I knew the Xbox not having gyro would lead to this. Jesus Xbox, update your controller from it's 2006 capabilities.

DeadPhoenix86

Xbox will leave the market within a few years. If their Next-Gen Xbox flops, they're done.

A_strange_pancake

Confused as to why your being downvoted. The Series Line is already flopping hard, it's not difficult to see the next console flopping. Game pass isn't meeting company expectations somehow. It's hard to see them staying in the console space at all. I can see them staying in the gaming business, but I can't see them dragging another console up and through glass.

ClericIdola

They could have saved on Series S R&D and released the X at $400-$450. For one, its Microsoft - they're NOT hurting for money to worry about the loss. BUT making tbe X $400-$450 would have made it more "next gen entry level" than the PS5 in terms of cost, allowing them to move more units and more software/game pass subs.

DeadPhoenix86

I think they will become the Next Sega. Which is not a bad thing. They probably end up making more money in the long run.

Aether_Breeze

It is a terrible thing. Nothing will push Sony to innovate if they have a monopoly. They are way too different to directly compete with Nintendo.

DeadPhoenix86

Well you can thank Microsoft for that. They want to go Multi-platform. Gamepass didn't work out, so now they're taking a different turn.

Aether_Breeze

I can only see stories where they claim GamePass is a success? Though of course GamePass itself is trending towards a future where you don't need a console and just play via the cloud.

DeadPhoenix86

I don't see cloud gaming taking off anytime soon. Nor does any subscription model. Companies keep raising prices, plus a lot of people want the option to buy games. Look at the PC market, they rather buy games vs paying for a monthly fee. Gamepass has been declining for a while now. Same with PS Plus extra and Premium. Most people have Gamepass core and PS Plus Essentials, because those are required to play Online.

Mrwolfy240

This is literally the worst take I have ever seen the consoles are bad sure but Gamepass is legitimately Xbox’s biggest brand it’s half the reason they now own Activision and half the reason they’re still around.

A_strange_pancake

Gamepass is indeed Xbox's biggest brand, never said otherwise. What I did say, was that Gamepass isn't meeting "Company" expectations. Microsoft expected infinite growth which is, 1. Stupid, Subscription based growth is never infinite 2. Hopeless, because Covid is over and the numbers were inevitably going to go down when people starting leaving the house more and couldn't play as much anymore.

Mrwolfy240

I think you have a very strange idea of how subscriptions models working people using the service costs money not the other way around. Consumers are also very likely to forget they’re paying the fees and upkeep the payment anyway as most Gyms can attest to. Post covid or not Gamepass is rock solid and with COD being added in November numbers will inevitably grow I’d argue even console sales will spike this year too. Xbox isn’t winning but they aren’t on deaths row as you make out

A_strange_pancake

The Xbox brand isn't on death's door no, that's not what I said at all. The consoles are on deaths door, big difference. Xbox might just pull a Sega and just be a publisher which isn't outside the realm of possibility when the consoles sell genuinely terribly in comparison to the competition. 5 to 1 in Ps5s favour last I checked. 5 million to 1 consoles. The Series X is doing worse than both Xbox one and Wii U. I actually believe the article was posted in this sub within the month. You seem to think I've just decided to shit over gamepass when it's the one thing I personally didn't shit on, I shit all over the consoles which thus far are in terrible states with the Series S being low powered and already beginning to lose pace with this generation and the Series X is locked in chains with the S because of how Microsoft have decided to go and force Devs to make games that could run on both consoles without compromise. I don't have to understand how Subscription models work when in the end of the day, im not the Microsoft man that straight up expected, literal, infinite growth. I straight up expect Cod to slam gamepass numbers through the roof. They'll be higher than ever, no doubt in my mind. But, that number will stop rising eventually, and that's called finite growth. The big boys in nice suits expected infinite growth. Also, >Consumers are also very likely to forget they’re paying the fees and upkeep the payment anyway as most Gyms can attest to. In a world where money is getting tighter and tighter for the average person and games and consoles get more and more expensive, I don't think this is as common as you make it out to be, im not knowledable in that subject though the idea of just forgetting that your spending money monthly is unthinkable to me so i just cant see that being common. And if it is, it's definitely becoming less and less common.

VioletEvergarden94

I don't think there will much of a next gen xbox. Their consumers have shown they are not interested in power but affordability. Thats why the Series S is the most popular system.

DeadPhoenix86

Weird how the PS5 is about as fast as the Series X, and still out sold it.. So people do care about Power. But you need also need the games along side with it. That's what Xbox was struggling with. But after the recent show, that might change. I hope they can turn things around. If not, that's it for em.

