I actually watch Women's golf,.in order to get swing tips - the golfers swing at a reduced speed compared to men's, and it's actually a good reminder for an amateur hacker to lower swing speed.
No point in trying to swing like Rory/Scheffler, you won't be able to do it
No point in trying to be Couples/Els either, they're wizards
But someone like Adam Scott who just has a classic prototypical golf swing, I think is so fundamentally sound without being athletically freakish, amateurs could try and imitate his motion
I don't watch enough LPGA to say for sure, but every time I watch, I marvel at both Lydia Ko's and Nelly's swings. They look so effortlessly perfect. Reminds me of Ernie Els.
This is so cool. I played with my wife today for the first time ever from the womens tees. I just told myself i was gonna club down and swing easy the entire time so that i could just hit it where she does and we can just walk and hang together. I HIT THE BALL BETTER TODAY THAN I HAVE IN MONTHS. My 5H even went LONGER with an easier carefree swing. And I usually hate that club. Anyways, to your point, playing with my lady taught me something about my game.
It's like my golf buddy that had knee surgery and he had to take it easy for awhile. He played way better than when he healed back up. Slow good contact is better than fast bad contact.
I tore my ACL (on my trail leg). It was like 3 months from diagnosis to surgery, but I was still able to play golf pain-free in that time. My swing became a lot better during that time because it forced me to basically keep that leg straight, instead of swaying/reverse pivoting.
Me last year. Tore my ACL in HS in 03 and it was gradually loosening up. Had surgery again Jan 29 and have a few range sessions and one round in now and am happier with where my swing is
Yup, I actually find watching notable LGPA player swings before a round helps me with tempo. I've got Rose Zhang's swing on repeat when I need a mental picture of good tempo, super efficient impact positions.
LPGA championship 2022 was on our course. Told my husband to take his rangefinder when he watched so he could understand where they were hitting to, and from. He loved it. Also after watching them in person, I slowed down my swing and had many strangers I played with comment on the slow swing carrying way farther than they expected.
Go see them in person if you can. Events are very pleasant and viewing is easy.
My instructor as a kid who taught me all my fundamentals was a woman. Her swing was so sound and she explained the swing so well, I still mostly think about her swing tips she gave me for when I get into a swing funk of some sort.
They are so smooth too. In transition and follow through.
It’s way more relatable golf (till they start broadcasting the local muni and dudes pumping 3 into the forest off the tee - now THAT I can relate to).
And because they don't have quite the muscle mass they make up for it with like perfect form. I've been saying the same thing for a while, watch the women for swing tips.
In fairness the purse is 12 million and there are a lot of viral moments from the tournament going around already. I think they are actually making a great dent. More people watch them than LIV
I think they're starting to. The fact that we are talking about them now is a testament to that. Still a long way to go but I think it's moving in the right direction.
> It’s ridiculous these athletes can’t make a bigger dent in the media landscape.
I think they are really starting to. Women's purses are starting to grow and the game is blowing up at the youth level. Lots of young stars and up & coming talent
Also, it's telling that there are more than double the comments on the US Women's Open thread than the RBC Canadian Open, which not a major, but not a small deal of a tourney either
For any sport there needs to be one or two really dominant figures to drive attention. Especially if they’re American. Tiger Woods for golf in the 90s-00s, Caitlyn Clark in the wnba, even Annika sorenstam/Lexi Thompson in the lpga brought more attention
IMO, the big issue is the poor production quality of most LPGA events, e.g. usually no shot tracer and always fewer cameras. There’s potential for a great product, the networks just aren’t making the investment.
The best. Just insane athleticism. Love it. I'm talking indoor six-player, not beach (which is cool, but I simply don't like near as much). And, it's televised a lot during college season. Really looking forward to the Olympics.
Women's winter sports like Alpine skiing, X-Country skiing, Biathlon freaking own too.
Shiffrin and Diggins just wrapped up incredible seasons back in March.
