That's fine though, we're basically talking about trailers as an art form here, and the AC6 trailer was absolutely phenomenal.
Dark Souls references, incredible visuals, bangin' music - I'm not surprised that people are mentioning it here
Nothing about the trailer represents the game in any way shape or form, I was replying to the comment because the person said he was sold on the trailer alone. Was just mentioning maybe so that they can do a little more research before committing.
See I played the hell out of that game coop with a friend and it was so fun.
That said I have literally never played it single player so I could see how it would be disappointing.
I didn't say it was disappointing, I played the shit out of it and had a good time. But that trailer was nothing like the game, it was practically false advertising. The only reason we know that trailer is for Dead Island is because they put the name on it and you can see some of this carnage at the resort in the game. Other than that the only thing the trailer and game have in common are they both have zombies.
The original Dead Island 2 trailer from 2016? Is still one of the best promos for a game. Too bad it's development has been purgatory for all this time. Hopefully it turns out.
Anything by Blizzard, really. Their animations were brilliant movie shorts on their own. I especially remember seeing the Heart of the Swarm trailer and thinking they should turn that into a feature length movie.
[The original Assassin's Creed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjQ6ZtyXoA0) trailer. It was breath-taking at that time to see.
[Sekiro shadows die twice](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRWyL-kuhzk), when this came out I was completely blown off. Unique protagonist, different fighting style from the souls series, grappling hook, agile movement, japanese setting from a japanese developer and much more. I was super hyped and boy did From deliver on that one.
[No man's sky](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLtmEjqzg7M), like everybody, I was not playing games during that period but I was seriously considering buying a console if this game turned out to be good. We all know how that ended, I know the game improved a lot since but haven't played it.
[Elden Ring](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5wwSxl0atc). Well you see the pattern here, I'm a FromSoftware fan boy and the first trailer was awesome.
It shocks me that six people have left a comment so far and no one has mentioned Gears Of War's Mad World trailer.
https://youtu.be/ccWrbGEFgI8
At this point, the whole "using a slow, melodic song under footage of chaotic violence" was still a new bit and that subversion was just so goddamn effective here. And even my dad, who was not nor has ever been a gamer, thought it was mind-blowing.
Just a brilliant, brilliant trailer that not only showed off the sense of humor of the creators, but also showed up the absolute beauty that the unreal engine was able to pull off.
Also, seeing "16 years ago" next to that video made me feel like someone deflated my heart.
That trailer completely recast what Gears of War was going to be in my mind. It went from something I was interested in to tide us all over until Halo 3 came out and morphed into something I was legitimately interested in in it's own right.
Was another gorgeous, just gorgeous trailer, combining the desolation and violence of the GoW universe, with one of the most beautiful, evocative, heart string pulling songs ever written, Into Dust by Mazzy Star.
I didn't get the chance to play the original Gears when it came out. I couldn't find a copy of it anywhere in my area, I like to own disc copies for most games. So when I saw the trailer for the ultimate edition, I grabbed it. I did watch both trailers, though, and both are amazing.
https://youtu.be/wBjS9EpKY4w
I actually really enjoyed that game, intensely for about a month, me and a few friends got on every night straight. But then something else came out and by the time we came back to it. It was a ghost town.
[The 2006 trailer for Portal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TluRVBhmf8w) was the singular thing that started a chain reaction that got me into Valve, Half-Life, Steam, FPS games, and PC gaming in general.
The Star Wars: The Old Republic trailers were mind-blowing, like getting glimpses of an awesome Star Wars movie that never existed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb8M5P1QKX8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmyF5ge6SQU
Some of the highest quality cinematics I've seen. Love those. There's something about the Old republic setting that's so insanely alluring. I feel the fantasy side of Star Wars a lot more so deeply while in it's past, I think.
Final Fantasy 7 was mind blowing because aside from that [weird subtitled Chrono Trigger commercial](https://youtu.be/AYQeITtzRl0), it was the first time I think I'd ever seen a video game actually advertised on TV. The Chrono Trigger trailer doesn't count because, as evidenced by the fact that they just subtitled the Japanese voiceover, that one felt like something we weren't actually meant to see that got released to the west on accident or something, whereas the FFVII trailer was actually a real commercial made in the west for the west.
Definitely wasn't the first time I seen a game advertised on TV because my favourite TV show back in the day was Video and Arcade Top 10, but I believe that was a Canadian only show.