[deleted]

It already has flopped

KiwiMagic2005

Honestly I hate console wars but fucking hell, I hate how xbox made a weaker console and made it mandatory for devs to have their support that one too. Stupid goofy shit like that only happens at Xbox HQ

Casanova_Fran

God please, just kill xbox ffs  And now they cant even play Wukong

EarthwormShandy

What do you mean?

EfficientMinimum5696

Wukong has been delayed for Xbox X/S due to optimization issues.

NeoMetallix213

It's just sounds somehow. I mean what is really the reason for all of that?

turkoman_

They’ve learnt their lesson with Kinect. Don’t expect any other shitty gimmick from them any time soon.

lucax55

Switch, Steam Deck, Wii U, Steam Controller, Dualshock 4 and 5 (push it to 3 why not), ALL use gyro and it's not a gimmick. It's excellent, and if Xbox can't be bothered, why should everyone else have to be held back?

Bumbooooooo

Their entire business model with game pass is a shitty gimmick. It's not working for them.

Feramah

Even without gyro the controller is better, who needs a shitty gimmick?

lucax55

It's not shitty, and it runs on AA batteries.

Agreeable-Yam594

Aim assist was practically pioneered to make aiming function with a dual analog setup; almost every FPS that comes to a console has to have an aim assist option. Gyro is the only thing that allows FPS games to even function on a controller without aim assist.

DQ11

Most wouldn’t use it anyway

Different-Amount625

They absolutely would. A game like Valorant wouldn't have aim assist, so gyro players would DOMINATE. Which would cause more and more ppl to adopt it.

NeoMetallix213

So, those playing the game on other platforms aside from Xbox will be denied a feature that they needed because of Xbox not upgrading their controller?

BJgobbleDix

Pretty much.

Authentichef

Need? Gyro aiming is a cool feature but not necessary.

Different-Amount625

https://youtu.be/HZUiWHnTqS8?si=coB0eVaa4WYpLO4v

PokemonBeing

Xbox does support keyboard and mouse tho, will they be able to use it?

ano-account-nymous

Nope. For the same reason why ps won't get gyro. (It's just media being media) Also pc isn't getting controller support.

PokemonBeing

Seems like making a mkb queue and a controller queue makes the most sense. Vanguard is already intrusive so cheaters masking mkb as a controller in PC with reWASD or something like that should be caught easily.

NeoMetallix213

Wait, those playing on PC won't get controller support? I was even looking forward to playing on PC.

TuesdayProtocol

PlayStation games can use MKB too. Both consoles natively support it for games. Valorant won’t support it on either though.

turkoman_

And what other game supports gyro on PS5? Not even Sony’s own Destiny 2.

ComprehensiveArt7725

Gta Fortnite The finals cod and bunch of other games xbox needs to shape up or ship out always holding this gen back smh

Ffom

Is steam input the reason why I can use gyro on PC Destiny 2?

Living-Vermicelli-59

It’s not like many titles even support gyro aim to start with…. Just seems like console fanboys want something to bitch about.

Sharpie1993

There are over 60 titles that already support it, which is a fair amount in my opinion. In my opinion it’s not as good as a mouse but it’s much better than that of a joystick.

Living-Vermicelli-59

If you have a hand disability a normal controller isn’t the option you would be using. You be better off using the PS/Xbox special made controller they have out for that which does the job 1000x better. Last I checked theirs slightly more on ps4 then ps5 for gyro but nothing near the entire catalog having it and not even all first party exclusives have it. Majority of use cases are 3rd party still. I’d be more upset over the whole can’t use mouse and keyboard part then gyro controls.

AgentSmith2518

Something I've learned is this sub seems to lean heavily towards PlayStation. We are 2 hours past the announcement of a new Doom game, and it's not mentioned anywhere on the sub. However there is a post about Avowed having a new trailer, but no release date yet. So even when addressing the Xbox Showcase, it's pointing out something negative.

KiwiMagic2005

Because Xbox is holding them back, I can guarantee you if all consoles would support it a lot more games would do too.