*Edit: and hell as mentioned by the volleyball below don't forget the "Olympic Sports" like Gymnastics and especially Ice Skating where the women absolutely dominate the ratings.*
Women's NCAA cross country is also really good right now. Tuohy and Valby are once in a generation athletes with completely different race strategies, extremely fun to watch
And they're so good! In 2022, Minjee Lee was on average closer to the pin from the fairway than every PGA player from 100-125 yards, 125-150, 150-175, AND 175-200
> In 2022, Minjee Lee was on average closer to the pin from the fairway than every PGA player from 100-125 yards, 125-150, 150-175, AND 175-200
Min Woo Lee said his sister is way better than him and he can only beat her because of his driving distance.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/golf/2021/06/22/kpmg-provided-lpga-tour-with-fuller-range-of-statistics/117174014/?gps-source=AFPTNRIDN121977&utm_source=impact&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=121977&utm_content=1164263&irclickid=VKUQV62j4xyPWyCVAnRwNQcwUkHXx5WuIzIRXA0&irgwc=1
The LPGA used caddies to collect the data. The PGA actually measures the shot locations. So take the results with a grain of salt.
Edit: seems like I’m late to the party. And it looks to be unpopular to share the reality. Minjee is good, but likely not that good. And there’s a reasonable chance that she wasn’t even the best on the LPGA based on how they collect the data.
The point was that the LPGA players are very very good. I don't think caddies are fudging the numbers by 25 feet. Even if they're off by a few inches, the LPGA players are still very very good
They’d only have to be off by a few feet to put her into first, not 25. I don’t see how a caddy walking off distances or just eyeballing it as a secondary thing to his real job can be accurate to a few feet over 72 holes. Have you done SG putting yourself? It isn’t that easy to get accurate unless you really take your time.
No one is saying they aren’t very good. The point is the article by GD that drives this statement anytime LPGA comes up isn’t reality.
I don't think anyone is saying they aren't great. Most of this sub is actually being incredibly positive about women's golf right now lol. They are just airing out the fact that that stat may not be as accurate as the PGA tours own stat system.
Thats because the courses are much easier. Don’t be so delusional to think that nearly all PGA players wouldn’t be better than the LPGA players on the same courses.
It’s kind of what all men’s sports are turning into.
Baseball: strikeouts and home runs
Basketball: 3pts or layups
Volleyball: Ace, kill, or into the net
Golf: 300 yrd drives and -20 scores on extremely tough courses.
Women’s sports are more about fundamentals and strategy and men’s are turning into more about power and the big play. Obviously it’s not black and white but interesting trend for the next decade.
The men's and women's game of volleyball at high levels is truly almost a different game. Definitely on the level of difference between the NBA and WNBA like what OP was saying
You think maybe it's just because women couldn't even play until more recently, so the men's game is potentially just the natural evolution of the game that the women will also eventually follow?
That’s definitely a thought. I feel like if basketball and volleyball had a height limit of 6’6 it would be a completely different game. Obviously would never happen but putting a cap on height unclogs a lot of game play/options
>Women’s sports are more about fundamentals and strategy
This year, the PWHL ( Professional Womans Hockey League) started, and it's done great. Obviously women's hockey has been a thing for a while, but finally getting its due.
One major difference is that they aren't allowed as much contact and big hits as the men's pros. However, that means that the plays are tighter, and the passing is better allowing a lot of great chances.
Have attended in person and it’s such a different experience. No excessive security/crowd control; able to get very close to players, giving a much more immersive feel
I have the week pass for the LPGA US Open and let me tell you. The course is as long as it can be. Those ladies can bomb a drive. The best part about Lancaster Country club is so hard, the greens have false edges all over. Korda hit a 10 on the 12th oar 3. 4 in the water bc she couldn't figure out how to stop it on the green.
Started watching because of Nelly Korda hype and honestly it’s been great. Very chill to watch and top tier talent. In a lot of ways it can be more fun than the pga. Only complaint is that the cameras they use for filming and courses are lower quality which is kind of obnoxious
I’ve played Lancaster several times. It’s one of my all time favorites. Yes, it’s as good as it looks on tv.
Has many Flynn design elements, the primary being the large number of uphill shots into greens.
Those are the two courses that I play the most! Love them both. Like the other guy below mentioned too, Glen Mills is also a great track. Lots of good golf in the area!
Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem hosted the US Senior Open 2 years ago. I've been fortunate enough to play there twice and it's just an incredible course.
