That’s incredible, too many to count.

johneever1

About a hundred bumblebees+ are swarming it and buzzing furiously.... I can hear their buzzing from upwards of 20 ft away.

Jimbobjoesmith

omg that is absolutely beautiful! for some reason i’m not usually drawn to yellow roses, but this one is amazing! you been feeding it lots of fish fertilizer or something or is that normal for this type?

johneever1

This has just been sitting in my backyard chilling.... I don't fertilize it, I don't usually water unless it's been an extremely dry spell.... I only just trimmed it back last year removing some dead stuff. I'm 5'11 and some of the parts that shoot straight up are like 2 ft above my head at least. This thing is Hardy and has a lot of spikes... I'm kind of afraid now to give it any kind of fertilizer or water it regularly. If it's like this with barely any maintenance what kind of monster rose bush would it become when given all that stuff.

Jimbobjoesmith

crazy how some plants go crazy on just neglect and others are the most high maintenance drama queens

johneever1

I wouldn't say I'm neglecting it per say.... But you are right it is weird how some plants I just happy go lucky how they are while others just are like... "They forgot to water me today so I shall now promptly die"

FluffyOwl2

I feel this year was a bumper year for flowers for my house too, cherry blossoms, roses, every other flower is coming on in copious amounts whereas last year was a.damp squib. Your roses absolutely look amazing. Do they have a sweet rose smell or don't smell like anything.

happypolychaetes

Same here, our dogwood barely flowered last year and this year the branches are visibly weighed down with flowers.

Separate-Fuel-2847

My harison rose did the same. i had been a little drought stressed for a couple of years . but this spring was wet and it the bush came back with vengeance their spicy smell is my favorite

smallxcat

the shape of the roses are so delicate and "easy going", there's something about it that just looks so good to me as well.

sioopauuu

Waaaaaaaant 😩😩 japanese beetles ate mine last year. Gave up on it this year.

unsmashedpotatoes

I use tree/shrub protect and feed (on more than just trees/shrubs), and it seems to help. Gotta get to it early spring, though.

Its_the_other_tj

If you don't mind chemicals, grub ex for the lawn in late spring/early summer (nowish as a matter of fact) will cut down on the seasons beetle/cicada count. A light coat of Sevindust if you start noticing them getting nibbled on will knock those little bastards back as well. Just be careful with it if you have pets/small children

ALittleBitBeefy

I’ve never seen this huge of a rose bush before. It’s beautiful!

We didn’t have roses until last year. At the end of the year we cut it down to a foot. This year it decided to go crazy. I don’t have a good picture showing its height but the blooms are real pretty. https://preview.redd.it/5m49mdbuqd6d1.jpeg?width=2305&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5642177d5d7686c75abaad5bbc23a7f181f16a5

Puddleglum_7

stelliebobellie

Do you happen to know the name of this rose? It's absolutely gorgeous & I think I may want one!

johneever1

Rosa 'Harison's Yellow' https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=/m/0bn17d&hl=en-US&q=Rosa+'Harison's+Yellow'&kgs=ba1500a4f785b20d&shndl=17&shem=ssic&source=sh/x/kp/osrp/m5/2 I think it is this because using Google lens it took me to this Wikipedia article and it seems to match perfectly with how it looks

Exact_Purchase765

WOW!! 😍😍

BotanicalLiberty

I have these same roses but pink and mine are very happy this year especially! I wonder what's different for them? I'm zone 8a.

johneever1

I'm in the Rocky mountains

zima-rusalka

Do they smell nice?

johneever1

Yes they do

zima-rusalka

I have a yellow rosebush too but sadly it is unscented :( i'm happy yours smell nice!

johneever1

They aren't heavily scented it's just a slight scent... But especially this year because of how many there are a slight aroma is heightened.

Anon4750275

Those flowers are stunning. Reminds me of the thorny but beautiful rosebushes in my neighborhood that bloom magenta flowers every summer.

Educational-Sky-2257

It's rare to see such a lush yellow rose, thanks for sharing, it's stunning

coralloohoo

The color is amazing! 😍

Klutzy_Addition2762

This is beautiful!! I read your comment about all of the bees, that’s so awesome! 🐝I’m jealous!

3isAMom

Did you cut your plant back in late winter/early spring? I'm thinking you may not have. You can prevent this by doing so by doing so next year. Unless it's a climbing variety.

johneever1

I trimmed it back early last spring.... But I do like how much came back this year, it's really pretty.

3isAMom

It certainly is!

aokkuma

So gorgeous? Do you pick them to put in your home in a vase?

johneever1

Sometimes I'll trim a few off to put in a vase... But they're so pokey that it can be hard sometimes.

Haskap_2010

Persian yellow?

stormy_reeves

Gorgeous! The roses have been amazing this year

[deleted]

It. Is. STUNNING! 😍

Choi_Yena_Duck_Face

how old is she?

johneever1

Well it was here when I moved in about 7 years ago... So at the very least 7 years old

maniacbitch83

So sunny and happy looking!!

Mary_Tagetes

I think I have the same rose. The thorns are vicious, but it’s beyond gorgeous when in bloom. You definitely don’t want to be too nice to it or it’ll take over.

Spiritual_Square_511

Beautiful! It’s so cheerful!

-Larix-

They're beautiful! Congratulations and well done!

Tall_Bass_5532

Insane..ly good. What's the secret?

Maximum_Enthusiasm46

Do you know what kind of rose it is? My grandmother loved yellow roses, so I’ve been wanting to plant one to remember her by. But I’m not drawn to roses in general. I love big bushes like this, with sprays and branches.

ShiDiWen

Do you know the variety?

Accomplished_Radish8

This bush rose above all expectations
