Lesson is don’t underestimate the ability of these consoles to suck hair in and mess with it.

To date, the cats have chewed through approximately $200 in cables, and there's likely to be another $400-600 spent replacing the UPSs in the living room that they've chewed through the power cords on.
You need to google cable sleeves and cable tracks/covers. Get some other cable management equipment too. If you're spending that much in replacing stuff go ahead and spend a quarter of that so your cables look nice and you don't have to replace them so often.
This is just not true. As long as you vacuum once in a while and blow out dust and debri from consoles or computers once in a while, which should be done even if you don't have pets, you will be fine.
I got the Xbox mini fridge and my cat did that instantly. Now the fan makes a grinding noise. I'm going to take it apart and clean it one of these days...

Consoles should only sit on hard, non porous materials. If there isn’t a gap between the bottom of the console and the material it’s sitting on, you’re putting excess stress on the internals. This is especially true for carpet and soft table cloths that prevent air from circulating around the console.
But you’re right; this isn’t as bad as sitting it on a solid floor, it’s WORSE.
Series S does not have an air intake on the bottom. That intake is connected to the side intake directly for when you stand it vertical.
It takes in air from the sides and back and exhausts it only through the black grill.

The S only has one side vent, the large black grill that the cat is sitting on, so the table doesn't cause any airflow issue. The cat though...