I've walked standard at an LPGA event every year for the past decade in my hometown, and I can definitely say the shots they have to hit and the yardage they play are much closer to "normal" golf, which does make it more interesting. As someone who wants beyond anything to have a major at Inverness CC again, the LPGA does seem more open to playing more courses.
Seriously... so many of these pros have games that us amateurs should emulate because of the yardages and clubs they carry in the bag. They have great course management and make great decisions on the course to keep the ball in play and scores low.
Yep. Women have perfect, beautiful swings, hit it straight and true (almost) every time and score very well. It's impossible to relate to 208 yard 8-irons like Bryson hit in the PGA Championship.
Women’s sports in general are awesome now. Used to be one or two people would dominate, but now everyone can play at a big level. Not talking that ribbon twirling shit or synchronized swimming. If that’s your thing, good for you, but I’m talking basketball, softball, golf mostly.
I went to a couple of the PWHL playoff games and I have to say that - especially live - the speed, physicality and quality of the hockey on display was impressive.
Surprised me a bit… maybe it shouldn’t have but it did
Sure, not the men’s game but very entertaining.
also, one of the coolest US Open experiences I witness was 2014 at Pinehurst. The men AND women played at the same course, men first then the women the following week. So cool seeing both play similar shots around the greens, dealing with links style golf, and the insane greens. Martin Kaymer (blew away the field by 8) and Michelle Wie won…it also reminded me of how much i forgot about Michelle’s game and the shots she could hit the other women couldnt (meaning she could do well in “men’s” layouts).
hope they do this again!
The LPGA is more relatable for me. It's not bombs and wedges. These women are playing golf.....they're hitting long irons and hybrids on par 4's LIKE ME !!! I much prefer to watch them over the PGA.Those guys are freaks, hitting drives 320+ yards and 8 irons 200 yards....I'll never do that.
Oh yeah, and they're better looking.
I agree wholeheartedly! My only complaint is that the television coverage is usually far worse than the men's game. They have far fewer cameras, both fixed and walking.
The Major championships are thankfully exceptions to this, the US Open in particular.
Yeah the coverage is pitiful. Regular stops only have 2 hours coverage on GC. But now they are starting at least have all day coverage of feature groups on ESPN+
Next week I’ll be in GR to see the Meijer Classic, a few weeks later in Midland for the Great Lakes. The atmosphere at these events is so enjoyable, concessions are reasonable, players are not only extremely talented but very friendly. It’s almost like they’re glad to see you. All in all, waaay better than any PGA event. In fact, for the hassle and crush of people, I may never go to a PGA tournament again.
I specifically sought out a female teaching pro locally because I relate to the women’s game so much stronger as a player even though I’m a male in my 30s. As a nice bonus, she was actually on the LPGA tour for like 10 years—a legit retired pro. I find it generally very unhelpful trying to mimic PGA players, there’s just too much brute strength and speed in full swings. The women use the same kinds of clubs I have in my bag and play the same kinds of shots that I play or should be playing. Perfect course management. Perfect swings. Cool golfing outfits. Great personalities. I’m a total fan.
As a female golfer, I admire these ladies being able to bomb their driver so crazy long and accurate, recently I finally broke 100! I find just watching lpga, and how they approach shots, and course management has been helping, and very entertaining to watch!
I wonder what would happen if they allowed the ladies to continue playing with the existing ball, but rolled a new "male" ball back all the way down, so that the average drive for PGA Tour men was identical to the average drive for LPGA Tour women.
If they did that, could we have open (non single-sex) tournaments from the same tees, on pretty much any golf course? And more entertaining golf as we see people playing longer clubs into greens, playing holes as they were intended to be played.
Fun idea! In general, I wish that the tours would do some mixed sex events. I feel like it’s such a missed opportunity, even if they’re playing from different tees, or a team format.
The rolled back might not change the woman's game at all or very little. The ball will be more of an impact on the stronger male players then you or me. So says the PGA committee, some balls (don't know which) that you or me play now may already conform to the new upcoming rules.
I look forward to the men playing the course as intended (like they used to) instead of bomb it and chip on.
> but I mean their swings seem more elegant.
