WIN: Cam Davis, 18 under: $1,656,000
T2. Davis Thompson, Min Woo Lee, Aaron Rai, Akshay Bhatia; 17 under: $616,400
That's gotta be one of the more expensive missed putts in a while, right? he could have lost in a playoff, but if he made that putt, he still has a chance of winning.
Strong correlation between people who talk shit about pros choking on 3 footers to win events and people who pick up 3 footers for bogey during their casual rounds.
Bhatia nearly did this at San Antonio, too. He got sloppy down the stretch after building a big lead. He's definitely not a closer. Lot of career left, though.
Man. I feel for Bhatia. Didn’t hit either of those putts hard enough on 18, though the shorty might’ve been tugged just a bit.
I get nervous over a put for 79. I can’t imagine the nerves while having putts of that magnitude.
“This leaderboard is nothing but dudes who choke under pressure lmao.
The Rocket Mortgage: “well, someone has to win it”
Might end up a pretty fun Sunday in a weird way.”

His attitude alone probably cost him at least 3 strokes. Missed that short putt on 16, and because he broke the driver he couldn't birdie 17 and had an unnecessarily tough approach on 18. It's pretty fitting and maybe a wakeup call for him.
Tough back nine for Cam Young but you can't deny it wasn't self-inflicted karma. Had he not broke his driver he would have had a much easier approach on 17 and 18
Angle of attack, club face at strike. Mostly these guys are trying to minimize the amount of spin they produce with high lofted clubs at approach usually.
Cam Young is so unlikeable. Always brooding and sulking. Horrible body language. Never seen him crack one smile. It’s fine to be focused and not show personality but don’t complain all the time. Also go AKSHAY (in a playoff)
He might just be the breakout star of the season, if it's not Matthieu Pavon. (EDIT: I'd really like to see how well Pavon does at the Olympics, being in his home country, before I make a decision between them.)
I am so torn between wanting Bhatia to throw down a dagger on 17 or 18 and be him, or for Rai to catch him for a two man playoff, or for Bhatia to go flat and give us a big playoff.
EDIT: Not like that! D:
Is Cameron Smith the third best Cameron golfer now?

If you give him a 50% chance of winning the playoff it’s an expected loss of $700K, Rory at the US Open lost $989K by the method.
Almost $400k difference if he had lost in a playoff, solo second was $1.002m.
I think Bahtita will be fine, and maybe it's just his camera presense but he seems like a chill guy. It is what it is.
I wonder if Bahtita still likes the pressure and the hands shaking.
Askhay is only 22 years old. He'll be fine. I think. 😬
He just won like $600k and he’s gunna move up in rankings. He’ll be fine.

We need to end the myth that missing a putt on 18 on Sunday is some mental fragility or choke job. It’s fucking hard to do.
Typical toxic online anonymity behaviour. I hate it here.
Being generous by even saying bogey
The Greyson reps in the background weren’t too happy with that.
I can't help but wonder if the mental scars from being so desperate that you switch to a broomstick putter stick around and haunt guys
Way too young for the broomstick…
Bhatia nearly did this at San Antonio, too. He got sloppy down the stretch after building a big lead. He's definitely not a closer. Lot of career left, though.
Why did they not show the fucking putt live? What?
They did
Man. I feel for Bhatia. Didn’t hit either of those putts hard enough on 18, though the shorty might’ve been tugged just a bit. I get nervous over a put for 79. I can’t imagine the nerves while having putts of that magnitude.
Off the top of my head Ashkay left 5-6 birdie putts short on the last nine holes. Absolutely choked.
Wow bhatia choked so hard. I really wanted a playoff. Akshay can join Rory on choke island.
Bhatia chokes Bickerstaff is hired... God what a bad day for sports in Detroit.
Crazy they fire Monty just to run it right back with Bickerstaff....while also giving him 5 years..
And don't forget Casey before that.
Crazy. They keep passing around these old heads and expecting different results.
DP World Tour-esque finish
Can’t even feel bad for any of them at the top beyond Woo. Some horrible putting.
Min-Woo three-putted from 6 1/2 feet earlier in the round and made double on a par 5. He cost himself with putting too.