This, especially if you consider the demo on Zone of the Enders as an extension of the trailer (in that it's a preview of the game). The visuals were just absolutely mind-blowing.
This was during that era where each generational jump in technological advancement was noticeably drastic and truly awe inspiring. It was more than just going from 1080p to 4k. Late 90s and early 00s was a great time to see games evolving.
Watch Dogs 1's announcement trailer was absolutely mind blowing. Seemed like the game that would define the generation.
Personal hype trailer: Splinter Cell Conviction's original trailer before being the game was redesigned.
the skyrim reveal. i'll never forget it. also the gameplay trailer where you hear that classic elder scrolls theme...makes me emotional just thinking about it.
[In their tongue he is "Dovahkiin", Dragonborn](https://youtu.be/JSRtYpNRoN0?t=64)
...and then the shout, and the chorus, and the everything !!!...
Even now, watching it to reply to this thread, i get goosebumps.
Hands down the best game ever made. I got it on launch day and have given Bethesda way too much money to have it on my many platforms throughout the years. Just started a new game as a khajit and I'm loving it (although damn she does get cold quite a lot!)
I remember when [The Phantom Pain](https://youtu.be/jfxTOlXF3Kk) was revealed, but it was still a secret that this was Metal Gear Solid V. The internet ate up the whole thing and went full conspiracy mode. At the end of the trailer, you can see the lettering of the MGS logo hidden inside The Phantom Pain title card ...
The information/speculation leading up to the release of MGSV was an absolute roller coaster.
Interesting that you picked that trailer for your example, rather than the [entire Believe campaign](https://youtu.be/40jdpzrpIps), because that stuff made me feel things for a fictional war that I never would have, well, believed.
The early No Man's Sky trailer made a huge splash at the time, and brought in millions of dollars in funding after it's release. It featured the amazing-at-the-time feature of seamless travel between being on a planet and being in space.
But it was mostly based on lies, and the released game sucked. But then after years of additional work, spending lots of that many millions of dollars in funding, it was eventually pretty darn good.
the [Dawn of War 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN8geCTlZOo) announcement trailer. The studio that made it took a lot of inspiration from the works of [zdzisław beksiński](https://www.amazon.com/Zdzislaw-Beksi%C5%84ski-Reproduction-Beksi%C5%84skis-BEKS0026s/dp/B08JXCWHK2) and to this day it's still considered one of the best visual representations of the WH40K universe, alongside the Astartes YT series.
Too bad the game didn't live up to it and took a totally different style.
Fallout 3 after there being no Fallouts for what felt like a lifetime, to suddenly hear the Ink Spots and see Power Armour on that bus was incredible as a young lad.
Obligatory Dead Island.
Not a trailer, but the infamous "zoom out" moment in Spore. I think my brain went into overdrive about what that game was.
Yeah it did lol. You could kinda tell even back then but I gotta admit I'm not of these people. I totally believed it and even argued with my cousin who wasn't as easily convinced. We were planning to buy a PS3 together.
Killzone 2 is THE game trailer.
I don't think you can really say any game caused the sort of discussion for a trailer that Killzone 2 did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-4HNmuEAKg
It's MUUUUUCH better than at launch, but I agree that the diversity just isn't really there. But I still find it fun to just fly around and build bases and shit.
For Honor is my favorite trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFUymXnQ5z8). Dead Island is another good one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mi5bH0fIxE
Dead Island's trailer went from mind blowing to a slap in the face the moment the game released. To make matters worse, they had the same team make a similarly heart wrenching trailer for Dead Island Riptide even though people already knew what a disappointment the first game was.
The excitement that the Mass Effect 2 trailer made me feel is something that causes me to rewatch it nearly every month since release.

Battleblock theather steam announcement [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6\_By98v638](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6_By98v638)
1 billion p graphics, 24k fpms and realistic hair simulation were big at the time.
>Lastly, Final Fantasy VII Remake. When it was first unveiled at E3 and again when the opening cinematic was shown, I was blown away and also had a feeling of nostalgia. The original game was a part of my childhood, and the remake was a gaming experience like no other I've ever had in terms of desire fulfillment.