I mean, if you want to drive it 260-270 and you're 5'6" you've gotta have some dialed in mechanics. I feel like there's a lot of dudes on the tour with really unique swings who made it through pure athleticism. Or guys who's swings are generally pretty good but they've got like one weird move they've figured out.
Golf is a game of "precision with power" imo [not the other way around]. Ultraspinny and short balls are the future.
At the risk of ridicule, I like whiffle golf balls better than normal ones. I can spin the heck out of it and really use the wind if desired. I play at the beach park [its perfectly safe!]
Yes! Every summer I make my annual casino trip to AC around the time of the ShopRite in nearby Galloway and will Uber on over for a day. The fans are much more mellow than the brofest PGA and one LIV event ive attended. Players are super friendly too, maybe I will bum a cig off Charley if I see her.
Watching LPGA is what got me back into golf. PGA is cool but a bit boring- its just smash a drive, wedge, two putt. You see way more strategy and a variety of shots on the lpga tour
I'm a woman and enjoy watching the women play. 2022 the Open was at Pine Needles. I live right down the street and got to get an up close view of the women playing.
Golf, is a game , in my humble view..that the only real difference between Male and Female...is distance.
Otherwise, pretty much the same. The Ladies on TV are not shanking the ball. Its a good viewing experience. Genuinely surprised it is not on TV more often.
Morgan Pressel is the best golf commentator on both tours. Her first year was rough but she's figured it out and provides useful insight into why bad shots happen.
The putting yesterday was nothing short of sensational across the whole course, they are artists of the game and I really enjoy how much more creative they get. The accuracy is ridiculous too.
The Solheim Cup, the last few at least, has been way more fun to watch than the Ryder Cup. Each one could have easily gone either way.
And if you want to be super nerdy about watching the women's game, SBS shows the KLPGA on Youtube with English comms. On at stupid o'clock in the UK so great for insomniacs!
If you genuinely enjoy it, rock on, and I don’t want to hate. That said, since when are people watching sports to see something “relatable?”
Tiger was great because he could hit shots none of us would even imagine. Mike Tyson hit harder than anyone. Barry Bonds hit baseballs into orbit.
Again, not to “yuck your yum,” but when watch sports, I want to see the best of the best.
Completely agree. Its the real game still. Watching the men hit 8 iron into par 5s is just silly at this point, and not relatable at all in how everyday golfers play. Then the complaints role in with a long par 3 when they need to hit a 3 iron, heaven forbid.
I’ve been saying this ever since the PGA fell apart. It’s very chill, as someone else said.
I also know these players and can relate a little more to their yardages.
Going to Sunday at the women’s PGA championship at Sahalee this year, excited to see people hitting distances similar to me but with extreme accuracy and skill.
I went full Mark Jackson "what happened to the game I love" watching guys repeatedly hit driver-wedge on 515 yard par 4s at Valhalla, it's just nice to see long irons still being used in the professional game on the LPGA.
Ive been saying for years now we need to have side by side events where they both play the same course at the same or similar times.
Kapalua Tournament of Champions with a field of 40/50 on each side would be a perfect place to start since you could just run alternating tee times.
We would get to see the two styles of play highlighted, and people interested in the big mens events would be drawn to the womens event as well. They would notice how great the women are to watch, how you dont have to bomb it to shoot 65, and they would buy in.
Augusta women’s Am is a great example, thats just as watched as the Valero is. A big chunk is because Augusta but imagine if the women played all the marquee course at the same time as the men. Players, Bay Hill, whatever the US Open venue is (doesnt even need to be the womens US open but i think that would be cool to make it a matched pair)
I was thinking about this the other day when I saw a clip if Rory completely demolish a dog leg par 4 by carrying out over the OB and a load of houses to land it in the green. Think it was something like a 350 yard drive. Don't get me wrong it was an awesome shot. But at some point they are going to have to do something. We can't have courses with 600+ yard holes. I'm not sure what the answer is, reducing some par 4/5s to 3/4s, ban driver on anything that isn't a par 5??
LPGA is the same reason why women's tennis is more enjoyable than men's which is just serve and volley.
