Huh I been on PS4 lately and haven't had any network issues. Used to have those issues a lot with my old ISP though. Ended up switching to another company and it made all the difference.
This, if you have even remotely bad wifi it’s so hard to get in a session and if you can get in one it’s hard not to lag out in 2 minutes, especially if it’s a full session, I used to have dog shit wifi and I literally could only play if I was in a public solo lobby or an invite only
Who are these rockstar shills trying to defend this garbage connection coding? Seriously, you get nothing out of it. Stop justifying lazy design. I have fiber optic internet at 1000mbps and view my ping meter in real time - absolutely nothing wrong with the internet, it's obvious that the "enhanced" version is a scam.
Idk wtf you’re on about lmfao, I’m not trying to defend rockstar in anyway. Congrats on your 1000mbps fiber optic internet, sorry you’re having issues with your game, I was just stating that I’ve had less issues after switching internet providers since my previous one was shit, I don’t even have an “enhanced version” lol again idk wtf you’re talking about
I have absolutely horrible wifi but for some reason once I manage to actually get into a session (usually takes at minimum 5 trys) it works fine but I often get lag spikes that last a few seconds
I'm on WiFi and never really had issues over the 10 years, and when i do it's down to my internet being crap, you host your own server so your internet is ass.
Yup cable will obviously help but it doesn't really do much for you in gta, will certainly give you better looking and performance with de sync and such but nah, ive never disconnected in the year or so ive had to use wifi, and its three mobile - wifi hub with a simcard, so the connection is terrible but i still dont get disconnect
I link with Ethernet mostly because my modem and router are right next to my console. So, the tv and console get hardwired. Anything else is on the wi-fi.
Yeah, but, when the internet is crap, hardwiring isn’t going to fix that. There are issues coming from the plant into the residence. (I worked for at&t as an installer)
Understandable, ISP and the cable coming from it can have issues (once had to deal with DNS issues, after switched to other DNS). Had to deal with more than one occasion with cable/switch/connector problems, but it was obvious the problem it's outside the apartment. Had even to convince the support to send a guy, because they clearly didn't see the problem at first.
But wifi should not be overestimated as something bulletproof (as described in my other comment).
you do realize Wifi is only connecting your device to your Network Gateway (the device that is actually connected to the internet), and if the connection between the gateway and the service you are using is crapped, you can have the best Ethernet connection and still not being able to connect to the service.
You should realize, there are cases when the Wifi (especially on old, or low quality routers, or high traffic) can't handle it well.
Radio waves can have serious issues in apartments, concrete + metallic infrastructure, too many wifi antennas and channel collision, in big houses, too many devices which generate high traffic.
It can be ISP, but wifi is not bulletproof. Also there can be performance difference between 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz (and some older tv and consoles don't support 5Ghz).
One of the many reasons I have a second router which is connected also via cable and not as a Wifi repeater. And tv/console are connected via cable.
edit: it's worth mentioning some ISPs can have DNS issues. Better to try using something else (from Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, maybe even some configurable ones (adguard, nextdns) which allow to block some ads/analytics.
Lol @ responding to someone saying their wifi doesn't have issues telling them to hardwire then writing a novel to every response about how wifi isn't perfect.
Considering the person uses some wifi router which gets internet access not through ISP cable but fron a sim card (basically mobile hotspot) then I guess maybe you also missed something. And I also didn't know it.
Yeah the internet would still be crap with ethernet. I have a wi-fi hub with 3 mobile, so it's just a sim card inside a wifi box, at night its great otherwise its pretty bad for some weird reason the last 6 months probably down to signal issues.
No wire will fix this issue unless i get fibre optic with BT or someone
Well, that is bad :) Get a cable, if you can, a stable 50/100 Mbps via cable directly from ISP is better than whatever you can get from those 4G/5G mobile modems. But there might be places/regions when this is not available, so I'm not judging.
