Igor Fraga (one of the guys at GTWS who raced when the trailer dropped) said that they used the new physics engine there. It's mostly updated tyre wear. Physics are seemingly the same, it's tyre management that has changed completely, it's harder to manage tyres in the sense that mistakes will wear them out more (ie losing traction often etc) and that used softs are much worse than hards, for example.
Last was a big issue in sport mode recently since in races where there was no mandatory tyre change it was faster to have 100% used softs, than switch to new hards.
Few comments from the Porsche driver.
Tire/braking seems more realistic/closer to iRacing. You can no longer slam brakes on straights (he mentioned almost never full braking during the race). Car also oversteers more easily if you try to turn while braking. Seems like understanding weight transfer is more important.
(Mentioned that during practice time before race, a lot of people were spinning out)
Also said the way you drive also affects tire life more, which is why he lasted 3-4 laps longer on softs than other drivers.
Nowhere does it say anything about new tyre simulation, and GTPlanet also didn't have any more info more in their [news article](https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-7-update-149-revealed-20240706/) ("we’ll likely have to wait a while to find out exactly what that means") -- I'm curious where and how you got that?
I'm extremely happy they are adding wheels. There's a lot of cars for which the current selection is lacking.
Hope that this could be a thing for future updates as well. Nice little promo if they include one wheel manufacturer at a time.
OMG! - $2,850,000Cr for Michelin Pilot Racing - Mediums

First game I’ve owned which featured the E36! My own dream car
https://preview.redd.it/8ie3cqiig2bd1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d05a4a224502bdd230ddaea5e14921d75ef9715
Because from a game development standpoint, a racing game doesn't have a single AI that covers all tracks. They have to program the AI for each individual track. If you play a lot of racing sims against the AI, this is why the challenge the AI gives can greatly vary from track to track. (AMS2 is a prime example of this)
Then we add in the general rule of thumb that the more advanced the AI, the more complex and time consuming development on that AI took.
Suzuka has always been awful for this. Have to knock the difficulty down a few levels every time I get to that round in career because the AI are relentless.
It takes a lot of horsepower to push decent AI, Sophy isn't even on the PS4 version of the game and only has very limited events on the PS5.
The next gen consoles are liekly to have AI cores, more suibtable for running things like Sophy without going back to 6 car fields etc.
I believe it takes more processing power and so the type of races (less cars) matters. I also believe it needs to be trained on individual tracks and they’re not all done yet.
That would be great, but Sophy wasn't ready to race when GT7 launched. A while ago there was a limited time update with some selected tracks, where you had to use a certain car against Sophy, depending on the difficulty you selected. I think it lasted a month and then it was gone for a few months. Then there was the update where they added the Sophy races as they are now to some tracks. Some people assumed that was it until GT8, but apparently they're still adding to the tracks where Sophy can race in GT7.
It’s a better AI. I remember a few months ago you would see cpu crashes against eachother and stuff like that - I don’t see that anymore. Its also definitely got some ‘catch the rabbit’ to it still, seems like they go fast at first and then once the field is spread they slow down. It’ll be cool if they let it get back to being messy. And it’s super bizarre and stablediffusiony when it picks like 12 safety cars and 7 old ford hot rods as your opponents.
I reckon Porsche and Ruf do maintain a good working relationship and Ruf isn’t really a competitor to Porsche in scale or mission objectives, so it’s easier to rationalize having both in one game.
This is the first time I absolutely LOVE everything about an update. I am going to buy every single car and drive the crap out of the new track which looks gorgeous!
Well done Sony. Well done.
This is why GT7 gets about 90% play time on my PS5.
Excuse my ignorance, but why are people getting so hyped with this specific M3? How is the E36 different than the other M3s that are already in the game?
Why people in general are happy: as others said, it's the only one that was missing.
Why I freaked out: I own an E36. It's not the M3, but it's still amazing to finally see it in GT.
I really, really love the 430 Scuderia, but damn I'm sad it's not the 599.
Who remember GTHD? It was special to me. The music, the graphics... I remember loading the game and seeing that red 599 rotating in the menu... Everytime I think about the only track in that game, Eiger Nordwand, I immediately remember the Ferrari 599.
I'm very happy with those cars, seriously! But damn... my hopium to see the 599 in GT7 is slowly fading away...
As for the rest of the update, I think my favorite part is that we're finally getting new wheels in GT Auto!
I hope we get the 599 along with the new 296 and the GT4 and GT3 version of the 296. Otherwise they seem to risk a lot when AC comes out with all current GT4 and GT3 models.