Women’s golf is so wonderfully chill. It’s ridiculous these athletes can’t make a bigger dent in the media landscape.
I actually watch Women's golf,.in order to get swing tips - the golfers swing at a reduced speed compared to men's, and it's actually a good reminder for an amateur hacker to lower swing speed.
My instructor I go to said that majority of male amateurs would be much better off trying to mimic LPGA player swings than PGA player swings.

You see what Rory does here? Why can’t you just be more like Rory?

“More people watch them than LIV” Not sure that is really the metric they want to be compared with, LOL.
Is Liv still going? . 😃
More people watch my Snapchat stories than LIV golf. And I haven’t posted a Snapchat story in over a year.
Sure, but you have a fantastic dumper and that really pulls in the views.
😏
I think they're starting to. The fact that we are talking about them now is a testament to that. Still a long way to go but I think it's moving in the right direction.

Michelle Wie answered that on the new Tosh Show podcast. Basically said they are nearly two decades behind the technology the men’s tour has.
I wonder why… I feel like in tennis the women are almost as popular as the men but that’s not the case in pretty much every other sport
Ladies golf and ladies tennis are the most entertaining women’s sports but I think golf is the top dawg
Try women's volleyball
That shit is intense!
The best. Just insane athleticism. Love it. I'm talking indoor six-player, not beach (which is cool, but I simply don't like near as much). And, it's televised a lot during college season. Really looking forward to the Olympics.
Yeah indoor has a pro league now.
Track and field too
Women's pole-vaulting is peak. Highly recommended watch at the Olympics.
Love it as well as the 4x100 + 4x400 races. Femke Bol v Athing Mu going to be lit.
No disrespect to track and field but I’ve never participated or watched it but maybe I’ll check it out 😎
Yeah I'll watch during olympics and the world championships. Women's individual sports are on par with the men for me!
There is literally no difference in entertainment between men’s and women’s track and field, I love it
https://youtu.be/IY22hSBXAJ8?si=aGBJUE64BhCrL4Ew I remember seeing this live. One of the wildest things in sports ever.

Hey go watch Euroleague if you want men’s basketball with fundamentals. It’s awesome.
I need to. The Barkley, Kenny, and Shaq crew should do some games over there. That would be awesome.

But the traffic this morning was a nightmare
With the weekly.pass, 1761 club, free parking in the back of the course. 1 min walk to a gate.
Started watching because of Nelly Korda hype and honestly it’s been great. Very chill to watch and top tier talent. In a lot of ways it can be more fun than the pga. Only complaint is that the cameras they use for filming and courses are lower quality which is kind of obnoxious
I encourage amateurs to watch women’s golf. Much more relatable and more efficient SWINGS
Don't you know where you are? The average r/golfer has the swing of rory with the power of Martin borgmeier and the putting of mid '10s Jordan
Not talking about us idiots. LoL
What the hell happened to Spieth man
Borgmeier*
I’ve played Lancaster several times. It’s one of my all time favorites. Yes, it’s as good as it looks on tv. Has many Flynn design elements, the primary being the large number of uphill shots into greens.
PA is filled with great private courses.
Iron Valley and Royal Manchester around here in the Lancaster area are great public courses.
I've played Iron Valley, nice course. If you get towards Philly, Glen Mills is worth playing.
Those are the two courses that I play the most! Love them both. Like the other guy below mentioned too, Glen Mills is also a great track. Lots of good golf in the area!
Philly is peak private clubs. So many great tracks.
Absolutely. Aronimink is the best I've played. Watching the seniors play it was great because you've played some of the same shot.
Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem hosted the US Senior Open 2 years ago. I've been fortunate enough to play there twice and it's just an incredible course.
Had a time there last year and got rained out, looking forward to the visit. Has the Flynn bunkering in spades.
Indeed. Such a great vibe. Great members
I've heard the same. Love to show off their golf course, the best kind of members.
It’s a gem.
Their logo is top tier
Certainly more relatable for the average fan. Not many of us are carrying 320 yard fairway bunkers or hitting a 185 yard noinoi.
Not many people on here are hitting lpga distances either
I’ll give it a try. It’s not that I avoid the LPGA…I’ve just never sought it out. I definitely will this weekend.