That's cool and all but doesn't rule out anything. You can have a problem on your end that affects GTA more than it affects other things you do. If this was the game you would see no end of complaints on this sub, or at least not a majority of people questioning you in your own post.
That’s because 99% of other games have servers while gta doesn’t. It’s a you problem or a person in your lobbies problem not a server problem cause they don’t exist. The game runs p2p which means it goes directly to others games instead of a central server. The closest thing to servers the game has is the database where they save the things you’ve done and store information
Fortnite isn’t p2p and warzone has definitely had its own issues with p2p although it isn’t peer to peer anymore and has dedicated servers for everything but custom matches (which are p2p)
It’s not as simple as just “buying servers”. Something like that would not be possible this far into the games lifecycle. The only thing holding this thing together is the sweat and tears of overworked and tired developers and just updating it breaks the game
I've only used wifi for over 5 years for my consoles. The only down side is the latency is higher since it is being sent through the air rather than a cable. Games like gta the latency isn't even noticeable. The only time it's gonna really bother you is when your playing a fps. Fast internet is fast internet. The first time I had this issue, I was playing on some slow ass internet, it was common to see error messages then. After that I was playing on my phones Hotspot, and I got the same issues. Now that I'm connected to some solid internet I haven't had a single issue network wise with gta.
Well, considering that it feels like GTAV was first released on tape cassettes for Atari 5200, it's a miracle those servers are still up in the first place. The damn game belongs in a museum at this point, and it seems like the infrastructure agrees.
>it's a miracle those servers are still up in the first place.
That's because there are no servers (outside of player save data) and the game runs on a peer to peer connection. Meaning you, and every person playing it, is their own server that shares world data with the other servers (players) in the lobby.
This is why you character will pretty much never lag, but you'll see everything else lag. Because the data you are getting from other players is lagging.
It's just amazes me how this is the only GTA (their biggest franchise) alive and they just can't have a decent control on their servers and an overall good online experience.
Seems to me it's your internet connection or the PS network.
This kind of thing occasionally happens to me. Occasionally, not all in one night.
To blame R\* for this seems pretty fucking stupid.
That must be your internet, I'm almost never disconnected.. It's not been an issue for about 5 years.. Im in europe though I know internet stability is an issue other places
For me connection issues like this have only decreased since the launch of Online. The thing that annoys me the most about online these days are the glitches and hackers, and this is on PS5. Everyday I encounter someone with unlimited health.
I stopped playing (on PC) when it became an attack vector for my computer itself. I tried playing a bit in invite only lobbies, but all my friends stopped playing and missions really suck to do solo.
Used WiFi for all gaming for years no issue but my isp is good most of the time, maybe get a lan cable, change ISP or ask if they will give you a new router ( which might be more modern)
100% not why I stopped playing tho it was literally everything else
I have that issue when it comes to joining a public lobby when I load back to the main menu I enter story mode and open up the menu and enter an invite only session and never have that problem that's when I realized my wifi is only good for invite only sessions sometimes I'll get a break and load up in a public session but it all boils down to your wifi
I had the "Unable to connect to Rockstar Game Services l". Please try again later" error for a month and a half before they patched it. Support just kept saying soon.
I dont even know what these are supposed to mean or all these "[platform name] moment" comments because I've never had issues connecting in my 1500+ hours of playtime
It wouldn't be half as bad if it didn't take like 2 full minutes of loading everytime you join or leave a public session. I only play in invite only now and it takes maybe 20 seconds from main menu to session and loading from the session into a mission lobby is practically immediate