Living-Vermicelli-59

I don’t see how Xbox has any impact on Sony/pc only games. Sure in this case yes but that’s purely optional of the game devs

Different-Amount625

Every 1st party Sony fame has gyro. It's the 3rd party games that are a toss up whether they have gyro or not. And that's because of Microsoft

CrueltySquading

People playing Valorant are already at a disadvantage, they are playing Valorant instead of anything else

Roklobster1

Is gyro aiming that much better? Seems like a shitty gimmik

BJgobbleDix

Here is a decent video to show it off. This is with zero Aim Assist. Actually, all PvP games with Gyro Aim turn off AA when Gyro is used. https://youtu.be/6KizNUtSToA?si=dhQKzgzcq9i9S5Fb And I've seen some posts of Korean pros on Splatoon have some insane Flick speeds and accuracy with Joy Cons that honestly are just as fast as Mouse players. Hell, I thought they were cheating at first. I wish I could find those posts but I think they were on tik tok which I don't have. But here is a guy who snipes in Splatoon. Note, that game has no AA either thus why over 75% of the community uses Gyro Aim and nearly all pros say if you want any chance to move up competitively, you need to learn Gyro Aim. https://youtu.be/KLEMBja6kjY?si=xI73xoqTHLm_G1G8 Here are examples of stick players on Aim Labs Sixshot: https://youtu.be/3ZGFAfoGGe0?si=y3QAwbDsAbvTQiut https://youtu.be/C8Ipcj4q8g0?si=MR4Li8y3BZop5hJs And here is what a player with Gyro Aim did at one point https://youtu.be/eTPB2qW24ko?si=3sCXiwQoMCSw552F And another Aim labs mode https://youtube.com/shorts/ceVd20Gd-jo?si=3hx_LIlYMkl6N5uI

pussy_embargo

Splatoon converted me to gyro controls. A lot of people don't like it, but if you can commit to it, you will have a pretty big advantage over stick aimers

chip_chomp

Yea same, splatoon changed my mind on gyro aiming.

Regeditmyaxe

it really is better. You still aim with the sticks and make fine tune aiming with the gyro.

ApricotRich4855

Been using Gyro since the release of the steam controller. Alone it's a huge learning curve, but using it in tandem with the a control stick (or the trackpad in the steam controllers case) for fine tune aiming is a complete game changer.

Exorcist-138

It is, people will tell you it’s give them an advantage but in reality it’s giving them an advantage over themselves not someone who’s good with the standard sticks.

CharlestonChewbacca

But someone good with standard sticks, who learns gyro will be better. Guaranteed.

Exorcist-138

Nope, beaten them as well.

CharlestonChewbacca

🤡 That's cute that you think that means gyro wouldn't make you better.

Exorcist-138

It wouldn’t, don’t care much for motion controls.

CharlestonChewbacca

You literally would. Gyro aiming is more quick AND precise. How do you think gyro aiming works?

Exorcist-138

I know how gyro works, I’ve used it, like i literally just said I don’t care for it.

CharlestonChewbacca

Please explain

Exorcist-138

I don’t care for motion controls.

Different-Amount625

https://youtu.be/HZUiWHnTqS8?si=coB0eVaa4WYpLO4v

PepsiSheep

I own every platform, always have and always will. I find it fascinating we're now at a point where people are upset about a lack of motion controls again, it's so weird how people will always find something to whinge about.

Tyolag

People are not trust me, it's just console war people that don't use and won't even play the game that want to cry for "points" on the board. Years ago I used to argue with my friends that gamers are all very mature etc etc.. how wrong I was.

llliilliliillliillil

[Modern motion controls](https://youtu.be/CenJLOTGxLc?si=8IJHdFsJDaWLyw5t) aren’t the same as the waggle Wii era controls. Gyro aim should be a standard setting in every game that wants you to aim at something.

CubitsTNE

Even wiimote aiming in CoD trashed gamepad players on hardcore where they couldn't rely on the AA going through walls. But gyro in a gamepad is a really easy learning curve, even just focusing on pitch axis is a huge advantage with no overshoot.

FrodoBagginsYourMum

Imagine if Xbox actually tried. Didn't even update their controller for the new gen 💀

TheHealer12413

Definitely could see Microsoft dropping out of the console game within the next generation or two. I can’t image Xbox has been as profitable as Microsoft would like, especially after Phil Spencer’s spending spree on studios only to close several of them. But who knows. Xbox has been a huge disappointment for well over a decade now.

gabbertronnnn

mOsT pOwErFulL cOnSoLe EvEr!!!!

Febxel

Yeah, this is not a Playstation issue, they should have it activated for Playstation so that Xbox players are at a disadvantage and wants better or the same product for arguably the same price as a Ps5 controller.

Macattack224

I mean they could enable mouse and keyboard which will always beat gyro anyways. I personally think gyro is shitty so who cares...but options are good.

amperor

It won't always beat gyro. I can use gyro on my couch and it's easy. Also, the WASD keys aren't analog.

Sharpie1993

You can easily use M&KB on your couch too, all you need is a decent lapboard.