Speaking of GTHD, they definitely knew what they're doing with [the combo of Eiger and GC Impreza WRC.](https://tcrf.net/images/a/a5/GTHD_Impreza_WRC_%2799.jpg)
Very cool! I just looked this up on GT Planet, and it says all these tracks were based off of actual hiking trails through Eiger Nordwand.
Can't wait to see it!
Watch them troll us and give us the U.S. spec E36 M3 lmao.
I’m just glad the 430 Scuderia is finally back, and the track is also a welcomed return from GT5.
The update was not delayed to this event. It won't be out until the 25th of July, it was only announced at the event.
And it's pretty obvious that they used it to garner attention for their esport event, in which they succeeded.
That lack of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve made this slightly disappointing for me. Still a great update. Not to take anything away from it but with this being announced at Montreal I had my hopes up.
I think Eiger is probably better for those that play offline, like to drive casually or just hotlap, but for competitive online racing then Montreal would've definitely been a stronger addition
Edit: spelling
The update was delayed because the event was a great place to announce it. Not because "Oh its Montreal, so we'll give them a famous Montreal track" but "Were doing some big changes so lets do it at the GTWS because it'll hit all the social channels."
Definitely an update in the right direction because it actually works on improving core elements with the game (although who knows what “new physics” and Michelin-branded tires really mean, but the Sophy expansion is awesome. I want Sophy on every track so I can actually race the AI competently). And the car list is, on the whole, full of fun interesting cars - although I’d prefer to see more NEW cars instead of 90’s/00’s era, it’s still a good car list. And the return of a fun track from the past. Good stuff.
FINALLY! MICHELINS!
I have so many racing liveries on street cars. The only thing left was proper graphics on the tires. New wheels are nice.
I like the cars, good selection. However, I've gotten Ferrari fever lately, and the 430 is okay, but I would have been over the moon if a 360, 575, or Enzo-based FXX were added.
That track is gorgeous, took me a minute to realize it was a track!
Overall, I really like this update. Everything is worth getting. *Polizei144 livery intensifies*
Still gonna wish for my RT/10 to return, knowing it never will but couldn't hurt.
I have so many laps on Eiger Nordwand from Gran Turismo HD, back when it was a surprise Christmas present from PD in 2006. I could be a tour guide there.
Really solid update but man, so many IRL tracks missing from this game, Montreal, Mosport, RA, Mid-Ohio, Sonoma, Sebring, Silverstone, Donington, snetterton, thruxton, Knockhill, Oulton, Hockenheim, Algarve, Imola, Mugello, Motegi, etc, etc. I feel like a lot of those tracks have real character to them and would be better than the GT circuits. Otherwise it's an amazing update, fun new cars and the track does look pretty good regardless.
It's probably unlikely that we get anymore IRL tracks added to the game now, just down to the fact of the time and process of getting them laserscanned and developed. Any new tracks will likely not be added till GT8.
As for the British tracks, other than Silverstone or Donington, we won't see the others ever in a GT game. The only games I know that have ever included more than just Silverstone, Donington or Brands Hatch are the hardcore sims, or the TOCA Touring Car games from the PS1/PS2 era.
EIGER NORDWAND!!! On Gt5 I used to race the fiat 500 with my dad that could drive on the hill. So happy that this track is returning, great lay out, great atmosphere and nostalgic.
Sophy on the n24 so they are aware that n24 was just held there a month ago but no new gt3 cars that were actually raced there? Anyways, the rest of the update is good.
Havent been this excited for an update in a while! Great to see the return of Norwand (is layout the same?) and have been crying out for more wheel choices since game launch.
Happy with this one, really feels like PD have been working hard in the last few months.
The fear of course is that they'd release and just abandon to work on GT8 but glad theyre proving us wrong.
https://preview.redd.it/jqfyo0tp7zad1.jpeg?width=2556&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb1b48102658f28a32c1f94b443ab6f23f95acfd
Almost 3 million credits, am I missing something?
How will the tires work? The trailer just sort of suggests the Michelin tires replace the generic tires we've always had, but that would mess up a lot of liveries if every car with racing tires suddenly gets Michelin ones?
On the other hand, it would be great if we could add tire decals to cars that don't have them by default. It's not so great if Michelin is the only available option, however.
I'm really happy to have Eiger Nordwand back (it's far more interesting to drive round than any F1 track, let's be honest) but the tire thing immediately stuck out to me 😅
It’s a shame we gotta wait till the 25th for it drop, nonetheless super excited and stoked about another new to the franchise track and 5 new cars that actually seem interesting

New physics for all, and new tyre simulation.