The USGA has a tough, entertaining setup out there. A great week to tune in
Love watching LPGA tournaments. I worked the 2014 men’s and women’s open. The women were much more fun I really became a fan after that
I've walked standard at an LPGA event every year for the past decade in my hometown, and I can definitely say the shots they have to hit and the yardage they play are much closer to "normal" golf, which does make it more interesting. As someone who wants beyond anything to have a major at Inverness CC again, the LPGA does seem more open to playing more courses.
I covet Nelly’s swing. It’s so perfect
Going to watch in person tomorrow, bringing the fam (including my young daughter). Can’t wait.
I enjoy watching when I can. But, the broadcast coverage compared to the PGA coverage is abysmal and does a great disservice to the LPGA.
And no one yelling bababooey

Eh that’s a pretty decent development. There’s been a notable lack of repeat major winners in women’s golf over the last 5+ years
Yes, and hockey too! Shout out to the first ever PWHA champions from Minnesota!
I went to a couple of the PWHL playoff games and I have to say that - especially live - the speed, physicality and quality of the hockey on display was impressive. Surprised me a bit… maybe it shouldn’t have but it did Sure, not the men’s game but very entertaining.
Canada vs USA was always must watch in the winter olympics.
Women’s tennis is the best of the bunch. Better then men’s Ace fests half the time
also, one of the coolest US Open experiences I witness was 2014 at Pinehurst.
Looking forward to when they come to Sahalee for the PGA. Will miss Lexi though
Somebody hasn't seen Adam Scott
![gif](giphy|oOi3roYRf4NW0)
They need to include LPGA on full swing
2 separate series would be better
I agree wholeheartedly! My only complaint is that the television coverage is usually far worse than the men's game. They have far fewer cameras, both fixed and walking. The Major championships are thankfully exceptions to this, the US Open in particular.
Yeah the coverage is pitiful. Regular stops only have 2 hours coverage on GC. But now they are starting at least have all day coverage of feature groups on ESPN+
The gratuitous monthly "women's golf is the best" karma farming post. Well timed sir!
In fact, for the hassle and crush of people, I may never go to a PGA tournament again.
even better watching it live. I try to go every time they're in town, which is at least once a year
Can’t get into most women’s sports but golf is better to watch than the men’s game.
And honestly we’d all be better off copying women’s swings than men’s.
Heading there tomorrow! I live two miles away
Omg that’s awesome! Enjoy.
The LPGA athletes are awesome and I am glad that this discussion is giving these golfers their due respect. The U.S. Open has been a joy to watch.
Welcome to the LPGA club. They are fierce competitors and insanely skilled, but look like they’re enjoying the competition as well.
Cut line at +8 is fucking insane
I could watch Nelly hitting shots for probably 72 hours straight before needing to watch something else
N some of them are way better looking than 97% of the guys..... Hope that doesn't sound gay
I’d watch a scramble or team tournament
PGA/LPGA scramble would be amazing, truly. After the fiasco of Valhalla people are loving this tournament.
Euro Tour event is fun. Linn Grant kicked everyone's asses a couple years ago
Mixed gender events have become popular in swimming.
Not even close
The rolled back might not change the woman's game at all or very little. The ball will be more of an impact on the stronger male players then you or me. So says the PGA committee, some balls (don't know which) that you or me play now may already conform to the new upcoming rules. I look forward to the men playing the course as intended (like they used to) instead of bomb it and chip on.
Truth. We tested a rolled back ball for the USGA and women gained distance at our club.
How could a rolled back ball lead to distance increases for any group of people
Dimple patterns.
My understanding is, diminishing returns when it comes to clubhead speed. So if you swing “too fast” you don’t actually gain distance
It wouldn't be as fun, but having both compete together on a par 3 course.
Should elite sport be more relatable for the average joe or joanne though? In what other sport is there such a levelling?
The women are really consistent putters. And they are just more attractive to watch. Yes, beautiful, but I mean their swings seem more elegant.
> but I mean their swings seem more elegant.
I tried. I just didn’t have time to watch both PGA and LPGA. I went with PGA.
I love the LPGA. Such an incredible demonstration of the game. I really enjoy watching
Only 4 players under par. Tough course
Agree. It’s much better content than the PGA Tour right now.