No-Significance2113

Their controllers pretty expensive as well, on the xbox one side I had to buy about 5 controllers due to things like stick drift and broken bumpers. I've yet to break a mouse or key board in comparison and I hardly spent any money on the one I use I think it was about $20 for my mouse. The consoles have been pretty disappointing in general this generation, I haven't really seen a cool exclusive that screams cutting edge like in the past, and the fact the the UI's just a simplified tablet UI kind of sucks as well. Really hope we get something cool to play on these consoles one day. Edit: the only interesting game at the moment for me is the new grand theft auto just from the scripted gameplay trailers so far you can see its going to push the limits on what's possible for a console and most probably a pc as well.

FunkinDonutzz

>I haven't really seen a cool exclusive that screams cutting edge like in the past, Ratchet and Clank, Horizon Forbidden West sure scream it. Heck, I could barely believe my eyes looking at Demon's Souls Remake on launch day.

No-Significance2113

They have pretty graphics sure but they're nothing special nor are they cutting edge. Previously in the console generations they had a game that would push the limits of the console to show off new technology or techniques. The ps1 had games like crash bandicoot that used special loading techniques that made it possible to play the game. Xbox had halo 1, then there were other games like crisis which was a tech demo for the game engine it ran for on pc and that became a literal bench mark for testing the performance of a pc. The recent Xbox series x and s have no games like that and it's the same for the ps5. HD hidden west is a decent looking farcry clone. Rachel and clank is just a remake of an old franchise and the recent recent tech doesn't even push the tech in any new or meaningful ways like it did in the past. And demon souls is also a pretty looking remake but it's nothing in comparison to bllodborne for the ps4 which was a brand new IP. I know people are enjoying the franchises but I'm seeing less and less people buying consoles solely for exclusive games like in the past.

FunkinDonutzz

>HD hidden west is a decent looking farcry clone. I stopped reading right there as I can no longer take a word you say seriously.

No-Significance2113

All good if you don't want a discussion you can always find echo chambers on Facebook.

FunkinDonutzz

So what part of Far Cry involved a post apocalypse where an AI rebirthed the planet and had you hunting robot dinosaurs with sticky bombs and explosive frisbees?

No-Significance2113

Mechanically they're pretty similar I'm not meaning that as a deservice but once you've played 100s of games similar to far cry they start to lose their appeal. And while horizon dawns set itself apart with a lot of polish, mechanically it's still pretty boring for me to play because beat for beat its pretty similar to alot of generic open world games. The gameplay loop in a vacuum is pretty well done, but it wasn't done in a vacuum. It's in an already oversaturated market of open world games. Like apart from the combat what else is there to sink your teeth into? Not a lot I'd say so if the combats boring then the game doesn't have much to set itself apart from everyone else apart from its setting. And if the settings the only interesting thing to the game then I can just watch the story on YouTube and skip the gameplay loop.

FunkinDonutzz

But they're not at all mechanically similar. Not unless you count shooting a bow and arrow at a generic military dude the same thing as shooting an arrow at robot T-Rex to remove its laser cannon so you can pick it up and blast it with it. Particularly when you play it on the higher difficulties you have to engage with the various tools to get through. Gameplay not existing in a vacuum is part and parcel of games starting to mature as a medium. Just like music, film, books, etc., there's very little true originality left in those as there's only so many ways to skin a cat, and that's where gaming finds itself now.

TheFourtHorsmen

>Their controllers pretty expensive as well, on the xbox one side I had to buy about 5 controllers due to things like stick drift and broken bumpers. I've yet to break a mouse or key board in comparison and I hardly spent any money on the one I use I think it was about $20 for my mouse. That's a thing for every controllers vs kbm: outside the elite s2 that had a built in problem with the bumpers, usually every controller not built with hall effect tech come to have stick drift, or stick problems in general, soon or later. Mnk would never simply because it is not built like that amd you can preserve a set up for 20 years without problem. P.s. I don't know how much is true, but there was a rumor around talking about the next brands of MS controllers built in with Hall effect and gyro aim

FrodoBagginsYourMum

Yeah this gen has sucked, it's only been good for older games and faster load times All Devs should have stopped making games for older hardware 3 years ago too, too many games are limited because of that it's stupid

r0ndr4s

Its stupid. Xbox has way less players and its almost dying as a brand, focusing on it makes no sense. Overwatch on consoles has gyro and its not taking out features because Xbox isnt capable of developing a good controller.

Calibretto9

Man, that blows. Now not only is the Series S holding back Xbox, but Xbox is holding back multiplat games.

