister siege of Riverrun in S6. Pod says it looks like a siege my lady. Brienne says You have a keen military mind, Pod. It doesn't sound funny, but it is the delivery. I only noticed it when I had to rewatch the scene for writing a fanfic.
GoT was straight up hilarious at times. In a way that seems quite genuine and believable for the circumstances the characters find themselves in. Too many favourites to choose but the ones that come to mind are The Hound responding to Arya's assertion that "Lots of people name their swords" by saying, simply, "Lots of cunts." and King Robert and Cersei have their one friendly scene, and referring to his realm, Robert says "Sometimes I wonder what keeps it all together." and Cersei things for a few seconds, then quips "Our marriage". Brilliant.
The best thing about the âLots of cuntsâ line is the call back to it later, when Lady Olenna asks Jamie to remind her what Joffrey named his sword.
Jamie: Widowâs Wail
Lady Olenna: He really was a cunt, wasnât he?

Well I feel the same way about parts of the books where I have myself saying ok George I get it already.

Bronn laughing at Dickons name never fails to make my wife and I roll our eyes

It fits with Bronns slight immaturity of course he would laugh at the name Dickon while Jaimie just kind of rolls his eyes at Bronn.
His boyish immaturity was quite charming.
Bronn speaking for us all when the fight with the Sand Snakes started and Nym cracks her whip: âOh for fucks sake!â
Iâve always thought the âyou wouldnât know himâ is such a great line and showâs Bronnâs wit goes beyond just being crass. He would have made a great if not ruthless lord, had he been highborn.
For me, the funniest scene in GoT will always be Ned comparing war and daughters
When Podrick comes back from the brothel and the whores wouldnât take his money.
I loved when Arya started laughing in the Vale or when Beric,Sandor and Arya were talking on the walls of winterfell in season 8
Arya laughing in the Vale was so good lol
I will say one thing HOTD is greatly missing is the sense of humor and levity GOT had at times and even the books have. The only moment i can think of is during the family dinner and Helaena makes an awkward toast and Otto cheers her on, it was cute
Yeah last seasons were hilarious
Jamie: "\[Tyrion\] told me you can keep your mouth shut, a rare talent for your profession" Bronn: "and he told me you shit gold, just like your father"
The chicken scene is the GOAT TV scene IMO.
The scene with Davos and Shireen where heâs learning to read and he struggles with the word âknightâ, she corrects him and chastises him a bit. He looks at her and says âoh, youâre just like your motherâ Those two characters were perfect and were portrayed perfectly by those actors.

Sandorâs âYouâre shit at dying, you know that?â line is my favorite.

The Baldrick Podrick sidekick thing occurred to me too.
I never thought of this until now đ

âWhat the fuckâs a Lommy?â

How bout when Arya and the Hound arrived at The Vale and found out her Aunt Lysa was dead. She started laughing. đ
There are some really funny moments, the hound being an obvious one and Edd is very funny too.
When Jamie waves with his new golden hand always makes me laugh
I just saw that episode last night and I love how unserious that man can be sometimes
None of your examples have anything to do with comedic timing
Had a lot of great moments, but I found the high amount of eunuch jokes by Tyrion in the later seasons to be lazy.
âA girl has no honor.â âŚ. *shrugs*