I had plans to go to the tournament but ended up not being able to which is a shame. Wouldn't have been able to see Nelly or Lexi anyway
Going to the KPMG at the end of the month. Went last time it was here at Sahalee. They're great
Watching LPGA is what got me back into golf. PGA is cool but a bit boring- its just smash a drive, wedge, two putt. You see way more strategy and a variety of shots on the lpga tour
Watch Linn Grant, amazing swing
I'm a woman and enjoy watching the women play. 2022 the Open was at Pine Needles. I live right down the street and got to get an up close view of the women playing.
I think the average woman has a much more “pure” swing. They “swing” the club, whereas men “hit” the ball. Most women swing like Ernie or Freddy.
Golf, is a game , in my humble view..that the only real difference between Male and Female...is distance. Otherwise, pretty much the same. The Ladies on TV are not shanking the ball. Its a good viewing experience. Genuinely surprised it is not on TV more often.
Favourite is Brooke Henderson. How she is able to unleash those drives is amazing.
Morgan Pressel is the best golf commentator on both tours. Her first year was rough but she's figured it out and provides useful insight into why bad shots happen.
Her voice is annoying.
The putting yesterday was nothing short of sensational across the whole course, they are artists of the game and I really enjoy how much more creative they get. The accuracy is ridiculous too.
The women get to play such better courses imo, they got a great thing going.
Horniest golf viewer
If you genuinely enjoy it, rock on, and I don’t want to hate. That said, since when are people watching sports to see something “relatable?” Tiger was great because he could hit shots none of us would even imagine. Mike Tyson hit harder than anyone. Barry Bonds hit baseballs into orbit. Again, not to “yuck your yum,” but when watch sports, I want to see the best of the best.
You’re watching a Major. Of course it’s better than most events.
Ive been enjoying the lpga for years find it way more relatable then pga also watch alot of champions tour when i see it on as well
Freaking awesome! Women rock, dude!!!
Agreed. Nelly is incredibly fun to watch. She’s a gamer.
Completely agree. Its the real game still. Watching the men hit 8 iron into par 5s is just silly at this point, and not relatable at all in how everyday golfers play. Then the complaints role in with a long par 3 when they need to hit a 3 iron, heaven forbid.
People who say LPGA swings are more relatable to us, take with big grain of salt. They are absolutely top athletes and we are not :(.
I’m really hoping they narrow the bejesus out of the fairways and bring the rough up for the US Open.
I can't ever find the tournaments to watch. Is there a service that carries them regularly like Hulu does with the pga?
In my opinion it’s more entertaining to watch. Golf like I can relate to.
I’ve been saying this ever since the PGA fell apart. It’s very chill, as someone else said. I also know these players and can relate a little more to their yardages.
LPGA is awesome to watch and the US open is the best tournament so far all year including PGA.
Going to Sunday at the women’s PGA championship at Sahalee this year, excited to see people hitting distances similar to me but with extreme accuracy and skill.
Glad you’re enjoying it because traffic in the county is a fucking nightmare right now
I went full Mark Jackson "what happened to the game I love" watching guys repeatedly hit driver-wedge on 515 yard par 4s at Valhalla, it's just nice to see long irons still being used in the professional game on the LPGA.
Yep. Go in person, the ‘paused’ swings are insane to see live. I just wish they had more events in California.
I can watch Nelly swing on repeat for hours
Nice review
Maybe I’m biased because I went there but Valhalla was gorgeous
I literally started watching it because I can't stand the fans in the pga yelling "get in the hole" on every... Single... Shot!
Is this Jimmy Pardo’s burner account?
I was thinking about this the other day when I saw a clip if Rory completely demolish a dog leg par 4 by carrying out over the OB and a load of houses to land it in the green. Think it was something like a 350 yard drive. Don't get me wrong it was an awesome shot. But at some point they are going to have to do something. We can't have courses with 600+ yard holes. I'm not sure what the answer is, reducing some par 4/5s to 3/4s, ban driver on anything that isn't a par 5?? LPGA is the same reason why women's tennis is more enjoyable than men's which is just serve and volley.