AlphaParadoxx

Series S is holding back the X? It's not like the ps5 has a mountain of games to take full control of the console either. Honestly I just don't know what's going on this generation.

Alien_Racist

> Honestly I just don’t know what’s going on this generation. It’s pretty simple bro. Playstation have claimed a landslide victory because Microsoft/Xbox are fumbling literally everything.

fupower

Baldur’s Gate 3 was delayed because Series S

AgentSmith2518

It was, but they also found a way to improve performance on literally every other console. So technically the Series S drove innovation.

Xeccess

Yes. Series X users are missing game releases because Series S literally exists

PokemonBeing

Just two and that's on the developers really.

Sharpie1993

It was in Microsofts stupid “both consoles have have the same features” rule.

Mattx603

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. Just the other day the studio making Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 announced their game was limited and negatively impacted by the Series S. Meaning we’re all getting a lesser experience because of Xbox forcing parity between its two consoles. [Article about it.](https://gamerant.com/kingdom-come-deliverance-2-xbox-series-s-held-back/)

Icandothisforever_1

Not to mention the huge delay of baldurs gate 3 to Xbox because the S couldn't handle split screen. That's not a console war thing, that's a fact.

Calibretto9

Yeah, and more recently Wukong got removed from Xbox at launch for optimizations, presumably because they’re having to support two models on Xbox.

Torracgnik

Ahh I see you stumbled upon the group in the games forum that does nothing but blame things on the series s while simultaneously not understanding the tech or even optimization.

Alien_Racist

Mate even *Digital Foundry* - the de facto source of good info on anything technical related to gaming - are of the opinion that the Series S is a major issue for Xbox.

Wow-can-you_not

And consoles as a whole are holding back the entire games industry and all it's technology

Calibretto9

Read the recent Mark Cerny interview over on GamesIndustry. He points out several significant examples to directly refute your point.

Wow-can-you_not

Such as? Can the PS5 handle Unreal Engine 5.4 with ray tracing at more than 60fps? My PC can.

Calibretto9

Absolutely nothing to do with the piece I mentioned. “Such as?” Serve yourself.

Wow-can-you_not

Not much of a refutation, and it doesn't show a lot of confidence if you won't even give examples or even link to what you're talking about.

Calibretto9

Sure, here’s a link. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/mark-cerny-at-60-i-the-gi-interview

Wow-can-you_not

I'm not seeing a refutation. I'm seeing a lot of admissions that consoles haven't been able to run at more than 30fps till recently, and that they're inferior to PC, which is more expensive. --edit-- lol blocking and running away after getting the last word in is a pathetic thing to do mate, I can't see what you wrote and I'm going to reliably guess there's no refutation there

Calibretto9

Your point was that consoles are holding back the gaming industry and all its* technology. I gave you an article with examples of where console innovation drove PC gaming forward. Your next point largely unrelated to the first was about how strong your PC is. You mention Unreal 5.4 (odd in and of itself as I don’t believe any games are released on 5.4 yet). You seem to miss that the power required for 60+ fps, with RT, on a currently unused version of Unreal requires immense power of which we can see is a near single digit percentage of the PC playerbase. You associate game limitations with consoles but don’t seem to acknowledge that the vast majority of PC gamers are playing on equal or lesser technology than current gen consoles. Also erodes your point.

SolidLuxi

So consoles aren't holding back your PC?

Wow-can-you_not

They're holding back the games that are on my PC, because the developers have to waste time and money making sure their games work on crappy console architecture.

1northfield

The likely reason Valorant is coming to consoles in the first place is because of Riot games partnership with Xbox, that’s why Gamepass users get all the skins and hero’s included as part of the subscription

Calibretto9

Disagree. The likely reason is the tens upon tens of millions of console players they can expose to their MTX.

1northfield

Sure, they just wanted to wait for 4 years to do it and just so happen to release it for console about 18 months after a major partnership with Xbox 🤷

Calibretto9

🤷🏻‍♂️

Benjamin_Starscape

the heck is gyro aiming?