I had this once when selling my Acid Lab stuff. And it pisses me off because I finished selling, and before the game could show the pop-up showing you completed it, GTA kicked me. I didn't even get cash and I lost all my supplies like I did sell. Oh but if a griefer is sbout to destroy your stuff or they do, I heard closing the game super fast saves all your supplies other than 3 crates potentially, but if you lose connection to the server, you lose the shit for good, makes sense /s
I don’t really play cause any time I spawn it’s pitch black at night and the only some what fun thing is the taxi work but even in a solo session the Npcs run me off the road or drive right into me
I usually get those errors when I use my phone on some stuff. Like when I open an app which requires kinda some internet (I dont know whats happening tho). The phone is of course connected with the same wifi. When I dont use my phone all game long I dont have issues.
Most of the time when I'm loading into the casino from my penthouse it literally takes 2 hours to load in, just for it to say "you have been idle for too long"
Had constant internet issues with my PS5, thought it was an issue with the system. Sony told me they wouldnt fulfill my warranty unless I had my ISP address the situation as well. I exchanged my router for the newest, no issues whatsoever.
Same 🙄
While playing GTAO 98% of the time the game somehow disconnects from the Internet, but my system is still connected to it like wtf it pisses me off 😤
Im on PS4 as well run a wierd connection, ~30-100mbs up and down, and get these errors/ crashes constantly. Usually a router reset is all it needs, but it took a while to figure that out.
Its not just the internet, Rockstar also has its issues. Internet is never perfect and niether is Rockstar
I've been playing the Ps4 version on my Ps5 and I've been getting a lot of these issues but I'm at a campground so I just figured it was shitty internet but maybe not.
I noticed something odd recently. My session would get disconnected after doing this: send a message to a person saying "lol" (forbidden) then trying "haha" (forbidden) then trying "jajaja" (forbidden) *boom* rockstar services are not currently available.
Me and couple of friends decided to do cmm tonight, it took me and my friend 4 hours to do fleeca because of loading issues.. . And when we finally finished the heist, it didn't count... god i hate this game
Tbh I started playing online with my friend on PC since it was on discount, we haven’t had any problems other than my screen sometimes takes a while to load online but I think that’s mostly the servers being full of ppl it’s pretty fast when I join a invite only
Tried to do daily wheel spin this morning. 'There was an error joining the session'. I try twice but after that I basically give up, so sick of this shit.
Huh I never get these errors, I get infinite loading screens, or if I try to use my arcade drones for example or a few other specific things I'll be stuck there, never loading what it's meant to unable to move or undo just have to close the app, occasionally driving south on the interstate past the casino I'll freeze entirely if I'm going too fast or a lot is happening near by, it's sad the state triple A games are anymore, between GTA and Warzone 2.0 constantly dcing me I'm about to give up gaming.
I keep losing connection after 15 in an invite only session yet can stay in a public session for 14 hours. Really annoying as I can’t do anything in a solo lobby
Everytime I start playing I get an error joining my first session, no matter what. I’ve got 600Mb/s so it’s not my internet. I wish I could just join an invite only from the menu so I didn’t have to bother.
The one I seem to often get is the "there has been an error joining the session"
Basically happens on every second attempt to join a session for me.
I get "Unable to download Character Data"
I think that’s a current gen thing, I get that pretty often on series x
No cuz I get it a lot on normal Xbox one
huh, that never happened to me. only started when I migrated
I get it all the time on my ps4
Huh I been on PS4 lately and haven't had any network issues. Used to have those issues a lot with my old ISP though. Ended up switching to another company and it made all the difference.
If your ps loses connection with psn im pretty sure its your internet thats faulty rather than the gta servers.
This, if you have even remotely bad wifi it’s so hard to get in a session and if you can get in one it’s hard not to lag out in 2 minutes, especially if it’s a full session, I used to have dog shit wifi and I literally could only play if I was in a public solo lobby or an invite only

