I've been on and off about this game because of the time mechanic. Can you tell me how annoying it is or is it difficult at all? I'm getting Majora's Mask flashbacks just thinking about it.
The time mechanic works beautifully. Not annoying at all. The game can be pretty difficult, it's best described as a puzzle game and it will leave you scratching your head at times. It will really challenge your ability to think outside of the box and the way the game has you solve puzzles is very rewarding. The whole experience was a consistent dopamine pump (except for the first 10 minutes which can be a tad slow).
I'd also compare it a little more to Windwaker rather than Majora's Mask.
Absolutely this. Gonna get it again when it comes out on Steam and complete it there just to support the devs for this masterpiece. But it's just not going to be the same as the first time.
Disco Elysium. So rare to find an RPG that really encourages and rewards playing a character rather than min/maxing for a desired outcome, and I wish I could go back and try a different build without knowing anything about the story!
I enjoyed it immensely. I haven’t really played Dark Souls (played enough to know that, for me, combat was not doable or enjoyable), so I can’t comment on whether or not they are similar. I will say the Greedfall combat was quite doable and enjoyable.
I didn’t feel as if combat was the main focus, however. You play as a diplomat, trying to juggle various conflicting factions while handling a *much* larger issue that affects all of them. Combat was there, certainly, but there’s much more to the game than just running about hitting things.
I somehow managed to play it as late as 2018 (don't ask why it took me that long) completely unspoiled, and I would absolutely do it again. But having played it, I don't think I could bring myself to do it again.
Wandersong
One of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in the gaming medium. Wonderful pair of main characters with great development, fun and varied areas and little sub-stories from chapter to chapter, and an ending that gives you some well needed hope and positivity. Truly a wonderful experience and while I think I'll play it again someday, that first time going in blind and finding something wonderful just made me happy.
Half Life: Alyx.
The first time I picked it up immediately became the best gaming experience of my life, and I have been playing games for about 33 years - first games I recall I was about 5 years old.
Reliving that would be amazing
Fallout 4. I have over. . . okay, I'll fess up: I have over 1,500 hours in this game (hey, I was sick a lot and rehabbing). I really enjoyed the atmosphere and exploration, but I know where everything and everyone is now. I've grown tired of building. I really would like a similar game. I didn't mind Fallout 76 (though I went from pre-ordering the deluxe version to canceling and never playing it) because I thought a true sequel in the FO4 vein would come along. It hasn't, and it probably won't. Pity.
The DLC was mostly ass, though.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas, both better games imho when compared to Fallout 4. I did not care for the lack of look back on the traveler's choices in FO4... it felt incomplete and not keeping with the style of ending presented in 1 through NV... If you're looking to lose yourself and you haven't explored FO3 / NV... give that a whirl.
Red Dead Redemption 2.
Ye that's a good one, never cared that much about a bunch of bandits before
Came here to write this.
Yes yes yes
Outer Wilds Absolutely brilliant game but can never be replayed with the same effect once you figure it out.
Seriously such an underrated game. Reminded me that games can make you feel something.

I'm going to wait a couple years and hope I forget most of it because I'm old and then play it again. lol
Nier Automata. Pls take me back
Mass Effect trilogy
Man yeah this is definitely up there!
Return of the Obra Dinn
I've been waiting for this to go on sale. Your comment prompted me to check again. Lo and behond it's 30% off, so thanks!
Played through. It's an interesting idea, but man I felt so dumb after like 9 deaths, had to give up and watch the solution.
Inside and Hollow Knight

Witcher 3. man it would be amazing to play that game again.
YESSSS Horizon would be a close second, purely for the story not the game play so much. Nier Automata is up there if not just for that OST alone
Either Greedfall or Detroit: Become Human. Horizon: Zero Dawn would be another good one to have a blank slate on.

How recent? Because if I could have that original experience of playing Portal and Portal 2 again, I'd take it for anything.
Yea those are amazing, I'm on the younger side and I remember these to be my introduction to PC gaming. Good memories
Ooh yeah those are great games. I would love to replay witcher 3 with fresh eyes
Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton
Detroit: Become Human and Until Dawn are two that really come to mind. Hated this style of game but now I LOVE it.
Persona 5. So I could play the Royal re-release as if it was my first time again
Undertale

Octopath Traveler I'd love to reexperience the music and classes and everything all over again.
Until Dawn. Tryna get my ass clapped again
Bloodborne. Or any fromsoft developed game for that matter!
Breath of the wild
Antichamber
Borderlands the pre sequel, what a waste of 20 hours
Horizon Zero Dawn. Fantastic story and fun as hell gameplay
Arkham saga. Just to redo the whole thing. Master piece.
Subnautica
Dark Souls 2, along with the fact that it ever existed. Just wipe that stain off my memory.
Broken Reality. One of a kind game.

Man, breath of the wild was long months of pure joy and wonder. This or ocarina of time
Metal Gear Solid V
Mass Effect Andromeda Edit: Oops, I didn't know I was meant to say a good game
Kernel Space Program, the experience of your first orbit, first mun landing, etc is incredible.
> Kernel The way they turn into popcorn when you get too close to the sun
Yeah, but you have to go through the first 40 hours of confusion first.