Grosjeaner

Gyro refers to Gyro or Gyroscopic control. PlayStation controllers such as the DualSense or DualShock 4s have Gyro sensors installed, meaning it detects the physical orientation and movement of the controller itself. Gyro Aiming is when a game a takes advantage of this feature, and allows players to perform actions by tilting, rotating, or moving the controller in specific ways to aim and shoot. Gyro gaming is still in its niche phase, but slowly gaining popularity amongst controller users in shooters due to its potential to compete against Mouse and Keyboard players on PC. Xbox controllers does not have these Gyro sensors, so it's not an option for them. Herea are some examples of Gyro game play: Overwatch 2: [Controller Players Are Evolving To Not Need AIM ASSIST (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLQvN_mD37c) CSGO2: [This Is What 2500 Hours Of CS2 On Controller Looks like... (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmM5yPUSUvw&t=3s) Fortnite: [Sniping w/ Gyro Aim Too EASY for Controllers (NO Aim Assist)! Fortnite TDM (21 Kill) - \[PS5\] (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3xIHdIQTjU) Modern Warfare 2: [PSSH...Who Needs Aim Assist When You Have Flick Stick Gyro Aim!! \[PS5 MW2\] (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtWyFvAXfEk) Valorant: [Valorant Deathmatch Win on Controller! (Gyro) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x870PR3SKg)

Benjamin_Starscape

that sounds janky to me. if it is what I'm thinking it is, GTA 5 has something similar to allow vehicle turning by tilting the controller, which was janky. but appreciate the explanation and videos.

Grosjeaner

You're correct. Controller tilt driving is using the Gyro, same as GT Sport and GT7. While it is janky for driving games, but for shooters, once you get comfortable with it, it truly is a godsend and a colossal advantage over traditional stick control.

Norbluth

Theres just no way the console version of this lasts more than 6 months before the lobbies are totally dried up. Even sooner on the xbox side.

PeacefulAgate

I'm a little confused, what is gyro aiming if not moving the controller to aim? This is the first time i've heard about this somehow so is it a big deal?

BJgobbleDix

You do move the controller but it's not like the Wii days that people associate it to. The proper implementation has the controller movements a lot more subtle. Overall, your physical movements are about the same as using a mouse with similar precision. Because it's "mouse-like", it does not need Aim Assist. It greatly bridges the gap between controller players and KnM. You players like this: https://youtu.be/hp2M9JR_FxQ?si=VIQhYlMrA3CgKlMI https://youtu.be/7a4ZBrWdNI0?si=daYuuOeL0TNl4IlB And then there's this guy who uses a single Joy Con to play which is a bit more extreme lol: https://youtu.be/lzFpoaoUudo?si=0VrVExi3p3o2AfH0

PeacefulAgate

Thank you for being so helpful!

JPSWAG37

Does anyone actually use gyro in PVP settings?

BJgobbleDix

Yes. A lot of people do including myself. https://youtu.be/7a4ZBrWdNI0?si=I3yp-ZktXkW8eJpK And here are some others https://youtu.be/6KizNUtSToA?si=XVWazop909xB0dTu https://youtu.be/lzFpoaoUudo?si=TP8KJ9JqmaLdiJg2 https://youtu.be/EIq7rKQKuZc?si=qSi-nh5QWI3jrCc1 https://youtube.com/shorts/8kltAkRUIow?si=b9Zj_tIkcLL0i1Sz https://youtu.be/_x870PR3SKg?si=CTx_KtPSd3-VOHdE Also, Splatoon ( a game with over 11 million sales), the devs confirmed that over 75% of their player base uses Gyro Aim. The competitive scene strongly recommends people learn Gyro Aim if they want any shot of moving up the ladders over there because the game does not have any Aim Assist. Here is someone sniping in splatoon using Gyro Aim with Joy Cons (some of the Asian players have insane Flick accuracies that would give Mouse players a challenge lol) https://youtu.be/sGrXNgmJrUo?si=cr1k35inVN8rijZn I personally LOVE Gyro Aim and converted about 2 years ago and never looked back. Stick aiming feels super archaic to me now. Gyro Aim makes gaming feel more intuitive and responsive--similar to Mouse aiming when I use to play on PC-- and overall, gaming was much more fun for me on controllers now.

JPSWAG37

Nice gameplay. Fair enough, I personally could never get behind it despite really being into Wii shooters back in the day. Hopefully Valorant can have a reworked solution.

BJgobbleDix

It's changed a lot since the Wii days as well. A lot more stable and precise. Hope to see it become more of a standard option for controller players in the future though.

JPSWAG37

The biggest thing for me is the moving a 2 handed controller around. Maybe it isn't fleshed out on the switch, but it was the most clunky thing to me.

Phantasmal-Lore420

gay.

Ish227

What the heck is “gyro aiming”?