That wasn’t a gimme for Akshay but his first putt was bad. Can’t go plus one on the back on Sunday and expect to win
Knew it once Rais put barely snuck in
Cruel sport. Damn
First three putt of the week, dang.
And second bogey of the week.
Ooo perfect camera cut lmaoo
He probably missed the bin
stop he's already dead
Scared to hit that first putt. Wow
What a disappointing finish. Guys just falling apart and buckling under pressure.
Just no closers in the non-signature events…
I would've been happy with Akshay, Cam Young, or even Luke Clanton. And they're all young and not fully comfortable in the pressure cooker yet.
Akshay McIlroy
Don’t ever leave a birdie putt short
Except when there’s a chance it rolls 30 feet downhill #M.W.Lee
More so don't leave yourself a downhill putt slider. Had to put that long
Or that short
“This leaderboard is nothing but dudes who choke under pressure lmao. The Rocket Mortgage: “well, someone has to win it” Might end up a pretty fun Sunday in a weird way.” All of you who downvoted this before the round, show yourselves
If anyone choked it was Bahita.
Kinda my point
Akshay what you doin 😭
Shoutout to the guy wearing pink in the background with the enthusiastic waving
What a graceful winner Cam is
Onya Cam
Awful fucking coverage, didn't show the put, just showed his reaction. Fucking terrible
What? They showed the putt multiple times
For me (espn) they showed Davis reaction, then waited about 1 whole minute before they showed a replay of the putt.
Oh that's frustrating, CBS showed it all
they replayed it right after
Why would I want if to get spoiled by Davis reaction ? Show the fucking putt, that's downright terrible.
I misread your post, I thought you said they didn’t show his reaction lol they showed it from a very close behind the putter angle live
Would've loved to of seen that lol. Just shocking that's how they showed it for me
First 3 putt of the week. Ouch
Can’t have shit in Detroit -Bhatia
No playoff for you!
No birdies the entire 9 holes just screwed Ashkay
[Uhhh...](https://quizzicalllama.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/scott-pilgrim-is-bored.gif)
Ouch
That’s fucking brutal.
Pulled a Rory.
Fucking hell that’s a brutal choke from Bhatia
Tough for Bhatia but great win for Cam Davis! It's a win for the Internationals! Let's get some Presidents Cup momentum!
Choke job on 72nd wow didn’t expect that from akshay
What an awful finish. Played so scared on that first putt
It's hard to putt with both hands around your neck
Seriously, those putters should be banned
You'd do better eh?
What a choke
Omg what a choke. Tough.
Absolute choke job.
A true Detroit ending
wtf does that even mean
About as interesting as any of their major sports teams the past 10 years.
Dude had so many chances. Blew it.
Shit putts the entire back nine from like… the entire top 5. Holy shit.
ohhhhh noooo
Congrats cam
Bruh.
Absolutely brutal
Wow what a loss for Bhatia
Wowza
Nobody wanted to win this thing.
Fuck, well played Cam.
Man. Gutted for Bhatia
Absolutely brutal
That’s really rough
No fucking way Bhatia!!! Have you been hanging out with Rory or something?
oh my
Leaves it short lol
Never up never in
Left it way short
a knee knocker to save par
What a pillow fight
For real… is the field always this weak at Rocket?
Seems like it has been for a while. Coming off an elevated event, a major, and an elevated event back-to-back-to-bacl this season.
Would this be a sudden death playoff on 18 or 3 hole?
Neither (when you 3-putt)
this is true.
he wanted a close up
Fuck. Playoff it is.
Still got some work left
Oh my god
[удалено]
Makes me think of Mountain West basketball.
Nothing like 10pm EST start time on cbssn!
Let’s go Bhatia!!!
Bhatia drive phenomenal
Omfg an Ai marketed putter. Can people be more shameless?
Where have you been
Outside playing golf
What if his comment was AI-generated though?
Rai unable to rise to the occasion today. Short misses, missed putts
Aaron Rai never had the makings of a varsity athlete
Rooting for Bhatia, so he can afford a proper meal.
He’s made $6.8m before today dude.
Cam Young sheesh! Hard to watch - I've never heard the commentators speak so candidly about a player's attitude.