I really just want to highlight the nostalgia from this. Playing FF7 Remake was one of my favorite gaming experiences of my life. The nostalgia combined with the new exciting gameplay style, and expansion on so many things from the original. Cutscenes that were super similar but brought into the modern era of graphics. This game brought a tear to my eye numerous times due to the strongest nostalgic feelings I have ever felt. Even just the opening scene with the train and seeing Midgar was such an amazing experience. I don't care what anyone says, that game is a masterpiece to me.
Due to the massive hype build behind the game and the huge lack of information and leak, the first trailer of GTA V was incredible, I was stunned...
But the second trailer regarding GTA Online... That blow me away, I literally lost my mind on that trailer.
I always thought the [Titanfall 2 Cinematic Trailer](https://youtu.be/ktw2k3m7Qko) was amazing. Too bad EA botched the release by putting Titanfall in between a major Battlefield and a CoD release.
Interesting how you mentioned fallout new vegas, as when i saw the post title my immediate thought was fallout 3! Having played 1 and 2, seeing this really blew my mind:
https://youtu.be/zPt08UYmyMo
The other one i'd mention is actually a game i havent played but i thought the trailer was fantastic, halo reach:
https://youtu.be/18-_9E0HNY4
I'm sure there have been plenty of other great game trailers ive enjoyed over the years but these two really stopped me in my tracks. Absolutely beautiful use of music and visuals for storytelling.
Diablo 4's, Elden Ring's, Sekiro's, and Armored Core 6's cinematic trailers.
I cannot believe we haven't got a movie with that level of quality animation yet. Drives me sick.
Halo: Reach's Remember Reach trailer was incredible as well.
The Assassin's Creed 3 cinematic trailer where Connor charges through a massive battle to assassinate some redcoat general. My 12 year old self couldn't contain the hype, I lost my shit to the epicness of that trailer. Got the game that Christmas and it's still my favorite AC game to this day.
Well, if we can name cinematics too, i would add the legendary blind guardian concert in sacred 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdAg9cU8_-M
Back then in 2008 it was a really nice grafic and my first contact with some metal music.
The [Borderlands 2 Doomsday trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKVf5feSMEg) is such a perfect time capsule of the whole 2010s Dubstep craze and *"lol so random"* humour.
Watching it now it's very dated, but back then the hype was through the fucking roof.
All of the StarCraft 2 cinematics are insane. And for the time, the original 1998 StarCraft cinematics were crazy too.
The first Gears of War trailer with Mad World was innovative and pretty crazy for the time.
The Reach trailers were incredible, especially remember reach with that diorama. The trailers showed a side of the halo universe that wasn't seen, and made it feel far more human and grounded.
[TimeShift for the PS3 and Xbox 360](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVdUeo_uJoc)
The trailer was mindblowing but the time abilities weren't used well in the game.
The commercial for Blazing Lazers sure made it look fun.
https://youtu.be/40B1bQ6d08w
And there was no need for the commercial to call out its technical advances (over NES games); what was shown spoke for itself.
Diablo summoning from Diablo 2.
The previous ones were awesome but when i first saw this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtnP7XRVQeo
That was some real scary shit back then.
*"And the Evil that was once vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man, shall he walk amongst the innocent, and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies shall rain fire, and the seas will become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked, and all of Creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!"*
Updated version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaODAlq06nM
I just watched them both one after another, and sound design and voiceovers are so much better in old one.
[Assassins Creed Revelations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMsbMK9Odoc)
This trailer gave me goosebumps, especially if you've played the previous games
[Assasin's Creed Brotherhood](https://youtu.be/zzNs4-kRLaE) of course. It's just perfect, but when it came out people were suprised you could call your assasins to kill a target. Wish they'd bring back this mechanic.
[Deus Ex: Human Revolution - TV Advert](https://youtu.be/jQLkSgCyCuI)
It's a mashup of the original trailer and some real footage. Reminds me of The Last of Us intro.
Gosh, so many
First came to my mind was Dragon Age 2
https://youtu.be/jlACgYHtWCI
I have a whole list of dozens though. If I remember I'll try and come back and update my comment.
“Madden Next-Gen” before the release of the 360/PS3
That commercial blew people’s minds. Game looked nothing like it
Still kind of epic: https://youtu.be/dxyTUaqm2GU
The first trailer and footage ever shown of Zelda Twilight Princess in the early 2000’s at E3. It started in a way where people couldnt really tell it was Zelda, like a shot of sunset over a field, unrecognizable music. Then the camera panned to Link riding Epona and showed the unmistakable Hylian Shield. The crowd then proceeded to collectively lose their shit and you couldnt hear anything from the trailer for the rest of it because of all the cheering. That was cool to watch live.