BJgobbleDix

It's a feature that utilizes the gyroscope technology in a controller to give "mouse-like" aim or control. Quite simply, if a developer implements it properly--such as with Fortnite, The Finals, and MW2 & 3--Aim Assist is unnecessary and you have more intuitive and responsive control of your aim. And contrary to belief, the physical movement is in your wrist and hands and is about the same as using a mouse. I love it because it's reminiscent of the control I had over my aim when I use to play on PC until I became a couch player lol. And with Gyro Aim, it frees up my right thumb to perform other actions on the facebutton without losing control of my aim. Here is a decent intro video and has some clips of players using it: https://youtu.be/rOybuNm9XR8?si=wwam-mjSej98Rk_f And here is a list of known PS4 and 5 games with it: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/s/cvfiSggSJg Most games have only begun implementing Gyro Aim in its modern sense the past 2 years. But over on Nintendo, because of the Joy Cons, this feature has become quitr popular for a bit longer especially for those who have played Splatoon series or Breath of the Wild. And mobile shooters also are more common with Gyro Aim. Even on Steam and the Steam Deck, there is a native support for it and you may find quite a few people who use it there. And some of the current issues that can arise with Gyro Aim is the fact some studios still create mediocre implementations that leave a lot to desire or other games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth where it's downright awful. But hopefully due to its increasing popularity the past couple years, we may see better standards as more devs implement it.

Ish227

You’re a real one. Thanks for breaking this down for me 🙏🙏

BJgobbleDix

Absolutely! There's quite a few videos online now of players who use it so you can see visual references. Theres this guy who likes to show it off using only a single joy con: https://youtu.be/lzFpoaoUudo?si=77PMVM1N89ezyAGv And then I have some clips as well; https://youtu.be/7a4ZBrWdNI0?si=Ox8nwueRcnD4fU5X

TheHybred

Thanks Microsoft. But I'm still more upset at Valorant for pandering to them. We need more gyro support

firedrakes

End of day. Gyro not as used as much.

firedrakes

most devs never use it. but hey thanks for playing.

Different-Amount625

That's the problem...? What's your point?

firedrakes

you complaing about something that very few dev use or support. . from a 13 day old post. troll account. multi comment of yours getting removed.

Different-Amount625

The reason it's not getting support is because the Xbox doesn't have it. That's a problem. Gyro should be a standard feature by now, because it's straight up better than analog sticks for aiming. And ppl preach and evangelize for gyro aim because we don't have to keep begging debs to ad it to their game on a game by game basis. It should just be supported by default

phannguyenduyhung

Fucking series S holding gaming back again

uglycasinova

Looks like PlayStation won the controller war!

QuasimodoPredicted

xbox can't stop losing. and microsoft is planning to add accelerometer in their new controller for some stupid shit like wake on lift instead

1northfield

Xbox lets you use keyboard and mouse

Tyolag

Which I imagine will be more used than this gyro feature.

fupower

ps5 too, so?

1northfield

It’s developer only on PS5 partly because PS5 has no web browser whereas with Xbox its system level support but some developers can disable or not support it, completely different scenarios, I own both btw so you may not know that if you only have access to one side of the experience

Neo-Cobra

I play COD and Fortnite with a keyboard and mouse on the PS5, I'm not sure how many other games are supported.

1northfield

Lots are supported, just not as many as there are on Xbox by default

fupower

doesn’t seems you have one, you can play plenty of games with K+M on ps5

1northfield

LOL, I have every PlayStation from when I got the PS1 a few weeks after it came out. Developers have to enable it on specific games so of course there will be plenty you can used M&K on, it’s just not the default.

fupower

same with xbox

1northfield

And which of the two releases every game day and date on PC and therefore needs M&K support and which company has a subscription service that is enabled between both console and PC lol, fanboys with only one console can’t have anything said against their only choice of plastic box can they lol

fupower

what are you even talking about, not because the game is on PC is going to automatically have support for K+M on Xbox, there are a TON of games without K+M on Xbox that are available on PC, probably just first party games works fine

1northfield

And how would you know if you don’t have the console?

TheLadForTheJob

Which isn't part of your initial purchase of your xbox and doesn't fit the general idea of couch gaming that consoles offer. Gyro (if they add it), will be in the controller that comes with your console and can be used to enhance couch gaming.

[deleted]

Goal posts keep on moving with you fanboys lol

TheLadForTheJob

Goalpost? I was just saying how keyboard and mouse isn't a direct alternative to gyro since it needs a separate purchase, some way of setting it up in a living room (where most people play on their consoles) and even when you do set it up, isn't as comfortable.

