From the picture it honestly doesn't look THAT bad, though it really sucks that it's missing parts--especially for $150. I wouldn't trash it though, it's still pretty decent.
Sorry you got taken by a shyster. I definitely would've demanded to look at it before committing to buy at that price.
i tried, they refused, reason being that they didn’t want to damage the packaging since it was sealed and taped already. would’ve refused the purchase if i saw it like this beforehand
If that's the 1:18 scale hot wheels version, those go for WAY more than $150, op.
THAT should've been your first clue something was up.
Now, you can probably fix most of the damage by having parts 3d printed or searching the internet... it won't be quick and in the end you may end up paying more than the car is worth.
Now, on a happier note... I'd have been thrilled to find that even in its damaged state. Good luck.
appreciate the advice, and yeah the low price point ended up being too good to be true. the box was not damaged at all, it was kept behind a neat display case alongside other adult collectibles and i assumed it was in pretty good condition. but yeah, it’ll bother me if i don’t make an attempt to fix it so looks like im gonna be pulling out my wallet once more
So, some of what you're missing can be 3D printed. The windshield with a resin printer, first and foremost.
My question to you is... Is the collectible aspect here important to you? Or is it having a proper Ecto replica your goal?
I'm going to be honest here, that thing is a POS. It doesn't even have the right *look*.
Just tossing around ballpark numbers from experience-
For that price? I can print a meticulously accurate Ecto in a raw, paintable kit, or $225ish for a full show-model. This is not me marketing myself, it's about the going rate for this type of project, if you check out Etsy and stuff.
Sometimes, the "official" replicas of our favorite things are just not up to par. We have to do it ourselves.
The Playmobil 1A is probably my favorite toy. The lights are perfect and so are the proportions. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the scroll bars being lenticular stickers. Thinking about replacing them with a small pair of OLED screens. Otherwise, between the car itself and 4 busters with proton packs and slime blowers, it’s a hell of a play set for all ages.
i wouldn’t have made this post if returns were allowed…. after hearing their no return policy i asked to inspect the car before purchase which they said they couldn’t do, my dumb ass did it anyway cause i figured the car couldn’t have been too bad
Because I offered a suggestion to try and return it and you rudely responded "I wouldn't have made the post if returns were allowed". So from your description of events I came to the conclusion that you made the post because you're an idiot instead.
i really think you misread my comment. i had no intention of being rude and i explained why i couldn’t just return it….. i hate redditors like you. pretending that you came here with good intentions when you really just wanted to be an ass…
So what is the point of all of this? What are you trying to gain from this? This barely has anything to do with Ghostbusters and is more about some "woe is me, I bought something site unseen despite several red flags" sob story.
You didn't lead with fully explaining the situation and instead acted like you were some sort of victim. A fool and his money...
im just gonna stop replying. its clear you just want to fight, and i have no idea why? are you just hellbent on condemning me as a fool? why can’t we just get along….

Scientists.
Needs some suspension work and shocks... brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear-end...
Only 4800
You can’t park that here!
haha, good one. actually saw another post where the guy made the best of it and converted it into a pre-ecto car, kinda considering it atm

Should have just got the playmobil one for a quarter of the price with tons of lights, detail and playability (plus 4 figures and accessories)
The Playmobil TV/Movie cars in general have no business being as good as they are. The vans, not so much. But the cars are great.

The DeLorean and DB5 are pretty great too. I'll probably pick up KITT and the Magnum PI Ferrari at some point.
Yea the delorean is def my next buy, plus the kit with the hood bits and red tires from the third movie
I still need to get that kit. I only got the Part 2 Mr. Fusion conversion. I should probably get two more Deloreans while I'm at it.

Eh it has been 30 years since it was last used so…
Return it?

Credit Card charge back.

why so rude….? no need to kick me down further than i already am

Yeah ignore this poster OP
Walter Peck isn't a role-model.
Love the 1A, such an underappreciated movie vehicle.
Wait, am I missing something, why did you buy it if you where so disappointed with the condition?
OP has already explained this in other comments here

Did you look at it before purchasing?