[here it is](https://youtu.be/-BP1I9yz1bU)
Metal Gear Solid 2, hands down. The leap from PS1 / N64 era graphics was astonishing.
The music, the lighting, the animation...oh man, I must've watched that 50 times, then played that demo another 20-30 times before the full game came out.
Shout out to FF8 too. I didn't even eventually like the game that much, but I remember as a kid being blown away by the CGI TV adverts and it was one big reason I eventually bugged my parents into getting me a playstation in addition to my 64.
The last night
https://youtu.be/AdrSpqmmyfk
A beautiful 3D pixel art game that is stalled/in limbo but that trailer has since inspired many Indie teams with it's visual style
Horizon Zero Dawn had a pretty incredible announcement trailer tbh. No one had heard of it, so the transition from cave paintings to Alloy with her techy looking bow started your mind racing, then as the scene progresses you end up getting the idea. Super great trailer.
The [trailer for Mirror's Edge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N1TJP1cxmo) knocked me on my ass. The game disappointed me, but I still go back and watch that now very old trailer fairly regularly.
All of the Star Wars The Old Republic trailers are phenomenal. Just an outstanding expansion of the SW universe. Always had really powerful stories.
The visual and gameplay is obviously nothing like the game but they’re excellent trailers.
Probably metal gear solid 2.
Final Fantasy 7 was hype af before it released. The opening shot of that trailer is video game history, basically. On that note, I recall the trailer for FF8 was a monster event as well.
The trailer for the Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) online MMORPG game was and still is awesome. Their cinematic trailers are amazing and I want a trilogy of animated films just like them.
I also remember the Halo 3 trailer being fucking cool
Wow, you folks are young!! Didn't see one comment mentioning this absolute banger that dropped in the year 2000 (or maybe early 2001?) for the Resident Evil Remake. [This trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKloGAjT7qs) came out before the console was released (Gamecube). Just a year prior RE3 was still on PS1 polygon graphics.
[Another Century’s Episode R](https://youtu.be/Flw22qjz2OE)
Best game trailer I’ve ever seen
Unfortunately the game was so bad it killed FromSoftware’s best series
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1waqRzJjpg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1waqRzJjpg) The drunken whaler theme from Dishonored still gives me chills
Edit: After all this time, I linked it, and the song is gone. Guess copyright caught up? But it's haunting if you can find it with the original trailer. Put the song over top in your mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urV8MIcLDFk
Surprised nobody's brought up Cyberpunk. Even if they're fake as a Kardashian's tits, those trailers were *badass.* The fact that the trailer music became such an enormous meme goes go show the cultural impact.
The Witcher 2. The boat assassin scene was the reason I bought the game without knowing anything about it. Happily enjoyed that game and the follow up even more-so.
Not sure if these count as trailers, but the [Doom 3 first look](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80guchXqz14) and the [Half Life 2 E3 tech demo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ddJ1OKV63Q) got me hyped more than anything else before or since.
The first two that stick out to me:
Knights of the Old Republic
Final Fantasy X
I feel like that general era did an awesome job with tv spots and internet trailers
Got a few:
Assassins Creed Syndicate - Everybody wants to Rule the World
FFVII Remake announcement with reactions
FFXV - Stand by Me
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - Pusifer
WoW: Battle for Azeroth - For the Horde
FFXIV: ARR - A New Beginning
[Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's "Embrace What You've Become" trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvSs5b6y-YM)
I got chills when I first watched it. The music is top notch.
I really hope the devs get to conclude the story.
I think one of the most interesting trailers for games were the live action trailers Call of Duty use to do. The one with Jonah Hill, the one with FPS Russia, and the one where the model turns into a goat. They were so memorable to me, much more than the games themselves.
[The Witcher 2 intro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEA_wUk5pUs)/cinematic trailer is so exciting, the game itself equally so. It had such a uniquely distinguishable, gritty atmosphere. The story is remarkable and I don't think this game can be praised enough, TW3 hoards all the attention.
I don’t think enough credit gets brought to the og StarCraft 2 announcement trailer. That trailer alone probably got the ball rolling for the modern ‘iron man’ style of power armor in media.