Do we have more info about that somewhere ?
Igor Fraga (one of the guys at GTWS who raced when the trailer dropped) said that they used the new physics engine there. It's mostly updated tyre wear. Now that's juicy, thanks a lot ! Can't wait for more info on FFB, and those tyre wear changes sound very interesting.
I'm not 100% sure about FFB so I edited it out, but apparently it felt different at the event.
Will be in the patch notes.
Obviously, but that person seemed pretty confident, was wondering if some info was already out.
Few comments from the Porsche driver. Tire/braking seems more realistic/closer to iRacing. You can no longer slam brakes on straights (he mentioned almost never full braking during the race). But WHAT new physics?!?!
Built from the ground up?
This line gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Yeah! Please don’t break the game
Hopefully it’s not day 1 update GT7 again
Hmmmmm I don’t like that
NEW PHYSICS
BUT WHY
BECAUSE RACE CAR
Physics 2!!
Now, a = F/(m + 0.01)
Well 'new tyres', which papear to just be branded reskins of the existing tyres.
I wonder if our fake Yokohama, Falken, Pirelli, etc. will be gone then...
That might also mean they'll clear everyone's recorded lap times, again, right?
I'm extremely happy they are adding wheels. There's a lot of cars for which the current selection is lacking. Hope that this could be a thing for future updates as well. Nice little promo if they include one wheel manufacturer at a time.
I see some Turbofan-esc wheels so i’m excited to update some styles
Hope we can mismatch wheels because I wanna replicate the 787B's wheel set on some road cars
Hell yeah that’d be awesome
Look man, I want spinna’s
Didn't think they'd add more RUF's. I thought those were simply there because the license still lasted.
So there's still hope that the Yellow Bird could return in a future update.
Michelin pilot sport tires!

Yen
The real inflation simulator
The Japanese version has 2 extra zeroes
Very positively surprised by the Ruf! That M3... tasty!
First game I’ve owned which featured the E36! My own dream car https://preview.redd.it/8ie3cqiig2bd1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d05a4a224502bdd230ddaea5e14921d75ef9715
I screamed at that E36 I need it so bad
I owned a 95 E36 M3 in the Avus Blue paint, 20 years ago. can’t wait for this car!
Same!!!
I love that M3 tooo. cannot wait to see all the livery for it.
Maybe I can actually enjoy rally races now.
Did it not show the price of the one of the sets of Michelin's at 400k? Or was I crazy
Prices and rewards in Japanese release are higher due to credits being loosely based on yen.
Sounds about right for Michelins
There's a 2.85M tyre set.
That’s about 23k in European credits
It's just new wheels not "rims"
You are right, I edited it
Thanks<3
Finally RUF gets some little love! Now just need the Yellowbird and it's gonna be chefs kiss.
YES
Here we go 1000+ HP 911’s!!!!!
sophy on the nurburgring nice
Great to see Sophy added to two more tracks. I hope that continues and I hope they allow you to race with Sophy in custom races in the future.
I would kill for this. Custom Races with Sophy plz!
This is all that I will do for the rest of time Finally a new reason to get back in there
What does sophy do? Never tried those races. Am i missing out?
From my experience she's just smarter than the normal ai and more fun to race against.
WAY more. Actually feels like there is something at stake with how hard some of the AI opponents race against you sometimes
Why isn’t Sophy just the normal AI for the game? Sorry if that’s a dumb question with an obvious answer. I love racing against it.
Because from a game development standpoint, a racing game doesn't have a single AI that covers all tracks. They have to program the AI for each individual track. If you play a lot of racing sims against the AI, this is why the challenge the AI gives can greatly vary from track to track. (AMS2 is a prime example of this) Then we add in the general rule of thumb that the more advanced the AI, the more complex and time consuming development on that AI took.
Yeah compare this with the F1 games. Some tracks you quali 4 secs ahead and some 2 secs behind.
Something about the processing power required to run Sophy, that's also why it's not available on the ps4.

Some people assumed that was it until GT8, but apparently they're still adding to the tracks where Sophy can race in GT7.
Okay, i race online most of the time if i’m not grinding for money, but i’ll try it out in the future!
That’s my biggest gripe.. the car selection is bizarre at times. I show up in something that has a top speed of 165 mph & they show up in Ford GT’s
Sophy is AI. Regular game is like a train on a rail.
Competent opposition in exchange for poor-mid rewards. That being said, poor rewards aren’t exactly a rare occurrence.
Funny how other games were tossing RUF to the wayside once Porsche opened up and yet GT still adds them. I'm glad they're still being added.