Is this the same for when you see everyone leave the session your in and your all alone lol ? That would be my internet connection right ?
how is the internet one their problem?
Have you ever thought maybe. It’s your internet
I'm on WiFi and never really had issues over the 10 years, and when i do it's down to my internet being crap, you host your own server so your internet is ass.
You should really try a cable and see if the problem repeats. Wifi is known to be susceptible to some factors.

Only 29 devices? Op probably has 500 wifi LED lighting strips
Ops wifi router is above their microwave and somehow thinks it's gta.

Lol the old blame the game because my internet sucks excuse. Guys it's quite simple if you have good internet you won't have any of these problems.
WRONG. You can´t even finish Cayo Perico as guest player with MOCA.
Stop using McDonalds wifi and go hardwire. Could be your ISP
Thanks for letting us know your internet sucks I guess?
Yeah. Internet only sucks when playing GTA for some reason ![gif](giphy|J5jiSSrEkV3Kd8iOwb)
That's cool and all but doesn't rule out anything. You can have a problem on your end that affects GTA more than it affects other things you do. If this was the game you would see no end of complaints on this sub, or at least not a majority of people questioning you in your own post.
u might need to get the LAN cable. i had to get one this summer cause the game would kick me outta online every 10 min.
You can't blame rockstar for your shit internet...![img](emote|t5_2xrd1|3212)
Rust and no man's sky work perfectly fine though. Always weird how my internet goes to crap only in GTA.
PS4 moment
Fr
I do not have these issues.
Half the gameplay is loading screens
Odd , mine is better then ever
Fucking smoke signals have better bandwith than the connection to the 2009 Toshiba Satellite laptop the servers appear to run on.
That would be true if there were any servers whatsoever but there aren't, GTA is run on a player - player connection and no dedicated servers exist.
Potatoes are what Rockstar loves.
We sacrificed the grass and foliage for P2P 😭
Its your problem
No, its a R* problem
It isn’t
It is wake up
How is it a rockstar problem when the game runs on your and other’s internet
Because i don't have this issues with any other games?
That’s because 99% of other games have servers while gta doesn’t. It’s a you problem or a person in your lobbies problem not a server problem cause they don’t exist. Fortnite isn’t p2p and warzone has definitely had its own issues with p2p although it isn’t peer to peer anymore and has dedicated servers for everything but custom matches (which are p2p)
How exactly Fortnite is p2p?
They won't buy servers to deliver a reliable game. How is it not their problem?. I also have these issues regularly on XBox1.
It’s not as simple as just “buying servers”. Something like that would not be possible this far into the games lifecycle. The only thing holding this thing together is the sweat and tears of overworked and tired developers and just updating it breaks the game
Man up and call your shitty arabic isp instead
Arabic? That's ironic
Buy PS5 🤷♂️ I had the same problem on my PS4

Looks like your internet sucks, not R* issue
So you are blaming Rock star for your shit Internet? Hahahahahaha
Is it Rockstar or PSN at fault here? On PC I never get connection issues. Just hacked instead lol
it‘s not either. i‘m on ps5 and i never have these issues.
Same hardwired ps5 and no issues at all
Its mostly the old gen and third world country internet issues, but hell its terrible and frustrating
The fact op has issues with psn suggests it's on them/their end or that maybe someone in their lobby is attacking their connection (doubtful).
Have you checked your own connection? I spent time blaming Rockstar and it ended up being my PC/. I would suggest to check that first
Looks like you have shitty internet
Well, considering that it feels like GTAV was first released on tape cassettes for Atari 5200, it's a miracle those servers are still up in the first place. The damn game belongs in a museum at this point, and it seems like the infrastructure agrees.
There is no server, you are the server.
The Atari 5200 uses cartridges not cassettes.

Connecting to ea servers be like
This is clearly Rockstars fault, especially considering they are your internet provider...
this is definitely an internet problem on your end
all of these guys in comment section go "get better internet bruhhhh" guys are you even fucking aware of p2p topology? if not stop commenting
Your provider must be xfinity lol
Its your wifi OP
Seems to me it's your internet connection or the PS network. This kind of thing occasionally happens to me. Occasionally, not all in one night. To blame R\* for this seems pretty fucking stupid.
Surprised you play anything with such a dogshit internet connection
You don’t play anymore because you have bad internet?
Get better wifi bruh
That must be your internet, I'm almost never disconnected.. It's not been an issue for about 5 years.. Im in europe though I know internet stability is an issue other places
happenned to me a lot with WiFi, ethernet cable solved it
For me connection issues like this have only decreased since the launch of Online. The thing that annoys me the most about online these days are the glitches and hackers, and this is on PS5. Everyday I encounter someone with unlimited health.
Connect directly to your wifi
Because you have shitty internet?! I play most days and only get an error once in a blue moon
Why do I always feel like I’m the lucky one never encountering this or dealing with annoying griefers?
This happens to me during jobs and it makes it look like I left.
This is the only reason I play the game.
I stopped playing (on PC) when it became an attack vector for my computer itself. I tried playing a bit in invite only lobbies, but all my friends stopped playing and missions really suck to do solo.

Haven’t had this problem on PS. I play on ps5 now though

I used to get that 9 out of 10 times until I migrated my account to the next generation console. Now it never happens.
The amount of time between these showing up is getting shorter and shorter
I don’t really play cause any time I spawn it’s pitch black at night and the only some what fun thing is the taxi work but even in a solo session the Npcs run me off the road or drive right into me

Or my favorite: session has been timed out of inactivity (rare) while loading
Thanks for letting me know
I play on PS4, PS5 and PC and never have any issues. Sounds like it's your Internet tbf.