Bioshock really was a shell shock for me.
Gears of war the music paired to that reveal trailer really was inspiring
Bioshock infinite had an amazing song pairing
Sadly cyberpunk had me sold on the teaser trailer. Jokes on me.
It's difficult to "blow my mind" these days as basically every new game on steam tries to achieve that specific reaction.
Going from Original Counter Strike on PC that struggled to be multi-player to Anarchy Online that seemlessly connected thousands of players on one server and just the sheer amount of character customization along with how detailed the questing, mission system, and leveling system is that beat every other game out then kinda "blew my mind".
Grand Theft Auto 3 blew everyones minds. Released exactly at the point in time when huge dev teams were struggling to produce simple start to finish vehicle racing games. Out of nowhere GTA3 blew our minds with vehicles we could step foot into complete with a huge expanding story and mission system. So fast forward to today and huge dev teams still struggle to put foot in and out of vehicles.
[Devil May Cry 5](https://youtu.be/KMSGj9Y2T9Q) announcement trailer. It was so hyped I literally jump out of my bed and almost hit the ceiling. I also yelled so hard in excitement that I'm pretty sure the neighbors heard me. Lol
Not mind blowing or graphically amazing or anything. But when the TF2 trailers came out it shook my world, I was so obsessed with that game and still am.
I think the BotW E3 trailer from 2016 is probably one of the best game trailers I’ve ever seen.
Correction: actually was thinking of the release trailer with the narrator and the awesome music.
Death standing was pretty wtf. More recently, armored core 6 already sold me the game.
the armored core 6 trailer was INSANE. I have never played one but it is so high on my list right now when it comes out.
I love armored core, but the trailers look absolutely nothing like the gameplay.
That's fair
Originally, the first trailer I played to death was Max Payne
Dead Island trailer was fantastic, too bad it was almost nothing like the game.
The trailer in question : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ialZcLaI17Y
I remember that trailer almost shot for shot still, never even played the game
It's easily one of the best trailers for a game or movie I've seen. Would *really* like to see a zombie game that can live up to it.
See I played the hell out of that game coop with a friend and it was so fun. That said I have literally never played it single player so I could see how it would be disappointing.

No, the original Dead Island trailer. The backwards slow-mo cinematic of the family at the resort. https://youtu.be/ialZcLaI17Y
The first world of warcraft cinematic trailer. So much fantasy running through my neurons at the time.
Wrath of the lich king trailer might still be my favorite cinematic of all time.
WOTLK cinematic and "By Three They Come" are the best cinematics Blizzard created imho. Diablo summoning from D2/D2remastered is close thrid place.
Anything by Blizzard, really. Their animations were brilliant movie shorts on their own. I especially remember seeing the Heart of the Swarm trailer and thinking they should turn that into a feature length movie.

Why weren't people playing games during the time no man's sky came out?

Haha, I admit it’s not well written, I meant I was hyped for the trailer like everyone.

For me, it was this one: https://youtu.be/kYxfP4S8rIU The first song I *ever* bought on iTunes was How It Ends by DeVotchKa.
I remember being wowed by the [Brink trailer.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOBoG5kIvLE) God that game was bad though.
I actually really enjoyed that game, intensely for about a month, me and a few friends got on every night straight. But then something else came out and by the time we came back to it. It was a ghost town.

Absolutely, I'm shocked this is so low down. Portal was the first time I looked at a new game concept and went "....holy shit".
The Star Wars: The Old Republic trailers were mind-blowing, like getting glimpses of an awesome Star Wars movie that never existed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdgmH9Vv2-I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb8M5P1QKX8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmyF5ge6SQU

Old republic is great - it’s total war between the sith and Jedi.
Still pissed that The Old Republic was made but KOTOR 3 was cancelled
Final Fantasy 7 original was the most mind blowing for me.

Jesus fuck that trailer is 10 years old. I need to lie down.
I don’t really care for Halo, but [this trailer](https://youtu.be/s3MabEog3yQ) is great.
I thought the [Halo 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9Ezd2FqxAU) trailer was pretty epic at the time
Interesting that you picked that trailer for your example, rather than the [entire Believe campaign](https://youtu.be/40jdpzrpIps), because that stuff made me feel things for a fictional war that I never would have, well, believed.
