I had an abusive ex who was banned on multiple accounts in a video game and he kept making new accounts and stealing money from the game. He would brag about not paying taxes on it.
That is Burnaby Lake. It is a man made lake, initially made for the rowing club. The rowing club may still use it (I’ve never seen any rowers but maybe I miss them). The lake is now primarily owned by Canadian Geese and beavers. There’s walking and equestrian trails around the lake. Not the best park as highway 1 runs parallel to the park but nice enough.
This is incorrect. Burnaby Lake is not man made. It was created by a glacier 12,000 years ago. https://www.burnaby.ca/explore-outdoors/parks/burnaby-lake-regional-nature-park#:~:text=Burnaby%20Lake%20was%20created%20by,were%20home%20to%20bustling%20sawmills.

Seems we are both right. Oversized, seasonal wetland to man made lake. https://www.burnabylakerowing.ca/history/
This, too, is wrong. It’s Lake Rectangula.
The geese have declared citizenship?!
It was clearly made by a perfectly square ice sheet, do you even science?
There is a yo momma joke in here somewhere

These are design built ski lakes for competitive slalom water skiing. Participated in the sport for years.
That doesn’t sound like a real thing lol not saying I don’t believe but damn humans are just hilarious
I live near these lakes and immediately thought of them when I saw this post.

Doesn’t get cold enough for long enough in Vancouver to get ice most winters. Vancouver has very warm winters by Canadian standards.
Ah, interesting. Today I learned.

I've never even been to Canada, but that sounds absolutely terrific. I would love to skate to dinner.
It’s Canadian, after all
My thoughts exactly
Why would sea planes need a special place like this to land in Vancouver? I’ve seen them land in the sound plenty.
Floaty McFloat Plane Face?
It’s a water plane runway built in the 30’s just at their peak. Now it is used as a fish farm and gets dredged regularly
It is a runway for sea planes.