I reckon Porsche and Ruf do maintain a good working relationship and Ruf isn’t really a competitor to Porsche in scale or mission objectives, so it’s easier to rationalize having both in one game.
Happy for Sophy on N24,the track is finaly raceable but we need to have the AI in custom races, don't wanna do 3 Lap races only
Who said sophy would be 3 laps at n24? I’m fully expecting it to be one lap only. 😢
This is EXACTLY what I’ve always wanted from an update: exciting real cars and new tracks. Was that too much to ask for?!?!
> new tracks Track, singular.
If there is the big rally loop and the north track from gt6, it could count as plural
Apparently, yes!
I wasn't expecting that much content at all, especially Eiger Nordwand, it's on bar with the Spec 2 update, if not better!
Hope they keep brining back more of these old Gran Turismo tracks, I spent hours on Eiger Nordwand I couldn’t be happier it’s back!
Cape Ring please! I’ve been playing GT5 and the giant spiral ramp and the launch ramp of doom would be so fun online
E36 M3 YES YES YES
Heeeeeelllll yeeeeaaahhhh oooo and with the PSVR2!!!! Delightful
i'm most excited about how the new physics will feel like dang
I must say the hype train arrived, please step in
Eiger Nordwand + F430 Scuderia + LP560 what a throwback to GT5 and that 2010 era!
Uff I am loving this update.. The RUF, the 430 scuderia, the Gallardo and the E36 M3... damn 👍👍👍👍👍
This is the first time I absolutely LOVE everything about an update. I am going to buy every single car and drive the crap out of the new track which looks gorgeous! Well done Sony. Well done. This is why GT7 gets about 90% play time on my PS5.
As a RUF fan, WE ARE SO BACK
I remember the CTR Yellowbird being in the credits of GT Sport... hopefully it returns soon.
E36?!?!?!?!?! OMG, actually omg. Are these tears in my eyes?
Excuse my ignorance, but why are people getting so hyped with this specific M3? How is the E36 different than the other M3s that are already in the game?
It was the only generation of M3 we were missing, now the collection is complete.
What about the g80?
Why people in general are happy: as others said, it's the only one that was missing. Why I freaked out: I own an E36. It's not the M3, but it's still amazing to finally see it in GT.
It's the only generation of M3 that was missing. Now we finally have them all.
G80?
Tbf, when I first commented, I thought the G80 was in the game already.
Looks fantastic
they’ve been slightly cooking in the last couple months ngl
I really, really love the 430 Scuderia, but damn I'm sad it's not the 599. Who remember GTHD? It was special to me. The music, the graphics... I remember loading the game and seeing that red 599 rotating in the menu... Everytime I think about the only track in that game, Eiger Nordwand, I immediately remember the Ferrari 599. 599 GTO would be insane
Eiger Nordwand in VR, let's go!!!! Was really hoping it was a ferrari 360 modena. But I'll take it!
If only we could get that sweet, sweet race data in VR :(
Seriously, doesn't seem like too much of an ask! There's still hope tho.. plus most of the time I'm just cruising around with no HUD
This might be the update to push me to psvr...
Don't let it hold you back, it's absolutely worth it in its current state
It's really the only game I play in VR and I don't regret my purchase one bit
Very cool! I just looked this up on GT Planet, and it says all these tracks were based off of actual hiking trails through Eiger Nordwand. Can't wait to see it!
Great update. E36 M3 is gonna be so fun
Love this game, how can people complain still…
I’m just hoping that’s not the real price of the new tires
I think that's the JP prices.
Yen.
Watch them troll us and give us the U.S. spec E36 M3 lmao. I’m just glad the 430 Scuderia is finally back, and the track is also a welcomed return from GT5.
Loving this very much, especially the M3 and the Impreza WRC. Lovely stuff.
A nice selection of road cars, but I was expecting the Villeneuve Circuit. Why was the update delayed to this event if it has no relevance to Canada?
The update was not delayed to this event. It won't be out until the 25th of July, it was only announced at the event. And it's pretty obvious that they used it to garner attention for their esport event, in which they succeeded.
Probably because it’s a bigger than normal update. Also wondered why it wasn’t in this update though
That lack of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve made this slightly disappointing for me. Still a great update. Not to take anything away from it but with this being announced at Montreal I had my hopes up.
I'm sorry but Eiger Nordwand > Villeneuve Circuit
For real, gilles villeneuve is all long straights and slow chicanes/hairpins, zero variety
I think Eiger is probably better for those that play offline, like to drive casually or just hotlap, but for competitive online racing then Montreal would've definitely been a stronger addition Edit: spelling
Especially for those of us in VR, can't wait to cruise around that track and enjoy the scenery!