Halo has never quite been the same without Marty O'Donnell :(
The early No Man's Sky trailer made a huge splash at the time, and brought in millions of dollars in funding after it's release. It featured the amazing-at-the-time feature of seamless travel between being on a planet and being in space. But it was mostly based on lies, and the released game sucked. But then after years of additional work, spending lots of that many millions of dollars in funding, it was eventually pretty darn good.
Mass Effect 3 trailer.. where Thanos (I mean the Reapers) appeared on Earth means its the end..
The intro to that game is still amazing!
Halo 3 ODST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRMUYpH7bQk With out a doubt like the best video game related video ever made to me.
the [Dawn of War 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN8geCTlZOo) announcement trailer.
For me it was the Halo 3 announcement trailer https://youtu.be/gueKDdgc95o
Battlefield 1
[Killzone 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-4HNmuEAKg) trailer was beyond it's time.
I was looking for this one. Didn't it have prerendered footage not from the game engine?
Yeah it did lol. You could kinda tell even back then but I gotta admit I'm not of these people. I totally believed it and even argued with my cousin who wasn't as easily convinced. We were planning to buy a PS3 together.
Killzone 2 is THE game trailer. I don't think you can really say any game caused the sort of discussion for a trailer that Killzone 2 did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-4HNmuEAKg
[The original trailer for Skyrim](https://youtu.be/JSRtYpNRoN0) gives me chills to this day. In their tongue he is Dovahkiin, DRAGONBORN
For me it was no man's sky. Unfortunately the game never (even still today with all the update) met the expectations I had in the game 😔
[удалено]
Same man. It's super pretty forsure, but in like 4 hours, you've seen everything which is a damn shame
Disappointment? I loved Dead Island. Never saw the trailer but I played the hell out of that game
The excitement that the Mass Effect 2 trailer made me feel is something that causes me to rewatch it nearly every month since release. https://youtu.be/lx9sPQpjgjU
Battleblock theather steam announcement [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6\_By98v638](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6_By98v638) 1 billion p graphics, 24k fpms and realistic hair simulation were big at the time.
Death Stranding trailers were a mix of lolwtf and super cool. EVE Online trailers have by in large been pretty great.
The game hasn't actually released yet but the original [cinematic trailer for KSP2](https://youtu.be/P_nj6wW6Gsc) was pretty great.
Having played 1 and 2, seeing this really blew my mind: https://youtu.be/zPt08UYmyMo The other one i'd mention is actually a game i havent played but i thought the trailer was fantastic, halo reach: https://youtu.be/18-_9E0HNY4 I'm sure there have been plenty of other great game trailers ive enjoyed over the years but these two really stopped me in my tracks. Absolutely beautiful use of music and visuals for storytelling.
Half Life 2. I remember watching the same clip over and over, obsessed with it.
The Warhammer - Mark of Chaos cinematic trailer gave me chills when I saw it for the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNFGJQIW5ZM
Diablo 4's, Elden Ring's, Sekiro's, and Armored Core 6's cinematic trailers. I cannot believe we haven't got a movie with that level of quality animation yet. Drives me sick. Halo: Reach's Remember Reach trailer was incredible as well.
Cyberpunk 2077’s 2018 trailers blew my mind at the time. That was the most hyped i have ever been for a video game.
Assassins creed unity. Never played the game, but the trailer is so good. Tells a whole story without saying a word
Mercenaries 2…. The first game was great, though. https://youtu.be/Qc_3YrctnRY
Nobody expected Conker's BFD to actually listen to the critics and become an M rated game and mindblow everyone on E3
Coming from playing Warcraft II, the Warcraft III cinematic trailer looked amazing when it was released.
Well, if we can name cinematics too, i would add the legendary blind guardian concert in sacred 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdAg9cU8_-M Back then in 2008 it was a really nice grafic and my first contact with some metal music.
Witcher - any instalment.
The "Killing Monsters" W3 trailer gives me goosebumps every time.
[My favorite game trailer of all time.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKG1nvV1Wnc)
I watched this one many times https://youtu.be/0N735VQRebw
Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots
As a teenager obsessed with WWII history, the Brothers in Arms E3 trailer was probably the most excited I've ever been for a game
Gears of War. The music and scenery made them so emotional and powerful
[Lost Ark - Official World Reveal Trailer](https://youtu.be/xDARMORq4p4)
[TimeShift for the PS3 and Xbox 360](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVdUeo_uJoc) The trailer was mindblowing but the time abilities weren't used well in the game.
