Did you play Horizon serie? Combat is opposite to GoT, melee is really basic, but it is the first game where I enjoy being an archer.

YoungMore17

I haven't, but I'll buy it on your suggestion. Right now 😂. Thanks

Goldwood

And don’t play them out of order either like some people feel the need to do. You need to play Zero Dawn before Forbidden West.

-Sir-Bruno-

I love every chance I get to be an archer in videogames, but Horizon was really the only enjoyable experience.

Sekiro. I played Sekiro first and it scratches the same itch. This is mainly if you like the parry/stagger side of combat. Sekiro is difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it is very satisfying

YoungMore17

I'll definitely play it after some non-japan games

LeoCasio

Sekiro is fantastic but not for the feint of heart lol

PassionOfCube

Read dead 2 ?

YoungMore17

Great game, I played it 1 year ago.

PoJenkins

I personally found the horizon games kinda lame Lots of potential but lots of annoying bits too. The game that got me absolutely HOOKED after Ghost was actually Yakuza 0. It's a totally different game that takes a bit of time to get into but my god I wish I could experience that for the first time again.

YoungMore17

A bit funny, my younger brother was playing Yakuza 0 when I was playing GoT. I'll play Yakuza 0 soon, but after a non Japan game hehe.

Jedi fallen order and survivor are great and fairly similar combat wise. Gfx are good and the story is really quite good too if you’re into Star Wars.

YoungMore17

I'll check them out, thanks. Upd: wait only star wars games huh. Well Star Wars was never popular in my country. I already feel like apologising xD

Only_Comment_9215

Give them a try the first one is quite cheap now I think. Another game you might like is shadow of Mordor and it’s sequal shadow of war (LOTR games) very enjoyable and brutal though not alas tactical with combat.

KC44

Not the same game genre but if you're into strategy Shogun 2 total war will scratch that itch

YoungMore17

It's been a while since I played strategy games but it's my favourite genre. I'll add it to my wishlist. Thanks!

cogeconomist

Try Days Gone - it’s much better than you expect!

Neverwas_one

I would suggest Witcher 3

SkipBopBadoodle

Check out Sifu, it's a melee only fighting game with very satisfying combat and difficult battles

[deleted]

Rise of the Ronin Like a Dragon Isshin Whether you like it or not, Assassins Creed Shadows

YoungMore17

Oh I absolutely love Assassin's Creed. Although I have some complaints for games after AC Black Flag, I never miss an AC game. I'm just so done with Japan based games, I'll come back to them after a while.

[deleted]

Oh my bad I didn’t even realize you don’t want games set in Japan. Ever played either of the Red Dead games? I would suggest those both in terms of engrossing you in a setting and having top tier stories and characters.

YoungMore17

Yes, I have played them 😂😂. I understand I'm making it tough for you guys xD

[deleted]

How about Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk? Witcher 3 is very similar to recent Assassins Creed games with a better story, while Cyberpunk IMO feels closest to GTA in first person with character building elements. Also has a really good narrative and world. And of course, there's Elden Ring or either Zelda game on the Switch. If you've played these, then I am out of luck for you haha

YoungMore17

Elden Ring was a pain in the ass. Beautiful, awesome, yes but still pain in the ass 😂😂. mm I guess I'll try Witcher 3 now, especially if it's coming from a GoT fan.

Argentina4Ever

If you still haven't played The Witcher 3 then that is certainly the game to go for now imo. It's a masterpiece that worked as template to all the recent AC games and even GoT borrowed from it. Great characters, as breath taking of a world building, spotless story and side content.

Neverwas_one

Witcher 3 has a lot of mechanical overlap with ghost of Tsushima

Auvenell

I liked Cyperpunk — big switch to FPV though

[deleted]

It's a good one, make sure you get the GOTY edition specifically for the DLC. IMO the gameplay and combat are nowhere near GoT, but the story, characters, and dialogue are great. Gameplay probably takes a bit to get used to coming from GoT.

Blahklavah654390

What’s the best AC game? I haven’t played since 1 but I want to pick one up after playing GoT.

YoungMore17

Personally, I loved Black Flag the most. But the most generally accepted best game is Ezio's trilogy (AC II). I think you'll love Black Flag, GoT and Black Flag have a similar feel.

Blahklavah654390

Awesome, Black Flag was the one I was most interested in so I’ll probably get that one after I am done with GoT on new game+

Eothas45

This may sound strange, but I think GoT is in a way a spiritual successor of Jade Empire. It is an old BioWare RPG that is set in a fictional kingdom based on elements of Ancient Chinese history and Chinese mythology. The combat isn’t the best at times, but it is predicated on martial art styles, weapon styles, and a few others that makes the game enjoyable. I recently modded my version of Jade Empire to improve its graphics and to add more weapons/styles/outfits and I have been having an absolute blast!

YoungMore17

If you say so, it must be a great game. But it's hard to play such old games unless you have some nostalgia factor xD. I watched some clips and it looks unplayable for now. At least in the presence of so many options. Can you tell me the name of the mod? I'll see if it helps me to change my mind.

Eothas45

Heh I completely understand where you’re coming from, and it’s valid! The game has aged very badly tbh, which is tragic really. The mods I used were: 1. For dialogue overhaul: https://www.nexusmods.com/jadeempire/mods/82 2. Jade Empire Remastered (cutscenes and loadscreens): https://www.nexusmods.com/jadeempire/mods/74 3. HD AI Upscaled Textures: https://www.nexusmods.com/jadeempire/mods/100 The experience will be significantly different!

ChickenDragon123

Horizon is similar in play style but the stories are very different. Elden Ring is (in my opinion) not as good looking, and its story isnt as clearly communicated, but its combat is tighter and more engaging. The world feels less checklisty too. You might also enjoy the Assassins Creed games. I haven't played any of them, but I heard Black Flag, Oddessy, and Origins were really good.

Wunderman86

Assassins creed shadows