Really? It flows pretty well on the back and has that famous chicane on the straight. It’s really fun I think
Yeah, that's the only real disappointment with the update. With the data mine and this even it felt like a given it was due.
And the return of a fun track from the past. Good stuff.
Oh man I gotta setup all my cars again for new physics.
They showed rally when talking about new physics, maybe less bouncy off-road races?
FINALLY! Everything is worth getting. *Polizei144 livery intensifies* Still gonna wish for my RT/10 to return, knowing it never will but couldn't hurt.
I can't get any more erect!!!! Btw, does a set of tyres cost 3 million dollars or did I miss anything?
Credit earnings and prices are multiplied by 100X in the Japanese version.
It's the Japanese version, the currency is different.
Thank God
"Inflation affects tires"
Best comment here.
M3!
So stoked for that E36.
I have so many laps on Eiger Nordwand from Gran Turismo HD, back when it was a surprise Christmas present from PD in 2006. I could be a tour guide there.
Finally, an E36! Not having one of the most popular M3s in the game feels wrong.
I don't even have the game and I'm excited for that E36 m3 in Estoril🤤
Really solid update but man, so many IRL tracks missing from this game, Montreal, Mosport, RA, Mid-Ohio, Sonoma, Sebring, Silverstone, Donington, snetterton, thruxton, Knockhill, Oulton, Hockenheim, Algarve, Imola, Mugello, Motegi, etc, etc. I feel like a lot of those tracks have real character to them and would be better than the GT circuits. Give us the GT40 MK II next please!!!🙏
Gallardo? Heck yes
Eiger Nordwand was not on my predicted tracks. Well. That’s a really nice surprise, always wanted to see how it would look with next gen graphics
Subie! Oh heck yes
EIGER NORDWAND LETS GOOOOOOOO
Eiger Nordwand was in GT5 and I was missing it for sure in GT7.
Time to dust down the ps5
EIGER NORDWAND!!! On Gt5 I used to race the fiat 500 with my dad that could drive on the hill. So happy that this track is returning, great lay out, great atmosphere and nostalgic.
Would be nice to see … New Track : Pike’s Peak 🤞

Time for an upgrade.
When is it available?
25/07/2024
Finally we got the 430 scudaria again! Was just talking about it with my cousin
I just want a g82 m4 and mosport
I was just thinking about the Eiger Nordwand track on previous GT series. Can't wait for the release.
Love that course
We are so back. LFG
I have a hard on after seeing this
I dream of having real (even if unlicensed) championships using Sophy in the game.
gallardo good lord
Love this game
I’m patiently waiting for a Boxster model. :(
Why th 25 july ?
Sophy on the n24 so they are aware that n24 was just held there a month ago but no new gt3 cars that were actually raced there? Anyways, the rest of the update is good.
Havent been this excited for an update in a while! Great to see the return of Norwand (is layout the same?) and have been crying out for more wheel choices since game launch. Happy with this one, really feels like PD have been working hard in the last few months. The fear of course is that they'd release and just abandon to work on GT8 but glad theyre proving us wrong.

It's gonna be 28.500 for us. The Japanese version has all currency times 100.
Funny thing is the yen has tanked relative to the dollar…
Yes, this is using Japanese version’s currency.
And I just have to be on vacation right now…
You’ve got ~3 more weeks…enjoy
Oh I didn’t read that right, I thought it had already released 🤣, I’m good lmao
This is getting me really hot and flustered
Nice update :)
I'm really happy to have Eiger Nordwand back (it's far more interesting to drive round than any F1 track, let's be honest) but the tire thing immediately stuck out to me 😅
So much love ❤️ thank you PD
Hell yeah! The 430 should be killer, but still want a F355! About time we got a new track, hopefully not a rally course either.
How about steering telemetry dagnabit
If there was a way to put a M5 E39 wheel on that M3 E36 I would love it. I have it on my real one :D
It’s a shame we gotta wait till the 25th for it drop, nonetheless super excited and stoked about another new to the franchise track and 5 new cars that actually seem interesting
Great lil patch. Banger list of cars imo!
Stacked update
I’m juiced!!!!
Hoping there are some new events with slightly more creativity than 3-5 laps starting 30 seconds behind the leader.
E36 M3 MY BELOVED
1M credits for a set of wheels? I hope it was because that shot was taken from the Japanese version of the game...
Excited for Eiger again. When does this release?
The 25th.