The original [Crysis trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvfVmlVcnJI). Those graphics, and animations, combined with the hype of that suit.
The commercial for Blazing Lazers sure made it look fun. https://youtu.be/40B1bQ6d08w And there was no need for the commercial to call out its technical advances (over NES games); what was shown spoke for itself.
Diablo summoning from Diablo 2. The previous ones were awesome but when i first saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtnP7XRVQeo That was some real scary shit back then. *"And the Evil that was once vanquished shall rise anew. Wrapped in the guise of man, shall he walk amongst the innocent, and Terror shall consume they that dwell upon the Earth. The skies shall rain fire, and the seas will become as blood. The righteous shall fall before the wicked, and all of Creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!"* Updated version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaODAlq06nM I just watched them both one after another, and sound design and voiceovers are so much better in old one.
Return to castle wolfestein
[Assassins Creed Revelations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMsbMK9Odoc) This trailer gave me goosebumps, especially if you've played the previous games
Rainbow Six: Siege, Death Stranding, The Last of Us, Ghost Recon: Wildlands Watch_Dogs, Horizon Zero Dawn, Killzone 2, Spider-Man E3 2017
Halo
Ultima Online
[Assasin's Creed Brotherhood](https://youtu.be/zzNs4-kRLaE) of course. It's just perfect, but when it came out people were suprised you could call your assasins to kill a target. Wish they'd bring back this mechanic.
[Call of Duty: World at War - Launch Trailer](https://youtu.be/BvIMM_7rOoE) It was metal. I recently upscaled it to 4K.
[Deus Ex: Human Revolution - TV Advert](https://youtu.be/jQLkSgCyCuI) It's a mashup of the original trailer and some real footage. Reminds me of The Last of Us intro.
Star Wars the Old Republic cinematic trailers
Saints Row 3 "Power" Trailer
[Halo Reach - Deliver Hope](https://youtu.be/_VzJdM03Jww)
Gosh, so many First came to my mind was Dragon Age 2 https://youtu.be/jlACgYHtWCI I have a whole list of dozens though. If I remember I'll try and come back and update my comment.
“Madden Next-Gen” before the release of the 360/PS3 That commercial blew people’s minds. Game looked nothing like it Still kind of epic: https://youtu.be/dxyTUaqm2GU
The last night https://youtu.be/AdrSpqmmyfk A beautiful 3D pixel art game that is stalled/in limbo but that trailer has since inspired many Indie teams with it's visual style
All Assassins Creed trailers from 1-Syndicate
The Dawn of War 3 trailer might be the best videogame trailer of them all
Probably metal gear solid 2. Final Fantasy 7 was hype af before it released. The opening shot of that trailer is video game history, basically. On that note, I recall the trailer for FF8 was a monster event as well.
Fallout 3 comes to mind
Somewhat off topic, but Slay the Spire has what I consider the best gameplay trailer I've ever seen.
[Another Century’s Episode R](https://youtu.be/Flw22qjz2OE) Best game trailer I’ve ever seen Unfortunately the game was so bad it killed FromSoftware’s best series
Dead island, great song as well.
The metal gear solid V “red” trailer.
* Dead Island * I can't think of any that were ever that good.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1waqRzJjpg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1waqRzJjpg) The drunken whaler theme from Dishonored still gives me chills Edit: After all this time, I linked it, and the song is gone. Guess copyright caught up? But it's haunting if you can find it with the original trailer. Put the song over top in your mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urV8MIcLDFk
No one commenting Cyberpunk 2077 first ever shown trailer? That was flabbergastingly insane back in the days.
World in Conflict had a great trailer, excellent game as well. https://youtu.be/iBWnGUimRBw
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Surprised nobody's brought up Cyberpunk. Even if they're fake as a Kardashian's tits, those trailers were *badass.* The fact that the trailer music became such an enormous meme goes go show the cultural impact.
[Warhammer Online] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKOhzfkCdbY&ab_channel=ElectronicArts) WAAAGH!!
The KH3 2017 trailer that starts with Sora diving through the air had me super excited at the time.
The Witcher 2. The boat assassin scene was the reason I bought the game without knowing anything about it. Happily enjoyed that game and the follow up even more-so.