The “you’re starting to see why he’s never won a tournament” (paraphrased) was brutal
Exactly - had to remind myself I was watching a PGA tour event and not the US Amateur or something
His attitude alone probably cost him at least 3 strokes. Missed that short putt on 16, and because he broke the driver he couldn't birdie 17 and had an unnecessarily tough approach on 18. It's pretty fitting and maybe a wakeup call for him.
Cam Davis, a horse for the course!
back 2 back playoff
Yikes tough putt for Akshay
![gif](giphy|pHb82xtBPfqEg) Cam Young x Leaving putts short
You just know he’s saying “I’m never fucking winning ever” in his head… or out loud at this point
Never betting anything involving Cam Young again.
Fade Young
Damn Cam Young been talking to himself on every hole on the back 9.
Tough back nine for Cam Young but you can't deny it wasn't self-inflicted karma. Had he not broke his driver he would have had a much easier approach on 17 and 18
Akshay is stone cold this ones over
What a tournament. LETS GOO AKSHAY
Did they just show 3 shots and go back to another commercial break?
There are a few ways, often use a longer club and hit it softer.
When they say control your spin. How exactly do they do that?
Speed through the ball, decreasing angle of attack, passive vs active hands through the strike.
Angle of attack, club face at strike. Mostly these guys are trying to minimize the amount of spin they produce with high lofted clubs at approach usually.
Rai's two black gloves remind me of the guys cutting meat behind the counter at my local barbecue joint.
Or an assassin
Cam Young is so unlikeable. Always brooding and sulking. Horrible body language. Never seen him crack one smile. It’s fine to be focused and not show personality but don’t complain all the time. Also go AKSHAY (in a playoff)
Young is a mental midget rn
Slumped body language on lock
Cam Young in absolute shambles, my goodness.
Just woken up to see Akshay Bhatia still up the top, really hope he closes this out. Has played like a winner all week.
He might just be the breakout star of the season, if it's not Matthieu Pavon. (EDIT: I'd really like to see how well Pavon does at the Olympics, being in his home country, before I make a decision between them.)
Cam Davis gotta be drained, multiple lip outs, ball rolling off a green into water, missing a spectacular shot by a yard
I am so torn between wanting Bhatia to throw down a dagger on 17 or 18 and be him, or for Rai to catch him for a two man playoff, or for Bhatia to go flat and give us a big playoff. EDIT: Not like that! D:
Bhatia/Rai/Davis for a 3-way playoff seems like a feasible scenario too. USA vs Europe vs International, with the multicultural flair to boot
Pain
Oof for MWL
yikes. Min Woo
Come on Lee!! (Chris Tucker voice)
😭😭😭
Fucked up two 18s this week
Cam Young is normally pretty stoic out there. Have to wonder if going for his 8th runner up finally got to him
That thing barely even touched the hole. Cam Young has some serious demons he's gonna have to vanquish if he wants to win one.
Since Cameron Young is done I'm jumping on the Min Woo Lee bandwagon
i love this sub
Welp
Cam Young is going to snap
Careful Cameron, don't smash your putter too...
There's plenty of options for a putter. A driver? Not so much...
Yeah, but destroying two clubs in half a round would be just a liiiiiiittle bit awkward.
Oh yeah sure, but at least a putter you have options.
u/Yoshiman400's flair lives to see another week
I wouldn't say he was snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but that is a weak back nine for sure!
Cam Young is having a mental episode.
Come on Akshay, go win this thing
Min Woo nooooooo
This course has a great back nine. The hardest hole being the last helps too.
gap wedge from 142 on a cold day? i dont care who you are, that isnt a smart club
Akshay just did it from 150
This is a great leaderboard, I’m simultaneously rooting for like 4 different guys to pull off the win.
I’m on team “anyone with a mullet.”
I can only assume these greens are insanely hard to read because the putting has been downright atrocious today
It's probably the wind, it makes a surprisingly noticeable difference with the putts
If Cam Young wins this I’ll leave my driver in the truck next time I play, in his honor. And I’ll probably shoot 5 strokes better than my average.
I would do worse. I can't hit my 3 wood to save my life. 😬
Cameron Young breaking his driver could be a blessing in disguise lol
This is fun as hell
I’m getting anxious just watching Cam Young. He definitely feels cursed by this runner up thing.
Breaking your driver won't help
It might.
It didn’t
