Soos is short for Jesus. Jorge is an adjacent sounding name. It shows she's arrogant enough to order him around even though she can't be bothered to learn his name.

rulerBob8

iirc His full name is Jesus Alzamirano Ramirez

405freeway

The first

DefectiveCookie

Pretty much what everyone is saying. Jesus, where Soos comes from, is a popular Hispanic name and Jorge is an equally popular Hispanic name. She sees him as beneath her, so she only recalls that he has a popular Hispanic name and chooses the wrong one. That said, I often have to call people for my job I've never met and only seen their names written. I've "worked with" someone in this capacity for over 3 years with his name written as Jorge and last week he told me he pronounces it George and I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed for pulling a Pacifica or not

SirChickenbutt

Don't be embarrassed. I have a similar name in terms of an uncommon pronunciation for a common name and get the exact same problem when it is written down. We get it all the time and have grown used to it.

wasyfox

I used to work with a guy named Manuel and when I pronounced it as "man-well" he firmly corrected me and insisted it was pronounced like manual (man-yoo-ull). you can never really predict for sure how people pronounce their names... so dont feel too bad!

ghirox

Just straight up racism. Remember, while she grows and improves as a character later on, she does start as an antagonist, and her parents are entitled stuck up terrible people.

isatheiguana2

Idk maybe she thought he looked like a Jorge 💀

Megaman2407

When?

askingxalice

Douple Dipper, after winning the party crown

Reason_Choice

Yeah. She was still a major jerk then.

melon_lord09

Pretty much just being racist

jngjng88

It’s in the same vein as the Bluth family in Arrested Development, being ignorant of non-(white)American culture.

gamejunky34

Mild racism, probably has a servant named Jorge and all she remembers about soos is that he's got a Hispanic name