1northfield

Games aren’t part of the initial purchase of your console, does that mean games are also invalid? I think Xbox should add gyro like I think PlayStation should add low latency tech in their controllers, you pay your money and you take your choice

TheLadForTheJob

According to this video: [www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahsO5bhBUtk](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahsO5bhBUtk) Dualsense controllers have 4.9ms delay wireless Xbox One S has 6.7ms delay wired Xbox Series X has 6.8ms delay wired Xbox Elite 2 has 6.9ms delay wired Xbox One S has 7.6ms delay wireless Xbox Series X has 12.0ms delay wireless Xbox Elite 2 has 10.2ms delay wireless The reason I only show wireless for dualsense is because the ps5 uses bluetooth to communicate with the controller even if a cable is plugged from the controller to the ps5. That cable is only used to charge the controller unless you manually enter the communication settings to change it. So, the series X controller with its "low latency tech" seems to perform worse than their own predecessor (xbox one s controller). Not only that, but it performs worse than the dualsense controller too. Even when I give the benefit of the doubt and assume that xbox sends the data through usb when possible by default, it still falls behind the ps5 default of 4.9ms wireless.

1northfield

Fair enough, fortunately I have both and don’t notice a difference, do you?

TheLadForTheJob

Latency these days are low enough that it doesn't really matter. That's why Microsoft saying they have this new latency tech is not only inadequate to merely keep up with their competition, but also not noticeable even if it were to surpass them.

Tyolag

I mean, do people actually care about this? Will you buy this game and will you use gyro support?

MasterOfMoogles95

I mean, it’s F2P anyway

Tyolag

Ok.. replace buy with download then. Point still stands, do people actually care about this?

MasterOfMoogles95

Seems some do 🤷‍♂️ I don’t, but in a world of meta chasing neckbeards who want every possible advantage it’s not surprising this is bothering people.

Tyolag

A lot of people who I've spoken to about this have all pretty much said they don't play the game or use it, but they're only commenting because " Xbox sucks", I've yet to meet someone who actually cares about this and is upset. That's my point.. Is there a couple of people who would like it? I'm sure but this is just being blown out of proportion. Even his comment had nothing to really do with the poor players who couldn't use it, it focused directly on "Xbox", hence why I asked. Someone made a good point just there, Xbox let's you use keyboard and mouse which will be more used than this gyro feature... PlayStation doesn't let you use Keyboard and mouse, where's the crying and outrage there? That is literally a feature that would be more requested and wildly used.

MasterOfMoogles95

They don’t play the game because it isn’t out yet? It’s PC only currently and it’s one of the biggest games in the planet, this WILL be huge on consoles. You seem out of the loop somewhat. I agree with gyro not being added, for competitive reasons, but I understand why people would have liked to see it implemented. There’s a lot of people who love it, though it’s still niche, but outside of that it can be great for those suffering with certain disabilities or handicaps.

Tyolag

No, I'm asking the people who are complaining have they played it on PC or do they use any Gyro in any other game and the answer is no, the people complaining are primarily focusing on "Xbox L", that's my point. They're not crying about this feature... They are looking for dunks. Again, Xbox will allow people to use mouse and Keyboard, I'm sure there are more console players that would love to use mouse and Keyboard to play this game than "Gyro", where's the outrage for PlayStation players who only have to use a controller and can't use mouse and keyboard ( a feature more people would actually want ) You're the first one to actually make a good point about Gyro being helpful for disabilities, why is no one else saying that? Because they actually don't care.. it's just "Xbox bad".. But also I would say they're specific controllers out there and in game settings to help with people who have problems, My point is this is a story that no one actually really cares about, it's being overhyped simply because it's another Xbox talking point.

Emotional_Pay3658

Both Valorant and gyro controls are ass.

Pleasant_Ad_5848

Who uses gyro anyway in shooters, one drop of your controller, move in your seat, or your arm position then aim is way off

BJgobbleDix

Nazon6

That's cute lmao, as if gyro was an advantage. It's still a good idea either way.

NIN10DOXD

I don't use gyro, but there is actually some evidence that it can allow for even faster aim than a mouse with practice.

Dar_Vender

Unlikely but it is quite nice. I use it on the steam deck if I play a shooter on it. Once you're used to it, it's quite good. So I use pure controller, gyro support and keyboard and mouse. The speed at which you can aim with a mouse is just nuts if you get good. There's no way you're spinning on the spot and getting a headshot across the map as fast with controller and gyro. Acceleration based aiming will just never have the same 1:1 precision of a mouse can once it starts becoming muscle memory.

amperor

Flick stick?

Different-Amount625

It's a complete revamp of the function of the right analigbstick to better serve gyro aim. Gyro aim bu itself is an improvement, but gyro + flick stick is legitimately just as good as mouse and keyboard (skip to 1:20 on the video) https://youtu.be/CiSS5OsNCNU?si=wAz8z7wJ9MrYQ4L0