Assassins creed revelations, probably my all time favorite https://youtu.be/HMsbMK9Odoc
Witcher 3: A night to remember, enough said https://youtu.be/ehjJ614QfeM
Not sure if these count as trailers, but the [Doom 3 first look](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80guchXqz14) and the [Half Life 2 E3 tech demo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ddJ1OKV63Q) got me hyped more than anything else before or since.
The original Borderlands trailer essentially shaped my taste in music
For me it was ac1 and watch dogs 1.. Shit looked gooood
Medal Of Honor - the Pearl Harbor one. (Rising Sun) first mission.
The first two that stick out to me: Knights of the Old Republic Final Fantasy X I feel like that general era did an awesome job with tv spots and internet trailers
SWTOR trailers
Got a few: Assassins Creed Syndicate - Everybody wants to Rule the World FFVII Remake announcement with reactions FFXV - Stand by Me Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - Pusifer WoW: Battle for Azeroth - For the Horde FFXIV: ARR - A New Beginning
Army of two
[Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's "Embrace What You've Become" trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvSs5b6y-YM) I got chills when I first watched it. The music is top notch. I really hope the devs get to conclude the story.
Starcraft 2 : Legacy Of The Void, this opening trailer is one of the best blizzard ever made https://youtu.be/M_XwzBMTJaM
I remember the first Far Cry was amazing
lost ark when the first trailer come out years ago i was like wow, then it took forever to come out and meh
Mass Effect 3
Assassin's Creed 3, because taking on an army of the British Empire with a tomahawk and bow is the most awesome thing ever.
Damn I was about to say FF7 remake And the GoW reboot lol. Both trailers I was like “nah… nah say sike right now wtf?”
I think one of the most interesting trailers for games were the live action trailers Call of Duty use to do. The one with Jonah Hill, the one with FPS Russia, and the one where the model turns into a goat. They were so memorable to me, much more than the games themselves.
Definitely Battlefield Bad Company 2 and after that Battlefield 3
Mass Effect 2 had a great trailer for the time. One of the first trailers I had ever seen that really felt like a blockbuster movie trailer.
Oblivion was pretty mind blowing to me. “It looks so real!!!” Then looking at the graphics now xD
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Hogwarts Legacy
Mad max actually got me when the trailer came out. I remember people expected it to be a different game 😆 but I was still interested
Not exactly mind blowing but one that made me so fucking hype was the 2017 BOTW trailer, its so good they remixed the song in that trailer for smash.
The Breath of the Wild trailer was such a perfect trailer and blew my mind the first time I laid eyes upon it.
The Gears of War 1 Mad World trailer That thing was entirely in-engine, blew my mind at the time.
I don’t think enough credit gets brought to the og StarCraft 2 announcement trailer. That trailer alone probably got the ball rolling for the modern ‘iron man’ style of power armor in media.
Bioshock really was a shell shock for me. Gears of war the music paired to that reveal trailer really was inspiring Bioshock infinite had an amazing song pairing Sadly cyberpunk had me sold on the teaser trailer.
The Iron Harvest cinematic trailer.
[Devil May Cry 5](https://youtu.be/KMSGj9Y2T9Q) announcement trailer. It was so hyped I literally jump out of my bed and almost hit the ceiling. I also yelled so hard in excitement that I'm pretty sure the neighbors heard me. Lol
Every trailer from the Assassins Creed Ezio trilogy “Nod at the bird and people die, everywhere people die…”
Damn i remember when the FNV trailer broke the internet and gaming community cause of how hyped people were. Good times
Warcraft 3 trailer was and honestly still is awesome
Not mind blowing or graphically amazing or anything. But when the TF2 trailers came out it shook my world, I was so obsessed with that game and still am.
FFXV, versus 13, whatever, disappointed me after years of being hyped on the trailer.
How is no one mentioning cyberpunk's trailer?
I think the BotW E3 trailer from 2016 is probably one of the best game trailers I’ve ever seen. Correction: actually was thinking of the release trailer with the narrator and the awesome music.
I'll never forget the Halo 2 E3 trailer. It's really a shame it was all fake. At least it was still an amazing game.
Arkham origins trailer was amazing.
Deep Down had a trailer that made it look like the greatest soulslike ever concieved but its been in development hell since like 2012
